Best collateral altered the clasp on the gold chain I had on layaway and their customer service is ridiculous. We had to actually call the Oakland Police and in order to resolve a matter in regards to our purchase of a chain which they switched. The only resolution is that they wanted to give us half our money back in store credit in the store which clearly we would never shop in again why would I take store credit in the store that wouldn't honor the refund. That's ridiculous they do bad business I recommend that you not go here go to Zales jeweler or regular jewelry store don't go to this bottom of the pit jewelry exchange place. This is concerning the Manager at the Oakland Store. He is a scammer a con artist a thief and very unprofessional. He altered the Jewelry I had on layaway and tried to sell it to me. It wasn't the same, I seen that he had altered the items, so I pointed it out to him, he said I was crazy and swore those were that same items but they wasn't. So I ask for my money back . I had spent $4000.00 in the store. He told me he could only give me store credit and no money back. He actually wanted me to keep the items that had been altered and switched up. I couldn't believe that he was actually making me pay for items that I had not picked out and items that he had altered while they were on layaway, this is crazy. I've been doing business with Best Collateral for over 20 years and I've never had no problems in the store with anyone. The Oakland Police had to be called out in order to resolve the situation . At that point all I wanted was my money back and he was not willing to give me any money back. So while trying to figure out the best way in resolving this whole issue he ended up giving me like only $800.00 a $400.00 little cheap chain that I never wanted and still don't, I just picked it out to try and as much of my money back as possible , I also picked out a $300 TV . That's all I got after spending over $4000.00 of my money in that store. Where is the rest of my money ????. I guess it went into his pocket. This is why I'm letting everyone know not to deal with the Best Collateral jewelry store in Oakland they're scammers and thieves, they're going to scam you out of your money and they're going to alter your Jewelry .Do not mess with them, go to any other jewelry store but them. I am still in shock by the way the manager treated me in that store I will never ever in my life go into a Best Collateral store anywhere in the world . I am so done with them. I paid $3,000 twenty years ago, but I knew it was worth maybe $150 for the weight alone. The staff here was welcoming. A young woman took the ring, weighed it, and put it in the X-ray machine. She came back and told me it was not solid gold and it was platted 14K. What? The ring was custom made and appraised by an artist I explained. Nope. She said it was not solid gold. I had it checked out by the crew at 14 Karats in Berkeley. I was told it was solid gold, that it showed some wear, and they even knew the jewelry-maker. Sold it to them for the weight. It was heavy and I received a fair price. Either the machine at this store was calibrated wrong or the woman didn't know what she was doing. read more

This is definitely one of the better pawn shops in the East Bay, they don't have the largest selection of any one particular item, but with all of the "B" goods (Electronics, Tools, Instruments) that do they carry the quality always matches the price point. It's clear that this company's main sales focus is on Jewelry, they have a beautifully displayed center showcase with an excellent variety of wearable wealth and the prices are always way cheaper than any retail store around. I went to best collateral in Oakland ca and the new employees there try to RIP you off big time they price your merchandise by going on Ebay.they look for the lowest price that someone sells their products for and offer you 23% so I had a new carbon fiber trek that values at $1400 they told me that they couldn't give me $200 because someone was selling one on Ebay for $600 and it wasn't even carbon fiber.so she went and got the manager who said to me another bike no we don't need any more bikes right now but where is the watch you had on the other time you were here.i think that is rude and unprofessional.so I wouldn't go there anymore total tips you off read more

I had read the reviews on this place thinking it wouldn't be too bad seeing as there were more reviews of people having good experiences here it seemed like the only problems people were really having were with loans on items so I went with my ps4 thinking I'd get a reasonable deal it's in good condition two controllers and 4 popular games all about 60 dollars each so I said okay I just want to see how much they might give me for a loan and then see what they'd give me for it if I sell it the woman I spoke too said it would be 100 dollars 5 for each game and 10 for the extra controller she did not take any time at all to do any research or anything so I asked how much I might get if I had just sold it flat out and she said it would be the exact same and to me that was quite confusing considering that loans are supposed to be much lower than just selling it so I took all my stuff back and I was pretty dissatisfied with the experience I feel as if she low balled me on purpose just to get me out of her hair which is understandable she could just be tired of doing paperwork but if that's the way they conduct business here I'd definitely say this is not somewhere you'd want to go to loan or sell anything here even if you really needed money you could take your items anywhere else and make much more off of it I can honestly say GameStop would give me more and no one even thinks of taking anything there and selling it because they know they won't give up anything for it so that's saying something. read more

I went to Best Collateral to look for camera lens for myself and to look at there jewerly. I found a vast array of jewerly and the watches were amazing I had to try a few on. The prices were great and the store was extreme clean. I found the staff very helpful and made me feel like they were here to make sure I got what I wanted at a fair price. When I went to the display of lens I found the one I was looking for. It was at a extremely fair price compared to ebay and I was able to check for scratches, damage and wear. I wouldn't been able to do that for a purchase on ebay until I waited for it to be delivered and if I didn't like it had to spend my time mailing it back. I tried the lens on my camera and snapped a few pictures and the lens worked like new. All in all I saved an average of 125 dollars from the lowest lens on ebay. I was totally delighted with Best Collateral and I think you will be too. A total gem and the staff is very welcoming. read more
