We enjoyed dinner for two tonight at One Coastal. We had wonderful cocktails/wine, great food and attentive service. But, this is the second time we have been there when the smoke coming from the kitchen was unpleasant and burned our eyes. I really wish they would improve their exhaust system, or add some walls around the kitchen. Yes, it is fun to see the chef and culinary team in action, but the smoke can be overwhelming and could be eliminated with walls and double doors. It is unfortunate to have a wonderful meal charred by poor exhaust. read more

We made reservations here a few weeks before our trip in May because my DIL said we had to eat here. The Chef looks familiar, I think I tasted his food before at one of the Celebrity Chefs Brunches for Meals on Wheels. I remember it being fantastic. There is outside dining but I booked inside as we weren't sure how warm it would be in May. It turned out to be a cold and windy weekend so we were very glad to be inside, plus the outside tables have a view of the highway. What a cute little restaurant inside; it is very tiny. We were crammed into a table in the corner. It was difficult to get past the other diners at their tables, and we could hear all the conversations around us. Every table was packed, I can't imagine what it's like in this room during the busy summer. Noelle was our server and she was amazing; very knowledgeable and friendly. She described the homemade bread service to us, and we ordered 2 Coastalpolitans which were made with Tito's Vodka, lime, soju, St. Germaine, and cranberry. They were sweet, and tart, and bright, and delicious. We decided on crab toast instead of the bread, and Noelle said we made the right choice. Wow, she was correct. The crab toast blew us away. It was chunks of crab on fluffy, crispy milk bread with pickled scallions, radish, lemon aioli, kelp powder, and lime. So beautiful and so delectable! RJ ordered the Pork Chop, which Noelle said One Coastal is known for, and I ordered the NJ Day Boat Scallops. We had no words. We sat there and quietly enjoyed every bite while listening to the surrounding tables, and knew we found a maybe not so hidden gem. My scallops were delicate and buttery and sweet, and melted in my mouth. RJ said his pork chop was tender and juicy, and the best he ever had. That is saying something. We finished with bread pudding because who doesn't love a good bread pudding, and we like to try it whenever we see one that looks interesting. It was salty and sweet and just so perfect. What One Coastal lacks in space and view, it makes up for with food and service. What a delightful place, and Noelle was a pleasure and a joy. We will definitely return to try all the other things and be lucky to sit anywhere inside or out. read more

Decor/service: cute place with a nice bar. It is small so the tables are pretty close together. Staff was friendly but the food service was on the slow side. We waited pretty long between our appetizers and entrees. They list gluten and dairy containing products on the menu. Food: the food was fresh and you could tell everything was made in house. The menu changes frequently and what we saw online was different when we got there. The salad was good but could have used a splash or 2 more of dressing. They had a bread appetizer special which tasted like an upscale Texas Roadhouse bread and butter. The duck breast entree had great flavor but it didn't fully mesh well together. We were recently on a trip to Maryland and went to get dinner here one evening. Our good friend recommended it to my husband a couple of years ago, when he was visiting, and he ate here twice on that trip. He raved about it so I was excited to try the food... and it did not disappoint. I ordered the peach salad with a fermented honey dressing and ordered the scallops for my entree. The salad was one of the most delicious salads I've eaten in a long time and my scallops were the best I've ever had. My husband and daughter ordered the beets as an appetizer and had the steak for their entrees. Again, some of the best food we've eaten. Service was excellent and they were even able to get us in earlier than what our reservation was for, even with it being really busy. We will definitely be eating here again next time we're in town. read more

Just dined at One Coastal and highly recommend if you're traveling to Fenwick Island. Even though the outside dining is right on Coastal Highway, it's decorated very nicely and was enjoyable. Eastern shore local. Wanted to love it. The outdoor seating is a parking lot on coastal. Loud and some exhaust fumes. There is very little parking at the restaurant and multiple people circled and circled looking for a spot. The salad was great! The rolls were good - a little burnt on the bottom but soft on the inside. Good honey butter. The presentation of the main dish was nice. The fish was a good piece of fish which was well cooked. But there was No carbohydrate and the vegetables (squash) it was served on were not cooked. It was a raw hard zucchini that was cut in half down the long end and turned open, like two boats, then heavily peppered. We asked for softer fuller cooked vegetables but they came out the same and it definitely made the whole meal less palatable. By that point the fish was cold and some people had already finished eating. Totes Bummer! Our server was busy but attentive. For the hefty price tag, we were not impressed. Sad this one did not hit. Maybe a different menu item or a different night? Don't order anything with the squash and don't come for the ambiance. read more

Bartenders were so friendly and talented, whole staff seemed to enjoy working there which is a nice vibe to be in, food was PHENOMENAL. So fresh and creative. Drinks were outstanding. Crab appetizer I really enjoyed, asparagus could have been cut down a bit....just my opinion. My husband booked a reservation for my birthday tonight and I was so excited and looking forward to it for weeks. We get there and they wanted to seat us at the edge of the road. I dont want to eat exhaust with my dinner. We asked for an alternative and were told by the server and manager coldly with no emotion or regret it was that or nothing, take it or leave it. We left. I am so disappointed and will not go back. I had hoped to be singing their praises and instead I will never go back. They have the worst tableside manners, and clearly their culture is it is your privilege to eat there, not their pleasure to host you. read more

We love One Coastal. What a gem at the beach using local ingredients and a frequently changing menu that also includes some consistent hits. The cocktail menu is also innovative, delicious and seasonal. It similarly features some favorites and the mixologists can seemingly make anything you desire. We've been many times without incident, but tonight's experience compels me to write. We arrived on time for our reservation to find no tables available and we were invited by Devon the host to go to the bar for a drink. No sooner than we had sat down did he reappear to tell us that where we were sitting (the only available seats) were only available to us until the party with a reservation at the exact same time as ours arrived. We must vacate a seat for a party with a reservation, but our reservation meant nothing for the party currently occupying our table? Perhaps Devon needs some additional training but this isn't the kind of front of house staffing that a James Beard nominated chef should have. As we awkwardly relocated to accommodate the bar reservation, Devon made himself scarce. Were we offered comped drinks or any other acknowledgment of the situation? No. It's going to be a long, hot summer if this is what customers can expect from such an otherwise great place. Devon has a bright future at Grottos in Ocean City. read more

My husband and I went here for the 2nd time in early September. This place is amazing!! It's very small and tucked into a strip mall on Coastal Highway. The staff is on point- they go above and beyond. The tables are a bit tight but it's not too bothersome. I don't think I have enough superlatives to describe the food! The first visit I had scallops which were layered with corn and oyster mushrooms. Every bite is a new surprise. My second visit I got the flank steak which was the best restaurant meal I've had in a long time. It was perfectly cooked and layered with potatoes and mushrooms. There were two sauces that were to die for not to mention the chimichurri on top ! They also have Parker house rolls made in house that were so good I really feel like you can't go wrong here . My husband and I went to One Coastal last night for the first time in years, and we will be back for another date night soon. The food is truly incredible, and you feel like you are dining in someone's home. Our server was attentive, and we were checked on throughout our meal by multiple staff. This place is really special. My husband and I always make sure to go here when we can get a reservation. The meals are unique, inventive, so flavorful and made with the highest quality ingredients. We absolutely love the entire experience of dining here. Every time we dine here I say I would get anything off of the menu- I really trust that everything will be good! Don't skip the parker house rolls with honey butter- they are the perfect start to what will be a fabulous dining experience. Came here on Sunday evening and was able to sit outside immediately and park in the lot right next door. This restaurant was so cute and had a unique but delicious sounding menu, it was hard to pick what to order! We got the Hello Summer and Sazarac cocktails which were delicious to start as well as the beef tartare appetizer. Then for dinner we got the Cacio Pepe, the spiced rubbed ocean city tuna entree, and New Jersey boat day scallops and all were so so good! The sizes of the entrees were large without being too much. We also go a dessert in a box to go though because we were too full to eat it right away at the table. We just finished a very wonderful meal there. I was with two other family members. We ordered the pear salad, the duck, and the tuna. We shared the plates and they were all excellent. We then had enough room for dessert so we tried the apple cobbler...amazing. I've been in some very nice restaurants in the last few months, but this really was exceptional. A wonderful dining experience...sort of. Such a shame the restaurant is so noisy and the outside dining looks onto Rt 1. I'll give the restaurant a 4 star review for the sauces and food combinations. The fish and pork chops were an excellent choice for my guests. Unfortunately I ordered the flank steak, medium rare. I didn't send it back which would have ruined the mood of the dinner, but the pork chop took 25 minutes to prepare. The flank steak came out luke warm and was not at all tender. It would have been better medium or medium well as it was a bit rubbery. The server should have warned me when she indicated to my guest that she preferred the pork chop. She was a bit abrupt and talked too fast. The Parker house rolls were a bit dry, not warm and tough. I'm from Baltimore and Parker house rolls are should be warm, soft with a lovely aroma and melt in your mouth. The honey butter helped but not enough. We ordered the strawberry short cake for dessert. The presentation was lovely and the strawberries fresh and sweet, but the short cake was dry. I assume it was awarded the James Beard for the sauces and creative combinations, which admittedly were wonderful, but there are some simple things the chef needs to consult his grandmother on how to prepare. read more

First time visit today and we are glad to have tried this gem. The service was excellent, the drinks were refreshing (The Honey Bee ), and the food delicious, visually appealing, too. We thoroughly enjoyed the Miso Tomato and Basil soup, Tuna Aquachile, Heritage Duroc Pork Chop, and Cacio e Pepe. The restaurant is a modest size with a small seating area outside and inside, along with a bar. The decor is attractive. We did not have a reservation, but were able to sit at the bar and enjoy the above mentioned without issue. Great work everyone! read more

The decor was great. The margaritas the best Ive ever had. The quality of the food was excellent. But the spices/seasonings were way off. The pork was insanely salty. The tuna was bland. Scallops were good. We looked to see if the chef Matt was there - he was. Not sure if he usually cooks, looked more like he was supervising. Kind of disappointed since most reviews are great.
