A bit surprising that I've never written a review for Berryline, considering how often I visit this quintessential Harvard Square fixture! Berryline has possibly some of the best frozen yoghurt I've ever had. The slate of four flavours cycles periodically, but even the fixed original flavour - a perfect compromise of sweetness and tartness - never fails to disappoint me. This visit in particular I tried the mango flavour, and I was unsurprisingly very happy with my choice (you really can't go wrong). Berryline is also known in particular for their delicious mochi topping, which I get every single time. In fact, it's so popular that one of the menu items is just a bowl of mochi - no yoghurt needed! It has that wonderfully unique chewiness that pairs really well with the soft texture of the froyo itself. They also have a decent ice cream selection, which I've never personally tried but have heard good things about, too. Prices are not exactly low - but I don't feel like they've changed dramatically in the past few years since I've lived in the area, and honestly, for this quality of dessert, I think it's definitely worth it, at least for the occasional visit. read more

They have fresh mochi and a lot of other toppings! All their fruits are fresh and they have some popping boba. I came here on a Friday night and there were lots of people outside sitting and chatting with their friends. The line only had 5-6 people and was quick when 3 servers were working. The original yogurt is tart and has the perfect consistency. I also got the Nutella which was light in flavor and not too sweet. read more

My favorite froyo place in Boston. My go-to is always the original tart, which at BerryLine is especially creamy, almost like a vanilla soft serve, except it still maintains the yogurt flavor. I opted for multiple toppings this time, which is as many toppings as can fit on top of the froyo. I had strawberries, blueberries, and mochi. Yumm read more

I am so excited that this place is still in business and doing well. Their frozen yogurt is still of the best quality and so are their toppings. If you're looking to try something unique, I would suggest adding the homemade mochi topping to your next order. This place is *still* definitely worth stopping by if you are visiting Harvard Square. read more

I live near MIT, and I often walk to Harvard just to get Berryline. As someone who loves all yogurt things, I can say that Berryline's frozen yogurt hits near perfection. It is tangy, not too sweet, refreshing, and firm. Out of all the froyos I've ever tried, Berryline's tastes the most like real, fresh yogurt. I almost always get the original because it just tastes that good, but sometimes go for others like the lavender honey. Note that the flavors rotate (except the original which they always have), but you can check the day's flavors on their website before you go! In my experience, a flavor will usually stay for a couple weeks. The lavender honey, strawberry lemonade, and rose are my favorite non-original flavors. read more

One of the best froyo's I've had in awhile. I doubted my friend when she told me to try the original flavor since I don't like tart things, but it turned out to be great! The only complaint is it's so popular the line is long and you can't really sit inside. Will definitely come back to try the next time I'm in town. read more

An old fave for the last decade. Every time I'm back in Boston, Berryline is first on the list. The classic original is tart and perfect, and I've never been disappointed by the fruity flavor selection. Truly the best froyo I've ever had. The homemade mochi pairs well with pretty much all flavors as well. read more

I got the two sorbets (Mango and Raspberry) because I didn't feel like getting dairy that day (very lactose, oops). They both tasted very artificial and too thick in flavor that it wasn't refreshing and I unfortunately had to toss out after a few bites because I couldn't eat more of it, which I NEVER do. I'm giving this place another try with their other popular flavors because I refuse to give up on froyo places, especially when there are only like 2 in Boston! The place itself is very cute and there are a few seats to chill inside but a lot of seats around Harvard Square anyways to hangout. I really liked how they had various sizes and allowed multiple scoops even for the tiniest cup! The employee was really nice and she gave testings for unique flavors (should've tasted the sorbets before getting it). The two flavors I got were a miss for me but I'm sure the other flavors are yummy! read more

This is my all-time favorite froyo place! It's 100% the BEST FROYO!!! Seriously, nowhere else even comes close. I like to get the original with no toppings because the froyo is just that good! It's the perfect combination of tart and creamy, and the texture is always spot-on. I don't live in the area anymore, but any time I visit Boston, a trip to Berryline is a must. I was sad to hear their other location on Mass Ave went away, but hopefully this one is here to stay. If I lived any closer, I would stop by every day! read more

If you watch a horror movie, there might be a SCARY LINE If you kissed a girl and liked it, that's a KATY PERRY LINE When Madonna's touched for the very first time, that's a CHERRY LINE But if you're in Boston and want some FroYo, go to BERRYLINE! WHAT I've trundled around on many different lines of Boston's T subway train, but this was my first ever experience on the Berry Line. It didn't really get me anywhere, but it tasted good. The best thing about this little frozen yogurt chain is that they are extremely friendly here. The girls are super sweet to me and told me all about the chain and the other locations and whatnot, and gave me extremely generous portions of the product. These servers alone were so great to me that it's impossible not to give 5 stars. On the other hand, while the frozen yogurt was good, I guess I'm just not I guess I'm just not completely obsessed with frozen yogurt like a lot of people are, so I liked it but wasn't maniacal about it or anything. But the service was so completely friendly here, and the products were pretty good (between a 4 and a 5) that overall, I definitely have to give them 5 stars, because they have some of the best service in Boston. Now I'm berry able to keep myself awake, so I'm going to line down for a bit. read more

BerryLine's ice cream isn't bad. I got the mint chocolate chip and with brownie toppings. The ice cream prices are quite typical. There's not much space/seating in the ice cream shop. Service is pretty good and all servers are nice. Their ice cream is not all that special so I'm not sure if I'll be back, but it's worth a try! Check it out if you're in Cambridge! Amazing froyo!! It's not the super sugary froyo most places have, it's sweet but tart which I love! You can get all the flavors in one cup and they really load it on! The mochi topping is the best, so soft and they put so much on! Perfect for a summer snack read more

Really enjoyed the original flavor froyo with mochi. Honestly, it's been a long time since I saw mochi available (maybe it's just the places in my area?). Parking can be difficult, needless to say. There are a few seats available to enjoy your treat in store. read more

Such a great place to grab a sweet treat! Service was incredibly friendly and I especially appreciated the simple yet high quality nature of their froyo menu. Their original flavor is great - it had such a good balance between tartness and sweetness, and tasted extremely refreshing and light and creamy. The other froyo flavors that are switched in and out are usually seasonal. I highly recommend the mochi topping, which is homemade and has such a fluffy and chewy texture that pairs really well with froyo. They also have plenty of other items to choose from but mochi is definitely my go-to. Seating is a bit limited especially if you visit at busier hours. Fun fact, I didn't realize this beforehand, but this place was locally founded by two close friends - how cute and inspiring! read more

If you like a tart frozen yogurt, this is your place! BerryLine makes homemade frozen yogurt that is not too sweet, and they have four flavors they sell. Haven't tried their ice cream, but know that it's not homemade. They do have homemade brownies, cheesecake bites, cheesecake brownies and mochi you can get as toppings! The fruit they use as toppings is also very fresh and they have fun candy toppings. Worth checking out! read more

Not my best photo, but that's because I was too excited to eat my yogurt! The pear almond flavor was very tasty and the fresh and generous amount of mochi on top went so well with every bite. The soft mochi and the lightly sweet yogurt was a great combo and a great pick-me-up for my evening. This micro size cost me less than a boba, and in my eyes that is a win. Will be coming back to try more flavors and combos :) read more

I used to get watermelon frozen yogurt with mochi as a treat after playing basketball back in high school, so I was anxious to try BerryLine's watermelon mint flavor froyo since I do like both watermelon and mint flavors. When I actually tried the watermelon-mint froyo though, I was a little underwhelmed. It was a little difficult to taste the watermelon flavor of the froyo (or really the mint flavor either). It didn't help that the froyo also had a pale green color which isn't exactly the most appetizing look. Overall, It tasted okay though I wonder if all my enjoyment really just stemmed from the fact that it was frozen yogurt and I was craving it (could I have just gotten the original flavor?). I did appreciate that there is homemade mochi at BerryLine. Taste-wise the mochi was pretty good. The texture was nice and chewy, though it was maybe a bit too powdery/sugary. My biggest complaint waa probably the size of each mochi; I certainly think they could cut them in half to make it easier to actually eat both the mochi and froyo at the same time. All in all, it was a solid frozen yogurt but not exactly what I was looking for. read more

I appreciate the quality but am partial to a regular froyo taste. Here it had a zippy yogurt flavor, which some people may love with it's 4.5 stars but just not for me. Friendly staff. $3.50 for an extra small (which was pretty sizeable) with no toppings. read more

Loveeeeee it!! Best froyo in town. Their toppings are great too. I love how their serving size is pretty reasonable. Its situated right in Harvard Square so very convenient. Shop is tiny and always busy but is always cozy. Only recommendation for management: Plssssss introduce Bobas to your toppings, its a huge miss. read more

One of the best original froyos I've ever had. Other flavors are alright. What sets them apart are the amazing selection of toppings and the homemade cheesecake and Mochi. This nice Korean guy is super nice with great service. Some of the girls that are there in the evenings tend to give an annoyed attitude although I do enjoy listening to their latest gossip. Hands down something I will miss about Boston over and over again. No other froyo place will compare read more

So I went to Berryline with my daughter and her boyfriend I have mixed feelings about the place mostly good. Parking is limited but what do you expect in Cambridge. I was surprised that there was no outside park bench little gazebo or anywhere to sit. They were allowing one group of people in at a time when I see a group 1 to3 or four people that were paying together. It seem to be working rather well as they had two girls behind the counter and they worked very well together. I had an opportunity to try a few different flavors since they were three of us The vanilla was great as was the mint chocolate chip. The raspberry yogurt was actually more invigorating and powerful than real raspberries so a little strong for my taste but my daughter loved it. The toppings are the star of this little ice cream shop. Whether it's the standard Jimmy's small M&Ms nuts etc. all are available. But they have a few items you're not usually finding at an ice cream store like chopped up pieces of cheesecake chopped up brownies etc. etc. so many good toppings I definitely would go there again. The thing that caught my attention and actually caught me by surprise what is the pricing the small ice cream has two scoops in the medium yogurts are huge for the three servings we got one small ice cream two medium yogurts with as many toppings as you can fit in the cup only came to $13 and change. I think that's quite the deal Head on over and try some it's summer it's hot everyone needs an ice cream. read more

I've been a fan of BerryLine since their Fenway location was open (now closed, unfortunately). This one is a bit harder to find than the other locations, but it's worth the walk from Harvard Square. What makes BerryLine stand out from other frozen yogurt places is the quality of their toppings. The fruit is always fresh. I love their mochi because it's made in house and has a wonderful chewy texture. Unlike most other frozen yogurt places, the yogurt is a bit tart and never too sweet. They have some pretty creative flavors too. I most recently had the vanilla cardamom flavor, which I loved. It had the smooth sweetness of vanilla with a hint of spicy cardamom. This location has limited seating, so you're better off taking your yogurt to go, especially if it's a hot day and everyone is clamoring to get froyo, like yesterday when it was 80 degrees. read more

As a hardcore froyo fan, I am constantly looking for the best froyo. For 6 years now, this place has continued to take the #1 spot on my list and I have returned here countless times. Food I've tried: - On the froyo menu, the original always is available and there are 3 rotating flavors that is always changing. My personal favorite is the original, because it is the perfect balance of tartness, sourness, and creaminess. Of the rotating flavors, the black cherry is a close contender. Every time I return, I love trying the new flavors and I am always blown away by how fresh everything tastes. Since I have returned so frequently, I have tried almost all of the flavors in the rotation for many years and they have all consistently been amazing (but nothing beats the original for me!). - For the toppings, there are the standard toppings (fruit, cookie crumbles, etc) as well as homemade mochi, brownie, cheesecake, and oreo cheesecake. While I personally like to enjoy the froyo by itself without toppings to get the purest experience, all of my friends like the toppings as well especially the mochi. - Don't forget to collect 10 stamps for a free froyo! - I have personally not tried their ice cream menu, but I have heard from multiple friends that they are excellent. Atmosphere: - Very small hole in the wall vibe. The Harvard Square location has very limited seating that can seat maybe 10 people max. The Porter square location has more seating area, but sadly this location closes in the winter months. - Overall, the feeling is very cozy and I love coming here with my friends to catch up. Service: - Extremely friendly. There can be a line at times, but it moves pretty quickly. Overall: - I absolutely love this place, and when I am not in Boston I always miss the froyo here. Especially during COVID I have returned multiple times as it is important to support small businesses like Berryline (please never close down!). - Objectively, the price is on the higher side for froyo but I 100% think it is worth it. read more

BerryLine is my top dessert option in Harvard Square. The froyo is lighter and less guilt-inducing than ice cream, but still feels like a treat. Their flavors aren't too sweet and don't taste artificial, like many other frozen yogurt joints. They have an amazing rose flavor (the best froyo I've ever had!!!) with a subtle floral flavor that paired well with strawberry slices and mochi as toppings. Their mochi as well--incredible. It's house-made, fresh, and incredibly soft. You need to get the mochi here. Their tart flavor is also quite good, but isn't the best tart I've ever had (it was a tad sweet). The only downside is that it can be quite crowded in there, but thankfully there are other places to sit and eat in the square! read more

It had been awhile since I had a frozen yogurt--perhaps several years! So, BerryLine was a good spot to hit up. It's a small shop--and I ordered the original and added some fruit toppings on it. Perhaps I should have ordered more/that was a possible error because the small was $6. Kinda meh... a 'lil expensive, but after reading the Yelp reviews, I can see how if you just pile those toppings on, you'd be getting your money's worth, haha! :) They did have some creative dessert-type toppings, so maybe another day if I am in the area. The fro-yo itself was good, pretty much reminded me exactly of Pinkberry from back in the day. A good summer treat. read more

Established in 2007.

BerryLine is locally owned by long time friends, Pok Yang and Matthew Wallace, who first meet in 1999 while attending graduate school in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The idea for BerryLine arose in late 2006 and was seriously considered in early 2007 when potential locations were scouted. The initial site in Harvard Square was settled upon in May 2007, though renovations were not completed until September 2007. Numerous renovation and business development plans were made possible by the generous contributions of time and expertise made by BerryLine friends. Meet the Business Owner: Matt W.

Let me be frank, I started BerryLine because I am interested in life and living life to its fullest. Prior to owning BerryLine, I'd never even worked retail, having spent my summers as a camp counselor and lifeguard before becoming a full time academic. Owning my own business was always a dream and BerryLine has been a great introduction. Many of you who have visited the shop(s) have probably noticed constant changes as we fine tune our knowledge relating to frozen yogurt and to owning a business in general. As we fine tune our knowledge (I don't think you can really ever stop) we love to have constant feedback and thus require your help to point out the flaws and successes. I am in one of the shops 6 days a week, working either behind the counter or in some other capacity. Please say hello, ask a question, or simply give me a wave if you see me around.

This spot isn't bad, but I probably wouldn't return - overpriced for what it is and not great quality.

It has been 11 days since my last visit and this place was great again. Just happened to be in Harvard Square and remembered how much I enjoyed BerryLine the last time. This place did not let me down again. So simple, yet sooooo gooood. The fruit and the frozen yogurt works so well together. This time I got a little more adventurous and got a Strawberry Kiwi original. I always loved Strawberry Kiwi drinks so I figured this would be interesting. Again, the fruit was loaded onto the frozen yogurt and it was literally hard to dig in without knocking some of the fruit off the side because there was so much of it. The fruit is fresh which is amazing. Theres nothing like fresh fruit. Eating this makes me feel so much less fat than if I eat something from say coldstone. Again, great friendly service. The worst part was the empty cup after the frozen yogurt was gone. I was tempted to cry. Also, after my last review, I managed to get out of this place safely without tripping. This is actually the second review I've written for Berryline, but that's how good it is. It gets another review! Berryline is amazing. Their yogurt is divine. It's yogurty yogurt, for sure, none of this faux-ice-cream stuff. Now this puts most people off it, but TRY IT FIRST. I admit, over a year ago when I first stumbled upon this gem, I was skeptical. But it was worth it. I'm a convert. They have 3 flavors each week--original, and two random, amazing, adventurous flavors that you're guaranteed to love. Like rose petal--delicious! They have so many toppings, especially fresh chopped fruit, granola, toffee bits, cereals, and the newest thing, Mochi! It's really good, and they have it in strawberry. Fab. For some reason they stopped serving their amazing redline smoothie, but they still have absolutely perfect coffee--its a shame they don't open before noon. Can you imagine, a cup of berryline coffee, some guava/original swirl yogurt, and some strawberries and mangoes on the side? A perfect breakfast! Five stars. My family loves froyo, and this is our fav spot hands down. My favorite unexpected flavor is lavender honey??(never thought i'd say that, but it's sooo good). All of their flavors never fall short, and there's usually a flavor profile for everyone. The kids usually go for a chocolate option. The texture is nice and smooth. It's all natural ingredients, so depending on what the flavor you get, such as black raspberry, there will be a small amount of raspberry seed or coconut pieces, but it's actually blended really well. The thing we love most is that they are not greedy with their toppings (it's part of what sets you apart), and there are a lot of toppings to choose from. Last year they started serving dairy/nondairy ice cream. Great addition Berryline! They also have smoothies, and shakes. The Porter Square location has made to order waffles, choose your toppings = trouble, the good kind. Also brownie points go to a loyalty stamp card, I think it's for every 10; it's nice to be appreciated. Hope you love it as much as we do. read more

The worst customer service ever! The Asian girl has got to get fired. she is going to make the business go sour. So does the brunette who just stands there and doesn't do work. I was there yesterday and there were a super long line and the brunette girl was just standing there getting in the way of the others behind the counter and not working while the other 2 (a girl and a guy) were working very hard. I won't go in if the Asian girl or the brunette girl are working in there. as for the yogurt. it is my 3rd time in the store and it was a disappointment. maybe they were not ready for a large crowd because the first 2 times i had an amazing experience but yesterday was just weird. 1 star because of those 2 employees. once they get fired and if they are replaced with someone more fun and less creepy and if their yogurt go back to the high quality it used to be I'll come back and give them more stars. read more

I was really craving some pinkberry/kiwiberry so I decided to give this place a try. The original was more creamy and less tangy than pinkberry's original but still pretty good. I love the way Pinkberry's yogurt tastes like those Asian yogurt drinks so I still prefer Pinkberry. The fruit options are not as extensive as Pinkberry but is all super fresh and not frozen. The store itself is very small so the fact that it offers free wifi doesn't do much because there's no place to sit. One thing about BerryLine that I do like more than Pinkberry is the fact that they serve coffee and expresso as well as the fro yo. Overall, it was enough to satisfy my Pinkberry craving until they finally make their way to Boston. And it's definitely better than regular fro yo any day, so if you haven't given either a try I definitely recommend it! read more

I love frozen yogurt. It's one of my favorite summer treats as I wander around Harvard Square. The choice inevitably comes down to BerryLine versus PinkBerry, and for me, BerryLine takes the cake. I simply cannot understand the hype about PinkBerry. As I see it, BerryLine does everything PinkBerry does, they just do it better. Better atmosphere, better service, and definitely better froyo. I was skeptical about their tart yogurt the first time I came, but the second time, I really liked it and by the third, I loved it! Yummm fro-yo! This frozen yogurt with toppings trend is new to me and BerryLine was a great first try. I just had a plain with strawberries and I really enjoyed it. I ordered a small and I felt that the portion was rather large. The thing I like about frozen yogurt is that it isn't heavy like ice cream, so even though the portion was larger than I thought I could stomach, I was able to smoothly finish it off. It was a very refreshing treat. The shop is pretty small hence there's limited seating, so plan on taking it to go. I will surely return to try more toppings! read more

In Harvard Square, there's a new frozen yogurt/coffee shop called Berry Line. The frozen yogurt is delectable. It tastes like frozen yogurt should, not like the super sugary garbage that most places serve. You can also get a variety of tasty and edible (or not) toppings, such as fresh cut fruit (not canned!) or fruity pebbles. The mighty leaf, a great tea, is also available. I tried the rainforest mate tea and found it to be delicious. Furthermore, everybody there is extremely friendly. Furthermore, the rates are fair. BerryLine is a great ice cream spot! They have lots of flavors, including frozen yogurt and dairy free too. To me, the toppings are always the best part! Even though it was pretty busy when I went, the line moved fast. I've passed by dozens of times, but never noticed it, until my friends told me about it. It's pretty small, so you're better off taking your dessert to go. With all the ice cream shops in the area, I feel like this one flies under the radar a bit. Solid choice! read more

They were also out of a flavor I wanted which was unfortunate, but the service was otherwise fine and quick. It's a little steep in pricing for the scoop size, but the flavors were tasty enough. Overall, I don't think I would come out of my way to try it again, but it was a nice dessert.

The ice cream itself was also meh - they brand it as gelato but the texture is icy and hard, not the smoothness or creaminess of typical gelato at all. Might as well just call it ice cream. The soft serve looked good. My main grievance is how crazy hot and airless it gets inside the store in the summer. I really feel for the employees because that level of heat can't be safe, though maybe they get a reprieve from the ice cream chest. We came on a day when it was over 90 and even standing around/waiting for our number to be called was borderline unbearable. With the heat and the volume of people coming in and out/shouting orders, it doesn't make for a very enjoyable eating experience.

We got pretty lucky while roaming around and stumbled across what looks to be a new food hall that features a cool looking little ice cream shop called Crescent Ridge. Was I hungry? not really. Did I need ice cream? not at all. Did I order some since I probably won't be back for years? You betcha! I ended up ordering a two scoop cone with some form of cookie monster style ice cream as well as a scoop of double chocolate (or something like that). I was expecting two regular size scoops, but no, this cone was massive and dripping all over my hand (luckily, they offered a little bowl in case it melted to much) and I went to work on this thing. Both of the ice cream flavours were super rich, tasty, and really hit the spot (not of hunger, but of being cold) on a hot and humid New England day. Overall, Crescent Ridge is in the perfect location for grabbing some desert after eating at the food hall. The prices were reasonable, the kids working were great, and the ice cream gets a big thumbs up.

My previous favorite was Amorino, but I think this place is a step above. The texture of the ice cream was superb--exquisitely smooth and creamy, yet not as sticky as Amorino. Coconut: Coconut ice cream in the U.S. is always legendary, but this was the pinnacle of the legendary. The aroma of coconut and milk was the richest I've ever tasted, and it felt very natural, with just the right amount of sweetness. Naked Yogurt: Similar in design to Amorino's Yogurt & 0% Fat Yogurt, both were pure, rich, and unsweetened yogurt, but this one had a more intense milky flavor. Espresso Mascarpone: The signature flavor. The bittersweet aroma of espresso was distinct yet mellow, but the presence of mascarpone cheese is limited. Very refreshing. Other flavors: Pistachio had a rich pistachio flavor and was a safe choice; Tiramisu and Dulce de Leche were both a bit too sweet. From this perspective, Amorino seems to offer a more well-rounded experience, but I still prefer the surprising quality of this place. The sorbets were all decorated with fruit, making them especially beautiful. If you try too many samples, the staff might get a little annoyed. I was reminded after trying the fourth flavor, so I reluctantly stopped.
