Been by a few times as it's close to my work. Prices are very reasonable and they have lunch specials as well. I've tried both the Caesar and Abby salad, which were alright. I preferred the corn chowder over the French Onion soup, which I found too salty. I've also tried their English Breakfast-- eggs were sadly overcooked (ordered mine over medium and they were def very, very hard). Sausage was good and I liked the buttered sourdough bread it came with. Tomato was good as well, liked the garlic seasoning. Beans were pretty standard; found the mushrooms meh (bit dry). Service is a bit slow (the English Breakfast took around 25 min to come out) but not outrageously so.

Came here in the afternoon on a weekday and it was quite empty (which I liked lol). Nice lil American / brunch spot located in the outskirts of the lower east side. I had their breakfast platter & chicken bites (dark meat). The breakfast platter was actually really good and the pancakes were dam near perfect. The chicken bites were alright, I liked the hot honey dip it came with though. Overall a pretty good breakfast / lunch spot!

I landed on this gem when a neighborhood over. They have 2 floors and host a variety of cooking classes so my friend and I sat at the bar. I ordered one of the blue plate specials which came with a glass of wine and 1 of 4 dishes, I ordered steak frites, mashed potatoes & arugula salad. My friend ordered coco southern fried chicken sandwich with fries. Everything came out hot and Tasty. I liked the atmosphere, the bartender Chloe was great and knowledgeable about the menu since she has worked there 2.5 years and lives in the neighborhood. Looked like the classes were pretty popular, I did not make it downstairs. I thought the prices were reasonable and would go back for taster bar food. I took a bite of my friend's chicken sandwich and it's one of the best I've ever tried! They also have happy hour with drink specials 5-7

The food wasn't what I expected. The fries were a tad bit overcooked, the hot honey chicken sandwich tasted like frank hot sauce was one of the ingredients, no hot honey. The chicken didn't taste fully done so I turned my camera glash on to see better. It looked cooked so I ate it.I enjoyed the side salad best. The service was fine. The ambiance was cool, not allowed and simple decor. I would go back to tastes the Mac, the Betty ceaser salad, the Mac, ans maybe something else. So for my experience of the food to day is a 3.

Brunch! The Bloody Mary was a solid 8. Cld have used more than one olive and teeny lemon garnish. I got the English Breakfast, which is why I chose to try this restaurant, for my weekly Brunch. It was perfectly plated, but not hot at all. It wasnt even lukewarm. Had it been remotely warm, this would be four star rating. I had a generous side of grits, also not hot/warm, but enough for another meal. As others have said, the service is slow, so be prepared. The staff was gracious and I do like that music is not blasting so loudly you have to shout.

Grits--GET THEM. Full English--get this too.

Betty is a gem in the neighborhood. I came for brunch around 11ish. There were plenty of tables and it's a chill, low key atmosphere. I got the full English, which brought me back to London immediately. Even with empty tables, the food does take awhile to come out. Definitely worth the wait but don't have time sensitive plans afterwards.

Visiting family in the Lower East Side, we were looking for a new place for breakfast. The reviews of Betty sounded good and we checked it out. Betty is located in a non descript location on Henry St, across for Gouveneur Hospital. Our server, Tulane, was wonderful. She from Ohio and loves living here. She suggested the buttermilk pancakes, they were definitely delicious. I was given real maple syrup which you didn't often get. I chose the cauliflower side on a beef is hummus. Also really tasty. My wife enjoyed the avocado toast with 2 eggs over easy. It was also delicious. The coffee was fresh and smooth, strong enough and not sour or bitter. The ambience is very comfortable, clean looking, looks sorta life a coffee shop. It's nice and quiet, you feel like you need to talk in a soft voice. Also a little dark but not too much. The only problem is that the layout is a bit long and narrow and on a cold day, the cold windy air blows in. This is a really nice place for breakfast and I highly recommend it!

We had a change in plans and found Betty in the Lower East Side for our early lunch. I had a burger that came with a light green salad. Fries would have been an alternate accompaniment, but I was very happy to get this salad. I wished afterwards that I had opted for a double patty, as the burger was good. Service was good and prompt, as the place filled when it got closer to noon on a Friday. This was a neighborhood place that was surprisingly low in noise level, as my wife suggested I lower my voice. No tourists in sight. My wife was already looking ahead towards our return.

Betty was a great find. It is a neighborhood gem with tasty dishes and cocktails. It was opened late which was great for us as we just flew in from the west coast and wanted a nice meal after a long day of travel. We had the fish green curry, henry street soft pretzel, sauteed shrimp and cauliflower. We paired our dishes with the William Seward's Basil Gimlet, Hot Toddy and Manhattan. Service was great, ambiance was definitely NYC chic and would definitely return to Betty's.

Very interesting experience here. Popped in randomly for dinner. No reservation. No recommendation. Just Me, Jesus, and a Google Maps search. It's out of the way, one of the places I pass by all the time while on the way to The Dancer. The space is big. Very prison chic with grey walls and concrete floors. We were greeted after a few minutes with a passive wave and, "Sit anywhere you like." The space is a good size, so you can kind of choose the vibe you want. The day we came the front house was led by two young women. The menu is new American and in my opinion, reasonably priced. We got a spattering of small bites and three cocktails. The service was medium speed and they were very attentive. My only slight qualm was the waitress/bartender was serving sleeves that keep brushing over our food and table which was kind of off putting. She eventually took it off! The vibe is like very much Youth Club. Not entirely professional but not entirely a mess either. More like a lax kind of place with really good food. The food is phenomenal. I was really impressed. I definitely will be coming back. The drinks are kind of shit but she did make a really good tequila espresso. This is the kind of place you come for dinner. Forget the cocktails! I definitely look forward to coming back again. It was a funny experience and the food is slamming.

Here's the rundown: - naan: recommend this, though maybe overhyped myself based on previous reviews. The yogurt sauce was delish, but the bread itself was very good but not mind blowing. - BLT salad: dark horse fav! Tons of flavor and I kept going back for more. Recommend as an app - Union Square bento: honestly, wish this came in a real bento box. Seems like a miss, but I suppose separate plates give you more volume. Good to add as a side to whatever else you get. Cabbage was the best of the trio. - rice bowl: squash and rice were solid, but the shrimp was the standout here! Very flavorful shrimp. Not sure how they packed so much flavor into the little bites of them - fried chicken thighs: I mean, yes. They're juicy. They're fried excellently. The side sauces are creative and great for vinegar-lovers like me I also got the carrot cocktail which was ultra smooth and had the right amount of dill flavor. We got two cookies to go which were divine. I'd get them to stay to try it with the oolong milk next time, but we had to run. The service was friendly, courteous. Ambiance was trendy but not uptight. Would recommend for a nicer night out

The dining room always felt buzzy and fashionable, but the food, service, and overall execution kept the place grounded in something more durable than hype. Its pinwheel lasagna is outrageously good and easily one of the signature dishes I associate with modern New York dining. I also distinctly remember the Chrysanthemum Salad, buried under what feels like an unreasonable and therefore perfect amount of shaved Parmesan. Both dishes capture what Don Angie does so well: familiar Italian American food made inventive without losing the basic pleasure that made people love it in the first place. Combined with excellent service and a prime West Village location, Don Angie has always struck me as a restaurant that became a phenomenon without letting the quality benchmark slip.
