When it comes to my nails I want to make sure i'm getting my moneys worth because it isn't cheap.. I usually get SNS dipping powder, and for some reason this time it started getting cracks in my nails and I was not happy about that because i just got my nails done a few days prior. Went in to ask them to fix it and they told me "you did that" then I said no and they said "we don't see it". i'm upset at the fact that they don't believe their customers and want to throw the blame on me.. I hesitate to give this place five stars right off the bat since I've only been there once, but let me just put it this way: it's Friday. I went to Best Nails last Saturday to get a manicure and now, six days later, this manicure is still going strong. There are some lines and some places where it looks like it's about to flake, but it's been six days, people--SIX DAYS--and still no chips. These nails have survived two flights, hulling strawberries, making jam, mixing dumpling dough, cooking two dinners, typing several Yelp reviews, a couple of hours of other typing, five showers, two cats and one photo shoot, and they are still going strong! Now, Long Beach is a little far to go for a regular manicure, but rest assured, the job done at Best Nails now constitutes the gold standard by which all future manicures will be measured. I can't even really account for what they could have done differently, since they didn't seem to use any different products as anyone else. Also, their staff was friendly and efficient and they also did a nice job taming my caterpillar eyebrows without making them look scary-thin. I usually only leave a review if a business is excellent because I try not to say negative things about anyone, but in this case I feel like I need to leave a warning for people looking to get their nails done. This is by far the worst manicure I've had in my life, and I've had a lot of manicures. I was looking for a local salon and read Yelp reviews to find Best Nails had 4.5 stars. I am not sure how they earned this. After spending almost 2 hours in the salon, the dip manicure I got was horrible. Not only are all my nails shaped differently, some are round, some are square, and some are just plain lumpy. I asked for Funny Bunny, but the clear finishing polish had a pink tint from someone else's red nails, which made my soft white have a pink hue. Then to top it off, as soon as she was done she took out her clippers and hacked away at all my skin on my fingers around my nails to the point that they were almost bleeding. I don't know why she did this! Even worse, this tragic experience cost me $45!! It wasn't worth $5 in my opinion. Stay away. Best nails is not the best! read more

After searching for a decent nail salon, while concentrating on cleanliness I came across this place. I truly value their sterilization on the tools used (they open a fresh package in front of you). The actual work is more than decent, it's impeccable! Rocky did my nails and he is now my go to guy, he's a true artist and can do anything and everything! My friends, people I encounter compliment my nails regularly! I also appreciate the staff and their friendly attitudes, none of that crazy banter and cattiness I've encountered at other salons that made for awkward stares and an uncomfortable mess. One of the employees did not tell us how long it was she just said they were very busy right now and to come back later. I do not mind that they were busy but if you have a waiting area empty then I'm sure it would be nicer and better customer service to say "please feel free to take a seat" I have never been to a location that is as rude and has no type of customer service skills in my life. She expected us to comeback later knowing that they were not busy, we left and will never use their service. This wasn't the first time I'd tried that salon, and it's OK in a pinch. But the visit only reaffirmed how wonderful Best Nails & Spa really is! My mother-in-law would say that I was just too baffled by the massage chair, and that tainted my opinion of the entire place. She's not wrong about one thing - the chair is quite baffling. I have been here twice now and I have to say that my experiences have been night and day. I feel that there are some good nail technicians here who are lovely and know what they are doing (Cindy) and then there are others who will cut your cuticles, make you bleed and try and play it down in a way which is annoying and funny at the same time. All I know is I spent $45 one on occasion and it included a massage, a scrub, some cooling gel, a hot towel, callus remover and a oil treatment as well. That time was well spent but then the other time I paid close to the same and my money did not buy near the same services and my cuticles were a tad bit mutilated. I find the pricing options confusing and just plain stupid. We want to relax and having to read a menu with 10 different expensive options of varying services is not relaxing and seems to be opportunistic and is clearly not good customer service. The owner or the lady at the front is a little bit ingratiating and aggressive at times and I just find the entire menu options to be a purposeful red herring meant to get money out of you before you realize it. Overall, it seems this business is trying to make a come-back but I feel they are doing it the wrong way and with a lack of quality. Please note: they do not accept tips on credit or debit cards so bring cash for tipping. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! I had the worst experience at this nail salon. I went in for a fill and just wanted white polish. A fill, took the technician a hour and a half. After she was done my nails looked ok but the were kind of crooked and the white gel polish started to bubble. I went back to nail shop the next to have them fixed since the nail technician did such a horrible job. I gave a suggestion and asked if I could change to a darker color because the bubbles in the white polish were very noticeable, the technician wanted to charge me 10 dollars more for a polish change..SERIOUSLY.. I was highly upset because I wouldn't have even been here for a second time if she didn't mess up my nails to begin with. So I just decided to let her fix my nails and stick to the white gel polish. After two days, the white gel polish started to chip off and my thumb nail is broken. I will never go to this nail shop again due to the lack of customer service. read more

I'm currently sitting in a spa chair as I write this... I have never experienced such amateur service! The young man that did my pedicure clearly does not have experience. While clipping my cuticles, he was cutting my skin. He was forgetful and unsure about what he needed to do next. Painting my toes was not any better, I currently have polish around my toenails and not on them. While correcting one, he messed up two others. Walked in at 9:10am and they were mopping the floors and not prepared. The gentleman who greeted me was very nice. The gel colors are posted on the wall. I grabbed a few and looked through them. They sat me on chair 12 for a pedi and gel mani. The pedicure lady gets there and starts taking out her tools and in the cubby is a HUGE cockroach. She is freaking out and kills it with a piece of paper and comes back to continue doing her work. The pedi was so quick and the massage was terrible. The nails came out OK but not what I would expect from all these 4 star ratings. My gel mani was OK, she wasn't happy I picked white. But she still got the job done. I've had a better mani. The massage was terrible, was it even a massage? Go somewhere else ladies... I made the mistake because I was rushing and trying to get ready for a trip. I do not recommend this place. I love this place so much that I've referred family members and friends here and they are now regulars as well. I always get SNS powder done on my hands. It's a healthier alternative instead of gel nails, and it lasts for weeks!! And I get the "please me" pedicure, which comes with a leg and foot scrub and massage. Very relaxing!! The owners, Amy & Victor, always make sure that I am completely satisfied with my nails. They are awesome nail artists and they are so down to earth and friendly .
