I have been looking for the best Lasagna in South Bay and I genuinely think this is it! Theres a perfect balance of cheese, creaminess, and the meat sauce. It comes served with garlic bread, which was also soft and cheesy. Ended with the tiramisu which the chef brought out and told me that he made it himself. It's a bit different than the usual tiramisu as it does not have the cocoa powder on top, but I actually prefer it this way! The mascarpone cream was so soft and with just enough sweetness, not overwhelming at all. The bottom was soaked in the coffee, so refreshing and a great contrast to the light sweetness of the mascarpone. Talked to the chef for a little bit, he said that he uses multiple different imported cheeses and the sauce is stewed for more than 5 hours to get the deeper flavor, which is why the Lasagna was so good. After passing by this restaurant so many times, we finally went for dinner. Alex was very kind. Nice lighting. He recommended the house Chianti which was good. Now for the food: The bread was very good with an interesting olive oil, sun-dried tomato, garlic dipping sauce. The calamari that was highly touted on other reviews was average. No tentacles but mostly rings and some smaller pieces. The Caesar salad was large but average also. No serving spoons were given for any dishes. No extra Parmesan was offered until requested. We shared the prawns with angel hair pasta. The prawns were served separately and were nice and large. The pasta and vegetables were okay. We love garlic, but everything was very strong in garlic. Alex was kind to give us a complimentary tiramisu which we heard was excellent. It was average and flat in appearance. An average meal for us. read more

"Di Roma Cucina" is located on Hawthorne Boulevard, in Torrance. The store has a lot of visibility. As a local, I've passed by it many times. I just never tried it out, until recently. We ordered: Calamari, as a starter; Lasagna, Angel Hair Pasta and Bolognese as entrees. (If you check the restaurant's website, a menu with current prices is posted.) I cannot confirm, but based on appearance and taste, it seems that all of the pasta dishes are prepared from scratch. (Some major chains utilize a lot of prepackaged ingredients in the preparation of their Italian food.) The pasta was al dente. It was not over salted--overall the pasta dishes had a "light" taste to them. The only minor critique was that the entrees arrived too soon after the arrival of the appetizer. Perhaps it was because it was midweek, but we were the only ones in the restaurant during our visit. So, I'm a little unsure what the rush was. But the food prep was solid; the service was good; and the pricing was reasonable for the quality and portion presented. read more
