This is a great place, and I will definitely visit again to try their other menu items. During my visit, I got the "3 chilate con nuegados de yuca y dulce de platano" (a yuca dumpling and large pieces of sweet plantain in a chilate broth), which was a soup of sorts that came in two dishes, so you could choose your own sweet to savory ratio as you were eating it. The restaurant is quite large with lots of tables. Although a bit dim inside, there are a lot of large windows that let in natural light. The atmosphere is a bit cozy, and the staff is really nice and helpful. I was also very impressed with the multiple cases of fresh baked goods available for purchase at the front pickup/pay station. Overall the ambiance was ok. The traditional drinks like Ensalada, were missing so many ingredients. I had a big party, so we ordered appetizers. We ordered Guacamole and beans. These are very small portions and missing flavor. We also ordered yuca frita. It was ok but was missing overall presentation and most importantly, the yuca was dry. The pork on the side was ok. We all had pupusas, grilled checked and huevos with plantains. For a place in Washington state, I can say they are trying their best. read more

The food here is AMAZING. My partner is from Miami/Nicaragua and we go out of our way to stop here any time we want pupusas. We drive from North Seattle just for Berta's! Great ambiance, true to form for a family-run Salvadoran restaurant. Easy going and nice to hang out in. Free parking and wifi as well! We stopped in for pupusas and everything we tried was excellent. We ordered the loroco, revuelta, and jalapeño pupusas, all freshly made, generously filled, and perfectly cooked. The masa was soft and tender with just the right crisp on the outside, and every bite was packed with flavor. The casamiento was a great side, comforting and well seasoned and both the Salvadoran horchata and tamarindo drinks were refreshing and authentic. The restaurant had a warm, homey feel and was full of locals, which is always a good sign. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. We usually get our pupusas in White Center, but these were honestly our new favorite; bigger, more flavorful, and more filled. It's a bit of a drive for us in Redmond, but it was completely worth it. This is officially our new pupusa spot. read more

This place is AMAZING! Coming from Southern California, I've missed being able to grab pupusas easily. So we've been on the hunt to find a go to place here in the PNW. We have tried out several places here in Seattle but nothing compares to Berta's. The plantains were the best I've ever had! The jalapeño pupusa was spicy, sometimes a rarity up here, and the frijoles were perfectly seasoned. Nothing was greasy, dry, or overcooked -- which has unfortunately become the norm at different restaurants. On top of the amazing food, the servers were kind and attentive. I tried this place because I was interested in what Salvadoran food was all about. I actually love their sausages and their bread. The food was wonderful and different. Some thing I wasn't used to but worth trying anyway I wasn't dissatisfied. I was more like incredibly satisfied I would try this place. What a hidden gem!! They have a big menu, but I had to try the pupusas. Lots of fillings (pork and cheese, shrimp, loroco, spinach and jalapeño, etc) and $4 each. They come out freshly made and piping hot with a side of red salsa and curtido. I had 3, which was a perfect amount for dinner. Less than $15 with tax and tip. Was in Des Moines early day meeting and stopped by a friends place and wanted to go to a place that excepts Bitcoin. Seems perfecto! I felt like I was in El Salvador. The music, the people the food.... Wow! This was a great start to this day and fulfilled with delicious flavors. The chorizo was like no other one I've had before. Almost like a Filipino Longanisa, and it's not sweet. Eggs cooked to perfection. Handmade tortillas like I had in Mexico. Luis who helped serve us and we had great service. I was recommended to try this place by my Maintenance tech. When you see the place it looks like a hole in a wall, but usually these places are the best, sure enough, great pupusas!! Service was easy and quick. She went over the menu with us and recommended yuca con chicharron and we loved it! Since Lily's Pupusas closed, definitely going here moving forward. read more

First time trying Salvadorian food and it was super good. I ordered the carne asada and it was so good with great portions. The service was very fast with amazing customer service. Another plus was the prices. For two meals and two drinks, our meal came out to $41 after tax. I couldn't believe we got such a great deal. Berta's was packed with locals and saw some El Salvatore rugby jerseys so there's no doubt this place is solid El Salvadoran food. They have many of the Salvadoran dishes I can't really appreciate, but this place is a solid place for the Salvadoran experience. I had the Chile relleno that was filled with some ground beef, carrots and onions in a relleno pepper breaded with some egg and deep fried. I was tasty although I missed the cheese in the Mexican versions. It came with rice and beans that were quite good. I found that the food here reminded me of the food in Costa Rica that was all homemade, organic and nothing artificial or out of a can. This is the type of food where you have no food allergies and go home stuffed without getting heartburn. The food here is really good and obviously healthy and I saw a few soups and stews that were very enticing that I'd like to try the next time. This is the absolute best Central American food around. I drive all the way from Downtown Seattle to Burien anytime I'm craving the best pupusas or the best nacatamales I've had since I moved away from my family. You really can't go wrong with anything you try here; from the best brunch in the 'Desayuno Cuscatleco' that generously gives you plantains, chicharron, plantains, beans, crema, yucca, and a pupusa for less than $15 - to the pork nacatamales, pupusas revueltas, and generously portioned sopa de res filled with veggies, beef on the bone, and a deeply healing broth. This place has so much love behind it, is handling all COVID precautions, and you definitely feel the love in the food here. It's tough to compete with Bok a Bok next door and top-rated Burien Fish House also next door, but you definitely need to try Berta's in Burien next time you're looking to venture into Central American food crafted with deep love and care. read more

My sister said this is a must have when in SeaTac. I had the chicken, pork and cheese, chicharon, jalapeño and cheese, spinach and cheese papusas. All of which were delicious. They went well with the slaw and hot sauce which was included. Plenty of space inside. It suggests ordering there in the restaurant opposed to over the phone. The language barrier didn't allow for accuracy. I'd go back though for sure. read more

Pretty good pupusa's in burien about 15-20 minutes away from the airport they offer different flavors of pupusa's and other Salvadoran food. The cabbage slaw is super fresh tons of flavor! Also tons of filling! Nice thing about it is there is a little mini mart and a bok a bok chicken place to fill your meal! But that's another review hahah read more

It's like your grandma personally cooking for you the service is good and they're cautious with covid and made some nice changes to make you feel comfortable. LGBTQ+ Community-STAY AWAY! DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS BUSINESS! Last night, my wife (cisgender woman) and I (transgender man) sat down to eat here. The waiter comes over after a while and literally just STARES at me. Says nothing and just stares at me like I'm some kind of anomaly. I just stare shocked at him like what is the problem? My wife asks if I would rather leave but I sit frozen..and starving. She orders our food. When that same waiter comes back to deliver our food, he proceeds to serve my wife ALL 3 plates of food. Like placing a plate of food in front of me was against his religion or something. The funny thing is we'd been here last year before I began medically transitioning and the waiter was so nice to us, he even sat down next to me in the booth! This was a terrible experience no one who is giving over their hard earned money should have to go through. You are in King county, in the heart of Burien and you behave this way like we don't belong here? Its disgusting at the least and that man shouldn't have a job serving customers. read more
