I ordered an unusual wine from their list and James opened a new bottle just for me. That's great service! During our time there, we had many interactions with Tim (bar back), James (bartender) and Mike (server who has been there forever, so he says!) and they ALL were great!! The food was delicious! Generous portions, which arrived hot and beautifully presented. Definitely a 5 star experience in our opinion. Priced appropriately for the area ($120 for the 2 of us including drinks and food). Had a reservation for 5 at the boathouse on a rainy weekday. The restaurant was very busy, especially with the downpour of rain. We were seated in a high top in a corner. Bethany boathouse has ample seating, patio, outdoor, deck, inside, bar area, there are many tables making this spot great for groups and families. Located on a strip of water, this location is great for both views and people watching. I liked the high ceilings and funky fun decor. Our server was attentive and informative with the menu options. They have specials on food/drinks every day. We got the 20oz spiked hoop tea which was delicious. The chicken cheesesteak was standard, and the fries were extremely hard and dry. Ordered carryout over the phone. Ordered fish tacos with no pico. Picked up my phone and the tacos were covered in pico. I returned to the hostess stand to say my order was wrong. Was told that the tacos can't have pico removed, it was the side of pico that was removed. I expressed frustration at the time the order was placed that ordering without pico on the entree was not an option, as i fairly clearly don't like pico, and that would have been useful information to have so I can select another option. They offered to make something else, which, i guess that's literally the least they could do but by that point, my wife's order would be cold. No apology was offered, nor was any sort of discount/ cost offset, which was frustrating. Picked the pico off and ate the food, but the flavor had permeated the dish and it was ruined. This is another stop on our OCMD vacation every year. We typically sit outside by the "pond". Food is always amazing, drinks or cold and made well. This year our server was super happy and friendly. Went to this spot yesterday to celebrate a family member's birthday. Arrived at 730 on a Saturday night and the place was swarmed with customers. We were told by the staff that we would need to wait 90 minutes to 2 hours for a table for 6. We decided to go to the bar area and got drinks reasonably quickly from beverage Mike! He was a delight and super friendly and attentive! We were finally seated around 845 and the bar just kept getting busier and busier. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with waffle fries, and that definitely hit the spot! We stayed until 1115, as there was a DJ and nice vibes going but it was packed! I don't come to the ocean and run to the Boathouse, but if we see it my kids want to stop. They do have a good tuna and seaweed meal and giant pretzel that are delicious. My friend and I visited Bethany Boathouse on a Sunday (late) afternoon and got seated right away on the patio. The ambiance was pleasant and we arrived just in time for live music! Our server was so nervous but so sweet - I think it may have been her first day. For drinks, we both ordered boozy milkshakes. My friend chose the Aye Aye Captain and I got the one with Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey (can't find the name). Both were tasty, but not very boozy - mostly just a vanilla milkshake. However, they do offer floaters for an up-charge. For food, we shared the Chips and Dips and Lump Crabcakes Platter. The food came out quickly and portion sizes were very generous - we had plenty of leftovers to bring home! The food itself was good but nothing mind-blowing. I enjoyed this place. We just drove in to bethany and wanted a quick bite near our hotel. Seating was extremely fast even though it was packed. We ordered the wings and fries and basically got them in less than 10minutes. Service was super fast and seemed like they sometimes read our minds. UPDATE: 8/24 --- We had Happy Hour (3-5pm) at the Bethany Boathouse this past week & was pleasantly surprised. Last time we were here (9 years ago! Eeep!) it was chaotic and only a 3 star experience. But this time it was a super experience! Why did we wait so long? Christie, our fav bartender from OVBFG, took great care of us! Kind, attentive, funny, and caring. She's such a treasure! Mom got a not too stingy pour of Pinto Giorgio in a fun short souvenir cup and I tried their 20oz Orange Crush also in a take home squeezee cup! We sampled the Happy Hour food at the bar. We shared an excellent plate Chicken Nacho's and handful of Steamed Shrimp and waffle fries both reasonably priced at $7.50. It was a clear breezy afternoon and it was lovely - GREAT VIBE! read more

The Bethany Boathouse food is good. The Pretzel is huge in size and flavor. I love that it has plenty of cheese and mustard sauce. The Fish & Chips are great with a generous portion of fish, a small side of really good Cole slaw, yummy tartar sauce, and very tasty Waffle fries. The Fish tacos are tasty, and have slaw and pico, and are also served with tasty waffle fries. The outside seating is not as cool as the inside hi top tables which have AC, but it was a cool day & was pleasant. There is a fountain out front that entertains the kids with a mechanical alligator head the rotates in the water. The service was great. The bar looks fun with several large T .V.s set up to watch sports. I love the food and service & will be back. read more

If you come to Bethany you have to check out the Boathouse. Great place for families and in the summer they have live music some nights. They do also have online waitlist that you can join if you are here during the busy season. Be prepared though service can sometimes be slow when you first arrive, but once you order food comes out fairly quickly. The crushes are great! I love their shrimp tacos. Perfect amount of shrimp and a little kick from the pico makes them delicious. Waffle fries are also crispy and yummy. Crab cakes are good as well! Stopped by the Boathouse while on vacation in Bethany Beach for dinner and drinks. We drove over from South Bethany and the parking lot was really busy, so you may have some trouble finding a spot. The place was packed but luckily we scored two seats at the main bar. The Boathouse is a very chill, casual vibe. They have live music daily and a play area for kids. There's no air conditioning, just some ceiling fans, so it can feel quite warm in there if it's a hot/sticky night. For drinks, I tried the spicy pineapple margarita crush and my fiancé got the orange crush. The drinks were good but very pulpy. My fiancé later ordered a frozen Miami Vice. One of the bartenders said he wouldn't have agreed to make it, too much waste, but luckily the one who took our order said he would. It was a really good Miami vice. For food, we started with the homemade jalapeno poppers. They were really tasty. For mains, I got the fried shrimp basket and my fiancé got the cheesesteak with a side of waffle fries for us to share. The food was pretty good. The dynamite sauce with the shrimp was really tasty. The guacamole dip was excellent. The spiced shrimp was deveined and was just cooked perfectly. However, the crab salad needs some serious help, the blandest salad. Some seasoning would help a lot, something. My wife enjoyed her appetizer ahi tuna, giving this place 3 stars. You pay over $90 for dinner and at least you expect some real plates, not paper plates or paper platters. The food and drinks are fine. Our issue was that we waited for a table for one hour and twenty minutes after an estimated 30 minute wait time. We even asked if we could split our large party into groups of 4 and 5. Then we saw 4-5 groups (at least) seated ahead of us. When we asked the server stand, they told us twice that our table was paying now. Then another 15 minutes went by. Here's a picture of the sandbox where the kids have been playing for almost 90 minutes. It's all location here.
