My husband and I each wholeheartedly recommend this agency for anyone needing temporary or long term care in their own home. A little history: We thought we had an arrangement with another home care agency, but due to questionable agency practices, we did not hire them. This, unfortunately happened a week before I needed knee surgery. My husband, the client, cannot be left alone and needs some assistance that I wouldn't be able to provide. I called Serengeti purely based on their reviews. The manager, Tanya, came to our home the next morning. Based on our impression of her and how she described their services, and on the quality of her assessment, we signed up that day. They started immediately on the date we needed them. They did not disappoint. The aide that Tanya matched up for my husband was well suited in personality as well as in her compassionate, competent skills. Gina (our aide) is a lovely, warm woman who is a pleasure to have nearby. Her primary job is to keep him safe and she does this well. She, also, helps him as needed to do his physical, occupational, and speech therapy homework. She does light housekeeping (laundry, dishwasher, tidying up, etc) as needed when I am around to insure ongoing visual supervison. We wish we had hired Serengeti sooner. I sleep better and am more energetic. I don't have to do it all. We also cannot say enough good about Tanya, the manager. She is "johnny-on-the-spot" and has helped us expedite insurance requirements. She has also called them on our behalf. She is a dynamo. Her daughter, Tanika, is equally helpful. Another aspect of this agenct that bears mentioning is that they treat their employees -- all vetted -- well. When I read employee reviews of Serengeti, the phrase I read most was that they were treated like family. Tanya and Tanika have set the atmosphere. (Our aide finds this to be the best home care agency for which she has worked.)

They even helped my Dad discontinue medications that should have been stopped by the nursing home doctor by helping me understand how to talk with my Dad's primary care physician about his medications. I wish I had moved my Dad out of the nursing home and into this Adult Family Home sooner, because he received better care all around.

One caregiver manipulated our mother into believing her deceased husband was waiting for her in the kitchen for the reason to coax her into drinking tea at the kitchen table; appalling and unethical tactic when dealing with a dementia patient who cannot distinguish between reality and deception. Same caregiver started spreading lies about one sister claiming she was negligent and uncaring. This is the one sister/daughter who has taken our mother to church and brunch every Sunday for over 5 years plus. Our mother lights up every Sunday when she arrives to take her to church. Another caregiver never engaged our mother; hence, providing her with the social interaction she desperately needs. She consistently ignored our mother's attempts at conversation; caregiver spent her days talking on her cell phone. This is not caregiving; it is abandonment. She was depriving our mother every day of the human connection and care she deserved. Another caregiver stepped over the line of employee and employer. She believed she controlled the other caregivers, demeaned family members and became demanding at times. She openly criticized family members' choices if they did not match hers. Her oversteps lead to the decline in the quality of care she provided. The thread that tied these failures togethers was the gross mismanagement of HomeWatch's Manager, Mountlake Terrace. She repeatedly demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, maturity, and competence in her role. Note: All of the negligence and elder abuse has been downloaded on in-home cameras. Cameras which the State encouraged once we had 24/7 in-home care. We have found an organization that is professional, provides 75 hours of training plus dementia training, all caregivers are certified, extensive background checks... There are a number of very good companies in Washington State. Take the time and do the work to find the company that will provide your love one with the care they richly deserve.

I stopped using them for about 6 months because I had plenty of supplies, but on March 7th I contacted them to restart service with one very clear condition: I needed supplies delivered by Friday, 5/22, because I'm leaving the country the following week for 3 weeks. Despite confirming the urgency, UPS tracking now shows the package will arrive 2 days after I leave. At this point, maybe one of the neighbor kids will steal the package thinking it's something fun or valuable -- surprise. I will absolutely be discontinuing service with Performance Home Medical for multiple reasons, including the fact that every single person I've talked to -- from intake to managers -- has been completely incompetent and incapable of handling even simple customer requests. I've spent hours on hold waiting for answers, and I've been lied to by both representatives and managers and the call back system they have doesn't work at all. NEVER AGAIN!
