I stopped by Best Donuts for the first time today, in part because I'm still looking for a local donut shop which offers glazed buttermilk bars on a consistent basis, but also because our longstanding local option (The Donut Wheel) just isn't that good anymore. Well, this was great. The place is clean and well-lit. The buttermilk bars themselves were light and crispy, but with just enough glaze and oil to give it that prized mouthfeel I look for - although to be fair the bars themselves were the smallest ones I've had so far at the various donut shops in the area. The service is wonderful - friendly and like family. The husband-and-wife team running this place clearly love what they do. The place gets extra points for accepting credit cards, and extra extra points for throwing in four gratis glazed donut holes into my bag when I wasn't looking! In short, this place is extremely good. It has now officially become my regular Livermore donut shop, and converted me on the first try! Best buttermilk bars in the tri-valley area! Found this donut shop years ago and was quickly won over. Small and assuming shop in a strip mall. Their donuts live up to their name. Not only do they have, in my opinion, the best donuts in the area, the owners are wonderfully friendly and incredibly hard working. Even during the challenges of COVID, their smiles never wavered. Danny and his wife are the best! They get at the shop at 4:00 am to start the dough process for their donuts, when you get there by 5 or 6 am they're fresh made and taste yummy! I have even placed orders for special events and they never disappoint us, I highly recommend them read more

I just moved to the area and saw Best Donuts across the way during a run to the Nob Hill supermarket one day. Had to wait until today to get a chance to visit. A small, homey place with a self-serve coffee bar on one side and a few tables on the other. I was helped immediately, even though there was someone who was already in front of me. I got a maple bar and a small coffee. I should have tasted the coffee first before doctoring it with the choices at the bar - it was already decent as it was, unlike most coffee at some donut places. The maple bar is larger than some, super fluffy, and not too sweet. I loved it. Will definitely come back! read more

I've lived in Livermore for 4 years and yesterday was the first time I went to Best Donuts. They truly live up to their name - and then some! It is the most delicious donuts I have ever tasted. Being from Livermore, I am not sure how I have never been here! I thought the donut was fresh and delicious but even better the staff was so friendly! I have called in large orders for our office staff here a couple of times now and they really are great! The donuts were ready and waiting for me in the morning and the donuts are some of the best I've had. The owners are really nice and always throw in a couple extra donuts for my kids. Went here today around 3PM. Late in the day, sure, but I just saw their ad in the recent Pennysaver, saying they're open til 6PM Monday through Saturday. Anyway, they were apparently all out of donuts... at only 3PM. They told me to come early next time. (?!?!) So what are they planning to sell the rest of the day, I wonder?? I mean, since they're open another THREE hours today. Incidentally, they had a coupon with their ad in the Pennysaver... something like, get a dozen donuts for a reduced price between 12PM and 6PM. If they had to tell me to 'come early next time', I'm assuming they run out of donuts... a lot. So what's with the coupon? Anyway, I WON'T be coming back. I only dropped in since I was close by and had seen their ad anyway, and it's not worth another trip to me to POSSIBLY get donuts... assuming they're not all out. read more

Yummy! I came in to get some donuts for the office today and the woman working behind the counter was SO very friendly. She even added a few extra donut holes to my order no charge. I inquired if they use nuts of any kind and lo and behold to my amazement, NO NUTS and NO NUT OILS! WHAT??!! She said they want to accommodate all the children these days with allergies. Best Donuts are so much better than Donut Wheel. They have hot and fresh donuts late in the afternoon. The donuts possibilities are endless. I've had my share of donuts throughout the years --- some good, some bad, some bizarre --- but none as amazing as Best Donuts has to offer. The glazed donuts here are wonderfully balanced. Soft, tender, chewy dough mates with beautifully and artfully crafted icing of just the right sweetness, synergistically creating an epic sensation in your mouth whose sum is greater than its constituent parts. What a rarity in this day and age of overtly sugary, cloying toppings found in many other donuts. All of the donuts in the shop are handmade and are a beauty to behold. Variety is abundant and each donut is unique: right down to the dough. Each one I tried was as well-made and delicious as the last, from apple fritter to maple bar. The accoutrements to go with the donuts are worth trying in their own right: the coffee is made from a delicious blend of beans and it is a great choice to complete your meal. The customer service is right on par with the quality of the food: outstanding. It was refreshing to experience such friendly, accomodating help that truly made me feel at home. Speaking of home, Best Donuts is a clean, really well maintained and cozy --- a nice, quiet atmosphere. Best Donuts truly lives up to its namesake. A must-visit and highly recommended. read more

I was headed home from work at 4:45 am, and I thought I'd swing by to see if they'd let me in 45 mins early to satisfy my donut craving. They did!!
