Y'all- the pairing of spicy cilantro pesto with the fresh pasta and grilled onions and red peppers is something I'll be thinking about the entire flight home. The perfectly grilled chicken was cut to the same size/shape as the casarece making for a perfect mouthfeel. You can tell that there was care and thought in the creation of this dish. Excellent Italian restaurant with top notch service, nice ambiance, and yummy food. Two friends recommended this restaurant and I finally had a chance to try it out. Located in a strip mall with it's own private free parking next to Vons. It has plenty of indoor seating as well as a covered patio that also has heaters for the winter. There's also a private room available for a party. The complimentary photo booth near the entrance is a great idea. The staff is super welcoming and friendly. Our waiter, Richard, is the best. He's very courteous and friendly. The menu has lots of yummy options. They can also make it gluten free. They start off with complimentary bread and olive oil, which is good. The Brasato short ribs is a must! It was so tender and juicy. The meat just fell off the bone. The Rigatoni al pesto is an excellent choice. Perfectly cooked with lots of flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner here. I came into Redondo Beach for a quick R&R getaway and knew I had to come back to Bettolino for their fresh pasta. I ordered the Sorrentini--tagliatelle with scallops in a lemon sauce--and it was absolutely delicious. The pasta was perfect, the scallops were cooked just right, and the light sauce with arugula and burrata tied everything together beautifully. I cleaned my plate. I was too full for dessert, so I ordered the bread pudding to go and enjoyed it later on my hotel balcony. The orange elder blossom cocktail was also refreshing and bright. They give you bread and olive oil after being seated and it was warm and super delicious. I ordered the Farrata salad without the burrata (I'm lactose intolerant and can't have cheese.) I got it with shrimp added. It was super delicious! The perfect salad... healthy ingredients yet it's also warm and comforting from the farro and quinoa. The flavors are great. I would definitely get this again! The shrimp was good but pretty plain, so I'd be curious to try it with another protein or just getting it without any would be fine too. I also got a cappuccino with almond milk which was good too, and it was topped with a cute B for the restaurant but it was also perfect for me because of my name :) Great meal here! I originally planned to visit for their Monday date night special but ended up stopping by on a Friday instead. The experience was enjoyable overall, despite a slow start. While the host was too busy to greet us, the busgirl was quick to notice and got us to a table, and our waiter was very friendly throughout the night. The Pear Necessities cocktail and Calamari were a perfect start. The Brasato was the highlight--everything on the plate worked perfectly. My experience here was extremely disappointing. From the moment we sat down, the service was poor. We asked for the house bread early in our meal, but it never arrived. It wasn't until we finished our appetizer, meal, and drinks that someone finally brought it out, which completely defeated the purpose. What made the experience even worse was the way we were treated compared to other customers. The interaction left me feeling singled out and, honestly, I walked away feeling like I had been racially profiled. Whether that was the intent or not, that's how the service came across. Good service is about making every guest feel welcomed and valued, and unfortunately that wasn't my experience. We had such a wonderful meal the first visit, Jane selected Bettolino Kitchen for her birthday dinner. Turned out to be a great call. Our hostess set us up in a spacious both, complete with a Happy Birthday sign on the table. We were served by Monty who was superb. Started with a bottle of Cuvée which was reasonably priced. After working on a first glass, Monty took our appetizer order. Forget the name of the dish, but they were delicious crab puffs. Next up, we tried their salad with arugula and other nice ingredients. Again, delicious. Both of our entrees were outstanding. The pacing of the meal was leisurely which allowed us to savor the food and enjoy the evening. It was my husband & my first date night in a long time and we chose to try a new place, which we all know can go 50/50. Well, we started off the with Farrah's salad and it was absolutely delicious. We then ordered some warm focaccia bread, the eggplant and the braised short rib as our main plates. Being a vegetarian it can be hard to find a good dish many places, but I was beyond happy with my choices, and my husband said the short rib was also great. Between the atmosphere, the server Monte who deserves a 5 star himself- from his greeting to explaining the menu and his whole vibe that right there is exactly what brings people back somewhere and the attention to plating details- it made our day. We made reservations for our family a few weeks ago to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived, there was a complimentary Photo Booth at the entrance. It was fun to take photos and have them sent to our emails. During Happy Hour, drinks and appetizers were $3 off. We enjoyed the calamari and the cocktails. Our table ordered a variety of entrees and beverages. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Only downer was when we brought a small cake and asked our waiter to hold it for us. He said it would be a $20 cake fee. He did not cut the cake and only provided plates at the end of the meal. Guess I should have asked ahead of time if there was a cake fee. Some restaurants offer a dessert to the person celebrating their birthday, but none was offered. The restaurant was busy by the time we left before 6:30. Glad we got to try them. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the South Bay! Handmade and fresh pasta?! How can you beat that. I keep going back and I honestly eventually want to try each pasta dish. The GNOCCHI CON TARTUFO is by far one of my favorites. The truffle isn't too overpowering and everything is light. The pasta cake is so unique!!!! Would definitely recommend because the texture was so soft and fluffy but chewy at the same time. It wasn't too sweet and honestly the perfect size for two people to share after both eating pasta lol. Service is amazing, staff are always so friendly. They also give fresh bread out and make sure you're doing great. Ambiance is nice, dog friendly outdoor area. There are those space heaters as well. There is a big parking lot that gets busy and street parking. I would recommend making a reservation unless if you're okay waiting a little for a table. My family and I visited Bettolino Kitchen for a joint birthday dinner for myself and my dad. I chose the restaurant because of all the positive Yelp reviews, particularly for a great place to celebrate a birthday. We made a reservation in advance and mentioned that we were celebrating two birthdays. Our server was friendly and wished me a happy birthday when she checked my ID. I shared that it was also my dad's birthday and that we were out to dinner to celebrate. We started off with delicious complimentary bread with olive oil and herbs. For appetizers, we ordered the gnocchi fritti which I really enjoyed. Loved the texture of the gnocchi with a hint of cheesiness. The brussels and balsamic appetizer was just okay--needed a bit more flavor or something to make it stand out. I got their version of a Moscow Mule (Mule 310), which was light. The pear puree flavor didn't really come out through, but the drink was refreshing. For my main, I got the pistachio-crusted halibut. I really enjoyed the flavor of the fish with the pistachio coating and mashed potato base. It was a really solid dish. I also got the gemelli rafano, their short rib pasta. This dish would have been an absolute hit, but the pasta was way too al dente to the point of being undercooked. I ended up taking it home and heating it up to cook it through a bit more. One of my family members got the salmon and everyone agreed that that was probably the best dish. For dessert, we ordered their flourless chocolate cake to share. It was just okay honestly. The vanilla ice cream was heavy on the vanilla extract so left me with an artificial taste. The thing that really disappointed me was that they didn't do anything special for our two birthdays. I understand that not every restaurant does complimentary desserts which is fine, but not even a candle so that we could sing happy birthday. Perfectly fried, and I loved the fried lemon slices! For my main entree, I had the PESCE AL PISTACHIO, and each bite was delectable! It looks a little like the branzino dish if you aren't careful, but 100% delicious! I loved every bite! The halibut was perfectly prepared (not overdone THANK YOU) and the lemon pesto sauce was a party in my mouth! I think the waiting staff needs to write down the orders because they maybe look a little more "on top of it" by not writing down the order, but before the main dish, the main dishes and even the desserts there were missing items that we had to ask for. The food was decent - the flavors are good, the composition was decent / nothing special, and the pasta texture was good, but didnt feel homemade or as fresh as anticipated. Service is great here, never had a bad service, very attentive. Food is amazing here, never had anything bad here. What I really like is their children's menu, finally a restaurant that doesn't just have your typical American food like chicken tenders, pizza, grill cheese, hotdogs or hamburgers. They actually have mini adult portions for the kids like Salmon, veggies, pasta, and fruits, for desserts fruits with chocolate drizzle. Something I would eat. What I do love is that they had gluten free Wednesday but it is no longer part of their menu. I will say, they made one of the best gluten free pastas I have ever had! But, the good thing for gluten intolerant people, they use imported Italian flour (for gluten intolerant people you can eat this without any issues! Just the pasta thou!). Food: *WATERMELON PANZANELLA - it was good.. *CALAMARI CON GAMBERI-very good *DEL MARE-homemade pasta, delicious! * PESCE AL PISTACHIO- it's a hearty fish dish, husband said it was really good *bambino's (baby/child menu) - my kid loves this, usually does not like to order under children's menu.
