Graham Foster the Operations Manager at Office Max on Lake Pleasant Parkway went above & beyond. I had several boxes of taxes I needed shredded. I came into office max for the first time ever today trying to print off some downloads from Etsy. I have never in my life done this and I felt completely lost and stupid because I'm 25 and don't know how to work my phone let alone print things off. A wonderful lady named Devon helped me and made me so comfortable and took my anxiety of not knowing what to do away. She even played with my toddler so that I could finish uploading on my phone. I normally have a great experience at this location when I go to print, but this recent time I went the customer service at the printing center was AWFUL! The man working at the station was rude and extremely unhelpful to all customers needing help. The man in front of me in line was treated poorly, then when it was my turn he was very unhelpful and not customer friendly at all, and then I noticed that he was the same way with the customer after me as well. Normally the customer service I received here and awesome and they are always friendly . . . but I wish I would have gotten the name of this employee because I was extremely disappointed in the way he treated customers. read more

I'm not sure who their previous warranty plan coverage was through - perhaps Asurion. - that worked great I had two headsets that broke, I went in and got them replaced at no charge and subsequently bought the two-year protection plan again. Just like any lazy big box vendor, they have switched the protection plan to a company called Square Trade. You have to file a claim online, speak to a representative over the phone, scan and email a receipt, wait for a preprinted label to send in your broken equipment. So I go to office max to look at chairs with my wife, I don't wear a mask for my personal reasons, and will typically be polite if asked to wear one. After being in the store for ten minutes an employee helping some customers stops and tells me I have to wear a mask. Ok, my wife was looking at chairs so I put one in to keep her happy. However, this employee was working with a family of about 5 all wearing mask but three were wearing them under their chins nothing said to them. If you want to be taken seriously, treat everyone the same. I don't typically go to office max, but because of this dumb employee I won't be back to this store! read more

It pains me to write this review because I always try to support business's near my home. However, Officemax needs to change their policy so here I am to complain about it. My wife purchased a new wireless mouse about a month ago and I dont like changing batteries in these so before she had the chance to open it, I surprised her with a NBA Suns team wired mouse since I knew she is a sucker for anything with the Suns on it. Anyway, my wife came back less than 30 days later to return the unopened mouse WITH her receipt and they would only give her in store credit? It's not like we opened it and used it, or not have a receipt.... so I just think that 30 days should be the minimum for these instances and I even feel that management should push the envelope more to keep loyal customers in areas like ours which are far in the outskirts of town. So "Eek! Methinks not" on you Officemax, once customers come first in your store then we will come. read more

Went in today to grab a calendar. On an impulse I decided to grab a new monitor for my business computer. Selection was just enough to have some options for me. Decided to check the reviews on the monitor on their website before I bought it. While there researching it on OfficeMax.com, a Call-to-Action popped up prompting me to give them my email in exchange for a 20% off code on one item. I thought perfect, and signed up as I stood in the isle. I went to add it to my online cart to get a total before I walked it up to the register, and was immediately denied the coupon, as apparently it's not good on everything... and I even scanned the pop-up quickly for the "catch" and didn't see anything obvious. While I'm sure it's buried on some other page of legalese... it irritated me that I just gave them my email knowing they're gonna blow it up with emails... and they gave me the bait and switch. Told the guy helping me that that was kinda crappy... turns out he was the manager Chris. He brought he monitor up to the register, and without telling me, he honored the 20% discount. Good job Chris! While they probably didn't make much on it, as it was on sale as well, it showed me something you don't see much of anymore. CUSTOMER SERVICE!! So I like that I can recycle my ink cartridges here. They give you three dollars per empty ink catridge and you have to spend the same amount to get the three dollars per cartridge back which no one explained to me at first but I get it now.;) read more

Our nephew died in the Peoria AZ area and we chose Office Max #1308 for the printing of a memorial service program. Ron Siebel was compassionate as he listened to how we wanted it personalized . In fact, he told his associates that he would create this order since he had talked to us and knew our wishes. The next day when our family went by to proof the document, we had exactly what was meaningful to us and what reflected our nephew--a memorial keepsake! Ron in the Copy/Print area is not only polite and helpful - he is super knowledgeable. The first time I went in to discuss a print project, he was able to precisely identify the specialty paper I needed just by seeing and feeling a sample I brought in from a previous run. That immediately showed me he 'knew' what he was doing! My project included many sequential steps, some I completed and some I needed done at the store. Unlike the reviewer below, I had a great experience with this OfficeMax location. I bought an OfficeMax brand paper shredder about a year ago from this store that specified that it could take up to 8 sheets at a time, but it didn't! It got clogged and stopped working and was actually just sitting in my office for the last several months. I couldn't find my receipt but thought I would try to take it back and see what they would do for me. The manager there, Chris, was so nice and helpful. He said he could switch it out for the same one but I asked if maybe I could get credit towards the purchase of a better machine. And even though the one I bought was on sale for $35, he gave me credit for the full price of $50 towards the purchase of an even better shredder! I had him sign me up for a frequent shopper card, plus, when I asked about business card printer paper, he showed me where it was but then told me about how their print center can actually print business cards cheaper than running them through your own printer in your office. I will definitely be doing my office supply shopping there again. Plus it's a very nice store, much nicer than the Staples on Bell. read more

Horrible location. Walked in to fax some papers with my 1 year old son in my arms and the man behind the counter was helping an older gentleman and I was next. When he finished with him, the employee looked at me, smiled, and walked off. Hello? Wasn't I next in line? He never asked if I needed anything nor said that someone else would be up to assist me. Instead I had to tote my son around to find someone to help me. Finally I found the "greeter" and she said she had no idea how to work the fax machine but she would call someone up for me. The person that came to help me was a snotty teenage girl that didn't say one word to me, just grabbed my papers, walked to the fax machine and told me "there's a lot of papers, it's going to take a long time. When you see all of the papers on the pullout rack then your fax is done" and then she walked off. I went to find her again to ask how much longer and she was in the middle of the store talking to two of her friends that had come in to visit her and she made eye contact with me and literally bolted to the other side of the store lol!!! OfficeMax you have some GREAT employees. Will not be coming back here ever again. read more
