Their sign about picking up a bucket of trash and getting a free coffee honestly blew my mind. Even little details like having real small towels in the bathroom instead of paper towels show how intentional they are about being eco-friendly. The coffee is also amazing! The setup is unique - it's more of a coffee kiosk attached to a surf shop, with a cute outdoor deck/backyard-style seating area behind it. When I went, most people were grabbing drinks to go, but there are benches where you can hang out and wait. There was a small line, but honestly it makes sense. The assortment in this small space is fantastic! Plus Adriana's lifelong swim expertise (both as a young competitive pool swimmer and a seasoned ocean swimmer) guarantees that she will understand your needs, advise you on nuance of equipment and brands, and help you get in the water, appropriately equipped. But the real synergy comes from Adriana's galvanizing encouragement and positivity! I am a lifelong runner who is just dipping his landlubber toe (see what I did there?) into swimming as my aging joints mount louder and louder complaints about land exercise. I found myself in LJS&S to rent a wetsuit for a swim race I had foolishly signed up for. A triathlete friend said "You have to go to this store and talk to Adriana", which I did. She helped me rent a wetsuit, dissuaded me from buying one until I tried it out (the sign of a caring merchant for sure) and then encouraged me to go swimming with her group at La Jolla Cove. Long story still long, I now swim with her group and realize there is a whole open water community that I know about because of this magical store and its charismatic proprietor. Awesome service and forever grateful to Nicolas - you saved our 1 year anniversary! Amazing service - quick clear instructions, very considerate, warned us about any possible problems explained how to row in the kayak as it was our first time and we had a tandem kayak. After he explained us how to put it in the water and not to roll over, we went and did it first try - no problems. We locked the wheels to the wooden fence so that nobody steels them (they are used to transport the kayak easier so that you don't have to carry it in your hands). We saw the sunset and peaked in the cave which was very exciting. Don't go inside the caves if you are renting on your own as the tides can be very unpredictable and you can roll over or hit the rocks - this is also illegal and only allowed during guided tours. Value point is amazing too. For a tandem it's 35$ (39.22$ with tax) and solo is 30$. All the guided tours were 80$+ and I don't really see the point them if you can go with these guys for only 35$. We did a full one hour but I am not sure how long you can usually go we came pretty late before the closing time. If you want to get the guided tours during the winter times the last ones usually depart at 2:30 so make sure you make it in time!

Sad I only surfed in it like 12 times. It's sad when a company blames the customer rather than their product. I had purchased another Vissla 3/2 thinking they would repair this one or replace it. However, I sent it back. Moving forward Vissla lost a customer. Just got feedback from Mike F. Sad I don't use my elbows to pop up so how come it's delaminating already again blaming the customer on your sub par product. I shouldn't have to pay for the repair you should repair it for free. Hope this sheds some light on how Vissla is doing business. I had a rip curl 3/2 3 years old that didn't have these issues till the end. No thanks I'll spread the word on this grift. Also Vissla scrubs their reviews on their website so you can't leave a bad review they took mine down. Shady!
