When I am in Denton, this is a restaurant I really enjoy going to. They have home made chips that are so tasty! Honestly, for me, their chips are the best! And while I have only eaten sandwiches here, I am never disappointed. Today I had the chicken salad with grapes - so good! And our waitress was so kind and personable. You know how some wait staff are either too attentive or just disappear on you - thats not what I received today. Loved this place! This place came highly recommended to me so I had to give them a try. I had a little time while getting a new battery installed in a car and so I gave them a try. Upon first entering the ambiance was very pleasant. They were very busy and yet the noise level was such we were able to visit comfortably. Typical cafe type setting, but pleasant. The star of this place is the service and the food. Noah, our waiter gave us great service. He was on top of our experience and was a big part of making the total meal experience a great one. I ordered the pancake combo breakfast. It came with 2 eggs cooked to order, a breakfast meat, hash browns or home fried potatoes, and of course pancakes! It was all really good! Also at our table was a BLT Sandwich and the Tuscan Grilled Cheese. Everyone was really happy with their meals. I don't live close, so probably won't be a regular, but certainly won't hesitate to come back when I am in Denton at a meal time! read more

I highly recommend not going to Sidewalk Cafe in Denton. I ordered 2 dozen tamales for Christmas, one chicken and one pork. I had seen on the website that tamales are $14 a dozen. (It still says $14) they know the website isn't right and that they can't get into it to fix it. I suggested they take it down and make a new website because that is bait and switch and I think it is illegal. They told me that the tamales had gone up and the website was wrong. Tamales are now $26 a dozen! I had promised the pork ones to someone in Florida where we were headed for Christmas so I went ahead took the 2 dozen. They brought out two foil wrapped packages, I paid and left. I put the chicken one in the freezer for us later. We recently ate them and when I opened them up there were only 6 tamales. I called Florida and there had only been 6 in their package, too! So, $52 for 12 tamales! I called the store and talked to the manager and she called the owner and he said since it had been so long he didn't feel right about making it good with me. Who knew you had to eat frozen tamales in a certain time limit??? read more

I decided that I wanted a burger, so tried this place. I don't like the location because it takes a few to find since it's at the backside of the building your GPS will take you to. But not overly bad, though. Let's start with the okra since that's the first thing I ate lol. It was fried okra, nothing overly special or anything, but it was a change from fries like everyplace else has (it's 1 side of your choice, which had a decent list of choices). Now onto the burger. I am no fan of mayo, so I got mustard instead. The burger was pretty good size and tasted pretty good (it was a burger, so nothing to really stand out). The one thing I didn't like is that the bun they use has a sweetness to it which I can see being popular, but not a choice I would prefer when getting a burger, since the Sweetness doesn't really go with it. If got their BBQ one, might be different. The good part of the bun, though, was it was soft and didn't start to fall apart like they do many places. Overall the food was good, not exceptional. The staff was really good, though, and made it very easy to place the order, find a place to sit down, and the order was brought out to me. I may return, but if I do, would use that to get their BBQ one and test that one out. My wife and I were out driving looking to grab a quick lunch and found Sidewalks Cafe. It's a small little cafe but the tables aren't packed together which is good. Our server was a nice young lady named Morgan. We asked her what was good and she made recommendations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Morgan was extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful. I chose the catfish on her recommendation with fries and Mac n cheese. It's one piece of fish but it's a big piece. Was cooked perfectly and the breading was crispy. The fries weren't really salted which I MUCH prefer. Most places over salt fries. Fries were nice and crispy and the Mac n cheese was creamy and very flavorful. My wife got the Tuscan grilled cheese with arugula and avacado with tomato basil soup. I sampled it. It was great. Our drinks stayed topped off and Morgan came to check on us several times. Service was great. The menu has a lot of options so I think anyone can find something. It's a small little cafe but it's clean and they had a lot of staff working. However as we sat there we noticed a lot of burgers coming out of the kitchen. It's a thick burger on a sweet Hawaiian type bun according to our server. So next time I'm trying it. This is a cute little cafe that serves the surrounding area well. The ambiance is friendly and well-kept, and the menu has a lot of variety and reasonable prices. My companions and i were interested in the Mexican section of the menu, and we were very pleased. I got the signature tamales filled with chicken, and they were simple and tasty. I can't believe I have been passing up this adorable cafe! Went with a good friend killing time to get our nails done next door so we enjoyed a delicious lunch. It was then I found out they also carry delicious home made tamales! Ordered one chicken to try! And yes they are authentic! So I placed my custom order for Easter. 1 doz bean n cheese 1/2 doz to try jalapeño n cheese (will order again) 1/2 pork also a success And Doz. Chicken. My family was delighted and loved them! Ordered the 2 egg, 2 pancake combo with a side of fried Brussel sprouts and my mom got the grilled chicken sandwich with rice and beans. Literally such a good place. My 4th time here. You can't go wrong taking anyone new here because they have everything on the menu. The fried Brussels need some salt or something or seasoning but either way they were fried perfectly. we visited Thurs Aug 14 for dinner. 2 people ordered chicken fried chicken and 1 ordered fried catfish. they were all happy with the main dish. one was disappointed with the mashed potatoes (gummy). I had the grilled pork chops and was very disappointed (dry and tough). The homestyle greens were enjoyed by the 3 people who ordered them. Serving sizes were good - especially the chicken fried chicken. Service was minimal (had to keep reminding her to bring items we were supposed to get, and no offers of drink refills, didn't ask if everything was OK, etc), but polite and friendly. I decided on the Denver Supreme this morning. The kitchen must have been backed up with orders. While I got my coffee very quickly, I was on my third cup by the time I got my Denver omelette. I just recently moved this neighborhood and wanted to try the local restaurants and I'm glad I came across this café. Almost immediately after we got there, we were seated & the staff was super friendly. I only ordered the cheese quesadillas and as you can see in the picture, they're huge portions. Ordered 2 grilled salmon meals with some veggies on our way home ( having blood tests tomorrow for our physicals) .... Once we got home... it was a wrong order. Liver and onions and Chick fried steak with a side of gravy as well as my salad and green beans) called the restaurant, explained the situation and was told " I think there is some salmon back there" I asked for a fresh order to be prepared. Got to the restaurant, when I walked in ... girl said let me go back and check to see if it's ready. I asked to speak to the manager. Manager comes out with my order and No apology, regret or anything regarding me having to drive back for my order. The only question he had was " What did the give you?" ..... he handed my bag with no words and I had to speak up. I said ...." You know, I expect this from a place like McDonalds ... but not here. The bag I was given had My order taped to it! How had is it to look in the containers when you put the food in the bag to check?" Only response from the manager ....
