    El Diablo Burger
    Hyeonmi S.

The biscuits were there BEST part. I got the El Diablo burger which despite the name and price the taste was pretty regular. It wasn't a bad burger but there was nothing special about it. The outside area was a nice seating area and the service was great.

I've been coming to hook and plow for 5 years consistently, the food and drinks are absolutely incredible. I came inside today to sit at the bar, have a meal and a drink with a friend, and it is so unbelievably warm inside. It's like the AC isn't working at all. I see the employees sweating behind the counter and I can tell that they're miserable too, though they put on a good smile for us. This is one of my favorite spots. Please fix the AC, it's hard to enjoy a drink when it's so warm.

We tried happy hour here and would definitely return for dinner. We ordered the furikake fries and they were good but it's hard to screw up fries. The sliders were the best thing we tried, the crunchy onions with the caramelized sweet onions and the cheese sauce made the superb. The Grassfed beef was juicy and flavorful. I kinda wished it was a whole burger though, the sliders were very small. The fish taco was good but a little bland, once again very small. The shrimp cocktail was solid. Drinks were good. Happy hour prices reflect the portion size, so I thought it wasn't a bad value. Food was high quality as well.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - ordered the Hook & Plow Benedict with smoked salmon, two poached eggs, brava crispy potatoes, marinated capers, and hollandaise sauce. The smoked salmon was quite salty, the potatoes a bit bland, and the capers quite sour. So if I got a bite of everything, it was fairly good but it was a bit difficult to hunt for the tiny capers and ensure that the ratio of salmon to potatoes were perfect. Service: 5/5 - we arrived just after 10:00 as they were still setting up. Once ready, they immediately greeted us and let us pick any seat that we preferred. He gave us his full attention with no urgency so we were able to just enjoy our meal and chat. Ambiance: 5/5 - we sat outside on a beautiful Saturday morning with some holiday decorations. It was quiet, so it was easy to have a conversation! Value for price: 3/5 - great atmosphere so it was the perfect place to hang out and catch up. Unfortunately, not the best meal at $20+ per dish for some smoked salmon tossed on potatoes.

A super good vibe for lunch on a sunny afternoon. The menu a bit fish funky so I ordered different things and made my own. One might see nubile mermaids occasionally glide by, but who's looking. Pure So Cal. Great stop after Palos Verdes ocean cliffs and their undulating roads.

My dedication to the fine restaurant

The hook and plow burger was absolutely excellent, exactly what our group needed after the beach was destroyed with hordes of people. This was the calming vibe we needed, and provided great service with amazing food. The steak sandwich was delightful and don't forget to try the frikake fries! I had such a great time I was inspired to get a hook and plow temporary henna tattoo! Special thank to chef Raoul, he is the man and classy one at that! You could say he hooked my Interest, and then plowed my tastebuds! The bartender looked exactly like the guy with the fingernails from Wolverine and he was just lovely!

Great food and phenomenal service from Stefanie! Would come back, definitely recommend! Loved the outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade, it was relaxing and great place to grab a bite to eat!

It was a beautiful 4th of July day and Hubbers and I didn't want to waste the day. So we woke up early-ish, stopped at the coffee shop for waker-uppers as well as pup cups for fur babies we were with, then took them to the dog park. While there, Hubbers and I discussed where to go for lunch. Dog friendly is a must since we had pups with us. Using the process of elimination, we thought this was the best place to go. We came through early so street parking wasn't a challenge. It was so early, in fact, that this place was r even open yet. So we took the time to explore its immediate surrounding areas: shops, more eateries, learning the beach is only a couple blocks away, etc. It wasn't very busy so we were seated immediately. The sun was blaring a bit much so we opted for shade (they have plenty of umbrellas, so all good!) Immediately, we knew exactly what to get the pup. We wanted to try so many things on the menu but we decided to get a couple of starters and go from there: ROASTED PEAR AND BURRATA: Our server (my memory sucks, but I think his name was Tyler?) suggested we split the plate (at no extra cost) as we might enjoy it more. He was right, it was easier. But I'll say this: I was addicted to this salad - I almost ordered another to take home! The blend of burrata, arugula and pecans with the truffle dressing were perfect. The cinnamon wasn't strong, but it added to the taste. SEAFOOD PLATTER (+ extra half dozen oysters): Everything was fresh! The oysters were shucked clean, the shrimps were bigger than what I'm used to (delish!), nice sauce on the Peruvian scallops, ceviche was seasoned well and came with guac a side of tortilla chips and the tuna poke (also with guac) was excellent. This platter sure got us off to a good start - and almost finish! CLAM CHOWDER: We were gonna Antonio this, but we were much too curious. And boy, were we glad we got it: it is one of the best clam chowders we've had. (Top two, for sure!) It was very tasty, and very hearty! There was a lot of depth and love made with this soup. Get this! TEMPURA FISH TACOS: We were kinda full at this point, but this we also had to try. Made to order, fish was battered thin. It honestly didn't need anything: the sauce was a good match with the fish. Me likey! We liked this place so much, we came back with two other peeps with us (before I got the chance to write a review!) We were served by Brittany who was also very friendly and welcoming, but not as efficient or attentive as Tyler. (We didn't get one of our orders - which happened to be my favorite part and burrata salad - and it was hard to flag her done when needed. I'm not faulting her for that, too, they did seem understaffed. FOOD: 5. There was nothing we didn't like! SERVICE: 4.5 (5 for Tyler, 4 for Brittaney.) VALUE: 4. More than fair. PARKING: Street only. Metered parking at $2/hr. OVERALL: 4.5. Excellent first (and second!) run. Although Hubbers and I talked about trying out other places around here, we'd always come back and recommend this place.

    Dry Hamburger

The place has a rustic feel to it. Met a friend here. The night we came here only two people were working on the floor. Service suffered. Skip the Cheddar and Scallion Biscuit for 7.00 dollars each they were burnt the taste was not good. When asked the server replied that's how they are supposed to be. Clam Chowder tastes as if it was made days prior. The burger was overcooked. Bad night won't be coming back

Fantastic food! We had a group of 9 people and booked a table on the patio. Everyone loved what they ordered! We started with calamari, furikake fries and battered avocado. Then I had the shrimp and grits, which was a perfect dish - I only wish I had the space to have eaten more. It really was rich, cheesy, creamy and good with jumbo shrimp and perfectly cooked sunny side eggs. Dessert was this yuzu cheesecake, which was not to tart or sweet. Just a perfect note to end on! My daughter had the apple cobbler and liked it so much she didn't want to share! Lol

    Breakfast Burrito was the bomb!
    Susan S.

Always the best food and service. Sure hope they bring back the outdoor seating! I usually get the Breakfast Sandwich and thought I would try the Breakfast Burrito. So glad I did. It was the bomb!

The restaurant has inside seating for 40 guests and outside for 30. We arrived between breakfast and lunchtime and were able to get the last outside table. The attentive staff got us seated right away, and after browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items (arrived in 15 minutes) : Marine: The buckwheat outer layer was soft, not soggy, and with nice resistance. The light creamy tomato-based dressing with sliced mushrooms was pleasantly flavorful. Both shrimp and scallops were of good size, fresh and juicy. Fromage: Like Marine Crepe, the buckwheat out layer was soft. The mild brie cheese provided pleasant creaminess to the filling. Seasoned bacon, scrambled egg, onion, and mushroom added nice savoriness to the dish. The portions were sensible and the prices were reasonable. Very nice culinary experience.

From the incredible waterfront views to the amazing food and outstanding service, it made for the perfect date night. We started with the clam chowder and crab cakes, which were both fantastic. For our entrées, we had the Linguini Del Mar and the Petite Filet (added a side of peppercorn sauce), and every single bite was delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. The highlight of the evening, though, was our server, Greg. He made us feel completely at home from the moment we sat down. His recommendations were spot on, he was attentive without ever being intrusive, and when my girlfriend got a little chilly on the patio, he even brought her a blanket without us having to ask. It's those thoughtful little touches that truly elevate an experience. As the sun began setting over the marina, Alison Brecht performed live acoustic music that created the most romantic atmosphere. She even took a couple requests, including mine and my girlfriend's favorite songs. Sitting outside by the fire table, enjoying an incredible meal while listening to live music and watching the boats in the harbor, felt like something out of a movie. It was the perfect backdrop for celebrating our anniversary. Sea Level exceeded every expectation we had. Between the outstanding food, exceptional service from Greg, beautiful waterfront views, and Alison Brecht's wonderful performance, this was one of the most memorable date nights we've had. We can't wait to celebrate here again. We will most definitely be back soon and could not recommend this lovely restaurant more if you're in the area !

They have seating on the patio and inside with both tables and booths or at the bar. The decor is fun with bright vibrant colors and picturesque walls. Food was decent, though basic and (see picture of Truffle Fries, they should have spent a few more seconds in the fryer to get at least a little golden and have some crispiness rather than blanched and lackluster). The Machaca Scramble was the most flavorful and best tasting dish we had at our table as the corned beef hash and eggs were standard (not bad but nothing to Yelp rave about). By far the best part was the Bottomless Mimosas which are offered everyday, not just on the weekends! Big bonus! Our server was attentive and had a happy disposition. I felt Serendipity has so much great potential, between the decor, service and bottomless mimosas I'd imagine they would have more birthdays or group celebrations going on, especially for such a large space. But the vibe was a bit off with the low playing Spanish music, I would imagine if they had more pop music or upbeat music to fit the vibe of the place they'd have more of a fun vibe. Not that there is anything wrong with Spanish music, it just wasn't jiving with the vibe of the place and was so low and not so up beat (romantic Spanish ballads were playing). The laminated menus also gave an old diner vibe instead of trendy "serendipity" vibe. I'll still come back to see if they can match the vibe to the decor and try a few other menu items, but I do hope they up the ambiance. And get that extra star status!
