I had two completely different experiences with Best Fit Movers, and the subsequent customer service "ghosting" has been the dealbreaker. The First Move (March 6th): 9/10 stars. Angel and his work partner (Alex?) were fantastic. They moved me from an upstairs to a downstairs unit in 3.5 hours. I didn't lift a finger, and they only used one roll of shrink wrap. Professional and efficient. The Second Move (March 8th): 0/10 stars. I was moved into a storage unit by two men who were painfully slow and used excessive shrink wrap on items that didn't need it (like an ironing board). I had to help move half the items myself! It got so bad I had to call my 65-year-old mother to help. The two of us moved more than the "professionals" did. They wasted time using dollies for light items I could carry by hand, then refused to use them for heavy items, wasting even more time. One guy was constantly on his phone, and the other ignored my instructions to just get items off the truck so my mom and I could move the remaining items ourselves. It took 4.5 hours for HALF the work, and they charged me for two rolls of wrap. The "Service": I filed a complaint immediately, asking for a 2-hour credit and a refund for the extra shrink wrap. For the last 5 weeks, I have called nearly every day. Every time, I get a different excuse: "Juliana (the billing manager) is busy," "a task was escalated and Juliana will call you back today," or "we're switching systems." I am moving again this week, and despite being a repeat customer, I will NOT be using Best Fit Movers. They have had over a month to make this right and have chosen to ignore me instead. Made the mistake of using this company recently. 3 men, 9.5 hours to move a 2 bedroom condo. 90% of which was boxed in the garage ready to go. A bed frame and crib the only 2 pieces of furniture that required any assembly work. Turned the wall on the staircase into Swiss cheese. It's hard for me to image how the same furniture I lifted with my younger brother UP the stairs was damaged in the reverse sequence by "professionals" with back braces and lifting straps. Of course I call and they've got every canned excuse in the book. "Well we didn't come see it" "I wasn't there so I don't know" "I'll try and do something about the damages" Moral of this review. Unless you are physically incapable of moving your stuff or make more than $2,000 a day in net pay- do it yourself! They quote one hourly rate and then charge you more than that, they also charge additional fees: packing and unpacking, although you're paying by the hour for packing and unpacking. Other additional charges added, that were not quoted nor approved. Spent two weeks trying to work with the company claiming decision maker was out sick, and other excuses. I finally came up and reported them to the Better Business Bureau, wish I would've done my homework and looked into there reviews. Very disappointed with my experience as a repeat customer. I was quoted approximately $650 to move a 2-bedroom, 1,100-square-foot condo from Downtown San Diego to Chula Vista. Only one bedroom contained a full bedroom set with dressers and nightstands. The second bedroom contained a studio desk, a small futon, and already-packed boxes and bins. Most of my bins and boxes throughout the condo were packed, labeled, and ready to go before the crew arrived. I also paid to reserve the elevator at my old condo to help make the move more efficient. Despite those preparations, the move stretched to nearly 8 hours and the final cost exceeded $1,850 before additional fees. As the bill continued to climb, I made the decision to have the remaining boxes unloaded into my garage rather than brought into the condo to avoid even higher charges. I am now moving boxes myself, reattaching sofa feet, and completing work that I expected to be part of the move. I observed what I felt was an inefficient use of labor throughout the day, including a crew member being trained on the job and situations where the crew did not appear to be utilized effectively. I also had to request that protective coverings be placed on my new stairs and flooring. Some of my own packing materials were used during the move as well. What concerns me most is the lack of communication regarding the escalating cost. When a move goes from a quoted $650 to more than $1,850 plus fees, including a substantial credit card surcharge, there should be a conversation with the customer long before the bill reaches that level. After my experience, I reviewed other customer complaints and was surprised to find concerns regarding unexpected costs and billing disputes that sounded similar to my own. The movers were courteous and respectful, but I am extremely dissatisfied with the efficiency of the move, the final cost, and the lack of transparency regarding the charges. As someone who does not ever write reviews neither negative nor positive, I feel I have to do so here. I used Best Fit Movers for the first time based on their website and needing movers last minute. The two gentlemen that showed up were nice enough. However, the following needs to improve if Best Fit Movers wants repeat and happy customers: 1) Do not damage the furniture. I personally expect minor scratches here and there due to the nature of the work. Although, it would be nice if it did not happen at all. Yet, a high percentage of my pieces of furniture were scrapped, scratched, broken beyond what I expected. The damage to my belongings can only be done by inexperienced movers. I could have simply hired two random non- movers with enough strength and paid them half of what Best Fit Movers charged and would have had a better outcome.; and 2) Work with purpose and leave the phone alone. I acknowledge that it is an exhausting job and you may need to take breathers. But walk to and fro like there is something that needs to be accomplished - because there is. I myself moved some of my own belongings and I cannot imagine lifting and carrying bulky items for hours. This is why I hired "professionals". However, are you trying to extend the work to charge extra beyond the minimum allotted time? Hence, why I moved what I could. That said, I am disappointed with the service provided. I had a very disappointing experience with Best Fit Movers and would strongly caution others. I originally booked a 1-bedroom move and was quoted $387 for 3 hours which was reduced to $287 after I attempted to cancel. During the move, despite clear instructions to prioritize only large furniture, the movers ignored this and packed small personal items into wardrobe boxes we did not request, including my wife's wet leotards on our drying rack (now broken by them), plants (which were crushed), and other belongings. They also overused packing materials and even used our own supplies against our objections. The final bill came out to $888 for 4 hours and 45 minutes, including time when no work was being done (breaks, stops, and periods where movers were not present). I was also charged for 4 wardrobe boxes but only received 3, along with additional charges for tape and plastic wrap that were not properly authorized. When I contacted the company, they acknowledged that wardrobe boxes are returnable and should not have been charged, and said they would follow up with return instructions. They never did. I made multiple calls over weeks and was repeatedly told I would receive a callback, which never happened. When the company later claimed I failed to return the boxes, I personally visited their listed address, only to find no actual office or staff, just a lot with trucks, confirming there was no way to complete a return. Overall, the experience involved misleading pricing, unnecessary charges, poor communication, and no meaningful effort to resolve the issue. For the safety of your items and for others on the road DO NOT book this company. To start, their workers arrived reeking of marijuana. I am 24 weeks pregnant and had no choice but to hope for the best as I could not move myself. They worked so slow that I had to remind them to work and please reduce standing around and talking to one another. They ruined a whole corner of our dining room table, they left a huge puddle of water in my 2 year old son's bedroom. Sadly, that is not all the left in there.. the whole room reeked of marijuana. They even tried to charge me for "materials" but I packed myself. It was truly a horrific experience. I called the company immediately after the men left and all they said was to file a claim for the items. They said that someone would be in contact with me and it's midday Monday and still no one has. I only give one star because the movers were great, the junk pickup was TERRIBLE. I showed them all the trash that needed to be taken care of and everything seemed fine, he agreed. After listening to one of them complain the whole time, the other finally said they don't take trash so they won't complete the job. I mentioned how on the phone the day before they said they would take the trash and he had nothing to say. Then had the audacity to ask me for a tip. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! I had a move done back in June and I am still trying to get my claim resolved with this horrible company. Save yourself the time, money, stress, and energy. First, it seemed like they forgot my appointment time and just sent over two random guys (one that was not with the company and one completely inexperienced) to do the move. No toolbox, truck was much smaller than expected and could not fit all our stuff. No apology or acknowledgement to this. Second, one of the movers had a horrible temper and would literally lash out at my furniture as well as my mother who was trying to help with the move because they were clearly not experienced enough to do it efficiently. He would yell and throw around our tools and would be in a great mood at one point and then completely hysterical at another moment. Is this really a professional mover? I was legitimately scared to even talk to him. He then instructed me that next time I should hire another mover so that they could have more hands because the moving company purposely understaffs. Does this man even enjoy working here? What kind of suggestion is that? Why is it my responsibility to hire my own men? Third, the move from my townhome to a one bedroom apartment took almost SEVEN hours. The drive from point A to B was 20 minutes tops and they took over an hour. Again no acknowledgement to this or apology. There was also noticeable damage to my furniture as well as the flooring of my old home and scratches to the new apartment flooring. Lastly, I submitted a claim and they have unsurprisingly avoided me. They offered me a $200 refund which was already ridiculous, but on top of that they still have not updated me on any sort of progress with this. They avoid any issues of any kind. The most they will do is lie and say it is being processed. For the love of God do not book with this company. Do not do it or you will regret it. My family and I are considering taking legal action. They are scammers and I wouldn't be surprised if they just hired random men to do the moving so they can make money. read more

The movers themselves were great, but the company's billing practices are deceptive. My bill of lading clearly shows the crew working from 9:16 a.m. to 4:52 p.m., yet the company billed me from 9:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. When I questioned it, I was told it's "company policy" to round to the nearest 15 minutes both ways and then tack on another 15 minutes -- which is not legal. That inflated time pushed the job into "overtime," adding $398 in extra charges for time the movers weren't even working. I've called and left multiple voicemails for billing, and was even told I'd receive a same-day callback. It's now been 11 days with no response. Eugene and Gustavo were our movers who were amazing. They were at the location 15 minutes early and started loading the truck at 4pm. Eugene was very friendly and helpful. They were very careful moving the boxes and all the belongings out of the storage space. They loaded all of our stuff for 1 hour and 30 minutes. The only reason I am leaving a 4 star review is because the company has a 3 hour minimum so we had to pay extra money for another 1 hour and 30 minutes that were a waste since the guys moved everything for half the time. When I called to get a quote and asked what a typical 2-bedroom move might cost, I was told under $1,000 based on the cash rate that I was quoted. At no point during multiple phone calls was I told about a 50% overtime surcharge if the move went beyond 8 hours -- not just for the extra hours, but for the entire job. This was only buried in fine print at the end of the written quote and never emphasized or explained verbally. Because of this, my final bill was $2,400. When I questioned the charges, I was told to pay first and that I could resolve it with the office later since it was after hours. That turned out to be false -- once they had my money, the office refused to provide a meaningful refund and even admitted their sales reps are "not required to explain this over the phone." They also tried to justify the surcharge by claiming it was "California law," which was both misleading and incorrect. I felt misled into paying far more than I reasonably expected. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY EVER. This was the worst moving experience of my life . they gave me a good promo rate if I booked immediately (1st red flag) and I thought it would be the most cost effective. Instead it ended up costing me TRIPLE what I paid 3 years ago. $1,250 for a 1br apt move (that I was quoted around $500) is robbery, and according to your Yelp reviews is something that has happened to numerous people. The previous company I used 3 years ago was able to move my 1 br apt completely in 2 hours. because I have more furniture now and my new place is upstairs I had anticipated (and was quoted) a 4-5 hour total move this time, It ended up taking with their excessive loitering and negligence well over 8 hours AND I, a single woman, had to help unload the truck! To begin with your 2 movers showed up and I walked them through the apt & they knew exactly what had to fit into the truck from the start, and yet at the end they were closing the truck and told me "there's no more room", trying to literally leave behind many of my items without even TELLING me! If I hadn't have walked through the apartment and seen all of the things they were trying to just drive away without, I wouldn't have even known. If there was no room in the truck it is because they did not know how to pack correctly at all. They put them in last minute but told me it would be my fault if things broke. This is THEIR JOB. one, they clearly were not trained to do. One of your workers Alex stayed in the apt the whole time, repacking my already packed boxes into larger boxes, wrapping furniture in shrink wrap (that I was charged $45 for a roll, but they took the wrap with them, charging other people for the same roll), taking apart my furniture without ever asking, which added time on both ends to dismantle and put back together. Alex came out and was leaning against the truck drinking, and talking instead of working, even in the beginning. By 2 hours in, less than a quarter of the truck had been filled. They were intentionally dragging the loading out. It took over 4 hours JUST to load the truck VERY slowly (see pictures) when everything was already boxed and ready. This is double the amount of time it took for the other company to move me COMPLETELY, and they hadn't even finished loading a truck. Unacceptable. We left the old apartment at the same time, I arrived at the new apartment and it took them a full 20 minutes after me to arrive the same exact distance. Because this is billed at double drive time this then turned into 40 minutes of extra time, not even including the actual drive time, just EXTRA time not accounted for. This helped move me into time and a half pay. Once they were finally at the new apt they literally held ALL of my items hostage inside the truck and required me to pay everything in full right then, or they refused to open the truck. They sat on the curb for another 20 minutes while I talked to the manager to say I would not pay in full, this is shady, unethical, no legitimate company would EVER ask this. They left me zero choice. All contracts were presented to me on Alex's tiny phone, I did not get to read ANY of it, he did not show me what I was signing, even after I asked repeatedly, there was a significant language barrier in even understanding him. I asked numerous times for a copy of the contract to be emailed to me and was told it would, and I STILL have never received it. At this point, a full hour or more had been wasted, that I was paying for. It was 90 degrees, they didn't bring any extra water for themselves, at one point I went and drove to get them water and gatorade (I paid for that too) because they were so unprepared for their own job. The worst part of this is, we were so far into the day, still had to move everything upstairs, and the money was getting astronomical that I had no choice but to literally help them unload the truck. I paid for a service, and the service was SO BAD, that I was moving boxes out the truck and up the stairs, helping move furniture etc, just to try and save the huge waste of money this was turning into. During the move they pointed out that my giant wooden framed and beveled mirror was completely broken because they shrink wrapped it without even a moving blanket or any stabilization! See pictures. My wooden bathroom shelving unit broke as well. anyone with experience would never have allowed this to happen. This experience left me in tears more than once, as a single woman by myself I had no choice in the matter and I felt incredibly taken advantage of when I had zero alternatives once they were there moving so slowly and with Alex's bad attitude I submitted a claim a MONTH ago and have called every week and will look at small claims court now. This is the second time we have used this company. The first time we moved, they were wonderful, that's why we decided to use them again for our second move. The main complaint I have is they lie to us about an item we couldn't find. My husband and I said it's probably somewhere in one of the boxes and we will keep looking and we tipped them and thanked them for their hard work. Later that same day, as I was throwing out some garbage I opened one of the greenery cans and noticed that there was garbage in it so I took it out and at the bottom I found the item that was broken at the bottom. It was obvious that they had known about the item and instead of just telling us that it was broken, they threw it in the greenery can and placed some miscellaneous garbage upon it to hide it. It was an unfortunate accident I'm sure. We understand the chances of things breaking during a move. I just wish they would've told us the truth. We asked them to move a piano, as soon as we booked the movers the first time. When they showed up to move, they were absolutely baffled that we had a piano! So we had to book a different company to move the piano afterwards, which of course, was more expensive that having the first company complete the job they were booked for 2. They "lost" 12.000 dollars worth of jewelry, most of which was my wifes family heirlooms. That, and a bench for our dining table was what was missing. Coincidentally... After they "looked" for it for a week, and "surprisingly" didn't find anything, they offered us a compensation. And hold on to you seat now. They offered 50 bucks, which they even said was high, as a "good-will gesture"??? I'm still speechless... So we went from point a to point b, with a professional moving company, and they managed to "loose" a suitcase with the jewelry, and a bench...! Is that professional? 3. They left a mess, we still have 5 moving blankets and rolls of clear film... Of course the idiots can't be assed to pick it up 4. They smashed a glass top table, and didn't clean it up 5. My mom and I moved, she found this company and the two guys showed up and refused to park in the normal spot people park to easily get in and out of our complex and also way closer to my front door (which caused more time to be added because they had to walk far to and from the truck to load items) if they had parked closer it would've reduced time tremendously. Which honestly I understand, sometimes we need to be on our phone I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but she said he was standing there on his phone for a while and when time is ticking and I have to pay for the clock ticking it's expensive. I showed up and told the guy I needed them to move quicker because we originally FROM ADVERTISEMENT thought this could be done in 3 hour window. It was one small 1 bedroom apartment and there was not a lot of stuff and everything minus the large items was boxed and ready to walk out the door. When I told the guy I didn't want phones out and needed them to move quickly he told me "I'm having a good day, in a good mood, don't change my mood, you're welcome to call the company and cancel this service" (as if I had another option on moving day which is already stressful to do that. I found it deeply disrespectful. In addition to this, they dinged the dining room table and all four of our chairs and told my mom they would give her a whopping $100 for a gorgeous brand new modern table and chairs. We were told 3 hours at $400, ended up paying for 9 hours the total was $1040. The manager gave $200 discount. So it came out to $800 something. All this to say. I'd also like to add that there was plenty of space for the guy to park by the curb at the new place, I told him that and he said to me "would you like to park the truck" I've parked many moving trucks and I know it would've fit, but I didn't want to argue so I left him where he parked which was LITERALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. Cars had to drive around him. And each trip back and forth from the truck to the house was anywhere from 10-15 minutes. Best Fit Movers is not a "moving" company. They are an unprofessional organization that thrives off of creating chaos, and then charging you to fix the very chaos that they created. This review describes the events that occurred on 5/30-5/31 2025, during a local Orange County move with Best Fit Movers. As the customer, we have never physically worked so hard while actually paying a company to do the move. You would think "manual labor" is part of the job for a moving company. Instead we heard: "oh, that's too heavy", "Oh, I'm tired" "you don't really want that upstairs, do you?" "we're done, we don't want to move that" "it would be a shame if you had to throw that away unless you tip us" "oops, looks like that was already broken" Or simply breaking things and leaving it to be discovered later. But the crew of Best Fit Movers had no problem having a party when they turned their radio up so loud to a volume that is beyond embarrassing. That's on top of the very loud & inappropriate shouting in Spanish of cuss words or "goal!", because after the very loud mariachi music, listening to a football match blasting out of a moving truck while they're in someone else's new neighborhood is par for the course for this band of hooligans. Although we stated very clearly the move was for a 1200 square foot house, we were sent a small truck, so the move took TWO days, 2 different crews, approximately 20 hours, and a combined total of 6 men "working". We moved into a 1400 square foot house and had to get rid of things because they could not do the job properly. As a bonus, we will have to hire another moving company, a paint crew, a person to patch the dents in the walls, and a cleaning crew just to fix the mess that they created! This isn't even the worst part about Best Fit Movers. They literally dropped the refrigerator off the truck, destroyed art, damaged furniture, damaged the walls of both the old and the new place, literally just threw things around, and filled the garage with no concern for placement or walking room, making our new and clean house thoroughly dirty & damaged saying "you'll just have to repaint and do some patch work on the walls, and hire a cleaning crew" - with zero shame or sense of responsibility - like they say this all the time, as if it were an acceptable business practice of Best Fit Movers. Incredibly, this still isn't even the worst part of Best Fit Movers. The worst part is finding out that while I am making trips back and forth to fill our cars (yes, we had to use our cars to move our stuff too!) and am away, Salvador, the Best Fit Movers team leader bullies my wife who was forced to stay at the new place alone to manage things. My wife was so upset that she just wanted them to finish and be gone. I thought she was tired from the week that we spent pre-packing everything to be ready for Best Fit Movers arrival, followed by this horrible experience with Best Fit Movers. I had no clue that she was being bullied at that time that it was happening to her. She was so shaken that she wouldn't even come down for the final bill and checkout. She only told me the full extent of what she was subjected to the morning after. And let me be clear, my wife is not easily shaken. She completely felt unsafe, and disrespected. Due to character limitations, I can not write the entire story here. The full story is posted on X, Facebook and other places (I can not include links here either). The bullying started the moment they arrived at the new place and she was alone with them (reminder, I'm away packing our cars because we had to move things ourselves). She requested for the truck to be parked in an area that would not obstruct the neighbor's garages, nor hinder our new neighbors in any way. Salvador argued with her back and forth until he finally agreed to do what she, the customer, requested. Another crew member, George, tag-teamed on Salvador's behalf to yell and disrespect her for daring to direct them where to park. This was just the beginning. They also got mad at her for requesting the loud mariachi music to be turned down in an attempt to not disturb the new neighbors. This would have been a poor practice at any time, but it was 8pm at night. She was subjected to things like "oh, that's going to be additional $150 EACH, unless you tip us well", "we can't move that 50 pound bookcase, but you can", "that couch has got to go because we can't move it". Salvador treated my wife like a mob boss looking for angles to extort us, coupled with condescending remarks to her. The additional foul threats and cuss words in Spanish about my wife to the crew were heard by all the neighbors, one of which reported back to us the same night, others informed us the next day (additionally, my wife speaks Spanish, I do not). Aside from damaging most of the furniture, we're also find gouges and gashes in our brand new vinyl flooring, because these guys just dropped and slid heavy furniture without protection on the floors. Very bad company. read more

Took a $100 deposit prior to the move and are now refusing to refund it. I paid the full amount owned to the movers after they completed the job and they told me the deposit would be refunded. They even called some guy on the phone and in front of me requested that my deposit be returned. After a couple of weeks passed and I noticed my deposit was not returned, I called them to see what was going on. Right away I was being brushed off, told they would look into it but no one would call me back. So I would call again and same thing, we'll talk to the movers, and again no call back. Then I called again and the guy tried to tell me that the $100 was kept because they used wrapping but what he didn't realize was that the movers weren't helping me wrap things up, everything was already wrapped because they were only helping me unload my things, so they did not use any wrapping material for sure. I told him that and he said he'd call me back but of course didn't again. After a few more tries I gave up knowing my $100 would not be given back. They may have wrongfully kept my $100 but in the end they actually lost out way more money because I'll be moving again soon and will for sure never hire them again, so there went another $1,000+ in profit for them. And I'll be sure to tell all my family and friends not to hire them either so they will loose out on that business too. read more
