The waiter comes over after a while and literally just STARES at me. Says nothing and just stares at me like I'm some kind of anomaly. I just stare shocked at him like what is the problem? My wife asks if I would rather leave but I sit frozen..and starving. She orders our food. When that same waiter comes back to deliver our food, he proceeds to serve my wife ALL 3 plates of food. Like placing a plate of food in front of me was against his religion or something. The funny thing is we'd been here last year before I began medically transitioning and the waiter was so nice to us, he even sat down next to me in the booth! This was a terrible experience no one who is giving over their hard earned money should have to go through. You are in King county, in the heart of Burien and you behave this way like we don't belong here? Its disgusting at the least and that man shouldn't have a job serving customers. read more

Wow! Just WOW. There are not enough words to explain how amazing the papusas are here!! When we first entered a little Hispanic lady greeted us and asked if we wanted to eat there or to go. We said to go and ordered 4 chicken papusas for breakfast. She went back and it looks like she may be one of the women who helped make these in the back. We only waited for 15 mins maybe 20 mins top for the order. You could smell the food and it was just awesome, and I couldn't wait to get home and eat these. I tried a couple different platters here. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was actually descent. I tried the creamy chicken with flowers. The flowers are a tropical plant called loroco, from what I understand. It was served with rice and was actually quite flavorful. I also tried a sample platter with fried plantain, yucca fries, a chicken pupussa and tamale. Don't expect spicy food. If you need spice then you will have to ask for hot sauce on the side. It doesn't come with your meal. Most everything was good except the yucca fries were over-cooked and they forgot the cabbage salad. I would still recommend trying this place for a new experience. Really yummy, homey, and traditional. This place is definitely worth the price because the flavor is there and there are lots of options to choose. We came for the pupusas, they had two type of flours, corn and rice. They are both really good the big difference is that the corn are much softer and easier to cut through, the rice are a little harder to chew. But, doesn't take away from the flavor. For an appetizer we ordered fried plantains that came with sour cream and refried beans, so so good!! You'd think the sweet wouldn't really match, but it works! I ordered two revueltas (chicharron, beans, and cheese) and 1 spinach and cheese. Although both were really really good I'll definitely be back and highly recommend the latter. Cheesy yummy goodness!! My boyfriend ordered the same except he also ordered a jalapeño, it was a little spicy not overbearing and also cheesy. The thing that this place NAILED was the tamarind water. Refreshing and made from REAL fruit! We got two refills and they were free! Also, the horchata was not bad either. Had the revueltas which had pork, beans and cheese inside. super disappointing. I came here with my husband and daughter. We ordered and others came in after us and for some reason they ordered after us and received their food at least 10 minutes before us. I'm not sure if it was because they were obviously El Salvadorean and knew them and we weren't. To top it off I have a 4 year old and pupusas usually come with a non spicy salsa. Well supposedly they ran out on the non spicy and could only give us the very spicy! Seriously! Attracted by the excellent reviews of previous reviewers. Haven't eaten much Salvadoran food, so we thought it would be fun. The Pupusas were underwhelming. I usually a HUGE fan of bread products from nearly any cuisine (french bread, naan, you name it). But these were bland and mushy, even the flavored ones. My steak-like entree was okay. My wife's Polla a la crema like entree was rather sour. I suppose the "cream" came solely from sour cream. Wish them well, but we won't be back. read more

We had high hopes based on all the great reviews. The good news first - The papusas are decent. Little dry, very little filling, but good flavor. However... Curtido is SO spicy it was completely inedible for me, and the Salvadorean hubby said it was too spicy and not enough vinegar for true curtido. Chicharons were so overcooked they fell apart as crispy shards which were charred and hard. Finally, while my Spanish isn't perfect, I travel often and easily make due. However, our server would not even attempt to speak with me and defaulted to the Salvadoran hubby. Doesn't seem reasonable in the greater Seattle area. Overall, mediocre. Still looking for Salvadorean food as good as Portland or SanFran. read more
