Nine months ago when my son passed suddenly, we used Best Funeral Services because of it's location between friends and family. They handled the cremation, and we arranged for a celebration of life service to be held. The Officiant came out to the house to talk with use and get information about my son for the service. He took notes and I thought he had a clear understanding of his interests, line of work and so on. I discussed with him certain things I wanted including me being able to read a poem I wrote, also, I specifically stated I wanted plenty of time for friends to come up and share memories. The service was horrible, the Officiant talked more about himself and his wife, was making jokes with one of the attendees, and gave completely wrong info about my son. He never called me up to speak, called the bagpiper in at the wrong time and introduced him as if he was at a rock concert, and at the start, as the large number of people were still trying to find a seat he gave less than 1 minute for people to come up to share memories. Everything about it was wrong, he absolutely did not follow anything we had discussed, and in addition to my grief, I was embarrassed and felt ashamed that people would think I planned that disrespectful, confusing and erroneous tribute to my son. My complaint to the manager resulted in a $100 refund, as if that's sufficient to make up for the mess they made. I will never recommend that place to anyone, but if you do use them I suggest you do a room sweep first to make sure that big roach isn't still crawling on the floor anymore. Unless they're offering a refund, I don't ever want to hear from them again, but they keep sending me pamphlets in the mail. read more

The absolute worst to write a review like this on the place I trusted with my mother. No professionalism and no compassion, from the get go. Completely rushed through our first meeting because I had the arrangements already made, but when the time came, they didn't have the capability of providing anything I had preplanned and Leza was always too busy to sit with us, much less ever come to the phone. We were promised a phone call the minute they knew the day the cremation would take place. That was on Jan 3. We constantly called and kept getting told since they were so busy, they would waive the "storage" fees! Finally, on Jan 15, I had enough and demanded answers. Then they said my mother had already been cremated on Jan 12 and she didn't call because "that's not her department! " Although I assigned the insurance policy to them so money shouldn't have been an issue, they submitted the final bill on Jan 6, six days before they even cremated my beloved mother and then they told us we would have to pay cash for anything else because they needed the cremation money immediately. We couldn't pay cash for the rest, that's why we had insurance. Furthermore, in order to get the rest of the insurance so we could finalize her celebration, we needed a certified copy of the death certificate, which takes 30 days, but even longer with this place, because they didn't submit for it! We ended up going to vital statistics and getting ourselves, but they had already submitted incorrect info, so now we have to ammendment it. That's only the beginning. JR's care and compassion toward myself and my siblings as we handled our father's final arrangements in the Era of Covid was the ballast in our terrible storm. I want to thank him particularly for his guidance and sensitivity toward my youngest brother, who is the only member of the family who lives in town, and consequently had the largest-- and least appropriate, given his young age-- burden in managing the administrative details. Funeral direction is not an easy job, to say the least-- it requires unusually deft interpersonal skills in the face of managing a business, and JR somehow walked that impossible tightrope beautifully. Despite the difficulty of the context in which the arrangements were made, the siblings were still offered the opportunity to say goodbye to our father, and that meant so much to us. Finally, Best went above and beyond to expedite the predicted Covid-delayed paperwork timelines during a particularly difficult caseload period for the Valley, and because of this we were able to move forward with what otherwise would have been highly problematic financial impediments to resolving the estate. I wish I could give this place a zero star rating but it doesn't allow for that! My sister passed away tragically at the age of 32, we provided the funeral home with her make up and a picture to help prepare her for the viewing! When we approached the casket we felt like we had been kicked in the gut! She was green, yes I said green! She looked nothing like my sister, she had bodily fluid still left in her hair, the string or suture that they close the mouth with could be seen hanging out of her right side of her mouth. When other family members and friends showed up they wanted to close the casket which would defeat the purpose of having a viewing. They also messed up her memorial cards and when we brought it to their attention we were asked if we wanted them fixed. That shouldn't even have been a question when we said yes they printed out 25 correct ones which is a far difference from the 100 we paid for. I called and spoke to Andrew Parea to let him know how my families experience was and the horrible image we were left with the phone was silence, no sympathy or apology, I even had to ask if he was still there as it was just silence. His response was to email him the details and to this day a month later, I still have not received an apology or reassurance that another family would not have the same experience mine did due to the lack of attention to detail or respect for the deceased or their family. read more

When my grandmother passed, the hospital recommended this place. They said it would take about a week. After 2 weeks of hearing nothing from them we called and they said that there had been a hold placed by the medical examiner and never called to inform us of this. They then became very rude and said if we have a problem with it we could go pick her up. We called the medical examiner and they said there was no hold and they have no idea why there would be an issue. We are shock by the conduct of this place, especially being that we dealt with another death just moths before and the other funeral home we used (a wise choice funeral home) had everything done in under a week with no issue. Do NOT use this place. The manager (Andrew) is rude, unprofessional, and they have no responsibility. This was the first time I've experienced death it was a really hard experience. Tiffany was the woman who helped. She was great that's why I'm giving this company two stars. Now I received an itemization the day my dad passed which broke down the cost of everything. The balance my family, myself, and Tiffany was calculating was a THOUSAND dollars off. I asked where the extra funds were being charged was going? Nobody could explain to me other than saying "our records show you owe this amount." I asked for a supervisor I think his name was Anthony or Andrew (male who studders when frustrated) he was EXTREMELY rude. I explained I just want to understand and he said right from the beginning that he'd "rather lose 3500. Than for you to believe we're taking advantage of you." He then continued saying, "you're welcome to take your dads corpse elsewhere." My dad died the day before and I did not want to keep moving his body. All together I was there for 1 hour before he broke down all the cost which they were correct. There was 800 for the coffin and 200 for services that showed "included" on the receipt instead of the amount which is where I was trying to figure out. Ultimately, I have a really bad taste in my mouth from this supervisor and will never recommend this place to anyone. read more
