Original kitchen setup - yes that is ALL the countertop! Sink has been removed and all plumbing on that side capped off.

So I live all-the-way-out-in-Stead (which is how everyone in Reno always refers to it LOL) and have had trouble getting any workmen of any sort at all to come out here. Prior to contacting Best Plumbing, I had ONE other plumber who agreed to come out, and HE, it turned out, was never even remotely serious about doing any work. Everything I told him I wanted done, he said he wouldn't do, including hooking a sink in to existing water and drain lines. I finally asked him why he even came out and he told me he had "always wanted to look around inside one of these houses" (it was built by the Air Force for officer housing in the '50s). That REALLY creeped me out. A total waste of my time and, more important than that, my HOPES. Joe came out without a quibble, the only plumber I contacted who did. He gave me a quote in a timely manner. However I was not able to take advantage of it at the time as my son had to relocate for a new job and he had expenses for buying a new residence, his recent marriage, and all that setting up a new household on top of a long distance move entails. Then we were just going to put this place up for sale so decided not to fix anything after all. Then I had a very small leak from a supply line in the bathroom so they came out and fixed that and installed all new supply lines for me since not a single one in the entire house worked. I cannot imagine a smaller job but they came out quickly and fixed it up for a very reasonable cost. We were still planning on listing the place without further repairs. Then just a few days before we formally put the place on the market, I turned on the shower and water came shooting out the walls, washing cement mortar with it. There was a leak behind the 60 year old tiled walls that could not be ignored, and it had apparently been leaking slightly for quite some time. 60 years ago they laid tile on thickset mortar so this required a complete gutting of the bathroom down to the studs to remove the cast iron tub. Joe sent his crew out and they got that tub out in a couple of hours using a ginormous power saw and various and sundry plumber-ly skills. Dug out the cast iron drain, which I am pretty sure they ended up having to replace as well, and installed plumbing on the opposite wall so I could move my washer and dryer into the house from the garage. Now that I'm on the verge of leaving this house, I have a new tub and an indoor laundry LOL! In addition, they came out and reworked the plumbing in the kitchen. The original kitchen had the washer/dryer and the water heater on one side, and on the other side a stove, sink, and very limited counter space. I had less than 3' of counter on the L at the right end of the sink and only 20" of counter space to the left of the sink. No room for a dishwasher. Previous owners had moved the washer and dryer and the water heater to the garage, and had a Rube Goldberg setup where they ran the drain for the washing machine through the garage wall into the master bedroom closet, then through the back wall of the closet and into the original washer drain in the kitchen. Then they plugged up the hole in the outside wall with cardboard (I'm serious) which had water stains and was buckled from a leak at some point. Joe's crew took all of that out, removed the 60 year old ugly spigots sticking out the wall that had originally been the washer supply lines, and plumbed in new connections for a sink water supply and drain using the existing plumbing. The washing machine was moved into the new "laundry room". They disconnected the original cast iron porcelain sink installed 60 years ago and was in bad shape (plus the faucet leaked), capped off those supply lines and the drain on that side, and installed a new whole house shutoff since the old one was immovable. I am waiting for delivery of cabinetry for the other side of the kitchen where the new sink will go, so they plumbed in a utility tub until the new setup is completed. The faucet I got required that the supply lines go in from the top) but they managed to get it installed ANYWAY, though it took some pipe bending and a bit of extra soldering. I did not realize it was such an unusual installation when I bought it, but they got it all set anyway. To top it all off, 3 years ago we had the furnace replaced by a guy who was supposed to have the work permitted but didn't. Now I know why. It was not to code. I'll skip the gory details but in short, the Best crew fixed that all up for me in short order. Wish I'd known about Best back then to do the furnace install. Highly recommended. Finding a handyman to finish the bathroom remodel has been a(n ongoing) nightmare, but dealing with the Best crew has been the OPPOSITE of nerve wracking, LOL! They've been nothing but patient with me and my awful memory. I thank my lucky stars, at least I found a plumber!

The company sent out a young but very knowledgeable and adept plumber out the next day, who made quick work of removing the old tank, helping me rebuild the platform that was now ruined, and installed a new tank with new piping. I was very impressed with the speed and expertise of the job! While maybe not the cheapest company I received a quote from, it was certainly not as expensive as many of the lower-rated companies, and had the quickest turnaround to my family's hot water back on. Today (six months after the new install), the release valve popped on the water heater and we lost hot water. I shut it down and turned off the water and gas, and immediately called for help. It was 4pm (and I live in Fernley). I had taken a photo, as well, and texted it to them showing exactly what to expect. By 5:15pm, there was a plumber at my door (they made record time all the way from Reno in heavy traffic on I-80!) and they repaired the faulty valve and also repaired an exhaust pipe (from original home construction) that had started bending. All under warranty from the work they had done previously for me. Again, I was very impressed, and I am 100% completely satisfied by having chosen such a reputable plumbing company!

Ira Hansen and Sons Plumbing lied about service rendered!…read more They claimed to have shut off the water & drained our water heater. the problem? the drain broke off the water heater, & the water main was shut off an hour prior to them getting on site. we just requested a quote for replacement. they voided the invoice when called out, but if they lie about the most simple & verifiable things, imagine how much they would lie to screw you out of as much money as possible when you're not able to validate. also fyi I replaced the water heater myself in 3 hours as a complete amateur & it cost $760 instead of the $3,300 quoted. (permits & inspections costs included!)

I knew finding a plumber in the winter, and on Dec 30th, could be a real challenge. I connected with Omega through Yelp. They were the first to reply, and they were the first to call. We were lucky they had a cancellation. They coordinated an appointment with my renters, and arrived within a couple of hours. They were very clear on how they worked and bill for the job. They were professional, reasonable, skilled, and communicative. They completed a drain issue we have been fighting for 6 months. I understand this challenge may return. I hope it does not. At least next time I will know right away the company to call. Thanks Omega!

Junior came to assess the faucet and give me an estimate before beginning the project. As the faucet had to be completely replaced, it would require more time. I made an appointment for the beginning of the following week to make the repair. Junior showed up on time, and completed the repair in a few hours. This was impressive because he had to go under the house and go to Home Depot for an additional part. He was friendly, punctual and didn't leave anything for me to clean up. I am pleased that Omega Plumbing & Heating was able to repair the faucet within a week of calling them. The price was reasonable for such an in-depth repair, and now my flower garden won't have a permanent wet patch next year. I would highly recommend this company for simple or complicated plumbing fixes- in fact, I am going to call them again soon to fix my clogged tub!

UPDATE JUNE 27TH:…read more Sir, you know very well that's not all you did, you guys demanded payment without even assessing my sink first. I HIGHLY doubt you do that when you visit your white client's homes. I was also very welcoming and friendly to both of you. If you guys don't want to work with non-white customers, just add a sign to your business that clearly states "WHITES ONLY". ------------------------------------ ORIGINAL REVIEW: I don't even know how to address this, but here it goes: Do you guys demand payment upfront before even assessing the clogs from ALL your clients? When I opened the door, both technicians looked at me up and down and asked first if it was an apartment and told me they couldn't work here, to which I asked "why tho?" And the sir replied "because you have to let property management know, who's gonna pay?" as if thinking we weren't paying? I mean that's exactly why we called you, because WE WANTED TO PAY TO FIX OUR PROBLEM. Then after telling them that we of course were paying (hello?), before even assessing the clog, payment was demanded, and they didn't start until payment was confirmed. The other guy wouldn't even acknowledge me or respond to me when I made him a direct question. I'm not calling it racism, but it very well felt like I was being racially profiled. Yes, they fixed the problem and I'm very thankful for that, but the experience was very awkward. If you guys tell me that's your MO with ALL your clients and you ask for the payment first before even starting, I'll consider editing rating and review.

They said it was a mainline issue and we would have to find someone else. Based on Yelp reviews we called the Plumbing Doctor and had an appointment the next day. As it turns out the basement doesn't go to the mainline but goes through an ejector tank & pump up to the mainline. It took Dave about 3 minutes to diagnose the problem as a failed pump. He basically cleared the schedule the next day, had the pump replaced and we're back in business. Communicated through the whole process. Even though dealing with sewage in our basement the job was done spotlessly with a very thorough clean up. Pricing seems very reasonable though we didn't shop around. I'll give this locally owned small business a call every time and just skip my home warranty in the future. Much less headache for a reasonable price.
