This is a fast casual restaurant that has appeared in viral Instagram posts because of their "cheese wheel". Though they do have some seating, most of their business is from takeout orders. If you are expecting high quality pasta, this is not the place. Their "cheese wheel" is just a big wheel of parmesan cheese where they will mix your pasta in. This is done at the front window and was a great marketing ploy to go viral. You get to choose the type of meat and toppings you want in your order. A bowl of pasta here is about $16. The portion is very filling and is a reasonable price for a takeout meal of this size. The food is not authentic and most of the ingredients have been prepackaged and frozen.

Pasta in a cheese wheel? Yes, please! You start by getting in line, choosing your toppings and sauce for the pasta, and then the magic starts. They drop the hot pasta into a huge cheese wheel, swirling and smothering it until it's coated in creamy melted cheese. Everyone was in awe watching the process. The pasta itself was tender, rich, and creamy. I could've easily gone for a second round. If you're a fan of pasta and cheese, this is definitely worth trying. The spot does have seating, but it's a small space. You can also expect to wait a bit since its popular.

This place is known for one thing so it was a little comical when the person (mom) who recommended this place asks "that's all they have?" when we get there. There were three of us, getting the different toppings and the arancini and all left happy with our orders. The outdoor patio was also really nice until the sky opened up. We'll come back for a fix.

2nd time having this. Simple menu and quick wait, unless ordering the arancini....food is fresh, tasty. Ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with garlic shrimp and pesto. Took it to go and when we got home, it did have additional Parmesan on it, which was not ordered. It made the meal more salty than I would have preferred. It was tasty, line is always there. Still a good, filling meal for a decent price.

Came here on a weekday day with a friend after seeing the many viral videos on social media. Thankfully there was only a short line and it moved pretty quickly. Loved that all of the fresh pastas noodles get tossed in the cheese wheel and you're able to pick additional sauce and toppings. I ordered the pasta with arrabbiata sauce and Parmesan. It came quickly and had olives as well. Pasta was cooked perfectly and fresh. Sauce didn't have a ton of spice for an arrabbiata, but was still tasty. The restaurant feels like a hole in the wall but had a decent amount of seating. There's also an outdoor seating space on the back. Overall decent pasta and a good casual eat. I'd come back!

Everything went well where do I even start, first off my boyfriend and I came from California on a week trip to NYC our second day here we said let's try this viral place out since they're known for their cheese wheel not only was the food and quality so good but the service was 10 out of 10 thanks to Elif,Nada, and Ahmet they made our first time the best time, not only were they so sweet in every question we had, they were super sweet in attending us but their Tiramisu was so tasty and sweet if only I could come here everyday!! They really made this the best experience we could've ever asked for and I couldn't be more thankful see you soon Pastasole you definitely served us well today with EVERYTHING being a 10/10 once again, I love this place

Came a couple months ago with friends after hearing about it on social media. We waited in line for about half an hour before we were able to place our order. The food was decent especially for the price. I'm not sure I would wait in line for it again but definitely a good takeout consideration. We ordered the Alfredo with Bolognese and Arrabiata. Keep in mind that there is limited seating inside with lots of people in line or waiting for food.

Food: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Experience: 3.5/5 This hole in the wall does not have much seating. It's meant to be more of a takeout. It was a bit odd to have the pasta being cooked in front of the line behind the register, but it was interesting to have that look. I got the fettucine alfredo (base for every pasta) and added the bolognese on top. I also got the arancini. Food is very fresh, and the portion size for the pasta is generous. I really liked the arancini too as it was fresh, hot, and cheesy. For what I paid, I felt it was well worth. I'd come again perhaps when the line is not too long outside.

Prices aren't crazy and quality matches what you'd expect from a fast-casual restaurant, but the food was tasty! We ordered the fettuccine alfredo and added parmesan cheese on top for an extra $2 (it's the powdered kind). Tasted very yummy actually, but it was only luke warm. We asked and the pesto contains peanuts - we specifically clarified if they meant pine nuts and they asked the chef. It's peanuts.

Wife found this place on Tik Tok and with free Saturdays now, we decided to try something new. The only somewhat semi negative thing of the place is that there is barely a place to sit at but it's a testament of how good the food is with so many people getting a bite. Wife had the chicken fettuccine with Alfredo sauce and Parmesan which she said was very good but chicken needed a little more seasoning. I had the shrimp fettuccine with red sauce and it was soooo tasty - left me wanting more. When you first get the food it looks small but it's deceiving - weighted a lot and the portions they give you felt like they poured the food in. We even tried the Aritini balls and I really enjoyed those. Nice place for a bite before a date. Good food. Great busy atmosphere. Fresh hot food. And parking in the area was not as bad.

The pasta itself has no flavor. It is very bland and for it to be cooked a little on the parm wheel you would expect it to be very flavorful and cheesy, but it was not and I was disappointed. The place itself is small but has good Italian music playing. The staff is also very friendly, that's why it is a 6/10. I feel that even if I added chicken, the chicken would be the star. It needed way more parm for it be amazing but that's not how pasta should be.

I saw this place on IG and got so excited because I had went to a similar place when I was in Venice. I had such high hopes in coming here. The noodles were cooked al dente but I was a little disappointed. Even though the noodles were in the cheese wheel, they were not that cheesy and was honestly lacking in flavor. We opted for the bolognese and that didn't really help either It was missing some salt and the creaminess factor. How it works is that the noodles are cooked in a big batch, then put into the cheese wheel and spin around in it. After, the noodles are all taken out and put in separate bowls. Then, toppings are added as per order and they will call out your name Idk if I will be coming back here again

Came here around opening and there was no line. I had high hopes for this place! Reasonable price point for homemade pasta. The Staff was nice and took my order quickly. I got a chicken fettuccine alfredo. The wait was around 10-15 min as the store was empty. I'm glad there was seating inside for me to wait. As for the pasta, the noodles were soft and pleasant. Nothing life changing. Sadly both the chicken and sauce fell short. The chicken was quite dry and I don't think it's worth an extra $4. The sauce had NO seasoning whatsoever. There was pretty much no salt or pepper / any kind of seasoning I could taste. It just tasted like cream mixed with noodles. It's difficult for me to eat a bunch of bland noodles in one sitting so I split it into two. It felt very heavy and monotonous. I had a disappointing experience but I hope the other menu items are better.

Even if we wouldn't have gotten a window table and it wasn't Christmas, the vibes and interior of this place would have still been great. We went in December night of 2024 so some aspects of the menu have changed however, most of the dishes still appear to be on their menu as of now, June 2026. It appears most changes comes to the type of pasta used in a dish, aspects around a dishes main focus and gelato/dessert flavors. Everything we ordered was an 8 or above out of 10. The beet salad (BARBABIETOLE) is easily 10/10 and a top 3 salad we have ever had. The chocolate cake with gelato (TORTINO DI CIOCCOLATO) was 10/10 and the best dessert we had at Da Andrea. We ordered 3 total, including the ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu. Tuna Tartare, gorgonzola pasta and bolognese are 9's. The fritto misto, the other pasta we ordered and the other 2 desserts are 8's. If you're in New York make reservations and go. My Wife found this place and made reservations. Only thing I regret after looking at additional photos is not ordering the grilled pork chop.

The restaurant was relatively spacious for Manhattan, with dim lighting and a beautiful floral exterior. They also had a great-looking antique bar. For drinks, I ordered the watermelon mocktail, but really was not a fan. I ended up swapping with my partner and drinking his non-alc beer instead. For starters, we shared the Insalata Di Caesar. This was a pretty mediocre Caesar salad, but got the job done. For entrees, most of us ordered pasta dishes but none of them were stellar. My Ravioli Di Crostacei was pretty bland and my partner's Spaghetti Bolognese just tasted like the pasta you could make at home. Service was friendly and they managed our large table well, but overall, I wasn't thrilled with Da Andrea.

Baba Al Rum was also tasty, as was the Orecchiette. Rigatoni was salty, but well-flavored. I visited a popular Italian restaurant from the Union Square Hospitality group with a group of five others. The restaurant is quite large, and although it was somewhat noisy, the tables were spaced apart enough that it was easy to hear everyone. We had an early dinner at 5:45 PM, which took quite a while, but I didn't mind. To drink, I went with the Bitter Giuseppe for $19, with Cynar 45.3, Punt e Mes, lemon, and sea salt. I'm a fan of most Negronis, and this was a particularly bitter version. The bit of lemon and sea salt added a unique but enjoyable flavor at the end, though in retrospect, the salt probably wasn't super necessary. Two of us split, and eventually, a few of us ordered their signature appetizer, the $18 Cast Iron Focaccia, with tomato conserva, a mixture of crushed tomatoes, olive oil, and Calabrian chili. The bread was fresh and warm, albeit a tad oily and salty, but it paired wonderfully with the conserva. As someone who doesn't like it when bread is extra, this was delicious and worth it. Another person ordered the $18 Insalata Verde. It was very large, but fairly basic, with a vinaigrette that had a citrusy and mustardy flavor. There was also the Caramelized Onion Torta for $27, which was very large, as expected for the price point. It had a creamy and tangy flavor from the Pecorino Toscano with some sweetness from the onion. It was delicious, but very heavy, and I would recommend that around three or four people split it alongside the focaccia. Finally, there was also the $15 Pizza Bianca, which was easily the smallest of all the plates, but they still enjoyed it. My main dish was the Orecchiette for $26, with ramps, pistachio, and pecorino. Like most of their dishes, the portion size was quite large, with plenty of pasta, which was perfectly cooked. The ramps added a touch of sweetness, although I would have liked a few more nuts. Additionally, there was almost too much pecorino, which made the dish slightly salty, but it was still enjoyable. As a side, I got the $19 Grilled Asparagus with dates, vermouth, and blue cheese, which came with many pieces of lightly charred asparagus. While there was plenty of funky blue cheese, I would have preferred more dates. Two of the others got the Rigatoni Alla Gricia for $30. The portion was large, and I tried a bit while they tried mine. The noodles were again cooked perfectly, and while there was a lot of guanciale, this was easily the saltiest of all the dishes. For dessert, I chose their Baba AU Rum for $18, which was uniquely mixed with chocolate and orange. The presentation was a bit off, as it looked like a certain emoji, but the flavor made up for it. The subtle hint of rum paired with the bitter-sweet chocolate and orange. The dark chocolate-covered orange slice on top was a nice touch as well. Someone else got a tart, and one other person got the Gelati, which resulted in one of the only faults during service. She heard it was two scoops, and ordered espresso stracciatella and hazelnut, but was given two separate orders for $12 each. The gelato was good, but unlike most things, definitely not worth it for the price. I liked the appetizers much more, but I found the food good overall. Tasty dessert, and the portions make up at least a bit for the relatively higher prices.

We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.
