Went there twice for breakfast got very bad services. The Spanish waitress with glasses always very very rude. Never had smile on her face , never asked how is everything, more coffee or anything else, just put food on your table and leave, before I haven't finished my breakfast still have food in my mouth she put the check on my table and left. One of my favorite spots on Bernardsville. The food is always delicious. I usually do take out of either a Chicken Caesar Salad, Cobb Salad, Chicken Parm sandwich, or French Dip. All very good. The Cobb Salad has more ingredients than I usually care for so I ask them to remove some without a problem. Always greeted with a smile and they definitely go above and beyond. Has a small town feel to it with numerous tables to eat at. Very family-friendly place. I particularly like the seats by the front window looking out to the old-style Bernardsville movie theater at the busy intersection. My friend and I were looking to grab a quick dinner before attending a local yoga class. I found this place on yelp and it had pretty good reviews so we decided to give it a try. I'd say we made the right decision because we were both very impressed by both the food and the friendly staff! The two of us ordered the Gluten Free panini off of the daily specials menu. After placing our order, we started contemplating ordering an appetizer as well because we were super hungry, but thank god we didn't because when the food came out, the portions were HUGE! The meal consisted of TWO paninis of delicious gluten free bread, a generous heap of turkey, pepper jack cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce and chipotle mayo and a side of what seemed like house made potato chips and a pickle. The sandwich was perfectly toasted and the chips were addicting. I was only able to eat one of the paninis, but I was more than happy to take the other home and eat if for lunch the next day. The staff was extremely friendly, social, and accommodating. We will definitely be making this our go-to spot before our next class! I'm looking forward to trying other items off the menu, especially more from their daily specials. Love this place! This is one of my favorite spots to get take out from. I have only had the salads and desserts before, but if I ate in I wouldn't hesitate to try something else. My favorite salad is the Bernard's Cobb. I get it with turkey bacon and it never disappoints. My favorite dessert is the carrot cake. Went there for lunch one day. Server took forever to come and take our order. She then gave one of my friends the wrong drink and meal. When she brought over the wrong meal, one of my friends was confused, and the waitress told us to "wake up". How rude. Would have been nice to get that meal for free since we had to wait 15 more minutes. We then gave her a tip that was fair for the service we received and she looked at us and exclaimed, "is this really my tip?". For that kind of service, you bet so! read more

This is a cute, inviting LOOKING cafe with okay food- not bad not great. The prices are reasonable and the menu has a nice selection to choose from. The problem is the service. The people that work there- including what I assume was the owner or manager- are rude. We were seated promptly by a nice young lady and that is where the nice ended. The waitress took over 15 minutes to ever come to our table then when she did come and asked for our drink order she never brought us our drinks. After we had been seated for over 25 minutes my husband stopped the waitress and asked if she would please bring our drinks. She still never did and never even came back to our table- ever. A runner brought our food to the table- I had a reasonably good Reuben sandwich and my husband has a bowl of beef lentil soup that he said was just ok. We had to ask a worker that was passing by for our bill and then another worker to go run our credit card. The entire meal she waited on every table around us but never once bothered to ask is if we got our food, was our food good, did we need anything else, or refill our drinks. She had an attitude from the beginning and it just got worse when my husband asked for our drinks. This was our third visit to this place and it was also our last visit. The waitstaff was rude on the other two visits but at least they did wait on our table unlike this person today.... Bad service runs away business. They need to get rid of the waitress with the attitude. read more

The kids like the pierogi app, but getting charged each time for a cup of tea (?) is a little ridiculous. That's $2.50 a pop for a $5 total. Annoying. And then the bill comes with a request that you pay the tip in cash. Now I know that the servers prefer it, but do they have to put it in your face. I've heard both bad things and good things but my experience was horrible. The food was cooked great but our server Stephanie was horrible and rude. She acts like she owns the place, maybe she does, but I dont want to hear how she feels about other servers and employees while I'm eating my meal. Keep your comments to yourself. She was bragging about how much tips she makes off of tables like she's the best server around, trust me, I've had better!! She never checked on us either. Only at the end when she offered us our check. Too bad since the food is reasonably priced and an extensive menu is sometimes scary but everything was good. I have been going here for years and it seems to be going downhill. I used to like going there because it is fairly priced and the food was decent but it has changed in the last year. All of the staff, especially waiters and waitresses, seem to be pissed off all the time with a ton of attitude (especially if you use a coupon). Where to begin - we were seated immediately which was a first for this restaurant. The waitress came over and took our drink order and that's where the nice Sunday breakfast ended. After 20 minutes in which our waitress never returned we asked another waitress to take our order. Another 30 minutes went by and still no food. When we inquired we were told that the kitchen fills "to go" and "catering" orders before filling the "in-house" orders. When our food finally arrived my breakfast sandwich was served on a hamburger roll rather than the Kaiser roll, the pork roll was burned and the over easy egg was well done. Sent that back and asked for a untoasted bagel. Well the bagel was a day old supermarket quality bagel. This is not the first time the restaurant has been filling other orders rather than the in-house orders but definitely the worst. If you want to cater on Sundays then don't open for customers and don't fill to-go orders when you are that busy with in-house customers. Run don't walk to one of the other eateries that will respect in-house diners. read more

First of all I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I went there with a someone I know, she is vegan. When we were ordering she asked if the meal she wanted had any animal products making it very clear that she is vegan. The waitress was WORTHLESS, she responded with "Probably. I don't know, we don't make the burgers here. They get shipped to us". So she doesn't know what's in the burgers, didn't have the decency to go back and look at the box or ask the chef, and they don't make the burgers in house. After that she asked about two other dishes and got the SAME RESPONSE. She then ordered the "Baked Eggplant Panini". Here is where things got INTERESTING. The eggplant was breaded which means it most likely had egg in the breading (NOT VEGAN). It was also CLEARLY DEEP FRIED! For the first time ever I saw my this person eat something that not only WASN'T VEGAN, but also not even cooked the way they claimed! This is NOT where it ends! Midway through the meal the waitress gave my friend a to-go box just assuming she wasn't going to finish her meal, SO DISRESPECTFUL. So it's over right? WRONG! The ENTIRE time we were eating our meals, there was a buss boy that was STARING at us from 5-10 FEET AWAY! This was the WORST experience I have EVER had at a restaurant in my LIFE! read more

This place STINKS like the bay when the wind blows west. The service was sooooooooooooooo slooooooooooooooowwwwwww! They messed up my order three times! All in the same night! Ridiculous! The fries smell god awful and taste like my brothers foot. Not to mention they must've been fried in a dumpster filled with onions. And if you think for one second that you should order the hamburger think again! It was charred on the outside and completely raw on the inside. If this is something you like then get a surgery to get your taste buds fixed. Honestly if you have a death wish come here. It's like ecoli on a plate or styrofoam container which this makes this so much worse because it is harming the planet! I mean who does that?
