I rarely write reviews for department stores but this is the second time I have a bad experience. The cashier proceeded to have an attitude with me when I asked him a simple question. When he first came to the register he didn't even say hello even though I said hi how are you. Fine. He gave me an attitude when I asked him why he needed to scan my coupon twice - I was simply curious. He immediately raised his voice and talk to me like I was a child. Then when he finalized the transaction I was waiting for him to say thank you have a good night, but nope nothing. So I decided to be the bigger person and say thank you good night - he didn't even answer and walked away. Poor poor customer service. read more

This is a review of their horrible customer service and geek squad. I went to this branch yesterday because I have a laptop with a missing key and i needed the new one put on. (it was a fiddly key with tiny parts and i got big fingers, cut me some slack.) I take it to Steve the Geek Squad guy, he spends 30 minutes on it, comes back and tells me he snapped the tip of the key. So this is annoying but accidents happen, right? I figure I'll be on my way and ask for the 8 dollars I'd paid for the key. They refuse. They said they aren't liable for damages. Damages THEY caused. Not to mention I never at any point signed anything absolving them of responsibility. So Steve the Geek Squad guy calls his manager over because I am getting irritated. The manager asks if the key was going to be put in for free and I said no, I was going to pay like 30 bucks for it. Then the manager says that 30 was for labor and I can just deduct the cost of the key from it. In other words, he said I should pay them 22 dollars for wasting 40 minutes of my time and breaking my property. I just said screw it, walked out, called corporate and filed a complaint. Obviously didn't pay them anything. But just a warning, stay the hell away from their Geek Squad unless you want to pay for incompetence. read more

I went In the other day to finally get my long awaited fridge. As I have went in a couple of time by with my luck there was no sale associate in the appliance deportment. Finally I went in on Wednesday low and behold there was a friendly sales associate there. He explained to be the difference between the two fridges that I was looking at. With no hesitation I told him that I will get the Samsung brand. I put everything on my best buy card I the the 18 months no interest to boot. Can't complain about that. Now on to the delivery service. Wow they were early they scheduled me for a window of 9am-11am They came at around 8:30am. Again there were about 5 guys that came all were fast and friendly. they haulded my old fridge back and popped in my new one Job done. Can I be so lucky to have good service like that. ! ! We bought a TV here, got it delivered, but the installers told me they couldn't install it because it was missing screws. It was an open box product with the label "No missing accessories" so how could that be possible? Maybe the store made a mistake? We called and they told us they had extra screws we could pick up, so we did, but they were the wrong kind. It turns out that the screws were in the box the whole time, but the installers never even looked. Turns out, the installers (Victor and Francisco, according to the paper) straight up lied to us and said it was missing screws so they didn't have to put it together for us. Totally unethical and irresponsible. Who hires and trains these guys anyway? And who makes their "valuable" customers call multiple support centers, run back and forth across town, and basically wastes their time without any sort of compensation? Don't do business with Best Buy, at this location or any other ones. read more

I work in retail so i am pretty understanding, but i cant even begin to describe to you about the service i received... Why? Oh yeah thats right, i didn't even receive any to begin with. I don't know if these magnolia guys make commission or not but I'm pretty sure those $1500 bowers and wilkins speakers (cm5) i wanted to get was going to make a salesman's night, and all i needed was for one of them to bring it to me. I even verified before coming that they indeed had these speakers in stock. I was literally standing in the demo room testing the speakers out for 30 minutes while 3 workers walked by without even acknowledging me. I guess just because I'm young i couldn't possibly afford these speakers that i am wasting my time testing out. I research all my shit before i go and buy it, i don't need any convincing, i just need you to go to the back and bring it out to me, how hard is that? Its all good, took my money elsewhere. By far the worst geek squad any best buy can have they are rude and unprofessional I went there to pick up my computer. And one of the techs threw a fit for me crossing the red line I apologized and let her know why I was the to pick up my computer and she started shouting at me as if I had broken some law and started to get on the phone and call security so I realized she has some major issues and asked to speak to the manager Kevin was the gentleman that came and calmed the situation down very politely and professionally (thank you Kevin) And for the crazy chick I hope the talk to her and let her know not to get hysterical. read more

Oh 142, you really are the best in blue :) My history with this best buy goes a looooooooooooong way back. My brother used to work here [circa 1999-2005ish?] so they automatically earned my business... but its the exceptional customer service that i've received here over the years, well that's what keeps me coming. My first big purchase was an auto-start thingy for my old Jeep. In case you didn't figure it out based on that description, I'm not very tech-savy. My brother had gotten an auto-start thing for his car and he suggested that I get one as well... My car was pretty new [I'd say no more than 6 months old] at the time, so i didn't really like the idea of ppl messing with it... Nathan from the auto department was wonderful! Not only did he install it within 2 hours, but you couldn't even tell that they had opened any of the paneling. And I never had any problems with it... In 2006, I came here and bought my first ipod... the reps not only sold me my ipod, they recommended the accessories and [thank goodness] the service plan that was best for me. They were really honest, telling me that i didn't need to buy the plug in charger because it charges while you're syncing it... but suggesting that i get the service plan because it will cover ANYTHING that happens to my ipod... They did the same thing when i bought my xbox360... Most recently, I had to bring in my xbox 360 because i got the "red ring of death"... i had no idea if i had bought the replacement plan [because i had gotten it swapped out at least two times already, and you have to buy a new service plan each time you get it replaced].... the customer service rep went out of his way to do the research and replaced our unit the same day. This review is strictly for BRANDON in the install bay. I was having some problems with my alarm [viper 5901] and i didn't know the reason. The parking lights were not flashing when locking/unlocking the car and the remote start was no longer working after changing my battery. All other best buys were quoting me that it would take about an hour to fix @ like $60/hr. I took it to brandon and i was in and out of the show in about 15 mins. He was able to fix all the problems as well as setting up the security features that the installer did not do (car will die when pressing the brake without the key in remote start feature). After all of this it was still much a better experience than going to any other BB. A couple weeks later I actually lost the 2-way pager remote to my alarm and was having trouble programming a new one that i purchased on amazon. I couldn't get the remote to pair and read online that the brain might be locked. Took it to brandon again, and again, he fixed it in a matter of minutes even while the other best buys said it would be $60 to fix it even after i told them that the brain just needs to be unlocked with the bit-writer. Brandon is honest, fast, and awesome. I was always go to brandon in the install bay for any of my alarm or mobile install needs! THANKS BRANDON! read more

I really like this BestBuy, it is really close to my house, so this is where I always come for all my electronics! This last purchase, I bought my mom a new iPad and I have nothing bad to say about their service! They were very helpful and made sure I was set with everything I needed! I also purchased my iPhone 5s through them, because they were having a sale. It was actually cheaper to buy through bestbuy than it was to buy through verizon. Again, the transaction was simple and easy! My only issue with them is when they get you for adding on insurance/bestbuy warranty/ their geek protection. I never seen to need it and when I do, the time has expired. So it's pointless!!! Don't do it :)! read more

I just bought a home and for some reason, this Best Buy became my favorite store! In my latest experience, I went refridgerator shopping. I went to Lowes first and found this fridge that I had also seen at Best Buy previously. When I had asked the sales associate a few questions, you could tell he was BS'in and didn't know what the hell he was talkin about. Lowes just lost a customer that day. I head back over to Best Buy. The sales associates are so friendly and SUPER knowledgable. They really know what they are talking about. They are there to give you suggestions and recommendations, without pressuring you to make a purchase (they don't get paid commission). So, what you get is FULL ON, excellent customer service!! I love their Geek Squad Protection Plan. You can choose the 3-year or 5-year protection plan. Basically, within your term, if you have merchandise that needs servicing, a Geek Squad pro will come to your house and repair it. If you have to get it serviced 3 times, on the 4th time, they will replace the WHOLE thing for you. You can now make a big purchase without the worry of your item breaking down because they will take care of you! They also price-match so if you find an item somewhere else for a lower price, they will match the price for you. I always see lower prices at Frys, Sears and Lowes, but always ask Best Buy to price match - then i can take advantage of their Geek Squad Protection Plan. Holler! read more

I've been to a lot of Best Buys and I absolutely hate when I cannot find an employee to help me out. I get especially upset if I see them just chatting away with their co-workers, which happens A LOT. However, at this Best Buy, I'm always greeted quickly and asked if I need help almost instantly. I came here a couple days ago and although I did not get what I needed, I was very satisfied with their customer service. Every department I went to had an employee waiting to assist me. The last time I purchased something from here, it was 2 Samsung HDTV's. The employees in the Home Theater section are awesome. They are very knowledgeable and helped me out a little on the prices since I was purchasing one open-box item. (Quick Tip: Never purchase an open-box item if you don't intend to get their 4-year warranty. I got a horrible open box JVC tv several years ago and BB gladly swapped it for a Samsung--of course I called tech support 2983479 times before they finally swapped but at least I got a new and better TV!) I recommend coming to this Best Buy than any other in the East or South Bay. read more

It's hard for me to review this place because I love some parts of it so much. Geek Squad is just a waste of money in my opinion...don't get me wrong these guys know what they're doing, it's just overpriced. I paid $200 for them to fix my desktop, only for it to break with the exact same problem less than a year later. I like the people at this particular branch. You can usually find me in the videogame/media section. The people in these areas are typically very friendly. Everytime I go there associates from other locations are pretty helpful as well...I'm used to extreme customer service having a background in hospitality...so I get a little disappointed when some associates don't ask if I need any help. They are more than willing to assist me when I ask them though. You get the occasional person who you know doesn't know what he's talking about but that's to be expected. The customer service/returns area is great too. Usually these people are mean and/or rude but everytime I'd have to go there they've been accommodating. Since Best Buy and Fry's are the closest things to me I choose Best Buy...the customer service is like that of the Ritz Carlton compared to Fry's. I forget his name but the big cashier with the huge hair is awesome. He's a little unprofessional but he makes you feel welcome. read more

I can not say good enough for this place. Used to go to frys but the sales people there were rude and pushy. They also did not know a lot about the products I wanted to buy, btw their warranty sucks! I purchased a PC from Best Buy a few months ago and decided NOT to buy an extended warranty. So it Broke! Boo, but the service desk supervisor was very nice and explained to me what options I had with my manufacture warranty. I guess the manufacture dont fix my model so he got me an exchange the same night. I was very pleased and of course I bought the warranty for my new PC, hopefully it doesnt break this time. I paid them to transfer my music to the new computer and they finished it really fast. Ty the tech guy was really patient and shoed me how to work the new webcam. This review is predominantly due to two things: they answered the phone!...and Best Buy Mobile here was really helpful. First of all, I wanted to replace my 3GS and I wanted to see which stores had the iPhone 4 available. Called Santana Row...no one picked up. Called The Plant...got placed on hold for ten minutes and hung up. It was getting ridiculous so I had to pause and breathe for a few minutes. So finally called the Milpitas location, someone actually picked up within a minute?...hot damn! Dare I ask them if she can help me ask Mobile if they have the iPhone that I want? She put me on hold...and she returned and said "yes". When I got there, Khayla from BB Mobile helped to set me up and despite her having some equipment issues to process my order and an influx of customers lining up(8pm? Really?), she got me set up and asked all the questions and walked me through the process patiently. If you want to get an iPhone, call here to find out if your phone is here because, hey!, they answer the phone when you call and will tell you if the phone you want is here! That's a piece of customer service that many of us can take for granted and I won't forget my positive experience here. read more

I have a love and hate about this place. I love the fact that I could find what I need here and that the return policy is quite easy and none of this restocking fee because something is broken B.S. They are pretty knowledgeable I have to agreee but definitely helpful as well. I was going there to get my car stereo installed and they were short installers so the sales rep called Satan's Row location to get me an appointment without me even asking. I thought that deserved brownie points...But maybe its because I was wearing my Johnson shorts and some patent leather pumps and thats why I didn't have to ask. I came here to make my final decision buying a plasma TV, so I decided to check out "the wall" at the Best Buy near my house. As soon as you walk in, a friendly person will greet you. The staff wearign blue, as well as the Magnolia staff near the TV's were very knowledgable on plasma tv's and answered all my questions very well. My girlfriend liked the Pioneer due to its glossy black frame, so we choose the 4271 model. Setting up the delivery and payment was a breeze. Peter, was the person in Magnolia taking care of us, and he was excellent. Informed us how the delivery was going to go down and made our lives very easy. On another day, I went to go buy a Wii game. The cashier guy saw I was buying a Wii, he was a Wii owner as well. Very friendly fun conversation. Leaving the store, the greeter will also say his bye. Overall, very pleasant atmosphere, staff with good technical knowledge, friendly and the store layout was the basic BB, but very clean. read more

If you plan to have your stereo installed here i would not give them the chance if you love your car. I had speakers installed in the front doors of my vehicle. One day i heard this horrible rattling. So i took the time to remove the drivers door panel and found the speaker had FELL OUT. They never bothered to screw it into the mounting plate. They just ran the screws on the outside of it at angles so it was held in place that way. I think because the screws didn't line up exactly right. But i simply took my screwdriver and ran all the screws in at a different location and it worked just fine. I took the passenger side door off to see if it was the same way but no that side was done the way i had done the drivers side. Its as if they had someone experience working on one side and someone that didn't know anything about cars on the other side. I took it to them to have them do the install and payed them a lot because i thought they would do a professional job. read more

Purchased a GoPro cam the other day and not only was the sales rep condescending but after trying to tell us we NEED a memory card to record (which we knew but was debating buying it elsewhere for a better price) he sold us the wrong one... Uh hem, he was slightly helpful eventually but wasn't customer service friendly at all. We inquired around the store, who's the manager? The staff here is always nice, and random people do ask me how I'm doing or if I need help looking for something...most of the time I say I'm good and go on my way shopping. Today however, I accepted the help and asked if they had Apple ear buds. The guy who helped me was like, "Yeah but they are way over-priced at 40.00.." So I asked, "Are there better ones for less?" He then walked over with me to the earphone aisle and suggested that I try the Skull Candy brand earphones...he went on telling me how they are great and how they fit better. I was sold. I took my oldest daughter here to buy her a laptop for college and we received great service and advice. I hope I am remembering the name of the young man that helped us. We were there today 8/14 at 6:30ish and were helped by "Brandon" (I think this was his name). In case I'm incorrect, he was a younger possibly African American man with green or bluish eyes. I hope management knows who I am talking about. Anyway, I come from a hi tech background, but am the last person you'd ever want with you when buying a computer. So Sarah and I braved Fry's together at first, and left shortly after arriving realizing we should have just started at Best Buy. We were looking around when "Brandon" (gosh, I so hope I have the correct name) offered us his assistance but not in an intrusive way. When we walked into Fry's I felt like we were being preyed on whereas Brandon didn't give us this feeling at all. We had narrowed it down to about eight computers and he slowly helped us narrow it down to the final one that we did end up buying. He even took the time to help us find the right sleeve for it. With this type of assistance from such a polite young man, we will definitely shop here again. I hope he is a candidate for a supervisor's job or perhaps a trainer as he did everything you'd want an employee to do and is definitely a model of how you should treat customers. Given the new technology circulating in this Best Buy, you'd think they'd get a new remodel or get with the times. For as long as I can remember, the layout has remained entirely the same, making nothing outright pop out to you or making the sections any easier to maneuver. Since the anime section had been reduced some time ago, I would only go to Best Buy if I absolutely HAD to. Best Buy , isn't really the BEST buy considering prices aren't matched or are incredibly high. (Can I get a $30 knock off charger anybody?) The atmosphere feels a bit dark and gloomy, making it feel a bit dreary to go in and look at anything except rushing out with a gift card! Customer service, however, is very nice as they do reach out to you and welcome you. But it seems as though you aren't bothered with unless A. you're getting a phone B. You're eyeing the Apple station a little too long making you a red flag shopper. I would like to give them more stars, but it feels like a very dated store lacking the options or displays that can really keep a crowd coming. Simplicity is key, and some aisles are harder to find than others. Hopefully I can return to this review with a higher rated update. read more

I love this place. My first experience here started off bad. I went in looking at Beats By Dre, and was comparing Studio and Pro. I asked an associate what the differences were, and here's what he said: "I could tell you one is better than the other, but really the only difference is the way they fold." _ Really? You're telling me you guys charge $200 extra because one FOLDS differently? Later, a manager in a black button-up came by and was very helpful. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: My second experience was much better. I came in after seeing a good deal on their website for a Canon EOS Rebel T5i. Again, a manager in a black button-up shirt helped me out. They had a different deal being advertised in-store that wasn't as good, but upon request, he honored the online deal anyway. On top of that, he gave me a $55 bag, an instructional DVD, and a 8gb SanDisk memory card for $50. AND he gave me 10% off on some additional accessories I picked out. All in all, he was extremely helpful, answered all questions, and was very nice. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: My third experience, today, I went in looking for a small day-bag for my camera, and a Lens-Cleaning Pen. I had to wait a while before I was helped (which is somewhat understandable since they were a little busy) but eventually, once again, a manager in a black button-up asked if I needed help with something. I told him what I was looking for, and he helped me find what I needed. He also price-matched the LensPen, and gave me 10% off on the new bag. I used the $25 gift certificate I earned through their Rewards program when I bought the camera so I ended up spending only $9 for over $35 worth of stuff. With the extra money in my pocket, I ended up price-matching an $85 Canon battery for $45. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: BOTTOM LINE: Try and get the guys in the black button-up shirt! I have been to several of the Best Buy's stores and this is one of the better ones. I do enjoy when the door opens they do great you with a hello or welcoming, I know this is more for security purposes, but it is nice to know you are greated here. I was here with two of my younger boys and one of the sales associates was talking with one of my boys about IPad and DSi systems, and he was talking with him and not talking down to him which was nice to see, because my son was keeping up with that conversion. The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is when I was in the Auto Installation area, there were no sales associates to answer a question I had, but then I did finally find what I was looking for. I know we are all trying to save money in different ways, but if you are short in sales associates, then you might want to hire a few more to make sure your customers are being helped, and yes I did walk out of the store without purchasing anything, and did some research on-line. read more

Dang this place is hella fun. They got all the game systems set up so you can play. Hahah like you can go in the store and play rock band for hours. Well if you don't mind being seen by a lot of people. They have the Wii, ps3, and xbox 360 set up on HD tvs. BUt like they have multiple xboxes and ps3s set up. So more than 1 game and like multiple people can play. They have some good deals here too. Just gotta check once in a while. Like this location is very convenient. Right next to in-n-out and Jamba Juice. How much better can it get? Well anyways like they sell everything here. Ipods, Zunes, GPS, camera, games Game systems, They sell TVs and they even have a binder that is shows how people set up their HDtvs in their home. Sort of like a model home. Like they show examples of where they put tvs. They also sell soundsystems and everything you need for home entertainment. I really like this best buy. This is the only one i really go to. read more

So,its like this... I havent bought anything from this store in quite some time,to be honest. The last thing that I ended up getting was a gift from my lady,which was HalloweeN on blu ray,and it was $29.99.A few weeks ago,we find it at Wal Mart for $10. With other options out there for music and movies,there is no need for me to frequent Best Buy and their overpriced items. Anyhow,I was out comp shopping for a new tv and this place was on my hit list.And I found one that I liked,too.It was a 47" (the brand of the name I forget,but I believe it was Magnavox or Sony). After waiting what seemed to be an eternity for help in the tv department,one of the men in blue who works there finally came over only to tell me that the tv I was interested in was sold out. Now,I'm a guy who knows what he wants.I'm also a guy who knows what he doesnt want.And,the sales rep was trying to make a sale and sell me something else that I wasnt interested in.He started telling me that the tv I selected I could wait for and get a raincheck in a week or whenever it comes in.Or,I could just buy a better tv than that,telling me the model I liked wasnt very good compared to some of the others in the store.Like,WTF? I started walking away at that point.As he walked down the aisle with me,trying to sell me something,not knowing I was headed for the door.And luckily for me,I found a bigger,cheaper tv on sale at Target. read more

Very upset! My boyfriend gifted me an Ember coffee cup for Christmas which I've been wanting for a while now. I was very excited until I realized the battery wasn't functioning properly. I charged it fully and by the time I wanted to use, it said it had no battery. Anyway, I went to my local Best Buy to try and return it (without recite). The guy helping us out was supper kind and helpful. He wanted to help out but since we didn't buy it there and it was bought cash, he couldn't look up the transaction. He recommended us to go to this Best Buy or to Contact Ember. We ended up going to this Best Buy where my boyfriend bought it. The customer service guy was really rude, he said he couldn't do anything, didn't bother to try and help. We then asked what we can do. He said "I don't know whatever you want to do". Instead of recommending us to contact Ember or offering another solution. Do not recommend this Best Buy, horrible customer service. read more

I went in yesterday and saw that prices went up on the washer and dryer. Then I tried to ask if I could still get the sale price I saw 2 days ago. I kinda knew that it might not be possible, but I get a comment from the manager(?) saying that he can't do that because he's trying to make a 'smart financial decision for Best Buy'. So good luck on doing that because for sure I will make my decision to not shop here ever again. On the other hand, another staff(PePe) helped us and he's really nice. He tried to explain how we could get a 10% coupon by letting Best Buy know that I'm moving to a new home. If we weren't helped by PePe, I would have given 0/5 stars. read more

OK, I don't really shop at Best Buy. Haven't for years. However, I did get a gift certificate over Christmas so I had to trek on over. All staff was very polite. I walked in and asked where the gift card section was. I was pleasantly pointed in the right direction, picked up and Amazon GC and proceed to the checkout, where I purchased the Amazon GC with my Best Buy one. The guy at the counter didn't even flinch. He was very friendly (and probably understanding) and I was in and out in just a few minutes max. Sure, I might not have wanted to shop here, but I ended up happy with what I wanted and my fast experience here was a good one. read more

This place still sucks. It's pretty obvious why the company is going down in shambles. It took 2 people to have a discussion on WHO was going to help me find a DVD. I literally sat there engaged in pointless conversations... No DVD, because it listed 1 in the computer and "it was probably stolen." HORRIBLE. When it comes to trying to buy something, it is obvi is NOT the best. The end. read more
