Their name "Best Donuts" is accurate, in my opinion. A couple years ago, someone brought donuts into work from this place and now this is the only donut shop I regularly go to in the East Bay (I do try out other donut shops, but always come back to "Best Donuts"). The raised donuts have the perfect amount of airiness and the old-fashioned donuts have the right mix of caky texture with a hint of crispiness on the edges. The owner is super nice and makes sure the donuts aren't smashed together in the box/bag, too. The prices are reasonable and they accept cash and credit cards (the latter for a small fee). read more

My wife and I tried this place a couple of weeks ago. I ordered my standard test donut, a cinnamon roll. It was somewhere between dry and stale. It did not have an appreciable amount of cinnamon. It was considerably worse than donuts from a supermarket bakery. Service was good. I can't recommend these donuts for human consumption. I suspect they would be an OK bait for pests. read more

I've always gone to donut wheel because they are downtown, but best donuts is closer to my house and had good reviews. When I walked in, I had my two kids with me, and the woman who greeted me lit up to see my three year old and baby. She made us feel like family. It was awesome... and a completely different experience than the customer service I received downtown. The donuts are on point... I went with a raspberry filled jelly, my son for a chocolate sprinkled, and a dozen donut holes for the baby (just kidding). Higher quality, fair price, awesome customer service. Not a huge selection, and they don't have specialty donuts covered in sugary childhood cereal or cotton candy, etc but for tasty old fashioned donuts, this is my favorite spot in Livermore. It's rare that I buy donuts and even more rare I have an easy opportunity to do so. So when the train was running super late one morning this week I decided to drive all the way in to the office. So I pull into this shopping center here to go to Carl's Jr and realize it's closed at 520 am. But the donut shop here is open so I figured let's give Best Donuts a shot. I haven't had good donuts since I moved down from Oregon. So I was lucky since they were not open yet but let me in a few minutes early. The lady who I believe is the owner was super friendly and I think quite caffeinated. She was chatty and asked about my morning and made me feel welcome. I ordered a glazed and sprinkled cake donut, a maple bar, and a plain glazed. I started with the cake donut and it was warm and the outside was crispy. So delicious. The maple bar was creamy tasting and almost tasted like a maple pancake to me. Amazing. The plain glazed was good. Nothing outrageous but good quality. They fixed the problem of being out of French Roast in the morning which I really appreciated, however, I've decided to forego the everyday morning coffee run, and save the money I was spending there everyday. This is my go to place for donuts but the other day I went to get donuts-it was probably an hour or so before they were closing, I walked in and the guy behind the counter was vacuuming so I walked out. The donut case was open as he vacuumed. Something about vacuuming around food is a turn off for me. I think all the dust particles going on the food and it grosses me out. read more

Came in this morning before the sun... I just need a caffeinated sugar rush to get me through my Monday, was not dissapointed! Was promptly greeted, in and out the door with a warm box of fresh donuts. This is a quaint little hole in the wall but I was desperate for some place other than Donut wheel. The donuts were warm and soft, melt in your mouth good. I didn't purchase any drinks but they had a decently selection to choose from. I don't know if these are the 'Best' donuts but they are the closest donuts on a Sunday morning. I considered going to that other place in town, Donut Wheel, but I just didn't want to deal with the drama of First Street so early in the morning. So we went to Best Donuts and ordered a mixed dozen. There was nothing bad about the donuts but I doubt that they would cause the same reaction as the 'oh so yesterday' Crispy Creme donut. I must confess that I am not a donut lover unless it is covered in a thick layer of warm maple! I stopped by Best Donuts for the first time today, in part because I'm still looking for a local donut shop which offers glazed buttermilk bars on a consistent basis, but also because our longstanding local option (The Donut Wheel) just isn't that good anymore. Well, this was great. The place is clean and well-lit. The buttermilk bars themselves were light and crispy, but with just enough glaze and oil to give it that prized mouthfeel I look for - although to be fair the bars themselves were the smallest ones I've had so far at the various donut shops in the area. The service is wonderful - friendly and like family. The husband-and-wife team running this place clearly love what they do. The place gets extra points for accepting credit cards, and extra extra points for throwing in four gratis glazed donut holes into my bag when I wasn't looking! In short, this place is extremely good. It has now officially become my regular Livermore donut shop, and converted me on the first try! Best buttermilk bars in the tri-valley area!
