I have been a subscriber with the company for some time, and a few years ago they had a problem with the bikes losing contact with the server and were rendered useless. Granted, this occurred a few times a year, but is quite inconveniencing as the user must now walk the mile. Breeze came to Santa Monica with the train, slightly before Bird and Lime. I believe these two companies have taken quite a bit of market share. Additionally, Bird and Lime have marketed themselves as 'cool' and 'hip.' Breeze has sorrily lacked in this area. These bikes aren't the most cosmetically pleasing item on the street, being covered in lime green paint and foolish design. These bikes are not 'hip' or 'cool' by any means and being seen on them is not an asset of influence. The keypads are a pain in the morning, and the seats of the newer bikes are as comfortable as a broken cinder block. Nonetheless they usually work, are reasonably priced, and if the user has a negotiable reputation, are quite handy.

Overall the work was good but it pains me to see staff treated so poorly. The other thing that was a disappointment was I was told my bike would be ready on a specific day. When I arrived one day later to get it the owner had zero memory of me and, of course, had not even touched the bike. I got the sense that this is incredibly common at this shop as the staff privately asked me who told me it would be ready and then rolled their eyes when I said who as if this is so common. My experience mirrors many of the other one-star reviews, particularly regarding their outrageous "no refunds" policy. The key difference in my case is that they sold me a bike they didn't even have. I was told it would arrive "sometime in the next month or so," with no firm delivery date or timeline. Rather than taking a deposit, they insisted I pay the full purchase price upfront for a bike that wasn't in stock and wasn't even in their possession. Given that I'm 6'6", I specifically asked whether I could try the bike once it arrived before making a final decision. They assured me that would be "no problem," which gave me confidence that I wasn't taking on unnecessary risk. A few days later, I realized how unreasonable the arrangement was. I had paid thousands of dollars in full for a product they didn't have and couldn't tell me when they would receive. I called and requested a refund. They flatly refused at first. What followed was an exhausting exchange of roughly 15 to 20 emails that started out cordial but eventually became increasingly hostile. After significant back-and-forth, the employee handling the matter, Kit, finally agreed to issue a refund--but withheld more than 7% of the purchase price, claiming it was for "merchant fees." I've never encountered credit card processing fees anywhere near that amount, and charging a customer thousands of dollars upfront for an unavailable product only to keep a substantial portion when they request a refund strikes me as completely unacceptable. Between the bait-and-switch style sales tactics, the refusal to refund a bike they didn't even have, and the generally unhelpful in-store staff, I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. The staff confirmed they had the part, so I walked my heavy, disabled e-bike a mile to the shop in 98-degree heat, arriving on the verge of heat exhaustion. Upon arrival, the technician barely looked at me or the bike. He nonchalantly stated he had other customers and asked me to leave the bike overnight, which I agreed to do. Three hours later, I received a phone call from the technician stating he had "bad news." He claimed that due to my bike's suspension setup, he lacked the "specialized tools" required to remove the rear wheel without damaging it. As an experienced rider, I knew this was completely false. The rear wheel drops off cleanly using standard hand tools without ever touching the suspension. When I returned to the shop to retrieve my bike, my suspicions were confirmed by the unprofessional attitude of the staff: * The employee at the door mocked my situation, condescendingly telling me, "Well, have fun with that," when I pointed out the fix was simple. * The cashier completely shrugged me off, stating he "didn't know" why the tech refused the work, showing absolute indifference to the fact that they were turning away business. Because of their refusal to perform a basic tire change, I was forced to drag my heavy e-bike another 2 miles to the train station in 90-degree weather. When I finally got the bike home, I successfully removed the rear wheel and replaced the tube myself in less than 30 minutes using a standard wrench and an Allen key. The technician lied about needing specialized equipment. The staff's dismissive, mocking, and unhelpful behavior leaves me to believe that I was either turned away out of sheer laziness or straight-up discrimination. No customer should be humiliated, lied to, and left stranded in a dangerous heatwave by representatives of the Trek brand.
