In mid-July, my husband and I bought an open-box Samsung Bespoke white refrigerator at Best Buy in Rockaway. Our salesperson, Eric, was knowledgeable and patient, which made the experience positive. We left feeling good about our purchase and scheduled delivery for a week later. That's where the nightmare began. We received multiple confirmations for our fridge delivery scheduled for the following week between 9 AM and 1 PM. On delivery day, we got a text saying it would arrive at 2:20 PM, but twenty minutes later, we were informed it was canceled with no explanation. After spending the weekend on the phone with Best Buy customer service, no one could clarify the situation. We had already been two weeks without a fridge and were desperate. Another week passed, and again we were excited for delivery, only to receive another cancellation text. A customer service rep called and, due to a heavy accent, all we understood was: "No fridge, you must buy a new one." My husband finally reached someone in corporate sales, and we learned the truth: the delivery company had damaged our fridge. Best Buy had stalled for TWO WEEKS instead of being honest with us. We returned to the store and spoke with Eric and Sean, the store manager, who was professional and frustrated with corporate. He called corporate for us, but all they offered was $150 for our troubles. We spent over $1,000 on a fridge that was broken before delivery, waited weeks without one, and received nothing but lies. All we wanted was the fridge we purchased. Instead, Best Buy's corporate team left us without a refrigerator, failed to communicate honestly, and offered an insulting $150 for the inconvenience we faced. The only reason I'm not giving zero stars to the Rockaway location is that Eric and Sean went above and beyond to help fix what corporate destroyed. Unfortunately, Best Buy corporate and their delivery partner have lost my trust forever. I will never purchase a major appliance from them again. Update: I have never been so frustrated with a company in my life. After weeks of going back and forth with Best Buy and their incompetent delivery company, I finally gave up on the fridge I originally purchased and settled for a lesser model just to get something. We waited ANOTHER week for delivery--only for them to pull the same garbage again: cancelled 30 minutes before it was supposed to arrive. That's now FOUR Saturdays in a row they've scheduled and then canceled at the last minute. I've been over a month without a working fridge, my blood pressure is through the roof, my patience is gone, and apparently I can't even get my money back--so I'm stuck with Best Buy. I'm not gonna leave a long review because I don't have enough words to describe how great the service was at geek squad at the Best Buy in Rockaway NJ. I had not backed up my computer in a few months which I normally do then all of a sudden I got corrupted files on the hard drive and long story short they were able to put in a new drive reinstall windows. The hard drive had to go out to secondary recovery and they actually recovered every single file and it's original format and state and I was absolutely impressed. I have to tell you the geek squad at the Best Buy in Rockaway Mall is just Superb and I actually got the technician was so good. He actually upgraded my basic membership to all inclusive for like $179 and this cost me nothing except the data recovery absolutely amazing. read more

Went to Best Buy in Rockaway, New Jersey was looking for a cable UBC - C to lightning, which means it adapts to my car and then to the phone, after looking for help, which is totally impossible, I asked a sales person who seemed to be very occupied playing games on his phone, as opposed to helping customers, asking him if he could help me, he proceeds to tell me they don't make such a thing, I said I think that's incorrect, as he stopped, helping me, I went on my own in the store and lo and behold guess what I found the cable, I brought it up to him and told him I was sorry to inconvenience him as he was playing his game once again on his phone and showed him that they did in fact make them, and the store in fact carried them, with that being said I told him I'm not gonna buy it on general principal that he was not able to help me so all in all Best Buy lost $35 in a sale! So on 09/19 went to the rockaway store where I purchased the dryer and spoke with the manager. He seemed pretty competent and told me that he would take care of the issue and someone would get in touch with me the next day........it's now the next day and no one has had the decency to call me with an update! At this point I can't recommend Best Buy for any purchases since it's obvious that they don't stand behind the products they sell you. Customer service is pointless and completely useless. I will never buy from them again unless they somehow make good on this problem which at this time I sincerely expect nothing from them. So today 09/21 I went to speak with the store manager, he saw my wife and immediately went into the back hiding. Some guy comes out said he was out for lunch at 4:00 pm! The guy gave me a partial refund so after never getting the dryer that I ordered they basically stole $300 plus from me since I wasn't refunded the total amount that I paid. One easy phone call and they picked it up & replaced with a different brand of my choosing. Everyone on the phone, in the store and on the delivery, when out of their way to be helpful & friendly. This Best Buy is usually well stocked with most merchandise that I'm looking for. It's also one of the largest BB stores around in terms of sheer size and prices here are mostly compatible to the other stores in this area. Where this particular store is lacking would be with the customer service. Or in this case, lack there of. Whenever you enter any BB you're greeted by someone who can usually direct you to a specific location to find what it is that you're looking for. Then once in that department a Sales Person should appear and help whenever available. I don't experience that at all in this store. In fact on most occasions the Sales Staff is usually off somewhere else, maybe they discovered a portal to another dimension, alternate universe or some false reality. One where there's no bothersome customers to deal with. Well if they keep this up, That will most definitely become a Reality, lol. I was in the Rockaway mall Best Buy on 9/8/20 to purchase approximately $800 worth of Ring security cameras. There were 3-4 employees around an arcade machine close buy. They were more interested in the game then helping anyone in the store! I was there for around 15-20 minutes with absolutely no help, just looking at the security section. Very disappointed with these overly zealous money hungry assholes at Best Buy. We went there a few days ago and bought a Samsung TV Q80A model on sale the prior day we called for $1299.00. Costco had the same series TV & an even larger for the same price. This salesman wouldn't honor the sale and it wasn't even a day had passed after the sale which I screenshot at showed them. No matter what I said and how I justified why they/he should give me the sale price this guy wouldn't bend an inch for me. They also told my wife on the phone e the haul away of the old TV would be $24.99 but when I "reluctantly" went through with the purchase only be cause Costco was out of stock and I would have to wait for that particular TV QLED series to be restocked. I said let me talk to the manger maybe he would be more willing to work with me and backdate the sale which again was less literally than 24 hrs ago & maybe honor the $24.99 haul away instead of the $100 insane price they changed the haul away charge for. A team leader or manager TY called me and left a message on my cell phone saying Best he could do was credit us with the haul away they charged. I figured it's better than nothing but ad I been the manager I would have easily gave the $100 off the TV but even that same manager of course, would state he can't backdate the sale cause it was the manufacturers discount for 1 day, even though it was valid only 12 hrs ago. I think that's petty and GREEDY. I still can cancel the deal but my wife said she don't want to wait longer than the 5 days BB would deliver the TV to my home literally 5 minutes from the Rockaway store. I always was hesitant about buying at BB in general they do NOT work with previous customers!! Your much better off going online or to Costco or Sam's Club if your a member, where you also get additional 2 year warranty on the TV's now. I still could cancel the lousy deal for both before Monday & up to 14-days AFTER the delivery. The only bullshit consolation, if you wanna call it that, was that the TV or even stupid Mount may go on sale with fathers day and Juneteenth coming up and if the TV and/or overpriced wall Mount $150 (not even full motion btw) would be priced matched. Firstly they were supposed to order me a product instead they charged me in store and never ordered the item. I bought a washing and dryer machine, with installation and haul away services included and the deliver have been rescheduled 3 times. Today when they finally came to deliver it, I found out that the drivers were only gonna deliver the machines and somehow the installation and haul away of my old machines were taken off from the order. Result: I have a washer and a dryer left in the middle of my living room. After calling to resolve the situation, being transferred to 3 different agents and staying on the phone for 1 hour, I found out I gotta call back tomorrow to reschedule yet again the service, since the order was not opened for editions. I stopped by here to pick up a phone for my mother's Christmas present that I pre bought online. Luckily, I was with her to pick it up because Best Buy and/or Verizon require that the phone be programmed immediately (not specified on website). I couldn't pick up the phone at the regular merchandise pick up area and had to go to the phone section. The line was long, disorganized and very slow because there were only two people assigned to phones. People were not happy. Went to the manager for assistance and she, very condescendingly, told me that these were the only two people who were trained to work the phone area. She said it was appropriate to have only two people working this area on non busy times. This was the Friday evening before Christmas ..... realllllllly? The manager then told me that I should probably come back tomorrow first thing in the morning if I didn't want to wait. Totally snarky, unhelpful and pretty pleased with herself. The people in line were VERY grumpy, very vocal and it got to the point where the two guys in phone service were calling management to get more help. Poor guys ... one was super competent and the other one was obviously not familiar with the phone set up system. Both were trying their best. Eventually, another person or two came over after several calls for help. The manager gets zero stars, the staff gets four stars. I got a good lesson and will never buy a phone from Best Buy ever again. read more

I have had problems in the past with them not having items in stock, however they were very helpful in identifying a location where the item WAS in stock. I generally like shopping at Best Buy. Their product selection seems good, as is their return policy. They also have a good selection of Geek Squad certified refurbished equipment, which for a tight-wad like myself, is a good thing. This visit in particular was a bit peculiar though. After having spoken with a salesperson in the computer area for at least 45 minutes about a laptop for my niece, we decided on an HP tablet type of laptop. However, the laptop was not in stock and it was also nowhere to be found in any of their stores within a reasonable driving distance. It was, however, available for order online. My recommendation for anyone shopping here for an item they want/need right away would be to (duh) see if the product is available before you engage in any lengthy conversation about it with the salesperson. read more

Haven't seen a Best Buy this bad to date. Terrible service, employees with bad attitudes, and most importantly a lack of knowledge in their area in which they cover. I have been here several times, and each visit never ceases to amaze me. My first visit was to take my laptop in for repair. The process (which I have been through before), took a considerably longer time than I have ever experienced. The Geek Squad reps I had the great pleasure of dealing with took about 30 minutes to ask me 5 questions & have my computer ready to be sent out for repair. My last visit was a few days ago, in which I was looking for a new laptop for my girlfriend. There were two employees on the floor in the electronics/computer section. Neither seemed to have much of a clue on any more than the size of each computer screen, and one of them couldn't seem to keep their mouth shut when help was clearly not asked for. I highly suggest driving to a town or two over, and hopefully you'll find better service. read more

The staff here knew nothing about their products. After walking around this severely understaffed store I finally found a sales assistant and asked if they could help me pick a modem. They said "I don't know anything about modems". Cool. I found another staff member who said "I can't help now" and walked away. Very Cool. Additionally, the selection there was TERRIBLE. Sean was very knowledgeable, incredibly patient, not at all pushy. additionally, everyone in that store was attentive and proactive asking if they can help in a really nice, not aggressive way. the only downside was on Friday i stopped in to check prices on laptops. they were significantly lower than on Sunday for the very same laptops. and it wasn't that a sale ended. raising prices on the weekend? for all those that can't get into a store during the week-day hours? if that was the case - that stinks. i'm not sure - may be just my perception. i would never have known otherwise because i usually work monday through friday i just happened to be off and happened to stop in. read more

Went into my local best buy for two reasons 1. Get a phone sports armband for running and to find a laptop or tablet that I can use for work. When looking for the armband, I really wanted this pink one but it said only good for iphone 7. A really nice floor worker- didnt get his name- helped me and actually opened the package to see if my Samsung galaxy S7 fit in, which it did! He helped me save myself from purchasing it and the question if I would have to return it or not. Looking forward to run with my new armband! For the computer, my cousin who works for Bestbuy said to talk to the Windows tech guy on their new tablets that had a stylist to write on. Instead a nice Geek Squad Agent, Ilhan helped me out. I went in to get a little more knowledge on the computers and left with a good set of knowledge on what would be a little more better for work purposes. Had to stand around for 25 minutes before someone decided to acknowledge me, and then another 15 minutes until someone from the department I needed came to assist me. When I finally got the assistance I needed they were helpful. I was making a fairly large purchase and they did price match a competitors price, so I guess that is worth 2 stars. read more

He answered all of my iPhone questions which helped my decision process to buy a new one and even helped me get a new battery for my Jeep key fob and changed it for me too while I waited for my iPhone information transfer to finish. He went above and beyond and acted happy to be doing it. He definitely provided exceptional customer service and I would recommend this Best Buy location based on his service alone. THE MOST IRRESPONSIBLE STORE I bought an iphone 8 plus 4 months ago from best buy ( NEVER BUY APPLE'S DEVICES FROM BEST BUY ) .I clearly stated several times to the staff ," I WANT AN UNLOCK IPHONE " .After buying it , I insert T-mobile sim-card in it for 1 week , it was working .Then I went overseas (I usually take out T-mobile sim-card and put another cellphones carriers ,IT DID NOT WORK ,I paid more money to buy UNLOCK IPHONE , When I cam back to U.S and go to the MOST IRRESPONSIBLE STORE ,best buy , and ask them why its happen . They told "OH , WE FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT WHEN YOU INSERT A SIM CARD IN IT, YOUR PHONE GETS LOCKED TO THAT CARRIER ". Wish I could give negative stars! On 12/23/2014 my son purchased a Keurig K45 Elite for me for Xmas. Not realizing that my appliances are all black and nickel he purchased one in white. I went to the Rockaway, NJ store on 1/5/2015 at approx 2 in the afternoon in order to exchange the white one for a black one, with my receipts in hand. I was informed that in order to make such an exchange they would need to charge me $45.00. I explained that I wanted the same model, only in a different color. I was told that since the sku number was different, that I had to pay the difference. I told the supervisor that sku numbers are for inventory and of course different colors have different numbers, that is how you know how many you have in each color in stock. She kept repeating her story, so I had to leave before I became so frustrated and turn unreasonable. Now I come home and look it up in my computer and see that the item is selling for only $25.00 more than my son paid for it. I call the store manager,he offers no apologies! He actually said that they were following standard operating procedure!! But if we were willing to drive the hour to return to the store, he will make an exception and exchange it for me. Located where the old AMC Outer 6 theaters were, this store is the best electronics store in town. They have what you need in stock, plus they have midnight openings for the latest in software and hardware. They even have a club program called Rewards Zone which saves you lots of money. read more

A textbook example of horrid customer service. I came into get a price match on a Tivo Mini from Amazon. They didn't price match because Amazon was listed as the second option on adding to cart due to their price being second best. The customer rep's attitude was atrociously rude and obnoxious. I knew the minute I bought up price match, she was going to do everything in her power not to match it. I ended up ordering from Amazon. It is amazing to me that places like Best Buy who face stiff competition for Amazon and other retailers pay so little attention to Customer Service. Picked up an item I ordered online, which wasn't even described properly. When I asked the salesman if it would work with the gaming system my son had he couldn't answer my questions. At a place like this you expect and need knowledgeable employees. Strike one. Then I had to return something and another woman and I were online and criticized for entering the checkout area the wrong way. Really? How were we to know there was a right way when the whole checkout area is set up in such an odd way? Strike two. When buying a router no one was available to answer my questions.
