I really wanted to love this place. I drove by one afternoon and it looked charming, not like so many Texas spots tucked into strip malls. We wanted a late lunch and decided to give it a try. If you tend to get cold easily, bring a sweater, though I like a chilly dining room so I was fine. I had my heart set on their famous fried mushrooms, and in hindsight I wish we had ordered them as a side. Our waitress didn't realize we wanted them as an appetizer, so they never came out. Not the end of the world, but a small disappointment. Unfortunately, I wish the rest of the food had wowed us enough to make that a minor issue, but for me it fell a little flat. My BLT was very average. The tomato was sliced so thin it was barely there, and although bacon is always good, there was nothing special about the sandwich. I could easily make a better one at home with very little effort. My husband ordered a chicken-fried chicken sandwich, which was better, but still not something I'd return for. The waitress did offer to bring the mushrooms once we mentioned the mix-up, but by then both our plates already came with sides. I got the fried okra, which was actually the best thing on the table. My husband's mac and cheese had almost no flavor. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. Maybe brunch is where this place shines. Maybe those mushrooms are worth the return trip. LOVE IT HERE. It's such a homey feel when you come in and I have never had a bad server. I love breakfast here. From pancakes and waffles to steak and eggs. It's delicious. My favorites are the scramblers they have everything in one dish. The coffee and hot chocolate are great morning mood boosters. I love a cafe with interesting history and good biscuits. In excellent news for me, Main Street Cafe fits the bill perfectly! And the history is Bonnie and Clyde related - it doesn't get much more Texas than that. Breakfast plates are bountiful with the usual choices. The gravy is very tasty and my eggs were cooked just like I like them. I'd definitely come back and actually, I know that I'll come back because this is my new bimonthly breakfast meeting spot. Stopped by this place on my way home from Winstar! It's a little bit east off of I-35 past Medical City Hospital but it was worth it! The service was awesome! I didn't get the young man's name but he was attentive and professional. The food was great and the history of the location and the facility was very interesting to me (you can read it on the menu)! There was not very many people in there but it was Sunday morning and during church hours. People started arriving as we were leaving. It was quiet, clean and has a family atmosphere. Ok...so this place is really between a 3 and 4 depending on what you order, but I will get to that in a moment...the service was awesome! In fact my four rating is because the server and hostess were great. Very helpful and pointed us in a good direction when we had questions. The space is nice and my wife and daughters said their bathroom was clean. So the food...what was ordered at our table... Chicken and waffles...great Grilled chicken sandwich and fries...great. The chicken was juicy! My daughter also got a side of Mac and cheese which was not good. I honestly think they need to rethink their recipe and until they do, skip it. BLT and fries...my wife loved it, I saw other comments about tomato size, I think this is really about preference. Corned Beef and Eggs with grits... the corned beef was over cooked and the grits were not good and were not eaten. Fried pickles with ranch were good. This place just keeps getting better and better. It's now one of our fave restaurants in the charming Old Downtown Lewisville area. Great options and high quality food. Pork chops were absolutely delicious. Brisket sandwich was super tasty. And my hubs ordered breakfast and said it was all great. On top of it all, our server, Jason, did a GREAT job of meeting every need and want. This place is now a "go-to" destination for us. First time to order here. Tried to online order the chicken salad sandwich which stated voice of bread. The choice never displayed. So called and asked about the bread explaining the issue. The man did not know and also seemed confused. He asked 'what kind of sandwich?'. I said never mind. Been a few years since I've stopped here to eat. Lots of parking and easy to find off Maon street. It's in an old house. We were greeted as soon as we entered and were seated in a room by ourselves. Waiter came quickly and brought us our drinks and took our order. I got the avacado chicken salad it was very good, would have liked more lettuce though since was called a salad. I asked for dressing on the side and got a squeeze bottle which was easy to use. When the bill came I looked at the bottom suggested tip and gave what new price would be with tip added I picked 20% but couldn't figure out that total didn't go with what was on the bill then saw 50c upcharge for using my credit card, had heard some places are doing this now would have been nice if that had been told or written. My cousin and I found this place completely on accident while exploring the area. Don't let the outside fool you. It's a cute house but turns out it has lots of history. Alright this is my first ever review. And it wasn't the food that made me write this I would say it's an average diner the gravy isn't very flavorful, asked for over easy eggs , got over hard, and the chicken on the waffles looked to be premade and frozen, probably out of a package. Dude!! Yes!! FINALLY!! I wanted to like Tierney's so much more than I did. Their food was okay and service was hit or miss, but the old house and awesome patio had so much potential. Enter Main Street Cafe... We finally have a business that this great site deserves. We've eaten here a few times, and it's hard for me to not order breakfast every time, regardless of time of day. Their omelettes are great, and salsa is delicious and spicy. Fried yummy stuff here is on point. My son usually orders fried catfish and devours it en masse. Whatever my wife chooses is always good. Service is better and more consistent than it was. And they fortunately left the old house and patio alone, for the most part, so the site is still perfection! Love it. Love it love it love it. If it were walking distance from home, I'd be so fat... and happy. Good news is Old Town Lewisville is also awesome so you can attempt to walk it off afterward. First time for us at Main Street Cafe. I usually like the charm of a home that has been modified as a restaurant and they've done a great job with this one. The dining room is large and bright. The bar has seating for drinks or dining, too. There are 3 TV screens for entertainment. A spacious outdoor patio is also available for dining, but we chose the cool indoor dining room since it was muggy outside. We were there during happy hour (3-7pm) and I ordered the house margarita. Can't tell if the $5 happy hour price was a bargain because it isn't shown on the regular drink menu. Freddy didn't ask if I wanted it frozen or on the rocks and I assumed it would be frozen since I saw the frozen margarita machine churning away on the bar. But, he returned with a margarita on the rocks. Acceptable, but why decide for me? Salted rim? Another decision made for me. Maybe I look like I have a salt deficiency but that's okay because I avoided it by using the straw. The flavor of the drink was good and 1 was enough. I ordered the chicken fried steak. For sides, I wanted tots and pinto beans. The restaurant only had a few other customers, so dinner was delivered pretty quickly. Freddy also brought out salt and pepper shakers and a squeeze bottle of catsup (presumably cleaned after the last customers used them). Hadn't seen those on a restaurant table in a long while. The chicken fried steak was great. Good sized, with crispy breading on the outside and tender beef steak inside. The flavor was just what I had hoped for and there was plenty of creamy white gravy. The tots were light brown and barely crispy. The pinto beans had good flavor and texture, too. A slice of toasted and buttered french bread was also included. I yelped this little gem and was extremely pleased. Jake was our waiter and extremely good at menu suggestions and checking on us. My husband had the meatloaf, fried okra and broccoli. I had the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and spinach. We also had fried mushrooms for an appetizer. The mushrooms were delicious, the chicken fried chicken was extremely thin, and I I would prefer a thicker breast... but the crust was crispy and good. We loved that there was so many selections including Breakfast all day. We may come back for dinner and try the breakfast. We are from Conroe and ending our two month road trip in this area. Although I was seated immediately, the table's setup was odd. Rather than storing the jelly packs in their proper container as done for the surrounding tables, someone placed three grape packs in a small container just barely large enough to hold them. As the setup did not make toast and jelly appealing, fortunately I already decided to order pancakes with eggs and sausage patties. Although the pancakes tasted fine, they needed syrup.
