I don't usually leave one-star reviews, but this experience was bad from start to finish. I placed a mobile order and waited at the clearly marked pickup window on the left side of the building, where there's a giant sign that says "Pick Up Mobile Orders Here." It was raining, and I stood there for about 10 minutes. I was literally the only customer there at the time. Anna was inside near the front window and looked directly at me multiple times, but never once came over to acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. Instead, she went back to writing something down. After waiting in the rain, I finally walked around to the front window. The second I got there, Anna opened it and asked if I needed help. I asked why she never came to the mobile pickup window where I'd been waiting, and her response was that it was "too much of a pain to open." That's honestly not an acceptable excuse, especially when a customer has already been standing there in the rain waiting for an order that was ready. Unfortunately, the customer service wasn't the only issue. The ice cream itself was terrible. It tasted sour, was watery, and honestly just nasty. I threw it away after a couple of bites because I couldn't finish it. The location itself also isn't very inviting. There's nowhere to sit or enjoy your ice cream--it's basically just surrounded by parking lots with no real atmosphere. I'm very disappointed because I've been to other Bruster's locations and have always been treated like an actual human being. This location was the complete opposite. Between the poor customer service and the bad quality of the ice cream, I won't ever be returning to this location. read more

The ice cream is very scrumptious. I was there when only 1 server was available. So, it took a few minutes of being patient to get the goodies. My first time here, and the next time I visit, it will be a stop! Standing Room Only though, there is no seating. That is why they have cups as well. read more

If you wore PJs you would get a free waffle cone with two scoops. We didn't even notice this was an option until nearly paying when we saw the signage at the front. On the latest trip I watched another customer wait over 25 mins to even order. Mind you this is with barely a line (3 people in front of this customer). I'm not sure if online orders are taking away from counter service, but the wait time makes this place not even fun to go to. Great little ice cream stand/shop! On our visit tonight, there was only 1 employee working (Saturday evening), but he was super pleasant and worked quickly to get our three orders. I had a small waffle cone with chocolate cake batter, oldest had a white raspberry truffle milkshake, and youngest had a sugar cone with cotton candy. They do free kid cones if your kid is under 40 inches I believe. The only thing I didn't like was it's by a really busy street and they don't have it fenced in or anything. They did give us .50 off per punch we had which was nice. They have a new app where you can earn rewards that way. Located close to corner of Witchduck.if driving WB no issue, EB you will need to make a U-Turn to access. This is a walk up only. I have only seen walk ups with this chain. There are a few tables and benches for outdoor enjoyment. Parking will not be an issue with several just off the order up window. Trash has always been an issue, it around and not picked up. It not always there's, but I've seen their logo. That is a 1 star deduction. Service has been for most part friendly, to just checking the box. Again, this is an overall with several visits. Last one was above average. You come here for the ice-cream and they deliver on that nicely. Expect to pay for some nice quality shakes and sundaes. Pricing is not an issue with me, but others be warned if your cost conscious. It will be more than say a DQ. I cannot get overly excited about this Brusters, but it is on par. When warm weather comes rolling in, then what better way than to eat some ice cream? I like going to Bruster's because it is outdoor. It's located off of Indian River road and it gets kinda busy during the warm days. So when it's warm they may not have seating. However, when I went this time.. There was surprisingly no one there. Babies it kids under 40 inches get free ice cream. My son got his cup of free vanilla ice cream with his little spoon . I love ice cream. Even if it isn't the best. A great one this month (June) is the Wedding Cake ice cream- almond cake batter ice cream with swirls of black raspberry jam. Yum! I don't live the blasts (too liquid-y), but their milkshakes are a nice consistency. However, you are safest ordering a small waffle cone with 1-2 flavors of your choice. If I could give zero stars I would. I have never in my life experienced customer service they way I just did at the Bruster's on Indian River Rd. I have never had an issue with them before so I am at a lost for words today. I took my son to see the new Mario movie and promised him ice cream from his favorite ice cream place afterwards. (He has been coming here since he was two, he is now eight and loves this place). Well the movie happened, but getting the ice cream was a flop. The owner took our order and made our cones. She returned back to the window and I asked her did she make our cones with no gloves on (keep in mind she pushed a bug off the counter took our order, swiped my card and touched the register)? She replied back with me with an attitude and and said no, why you don't want them? I told her no I do not. She got instantly upset threw the cones in the trash, slammed the window on my face and walked away. So my eight year old son and another customer stood their in confusion. When speaking to the other lady working she was instructed to make my order. When asked why, she went and got the owner again. The owner came back and instantly yelled at me that she does not have to wear gloves and that she only makes her employees wear them. So I replied back and told her this is how you treat your customers by slamming a window in their face when they ask a question. So I kindly asked for a refund back. I just think its so rude when you have a person paying $14 or more for three scoops of ice cream, when I can easily go and purchase 2 -3 gallons of ice cream from the grocery store, but instead I choose this establishment to continue creating memories with my son (that is now ruined). I was also embarrassed in front of my son and other patrons with her employee yelling at me as well. They made me look like I was the bad guy and was in the wrong. My eight year old son had to witness this happen to his mother and all he wanted was some ice cream. I will never ever return to this location again. I will drive 15 minutes more to the other location as long as they are not owned by the same person. I have never been so disappointed and disrespected in my life. read more

If you have a sweet tooth and really enjoy #IceCream then you need to make a stop in here. The Ice cream is all fresh and a small is really a large and a Large is really an extra large and so on. Point is you get plenty of bang for your buck here and the prices are very reasonable. I have been three or four times and I have never had bad service, the ladies who work there are usually extremely polite and accommodating. This place is a good place to get ice cream from. It's a small joint off of Indian River and Kempsville. It has some tables and benches to the side so you can enjoy your ice cream. Nothing extraordinary. They have ice cream by the scoop, sundaes, milkshakes, and all of the works an ice cream shop can offer. Their ice cream is good and my personal favorites are the New York Cheesecake and the southern banana pudding. Their ice cream flavors rotate periodically as you may not have what you want when you come. That's a little annoying but I understand the purpose. The staff are generally nice. Never had a bad experience there. The bad things I can say are just that getting into the shop can be at tricky at times due to heavy traffic on Indian River. Also, coming from the other side of the road requires you to make a U Turn. Overall, it's worth a try for some ice cream. read more

This is our neighborhood ice cream spot when you are not craving something super soft like DQ or something super creamy like Cold Stone. It's the perfect in-between. Flavors change regularly, but our favorite if they have it is Graham Central Station. I've never had a feeling like this in my life... other than being shocked by an electric fence as a kid. Just a lick lit my tongue up to 100 degrees but the coolness of the icecream numbed the spice. The lady that left a prior review the owner is now retiring according to the sign and the place is currently for sale :/ hope the new owner(s) do better. My ice cream had a funny taste as did the chocolate syrup that was on the banana split. The employee who attended to me took my cc and laid it out for all to see and I had to quickly tell do not do that just hand it back to me! Not sure how they are trained but leaving someone's CC laying out for other customers to possibly see is a huge No YOU Didn't! The employee thought it was a bright idea to leave it whilst he fixed my order (smh).
