All but one item were able to be picked up at the store "within an hour" but the order was not actually available until the next day because they decided to sit on the order overnight and not fulfil it. The item shipped to me was stolen off my porch within minutes of its arrival. I called them about it and they offered right away to have me to pick up a replacement at the store no cost to me. Not ideal but Ill take it. I use earbuds daily for work and personal use. I bought a pair of JBL buds in August. After using them about a money they started shorting out, not holding a battery charge, and after charging all night one ear bud would only show 30% charged while the other showed 100% charged. I contacted Best Buy customer service and they refused to stand behind what they sell, instead pushing me off on JBL. JBL told me to check out a FAQ to check the connectors for debris or earwax (so this must happen a lot which tells me it's a bad design or production flaw). Regardless, didn't fix it. They told me I'll have to go ship it back to them, they will hold on to it for 4 days, then send me a replacement. I use earbuds daily and waiting a week or two for a replacement doesn't work for me. The cheap Chinese earbuds I've been getting off Amazon have worked better, for longer, were less expensive, and I didn't have to waste my time screwing around with ineffective customer service. I'm not sure what benefit Best Buy is, after 30 days they just shuffle responsibility directly to the manufacturer. What's the use of having a brick and mortar store? We took my son's computer to the Geek Squad to see if the battery needed to be replaced and was told it would be $50 for them to look at it. All the technician did was turn the computer on and off a couple of times, no testing or running any diagnostics. Then the guy said we needed to GO ONLINE and buy a battery (as if we know what to buy) then come back and for ANOTHER $40 they would install it for us. We decided to take the computer to a local repair shop and the problem wasn't the battery at all. Sales guy Chandler-was great. Purchased 3 large appliances. Soonest delivery was 2 weeks out which is today. From starting with a 12 hour window it was narrowed down to a 4 hour window. During the 2 weeks, I received several emails for me to get my prepping done by removing the old appliances and checking pathways. Done, appliances are out and were donated to another family. Now they say roads are bad and it will be another week before delivery. Roads are clear and attached is the odot cams. The crappy delivery company that BB uses directly reflects on them. read more

My Samsung tv had dark spots across the top after a year (just past the warranty expiration), but it wasn't a priority, so I learned to live with it. That is until recently when it started glitching and the volume would come and go. I went online & started shopping and saw a 'like new' Visio on Facebook marketplace that seemed to be a steal before I decided to check the comps. I saw that Best Buy had a Toshiba - 50" Class - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR - Fire TV Edition on sale for $100 off at $279.99 with a free Amazon Echo dot ($49.99). I noticed they had an 'Open box' in excellent condition for $262.99 and went to the store to make sure it lived up to the 4.7 star online reviews before deciding to purchase. I had a mediocre experience with the first salesperson who demo'd it for me, as he didn't seem very knowledgeable and said it wasn't available. I went to leave and saw that, in fact, it showed 1 was available at the store. When I went back in, I approached someone to buy it and was told it wasn't there and that their system sometimes took several hours to update. Long story short, they lost a sale and my business. Technology is much too advanced for computer systems to misrepresent inventory to customers willing to drive in to the store. Yes, I got a new television elsewhere. read more

Due to terrible service, lukewarm prices, and lackluster inventory, I've become quite accustomed to mediocre Best Buys almost everywhere. Yet in terms of shoddy locations, I can safely say this is not one of them. The customer service is rock solid and as a result, so is this 3 star rating. Just like any location, it's quite big. Even pre-pandemic, the people traffic was only significant during holiday shopping times and big sales. I never have to worry about bumping into too many people and parking is a breeze. I think the associates here are either well trained, nice people, or simply all of the above. Phones are answered quickly, they're helpful to find items for folks and seem fairy knowledge for common electronics / appliances. I've not faced much lip when attempting to return a new item and they've been quite helpful with helping me find warranty information. I really thought it was a fluke, but like most things in life, I was probably just really lucky. read more

Best Buy takes zero responsibility for products not getting delivered. They say to "contact the carrier" or "contact the police". I have two photos attached, one from September of 2021 where the items were never delivered from OnTrac, and BB said it's not their problem. 5-months later, still nothing. The other is a laptop and they had someone deliver it in a dirty car and the proof of delivery is a photo of the floor mat inside of his car. BestBuy said to "call the police and file a report, not our problem". Who is delivering at Best Buy? A Stock Boy? Do they go out to see who is hanging around in the parking lot and say "Hey, do you want to deliver a laptop for us, here's $10 bucks!" I am done with Best Buy, will never shop here again. I have Gold Status and used my points and shopped here a lot. Something has really changed and based on the 2-star total review here on Yelp, it's time for new management or ownership. I can no longer spend my time or hard earned money at Best Buy, especially this one in Salem. The more times I visit, the more times I am disappointed. Expect long checkout lines. I have never, ever seen all of the cash registers open at once. It's almost like the store management WANTS to fail. The DVDs, Blu-Rays, and Video Games are nearly always in disarray. Very hard to find what you want. I used to get great coupons for this store, but the items on sale are usually gone quickly. Nobody has ever "WOW"ed me with customer service there. Sharing my delightful experience at Salem Best Buy's Pacific Sales appliance department: I am having a home built, and need *all* the appliances. After online research I decided to go to the Best Buy store in Salem because of the good selection (especially of LG appliances) reasonable prices/promos, and because I've had positive experiences with Best Buy appliances before. In addition to needing to choose between so many appliances, I also needed personal advice because I have ALS and accessibility of some appliances can be tricky. (I need some appliances that will be accessible for me from a wheelchair, and also work for my able-bodied daughter.) I needed someone to walk me through the features and pros and cons...and luckily I got the Yoda of appliances, hooray! Zach was amazing, extremely knowledgeable, and took his time helping us. He listened carefully to what we needed and wanted, making thoughtful and on-point suggestions and recommendations, while being sensitive to our price points and timelines. When done, he went further above and beyond by emailing me all the installation spec and dimension sheets I could give to my builder, and is working with me on how to plan purchases/installations to work with my timeline. I had a deal to trade in a cell phone for this Best Buy and in the deal I would get a $300 bonus on my phone. You can actually look up the deal on their website right now but when I got to the store the associates did not know about the steel at all, and told me that my trade-in was invalid, even though I had confirmed online previously coming to the store, I had to drive 38 miles each way to get to the store only to find out that my deal didn't even exist. Apparently I have never received such terrible service in my life. I went in today for only the second time in 20 years. The signage is intuitive and within seconds I was able to locate the section for Apple products. I feel pretty certain that it helped very much that I had informed myself beforehand: the iMac I wanted was in stock, and I had a 3x5 card with the SKU number on it. Everyone was civil. An older man who appeared to be the lead hand quickly ascertained what service I wanted, and handed me over to Xander, who went in the warehouse, got the model I wanted, and rang it up without pressuring me to buy add-ons like Applecare. There is lots of parking but the slots are lined out TIGHT. I would say of all retailing, canned telephone messages, etc., that young people especially do not enunciate clearly. read more

Best Buy is an oxymoron. The best buys aren't at Best Buy because of their restrictive and hidden exceptions to their policies. First, Costco had a 27 inch iMac bundled with AppleCare at a better price than BB. BB has Price Match Guarantee but they would not match the price because it was a bundled package, and they sold the iMac and AppleCare as separate items. Okay, so off to Costco. Second, I bought a MacBook Pro with a student discount. The MacBook Pro sale price was discounted $150. The very next day after I picked it up, BB increased the discount price to $200. Seems like they would honor the new price and refund $50. Nope. It was because I used a student discount and it couldn't be used again. Despite having Elite Plus status, I will no longer shop at BB because of their too many hidden exceptions to their policies. Bye, bye Best Buy. There are plenty of other vendors who will give customers good deals and better service. One more thing, getting someone to answer the phone at the Salem store requires a long hold time. When I called the Salem store to place the MacBook order, I was on hold for 25 minutes. When I called to request the price adjustment, I was again on hold. Eventually, the call went to a main BB number. They tried calling the store using a direct number. It took a long time before they found someone to answer the phone. In conclusion, because BB has so many hidden exceptions to their pricing policies and poor customer service, I will go elsewhere. read more
