I really didn't want to deal with anybody, but I need to get my nails done. They look horrible. What color should I pick well I guess they should match my funeral dress so I went with Black. I wanted to see how the polish did before I posted a review on this place, and I give Ohana Nails a solid 4 star. This was my first time here, and I literally just stopped in without a call ahead or appointment. Ohana Nails was purchased less than a year ago, so it's under new ownership. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted immediately with a warm "hello" and smile. Annie, the owner, was so sweet and accommodating. I came in for a regular polish pedi and gel mani. I was immediately seated for my pedicure, and asked if I wanted water. I can't recall any nail place offering me a beverage, ever, so that was a plus! Mimi did my pedicure, and Annie, my gel mani. Both gals took their time, did not rush services, and did a pretty decent cleanup/polish job. I was on the fence about dipped polish. I have ever done dipped, so I had some questions. Annie took the time to explain the pros/cons to dipping versus gel. I went with the familiar gel, and she recommended a layer of "reinforcement" to protect the nail? I shall see what that looks like when I go in for the gel removal... Ohana, is a cute little shop tucked perfectly at the end of the busy strip mall off Sterns. Parking was a breeze, and it was easy getting in and out of the lot. The shop was clean, and inviting. The one downside was the price. It was a bit pricy for everything. That's why I give Ohana Nails 4 stars and not 5. I spent about $20 dollars more than I usually would have at my usual spot. It's been almost 2 weeks and everything is holding solid. I loved my experience and will definitely be coming back. Loved my French gel nails and toenails, and I can be pretty picky. The customer service was great and the new owner, Annie was so sweet. I decided to splurge on my pedicure with the full service, which I would recommend for a treat-yourself day or girls date. They did a scrub, and then applied orange slices which surprisingly felt really nice, a collagen wrap, and even a massage with this candle wax that's apparently made for massages so it doesn't burn you, oh and hot stones all while I was also using the massage chair on my back! I noticed this fairly new salon when I went into the Starbucks last week. The manicurist I liked at my current salon had left, so I thought I would give this new business a try. I had switched over from gel to dip manicures about 4 years ago so I could avoid the UV lights required to set gel manicures. I called & asked if they did dip manicures & they said yes & that I could come right in. I will start off with the positives: My manicurist was very detailed and did a nice job of applying the products with clean lines around the cuticles & edge of my nails. The negatives: 1). she had me put my hands under the UV light after every dip application. When I inquired as to why she was using the UV light, unfortunately with the language barrier she didn't understand, and just told me it's ok. But it isn't. I'm not a nail expert but I've had probably over 50 dip manicures & UV light is NOT needed?? Some technicians do apply a top coat of gel to seal & gloss & that does require one time using the UV light...as opposed to the 4 times that she used with the dip. 2). She had me dip my nail straight into the jar of dip powder. I know this is a huge no-no due to potential cross contamination!!! Usually they pour a little of the dip into a smaller bowl or brush it on. 3). I choose a light color. The more times you dip your nail, the stronger the color. So it took about 3 times to get a decent color but then she used a white dip color which promptly washed out the color???? She did notice it and went and got a similiar but much brighter shade in gel and used that- with more UV light of course. And now I have a color that is not at all what I wanted but after all this-I'm stuck with it. 4). And it cost $10 more than what I normally pay for a dip manicure!! I've been getting my mani+pedi here every 2-2.5 weeks for 20 years and Tina (the owner) and all of her staff are super nice and caring. This place is always super clean and they all provide great service. I get a gel mani and polish pedi and the price is decent. I have only had 2 instances where my gel mani cracked the next day I went back and they fixed it. It is an inconvenience to have to drive back but they did fix my nail. These ladies are patient with all of their customers (including the elderly like my mom) and try their best to make their customers feel comfortable and happy. I fractured my ankle a month ago and they accommodate me and my little broken foot because your toes DO NOT have to look ugly just because it's in a cast. Give them a chance and who knows maybe this too could be your mani pedi spot! read more

I stumbled upon this super chill nail spot in Long Beach for my grad nails, and it's seriously underrated! I went in kind of clueless about what I wanted, but Mindy was patient with me. She helped me pick out this light pink chrome look that would be perfect for such an occasion. I was still on the fence about it, so Mindy offered to try it out on one nail first. She even showed me different charms because I was thinking about adding some sparkles. I ended up keeping it simple to match my grad outfit. I'm so glad I found this hidden gem. They also do lashes, but you have to book it in advance. They are doing 15% off all services right now, so it's the perfect time to swing by and check them out! I highly highly recommend this place! Worst experience ever! First of all the lady who did my nails did not listen to a word I said. I requested a pink and white fill for my nails which she did not do. I thought she may do something similar with polish but instead she chose a white polish and when I said I wanted pink and white she ignored me. I also told her my nails were too long, but she ignored that as well and refused to make my nails shorter. The worst part of all is that my nails began slowly lifting 3 days after my visit. It's been a week and a day and 4 nails have completely lifted. I will NEVER visit this nail salon again and I caution anyone who thinks to get their nails done here to beware of horrible service!!!
