I went in for my service appointment for my laptop. I suspected my battery was not working properly anymore, and that's what I had brought it in for. When I got there, the staff were friendly, but mentioned they do not order batteries for you. They told me to just order the battery on a website like Amazon and I can make another appointment for them to replace it. I wish they would've just told me that they don't have batteries on hand. I would've just ordered the battery and saved myself a trip out there. I ended up having a neighbor who is a retired computer guy, help me replace the battery which saved me 60 bucks. They told me I also needed a new laptop because mine was over four years old. I don't see myself coming back to Best Buy in the future. read more

Finally approached one of the three people working in the entire store to inquire about a tv, asked if we could turn sound on to hear the quality. Employee stated there were no remotes and no way to turn the sound on unless it was part of a "display". Ended up finding a tv in a box and waking to the check stand with it. No checkers at the front. It's a Samsung TV and we've had great experiences in the past so hoping due to lack of help we don't have an issues once we get home. Looked at dryers as well since we need to upgrade/replace but I don't think I'd come back to give them my business. read more

Shane in the service department was rude when it came to the installation of the remote start, we purchased. He was short, inconsiderate, and apparently incompetent. Our remote start is shorting out the ignition switch, and making our automatic lights turn on and off now at random. We had a check engine light come on the next day, and a shop pulled the code and it turned out to be a low voltage to the ignition switch, and it took a couple hours of diagnosing to locate the short. It was done poorly, and getting ahold of a human at the store is impossible without driving all the way back to the store to approach them in person. read more

Absolutely screwed up the Nintendo Switch 2 midnight release. I get that there were a ton of people in line, but it was so slow. Then they turned away over 100 people at midnight. We placed an order for an item for pickup. The store said it was in stock, and after spending $200 they then told me after I showed up to pick it up they were shipping in from another location. They said it would take no more than a day, and after a week it still has not arrived. I tried calling their location to figure out how something so simple has taken longer than they agreed to. It's really disheartening how long I am going to have to wait for my TV and soundbar. I ordered the entire package on Black Friday and scheduled a delivery to be delivered halfway into December (today). First of all, they told me the first TV I wanted wasn't in stock so they referred me to another one that was in stock. So why did my scheduled delivery get cancelled for today? Now I have to wait around for the delivery on the 23rd -- oh, and that is exactly what I want to be doing for my birthday. Secondly, it's not going to do me any good to have this large TV set up without the soundbar I purchased to go with it. They say they can't get it installed in my home until Valentine's Day! Very disappointed in Best Buy right now. I purchased a car stereo for my son for Christmas because their website offered free installation. There were no asterisks with exceptions. I even took a screenshot of it because I wanted to make sure it was honored. I had looked at several deals on Cyber Monday and went with this one just due to the installation. When I tried to schedule the install, the store refused to honor the deal. They just said that I could return it if I wanted to. Normally, that would be ok, but in reality it screwed me out of all of the other deals I would have gotten that were no longer available. It is just poor management. This is a ridiculously easy installation and requires no modifications or even dash panel removal. It would take an installer 15 minutes at most. I will end up installing it myself and never shopping here again. So, basically, for the cost of $15 in shop time they will lose all my future laptops, TVs, headphones etc. purchases. I would never do business that uses bait and switch tactics. It makes me distrust everything that they do. read more

I didn't think to call since I was in the area, but when I walked in the store and started searching for this item, I couldn't find it anywhere. I had to go back up to the front of the store since I couldn't find a best buy rep to help and asked him if they had any in stock. He checked and informed me that they were completely out and the website was wrong, but Orem location did have plenty in stock. If I wasn't in the area it would have been a 30 minute drive out of my way (one way) to find out they don't have the item in stock. I ordered a Nintendo switch on February 14 and the app said it would be delivered to the store on February 19 for pick up. I called the store on February 19 at 5o'clock and sat on hold for about 20 minutes before someone picked up. After then getting to speak with somebody I asked where my order was because it is 5 o'clock on a Friday night when I was supposed to be able to pick it up this morning. And after speaking with the lady she said "oh it's being shipped from another delivery center it's going to be about four days until they get it because it was just shipped yesterday, February 18. So unfortunately you won't be able to pick it up at the desired time that they gave you." They didn't send me an email nor did they call me and let me know that the order had been delayed so I then wondered did they sell it to someone else in store or what happened to the order? It is very frustrating to know that Best Buy couldn't communicate with me that the order had to be shipped from another facility and that it was going to take more than two days to get here especially when I ordered it over five days ago. read more

BEST BUY NO LONGER OFFERS VETERAN DISCOUNTS. The other day I went to the store in AF and I wanted to buy a canon camera lens. The price was a bit high, compared to what I could find elsewhere on line (Amazon always beats Best Buy!) and what caught my interest was while doing a google search, I noticed that it said Best Buy offers Military Veteran discounts--15%--on purchases. So, since I am an Army Vet, I proceeded to make the lens purchase. I provided my driver's license, which has "Veteran" stamped on it, and I was told Best Buy no longer provides Veteran discounts. I called customer service and I was told the same thing, "We no longer offer Veteran Discounts." Many places offer Vet discounts. Many do not. That's fine. But, for some reason the fact that Best Buy says they offer Vet discounts on line and now they no longer do, it just bothered me. I didn't buy the lens. I'll buy it somewhere else--but not from Best Buy. Just as their policy recently changed, so has mine about shopping at Best Buy. Just so Best Buy understands how I feel, might I remind their board of directors the following: "A veteran is someone who, at one point in their life wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America," for an amount up to and including their life." Purchased a fridge, which was never delivered (no call, no show) so I called customer support which said there was an issue and rescheduled me. Waited until delivery until again another no call, no show. I called again and they rescheduled me - again, no call, no show. 5 failed delivery attempts with no answer as to why. They just beat around the bush and wouldn't transfer me to a manager. Finally someone says the manager will call me and they documented our conversation. Then guess what? Manager never called me. So here I am, no fridge, no manager call, no answer. And refund? It's been a week and I still haven't seen it after they "cancelled" my delivery and acted like it was never placed in the first place. I hope Best Buy sees this review and reaches out. Very disappointed with how I was treated, the lies, the lack of responsibility on their end. Call me. I'm waiting. Never go to this store again. Now the store is very cool but I had a terrible encounter with Laney an employee... This guy had such an attitude I don't know but stress is all over this guys face and he was bothered when I was passed buy 3 employees he's a manager looking dude and I asked him where a game was for my son. I went to the Orem location they had none and suggested I drive here because they called and have them I went looked around couldn't find it and that's where o asked LANEY bothered he huffed and puffed then asked what and said there was only 4 and he'd go look... Great well he comes back I and what a terrible attitude when I had 2 accounts on file.. I asked to check one and he said NO and to take it up with corporate... I had enough I asked for the manager and wanted him to go with me so he heard what I would say in front of him... he hummed to himself and was rude walked away I talked to Mitch the manager explained the situation and there was absolutely no problem for him to look at both acts for a warrant question I had... If you want your orders completely screwed up, if you want to be treated rudely by a bunch of bumper-car clowns, and if you want Best Buy to claim that your card didn't go through, only to find out when you get home that it did, so you paid for a product you never received, then go to this den of incompetent buffoonery. I went in today to preorder an item and was told they would not price match and that they price match "on a case by case basis". Nowhere on the website does it say Best Buy gets to pick and choose who they'll price match for. I've done a lot of business with Best Buy over the years and have preordered items multiple times before and they price matched without giving me an issues. The manger, Mitch, was rude and just kept repeating that they "price match on a case by case basis". This is the worst experience I've had with Best Buy. It's disappointing to know that I've done a lot of business with them over the years, and have spent a lot of money, then to be treated like that...it's not right. Damon at this Best Buy store is amazing. He has helped me purchase a 65" TV, then recently a dishwasher to replace a broken one. He takes the time to explain everything about the products, answers every question, never gets impatient, gives me all the time I need to make a decision. He figures out which product best fits my needs. He runs price checks, makes suggestions-he is just the best. I went here to buy the dishwasher multiple times with nobody helping me and me knowing zero about buying a dishwasher. The "supervisors" are either not empowered or just not willing to help to resolve customer complaints and the General Manager will never return a call or email. I ended up reaching out to the corporate office via a BBB complaint and they supposedly spoke with the store who lied to them about their response when I was in the store with a complaint. I took my wife in to get her an iPad. We found a employee and asked for help. He told us he was in the middle of something and he would have someone else come to help us as soon as possible. 25 minutes later, an employee sees us standing around and asked us if we needed any assistance. He had no idea we were waiting for an employee. After he helped us get everything we asked for, I asked if we were forgetting anything. He mentioned a screen protector and told us that they could install it for us. We agreed and payed. He informed me that I just needed to go to the Geek squad counter and they would take care of it. We go to the counter and the employee said that he was busy and for us to ask a Best Buy employee for help. So we did. They informed us that if we waited in their phone section, someone would be with us soon. So we went and waited. The employee shows up and does not say a word to us. He goes and starts helping another customer. We continued to wait and wait. He did not say a word to us. After 30 minutes of no assistance, we went to get a refund on the screen protector and install. It's a little unfair to mark down Best Buy over one bad incident. While Best Buy may be far from perfect for what it is they do a great job. When you want a large selection of electronics products at good prices it's hard to beat the convenience and inventory available at your local Best Buy. Is customer service sometimes lacking? Sure. But thats probably true of any place that employs mostly high school and college students. My advice is do your research in advance and then go into Best Buy knowing what you want. If they have the product you want at a price you're happy with do yourself one better and order it from BestBuy.com. I had purchased some headphones from the Best Buy in Murray and along with them I purchased the warranty that was offered, which I had asked if it covered accidental damage (like from a pet) and they said yes it would. So I had my headphone for a while and my pet chomped on the cable. I took them back to Murray, explained what happened and BAM! they gave me a brand new pair and I paid for another warranty on the new pair. Well about a year later guess what happened again.... chomp. So I took them to the American Fork location that is by my work and went in to exchange them as I had in the past, but this time the fellow at the CS desk turned me away. He didn't even look up my account or anything. He just told me that the warranty that I bought, which was suppose to cover accidental damage, did not cover accidental damage and that the people that swapped it in the past should never have done that for me. This got me pretty irritated since he never even looked up the coverage I purchased, nor did he even try to acknowledge my issue other than it wasn't his problem to deal with. I told him I would go to another location and speak with someone that would actually be helpful. So I stopped at the Sandy location on my way home and went to the CS desk and the lady at the desk asked how she could help. I related the same issue to her. She then looked up my account and asked me to get another pair and swapped them out for me, as easy as that. I do not know what the dude at the AF locations issue was, but he certainly should not be assisting people in a customer service atmosphere. I am usually pretty good at giving people a break in CS jobs since I do that myself, but this guy was one of the worst I have dealt with in years. If you do need to go to a Best Buy, I would recommend not going to the AF location and instead heading up to Sandy. They actually have helpful staff. read more

Go see the guy in TVs... that is what I was told. As I searched the store for a HDMI adapter cable a nice guy in the computer department offered to help me. When he determined what adapter I needed, he told me to go see the short plump guy in TVs. When I walked over to TVs I could sense he had no interest in helping me. When I asked about the adapter he told me to go back to computers. He tried arguing with me about where I should be in the store. I told him I could find it myself. I literally walked to the next aisle (about 15ft from the TV guy) I have no idea why the guy didn't want to help me.
