It was good but I won't get again, I'm not big into the sweet frozen stuff so I should have known better, but I was trying something different. As a table we started with warm cornbread. Myself and my daughter got the shrimp and grits, can't ever go wrong! My father got the big fat crab cakes (his go to staple), and my mom went with simple fried shrimp. We loved Catch 54 so much last year that we could not wait to come back for Happy Hour and Buck-a-Shuck Oysters & Clams again this year. I've been telling my wife for the past year how much she'd love it and it definitely didn't disappoint! My parents arrived in town earlier than we did and stopped here for happy hour without us, but we all made it back later in the week. A must try if you love oysters & clams -- just make sure you arrive a little before they open (4pm) because the bar fills up quickly!). We started with the star of the show, the raw bar of course! Between the 4 of us we had multiple orders of clams and oysters. We love oysters and a good buck-a-shuck is so difficult to find near us in Jersey, so we had to take advantage of this one. The oysters and clams always taste fresh--we've never had a bad one here. The calamari is tender and lightly breaded. The burger is a phenomenal deal served with their house-cut boardwalk fries that are to die for if you're a French fry aficionado! The food, both quality and prices, makes Catch 54 really stand out compared to so many other bars and restaurants of similar stature. My aunt loves crab cakes and said Catch 54's crab cake was phenomenal. Better than many other crab cakes she's had locally. Our drink orders included draft beer, the Sunset Spritz, and the Pineapple Martini (which was delicious and on happy hour!). The bartenders were great! Friendly, personable, attentive, made great drinks, and even remembered us from last year. That's unbelievable considering the number of customers they serve every night. Aside from the incredible, food-forward Happy Hour & daily Buck-a-Shuck (including weekends), another thing that sets Catch 54 apart from many other local restaurants we frequent in the area is the updated, modern decor and upscale, yet still casual, aesthetic that hits you as soon as you walk in. My only disappointment comes from myself -- I was only able to stop n once during our annual vacation but we made the most of it. Max was a server and he was wonderful from start to finish. We asked a lot of questions and probably drove him a bit crazy but he was patient, upbeat and attentive. We never went without water, drinks and he checked on us often. He was funny too! The food is ALWAYS amazing at Catch 54, never a bad meal and the view is my favorite on the Eastern Shore! This place (and this whole chain) have become a total joke. Service is terrible. They advertise HH and then make tables unavailable. Prices have gotten outrageous. Tried this out after dealing with the disaster that bluecoast has become. Called in advance to figure out if there would be seating for HH and was told wait would be 20-30 minutes max. We decide to make the 20 minute drive and when we got there, they told us it would be an hour if we wanted HH, but they could seat us immediately for regular tables. Deliberate deception. I will summarize my two most recent family dinners here during the Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends: Marlene took our 5:30 PM dinner reservation over the phone. I was here with my family of nine including two children for Friday night dinner after Thanksgiving day upstairs at a corner table. I started with my spicy margarita for $14. We also shared a bottle of Duckhorn Decoy Brut champagne for $52, which was reduced down to $26 by 50% off due to Friday 50% off on all wine bottles. The Decoy brut champagne was excellent. We also shared and enjoyed the crab dip for $21. We also shared and enjoyed three dozen raw oysters samplers for a total of $81. I also enjoyed my crispy duck confit special with pappardelle, basil pesto, fried onion and garlic chilli vinaigrette for $32. My total bill was $455 excluding gratuity. Morelia C. (nicknamed Mo) served us very well as usual despite us having two children. We first met Mo, when she bartended at the downstairs bar, when we were here prior for many Sunday afternoon happy hours. We returned here again with my larger family of 14 including five children for dinner on the Saturday after Christmas. We had a 5:30 PM dinner reservation. We were again seated immediately upstairs. I started with and enjoyed my two Makers Mark Manhattans up for $15 each. We also shared and enjoyed two dozen raw oysters samplers for $27 per dozen. We also ordered and enjoyed one dozen of the more expensive Raspberry Points for $48. Raspberry Point Oysters are premium, cold-water farmed oysters from Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, prized for their firm meat, distinct briny flavor with a sweet finish, and deep cups, taking 5-7 years to mature in New London Bay's tidal waters. They're known for being easy to shuck and popular in gourmet settings due to their consistent quality and appealing salty-sweet profile. We also shared the calamari for $17 and the devilled eggs for $19. I also enjoyed my confit lamb shank for $38. Caleb M. served us very well despite us having five children. My total bill was $737 excluding gratuity. Caleb applied our Indian River High School band 10% discount to our bill, which reduced the total from $737 down to $663 excluding gratuity. On Sunday's our favorite bartender is Nick C. Nick said hello, when we visited during the Thanksgiving holiday. My wife and I had dinner here with some family members while visiting them. The restaurant sits by the water and offers beautiful views of the bay. There is a lower and upper level of dining ateas. The food here is very good. I had the blackened salmon with mashed potatoes. It was delicious and not too spicy. My wife had the broiled salmon with boiled potatoes, also very good. There is a clam and oyster bar offering locally caught oysters and clams. The service is friendly and attentive. The dining areas are very clean but a little on the tight side. Prices are on the higher end but it's to be expected because the area is touristy, especially during the summer months. Parking can be difficult to find due to the very small parking lot. Thankfully there are nearby parking lots as alternatives. Reservation are highly recommended. I definitely recommend this restaurant especially for group gatherings. read more

Update on update. My folks were celebrating 63 years of marriage! My fiancé and I brought them to Catch 54 and it was more than we hoped for. You can see from the reviews that I'm a fan, but the service tonight was truly special. My mom is not well and most likely won't have another wedding anniversary, so this one mattered. Catch 54 offered amazing happy hour specials including some of the best calamari we've ever eaten. The restaurant itself is very pretty and had a nice water view. First of all, the ambience is amazing. Very inviting and beachy. However, that's where the charm ends. We got the shrimp and grits (bizarrely sweet and the shrimp were overcooked), the smashburger (fries were not seasoned and on the cold side) and the "special" shrimp salad. The special was billed as a fresh, local cucumber, tomato, onion and mozzarella salad with grilled shrimp with a vinaigrette. The tomatoes were cut in large pieces, as was the cucumber, requiring more cutting. The shrimp weren't seasoned and were way overcooked. And for $28, I expected a LOT more. She was friendly and showed us the specialty drink options and told us about the appetizers. As always, we ordered the oysters and they were so good with no shells! My friend suggested Catch 54 even though they only take reservations up to 6 p.m. When we got there, we waited about 20 minutes before we were seated (we had been told it would be a 30-minute wait). The booths were comfy and spacious , and the view of the bay was lovely. We started with the crab deviled eggs which were delicious although there wasn't a ton of crab. The entree was my favorite part of the meal. The day boat scallops fried rice was different, a little spicy, and delicious especially with a sunny side egg on top. We ended our meals with the honey cream cheese poundcake. The maple anglaise and brown butter crumb was the perfect combination especially with the scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
