When my puppy Tyson was nine months old, he developed an intense fear of the vet's office. He refused to get anywhere near the building. So, when it was time for his 1-year shots and check-up, I tried having Better Vet and another local vet make house calls. Unfortunately, Tyson was still too anxious to let those vets near him. That's when we reached our last resort: full-on sedation with anesthesia. Thankfully, BetterVet could do that in their van right outside our apartment building. Renee and Dr. Tunison's work with Tyson was professional, caring, and comprehensive. They also made me feel a little better about having to make Tyson go under anesthesia just for his shots. I also appreciated that they followed up with me the next few days to ensure Tyson was fine. I met another vet from BetterVet this week. After Tyson spent almost a week continuously scratching, I went to the BetterVet website this past Monday, made an appointment for a video consult with Dr. Perry for Tuesday, and had the medicine prescribed by Dr. Perry on Thursday. Now, it's Friday and Tyson hasn't scratched himself all day. Dr. Perry nailed it. I've been impressed with the people at BetterVet and the video consultations have been efficient and convenient. I want to talk again about how amazing Dr. Fraser and Nicolette are. I've had my beautiful cat Hazel for about a year. She's a senior cat with some health and behavioral issues. Dr. Fraser has been here for me every step of the way. Dr. Fraser and Nicolette just left my house after I was concerned about Hazel's continuous loud meowing at seemingly nothing. It's confusing and upsetting. I don't know if I can explain how kind and reassuring they are. And sometimes that's what you need more than the medical stuff. They both have vocal cats and reassured me that I'm doing a good job as a cat mom. They did blood work at my urging, but Dr. Fraser asked me questions about changes in her habits and reminded me that this had been going on a long time and that we're treating her w anti-anxieties. She thinks Hazel was an outside on the streets cat before I adopted her and likely was just used to being very vocal. All of this was so insightful and she gave me some ideas about how I can reframe my guilt and worry into this is just my cat and I can just chatter back or ignore her when I'm too busy to constantly try to figure out what she needs. This company has horrible customer service and will not end my membership. Do NOT use these services. I asked to end my membership for the wellness plan SEVERAL times via email and phone and they are still charging me close to $100 per month. And they say every time, "well you can't cancel till next year" even though I told them to cancel months before my deadline of renewal. I will be reporting these charges as fraud going forward. We initially decided to call BetterVet when our 7 year old saucy cat got very sick as he was so aggressive at past visits it had been recommended that he be sedated for future visits so we thought a home vet would be less stressful for us all. Dr. Fraser was super honest when she saw how bad he was doing and recommended that we take him to the emergency vet rather than proceed with her examining him and waiting on lab results which would all have to be repeated at an emergency vet anyway. Sadly our 7 year old was diagnosed with kidney failure and wasn't responsive to the emergency treatments and as he got worse we made the difficult choice to euthanize him that same week. I appreciated Dr Fraser's honesty and that they didn't proceed with what would be a redundant exam and lab tests. Although they never treated our 7 year old at that first visit they did do an exam on our 15 year old cat whose blood work revealed thyroid issues. Dr Fraser and her assistant were wonderful with our 15 year old and she has been great at communicating with us and coordinating her care. She even arranged for an ultrasound at our residence, making things less stressful for her. When we made the choice to adopt two kittens we decided to continue with BetterVet. Although I suspect we could find less expensive care for them, the convenience of having them come to our home and the wonderful care and attention they have received from Dr. Tunison and her assistant have been well worth it. I will say that the BetterVet App and website could use some work. I have found that appointments don't always show up properly but the support staff, especially Brooke, have always been responsive to my emails and have patient with me sorting any issues on scheduling out with me. Aside from working out the kinks with the scheduled appointments not showing properly it would be great for their medical records to be accessible through the app rather than a separate webpage but those are just technical issues, the people from the vets, their techs, and the customer support representatives have all been wonderful and I highly recommend them read more

I can't recommend Bettervet enough!! My cat had a very traumatic experience last night at the AVES emergency clinic where they forcefully shoved him into his carrier. When I brought him home I realized they had significantly damaged some of his nails and one was bleeding very badly. This morning I stumbled upon Bettervet and requested to get on their waitlist. An hour later they reached out saying they had availability and could see my cat today. The booking process was super smooth and user friendly. I got text messages letting me know when they were on their way along with an ETA. They also texted me when they arrived. Dr. Pollack and Ronnie the technician were beyond amazing. They were so kind and so gentle and so patient with my cat. They asked questions to understand what had happened, and they were so thorough in their approach. What I appreciated most was their bedside manner and their empathy. Dr. Pollack explained what they were doing, the rationale, and the treatment plan. He talked through what to expect and what to look out for, as well as what game plan to use for various hypothetical scenarios. We were also able to get my cat up to date on his vaccines. I am truly so grateful to have found Dr. Pollack and Ronnie and the Bettervet business. Again, I can't recommend them enough and will definitely be using their services in the future. read more

We had an incredible experience with Dr. Zachary Pollack and Ronnie! I adopted a shelter puppy that is extremely nervous and they both had a great deal of patience and advice. I was nervous to take him to a vet office due to his extreme fear so this was a great option. I found a promo code off of Reddit for $50 which took care of most of the travel fee. I was able to get an appointment a few days in advance from an 8-11am time frame. They showed up around 9:20. They sent automated texts updating me a smaller time frame before the visit, when they are on the way, and when they have arrived. Highly recommend! read more

She and her team have always been prompt, patient, and have answered any questions we've had without making us feel pressed for time like is so often the case with veterinarians. My dog, Tiger, is 13 years old and had her first in-home vet visit with Dr. Elizabeth Fraser and nurse Ben Greenthaner. They were great! My dog has gotten anxious with vet visits and it is just so much more relaxing for her and for me to be able to be home for the visit. She was able to get her vaccines, blood drawn, and a complete check up. BetterVet has been responsive over email, arrived on-time, and sent a text reminder when they were 10 minutes out. I did not notice what the system had done when I clicked to pay for my appointment booking. When I went to manage the subscription, a notice stated that they would not cancel the subscription no matter when it was cancelled. THIS IS A SCAM. If I selected that I do not want it, I should not have to worry about it being unselected for me. Dr Pollack is very good with my male cat that was formerly feral but is now spoiled rotten. Dr Pollack brings an assistant with him (Taylor is one of them) and they have taken great care of Kitty, answered questions, and made helpful recommendations. I like that the App gives me a heads up on when they're going to arrive, so I don't have to keep the cat in the bathroom for hours. We scheduled BetterVet to come to our house and check out our dog. They provided a 6 hour window that they would arrive for the appointment. Prior to their arrival, my wife took our daughter to the doctor due to her being sick the night before. I received a notification that BetterVet had arrived at our house at 12:42 PM and responded stating that my wife should be there shortly. I received a response that they were leaving by 12:50PM (See Attached). I then tried calling the phone number that text me and did not get an answer. My wife arrived at the house at 12:51 to find no one there. Upon reaching out to customer service, I explained the situation and was told that they would get back to me that day regarding the cancellation fee and to reschedule an appointment. 11 DAYS later I received the attached correspondence informing me that they waited 15 minutes at my house (NOT TRUE) and were charging me a $75 cancellation fee. Extremely poor communication and delayed medication.We also seek a second opinion from another vet and found out that the medication that the vet from bettervet gave us was totally useless - we were told that the dosage was completely wrong. Where should I start? 1. We were given a time frame to expect the doctor, doctor did not arrive within time frame (which is fine by us but then don't bother giving a time frame and make us wait). In the email it says that we will be informed if doctor is running late - nope nobody informed us. I called the hotline and the condescending lady on the phone told me that she will reach out to check with the doctor and call me back - nope she didn't bother to call me back. 2. Moving forward the next day, Doctor emailed me in the morning that the prescription will be ready soon. 5 hours later and I'm still staring at my phone waiting but no news lol. Again, called the hotline and Ms Amy picked up and told me "oh she will check with the doctor." Fast forward, I only received my medication FOUR days later because they had to work with ONE particular company to release the commonly found medication (probably wanna earn commission) and that took FOUR days to reach us. Our poor kitty... My point is, if you wanna charge premium fees then at least justify the experience. This experience has been utterly unpleasant, unprofessional and our poor kitten is just waiting for someone on the other end to send a prescription lol. We spend $280 for nothing. Had to go to a different vet after this shitty experience. Shame on this company. read more

The team was quick, efficient, and transparent about cost etc. The app also allowed for effective communication. The whole experience was a relief because I needed to get my doggo into a vet in the middle of the working day, and they drove straight to my home which minimized the stress of having to load up my reactive dog and take her to a vet in a stressful state. Had out first visit today and it was great. Taking Lyra to an office visit is a nightmare due to her high energy and anxiety. She loved Dr. Tunison (it was obvious because when a new person enters our home she will bark non-stop if she isn't sure but not today). Vet was patient and gentle and respectful of the cost impact; while it is a bit more to have them come to your home it was totally worth it to save the trip to an office, deal with the desk staff, keep our dog calm in unfamiliar setting, wait for Vet to get to you, then checkout process. Do not recommend for sick animals. They're probably fine for well animals. The doctors who came to our house were excellent, but we only had one appointment so the sample size is small. The problem with this company is if your animal friend is sick. I think this company is like AAA, where a national company contracts local mechanics to work with you, except that Better Vet does not have the resources that AAA does. To extend the analogy, if Better Vet was AAA and your car broke down, you could well find yourself out of luck with them and scrambling for somebody else to help. Specifically in our case: we had an end of life consult and joined the Wellness club for as long as our kitty would be alive, knowing it would not be long. We were told that if there were no openings online when it was time for a euthanasia visit, to call because they were available for last minute emergencies. Their advertising says they do emergency same day visits. Untrue. Online showed one appointment a week from when we needed it; we called & indeed the first appointment was a week away. I went ahead and put myself on the waitlist online, knowing it was like a message in a bottle, and when I called, I did not appear on the list. Another reviewer had an issue with timeliness for a sick pet - that tracks w my experience. The people we spoke with also seemed to be competent professionals. But that doesn't matter if you can't get care when you need it. read more

I made an appointment last week for my cat, Barnabus because he was needing a general check-up and to get his vaccines updated. It was super simple to schedule the appointment online and there were several availabilities for appointments open! I am entirely impressed with BetterVet-they came right in, and did my cat's exam and vaccines right here in the living room! Rachel and Dr. Lyndsey were both amazing with Barnabus. He doesn't do well in the car or with other animals, so the idea of taking time off from work, driving him to the vet during the day, and then sitting with him + several other animals in a waiting room makes me so nervous, so this was the best thing for us!
