Great restaurant, my family and I have gone for years. However it's very odd that if you call ahead to ask about a wait time they tell you "they can't disclose that information" - it's not that hard of a question. We just want to know if it's worth it to drive over there for dinner or are we gonna have a long wait, which if so, we'll go elsewhere. We'll definitely keep going but it's just a tad bit annoying while trying to make dinner plans. read more

Right around the corner from the actual beach, Bethany Blues is a nice spot to have some decent BBQ and a cold beer. We arrived with a stroller. You have to go up a flight of stairs to see the hostess but the bonus is they have an elevator. Word to the wise, go early. The previous night at 6pm there was a ridiculous wait (we walked by and had no intention of going to dinner). We decided to go around 4:30 the next night and there was no wait. We were seated on the 2nd floor which was nice...away from the ground floor bustle. Our waitress was great. Timely and friendly. Since we had lunch a few hours before we decided to split a meal. Prior to the meal arriving they bring out warm, fresh corn bread which is so freaking good. We decided on - Build Your Own BBQ Platter ($22) w/pulled pork, pulled chicken and beef brisket. What we liked about it was they weren't slathered in sauce. They provided sauces at the table. The sides we chose were: Baked beans, sautéed green beans and then paid for an extra one, braised greens (aka collard greens - $3). Although it was very good it wasn't the best we ever had. We went to the one in Bethany Beach. While we couldn't get a reservation online, there were many many open tables. We waited about 15 minutes after giving our name at the hostess desk. We were seated upstairs, which was fine. My only complaint was that it was freezing in there! The AC vents blew right down on the table and I had both a sweatshirt and jeans jacket on, still very cold! The waiter was extremely nice, and the food was good! The baby backs were "fall off the bone" yummy! The pulled pork needed a little something. The brisket was amazing! The sides were good too. Would definitely go back next trip. read more

Bethany Blues BBQ is located right in the middle of the boardwalk area of Bethany. During the peak season I could imagine parking to be difficult as they don't have their own independent lot. I came during the off-season and still the place was rather busy on a Sunday night. The decor is a bit busy, similar to a TGI Fridays, with random chotchkies all over the walls. Lots of TVs for game watching or just relaxing at the bar. Staff is friendly and helpful. Older woman was our server and she provided the perfect amount of attention. Food was okay, definitely not the best BBQ in the world. I started with the pork belly, it was nicely prepared and of course fatty. BBQ is my thing, and apparently for these folks, they should stick to making crab cakes. The brisket was way dried out and chewy (they said I should put more bbq sauce on it...um...no...real smoked brisket doesn't require any sauce). Same deal with the pulled pork. The lady friend ordered a steak medium rare. The first one came out almost well done and she sent it back. The second one was medium to medium-well, but it was edible. For being a "21 day aged steak", it had just about NO flavor whatsoever. Half a bottle of A-1 later and it was at least edible. The sides were okay, but not great. The manager refunded the meats (which was pretty awesome of her, considering it was originally a $70+ bill, see also kind of overpriced for BBQ) and the chef himself said there was nothing wrong with the meats. If he really felt that way, he was most certainly in the wrong business. I could have done better going to the meat market, setting my oven to 180, putting a pan of beef stock under it and letting it cook for a few hours. But at least the service was really good and the drinks were perfectly alright. The crab cake that came with the lady friend's meal was the best part. They should probably stick to the seafood schtick... read more

I ordered and liked one of their burgers, then finished my wife's beef brisket. After September 15th there is no ripp off meter parking which is a plus. Although the food was good it was the worst service I have ever had. I'm not being a "karen" because I have worked in busy restaurants before. I ordered curbside. I followed the instructions given to me including parking in the curbside spot. No one came out for 15 minutes. A car in front of me went up to get their food and told me that the workers are refusing to come to the car and i needed to go to the carry out window. I walked up to the carry out window. There was a young lady standing at it so I said I was there to pick up an order and she said "That's not my job. Go inside" without any hesitation and with major attitude. I went inside and the girl in there was nicer and helpful. But I have never been spoken to by a service worker like this girl spoke to me. We have been coming here for years without issue but had an awful dinner experience today. We had a party of 6 and ordered two apps. For starters, the apps came out about 10 minutes after we ordered them and we did not even have waters. I understand waiting on the bar, but not on a fountain drink. We requested cornbread but it did not come out until our entrees came out, which took at least 40 minutes and I had to ask the server to check on our food. The two salads came out and then took another 10 minutes for the rest of our tables food to arrive. My dad got medium well steak, which was served rare. Throughout the meal our server never offered us refills. The food was good but the service was poor. The manager was nice enough apologize and personally deliver the steak and take it off the tab but the service for the night was subpar at best. read more

We had a large group of 10 and had a minimal wait before being seated. Our server Jack was pretty great considering he was juggling 2 large table seated back to back and our son has an allergy. This was handled by the manager and staff with 1st class....my son was spoken with and assisted with what he could prepare safely and he was assured precautions were taken. His food was brought out serperately from ours and he really enjoyed it. The rest of us enjoyed our meals it was delicious! This is literally the best bbq I have ever had in my life. They smoke their meat in house fresh every day!! I had the pulled pork and it was so tender and delicious. Amazing experience on a busy Saturday night during the season. Staff is great and Rory, the GM is beyond amazing (and not just because he's a USC Gamecock grad - we're big fans too!). You can tell he is passionate about his role at BB and that translates to a strong customer-focused staff. Our table of 4 enjoyed The Pit Beef special, ribs, Pulled Pork and Brisket combos and yummy sides. The entrees were all tender and the meal left us all full even though the dessert menu looked terrific. Drinks were well made too. Sunday, brunch was terrible. Cold food, small portions for a 15 dollar breakfast, and slow service. My food came out cold and my wifes coffee tasted like water. They had the audacity to charge for the coffee. Had I not drove an hour to get here I would sent ny food back but I was hungry. We ordered a huge take out order: 2 pounds of Brisket, 2 pounds of pulled pork, and 2 full racks of ribs. Usually, one of these might not be as good as the rest,But All of Our Meats were Perfect! The brisket was fork tender and full of barbecue flavor. The St. Louis style ribs were incredibly delicious. They had a sweet and smoky flavor. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful. Then, there were the sides....the best garlic flavored mashed potatoes ever! Rich, creamy, and full of garlic flavor. Chessey macaroni and cheese that had us scraping the bottom of the container to get the last drop of cheese and macaroni. The coleslaw was fresh, crunchy, and well seasoned. So, dinner was a huge success with plenty of leftovers. When you take out an order that large,there is a lot of chance for error and these folks got it all done correctly. Have been here a couple times for both BBQ and other meals. Nice staff and quick, easy takeout with designated parking for those picking up orders. BBQ is really good as are the sides. Loved the BBQ potato salad - it was really unique. Salads and sandwiches really good too. And unexpectedly for a BBQ place, they have a great crab dip. Not bad. Real nice and consideratd servers here for one thing. A pretty straightforward mass BBQ joint, but provides the goods at least. Very good sides, some better than others as the mac n cheese is relatively ordinary, with some of the greens being fairly tasty. The signature ribs are good but not great or amazing, some minor charing on the tips unfortuantely, but not totally dry luckily either. Works out in a pinch. I used to love this place. Growing up I went there every summer and this is one of my family's favorite restaurants in bethany. My most recent interaction however has just left a bad taste in my mouth. Make sure to check your expiration date of on your driver's license before trying to order a drink here. If your from arizona make sure to bring your passport. They did not accept my boyfriend's and I's VALID STATE ISSUED driver license because our states expiration date is too high. I should not be punished because my state issues IDs with high expiration dates. I understand that the expirations may be different in each state but any establishment that services alcohol should be able to spot the difference between a real ID and a fake. I personally did not like the way the manager handled the situation and even as we were leaving there was no friendly good bye or anything. You can tell the level of hospitality as gone down at this restaurant which is a same because there food is amazing! read more

Want to start off by saying I don't do reviews often. We had a bachelor party with roughly 20 guys and the best way to get food as a group was to have it catered so we went through Bethany blues bbq. Not only did they deliver to OCMD, but the food was delicious. From the ribs down to the corn bread everything was top notch. I wish I lived closer so that I could order it more, so if you are in the area I would suggest stopping in here or even ordering catering. Thank you to the chefs if you get a chance to read this. Went there a few days ago for the first time. I ordered the special brisket pot roast and the wife ordered the burger. The waitress brought us some delicious corn bread. We waited a long time and finally got our chow. My pot roast special literally had no meat. There were a few shreds of beef and that was it. My wife's burger was super well done and she had ordered medium. I asked for the manager several times and when he came (JR) he was very good at handling our complaints. He comped our entire meal and took mine to the kitchen. I split my wife's burger and fries and enjoyed my salad which was fresh.
