I don't drink. So this review is for all the regular and eclectic soda that they carry on a 10 x 6 ft shelf in the back left of the store. I am a fan of ginger beer and they carry many different varieties. My favorite has to be Cock -N - Bull. The originators of the Moscow Mule. Normally this is only available in glass, however this store carries this product in 20 oz aluminum cans. Nice! I am also a fan of Dry Soda and there are several options to choose from there. Is it less expense here than at other stores? No. Is there more options? Generally, yes. What did I learn today? I got carded buying soda. I have a BevMo savings card. Make of that what you will. I'm a huge fan of BevMo. I have been to some good one's and some bad one's. This a good one. The location is very large and we were welcomed with a hello upon first entering the store. The fellow was very nice and I explained I was looking for the cocktail black book (I had left mine at home). We were preparing to have a dinner party and I wanted some fresh ideas. My BevMo fellow walked me to the black book and then gave me some suggestions and introduced me to a new vodka, its Absolut Los Angeles. Its a mixture of Blueberry and Pomegrante. We also decided to get some cheese dishes and crackers as well. The cashier was very friendly and even asked for my savings card. I would highly recommend this location. It's a BevMo. They offer low prices on a wide variety of alcohol and related paraphernalia, including glasses, napkins, ice and food. Lots and lots of obscure snack food. However, it's a chain, so you can't expect more than that. Like the reviewers who are shocked that they have a policy about swiping your ID or surprised that they screw up a delivery (really, you really counted on BevMo to deliver your wedding alcohol 1 HOUR before the ceremony. Do you know how much they make an hour? That review almost qualifies for Funniest of Yelp.) Anyway, good prices, great selection, 5 cent wine sale, nuff said. read more

Today found out I was charged 2 different amounts for a purchase on 5/23. The clerk was elderly so I forgave a lot since she clearly needed the job. When my purchase was in process, the card reader became stuck in "processing " mode .. The Clerk asked me to "run the card again". The reader stayed in "processing" mode and she looked frustrated as people were behind me. She bagged the beers and dropped the first one. I refused it and she replied "you can get another one if you want". I brought back a new one and waited. The Clerk said its done (the transaction) but she couldn't give a receipt . The cash register would not print one due to the error. I indicated my displeasure with the response. The manager came up and gruffly said "You're clear , its not going to charge you again." I stated politely, "I do not want to get charged for that guy behind me". The manager said "its not going to charge you, you're clear" and made no apology for the lack of receipt or the issues with the cash register. I'm awaiting a response from their customer service before I update this review since the store rep brian refused to assist in finding out what happened, and made no extra effort to connect me with the right department (I would assume they would since people did that to me when I worked retail) to resolve the double charging errors. They said "we can't do anything at the store"..not exactly true.. I worked retail , you have a direct line to corporate . Without it your store would be lost. And apparently it is .. Jon was EXTREMELY put out that I preferred not to hand him my phone so he could scan my discount code. I asked if I could just hold it up to the scanner but he would not let it go. Kept talking under his breath about it that nobody ever said that before. I offered to cancel the transaction if this was a problem but he said no problem, but did not apologize. We just ran in to get a bottle of wine or two for a friend's party, which we were late to. I didn't know we were going to get convinced to join the other 12 - 50 year olds in wine tasting for 30 minutes! Stuck in a 10x10 square foot area, we were partying like it was 1999. Once upon a time, this here charming building in this soulless strip mall housed a Long's Drugstore. Alas, those fine purveyors of medicinal potions have gone away ne'er to return to this here side of the Creek... O the humanity! But really, who are we kidding, whether you take your medicine in pill form or liquid form, it's the same thing, isn't it? Long's was merely replaced by a fine purveyor in wines and spirits, also known as liquid medicine. Like all the other BevMo locations, they've got cheese, chips, and all the goodies... This BevMo location is awesome... As someone who moved to the Bay from Texas, I can attest that there are few, if any, liquor stores quite like BevMo there, or in the South, for that matter. With a great selection of wine, beer, and liquors, as well as a deli and snack food area, it's a great retail concept. Management is always willing to order me anything they don't have in stock, and prices are fair, if not quite as low as my favorite liquor store in Texas. You cannot go wrong with the 5-cent wine event, and they usually have good Club-Bev specials on various items. The extra 5% discount for Club members is a nice touch as well. The new high-end liquor cabinets really "pop" now, with their new LED lights, it's always neat and clean, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. It's a consistently good shopping experience at BevMo. If they lowered their prices on liquor a few bucks more, they would be unstoppable! read more

I don't really drink alcohol that much, so this place has always seemed worthless to me and I never ventured in. However, during a recent trip to Scotland I discovered the new love of my drinking life... Ginger Beer. For those who have not experienced this drinkable delight, ginger beer is basically ginger ale, but with more ginger in it. It usually has a somewhat stinging bite to it that I found just awesome. The problem is, in America we have ginger ale and it sucks. So, my brother says to me, "Try BevMo, they have everything." So, I did and while they don't have the particular brand I was after, they had quite a selection to choose from. I found myself wandering around the store and thinking that this place is truly a mecca for alcohol. The prices are average to reasonable depending on what you want and the employees I dealt with were very helpful. read more

Yay for BevMo! Ricky who works here always helps me out when it's their "Buy one get one 5C" sale. My only complaint is that my FAVOURITE Rioja/Tempranillo came out pretty bad last time. I picked up about 24 bottles in the buy one/get one sale and over half of them were undrinkable. I guess I just haven't realized before that they must be putting out old stock for the buy one get one, but man oh man was i pissed. Especially because I dropped a lot of money on these when they were full priced. My cousin (Bar tender and wine connisseour) had warned me that from every case of the gran reserve of this wine to expect at least one bottle to be bad. Oh well. Crap happens. I'll still be back - I'll probably just pay closer attention to Ricky now than I normally do. read more

This place is a great source for cheeses. I am surprised by the selection. As for the cheese eating tools it is very limited like the rest of pleasant hill, walnut creek area. I had to go to Berkeley to pick up a cheese plane. I recommend to all that live in the area. read more

Kinda shocked at how rude the employees are at this location. I walked in (on crutches) and said "I have a question" to the woman at the register. Two male employees interrupted me and handed her a bottle to ring up for another customer. The woman told me to ask the men, because she didn't know anything... her words, not mine. For the last couple of weeks, I've been having major insomnia. A few days ago, I finally found the cure. ALCOHOL. Now why didn't I think of that before? So I've been taking a few shots every night around bedtime, and I wake up in the morning (late for work) having slept like a baby. Sadly, I've drank all the alcohol I had in my apartment, so I figured it was time to make a visit to the neighborhood BevMo. When I walked into the store, I was greeted by the jolly cashier at the register, who called out, "Good afternoon little girl"! The elderly couple in line glanced at me as their disapproving eyes questioned my age, since sadly, I've been told that I do indeed look like I'm 12 years old. I strolled up and down the aisles (full stocked, I might add, even though they're having their 5 cent wine sale and I figured the shelves would be half empty in the afternoon), picking up random bottles and searching for nothing in particular. A friendly employee called out to me, and asked if I needed any help. "Yes", I said, "I hate the taste of alcohol, so I would like to get drunk as fast as possible. Do you have any suggestions?" Without hesitance, she rattled off some of her favorite drinks, and I eagerly trailed behind her as she pointed out each bottle on the shelf. Superb customer service! Half an hour later, I brought my three bottles of alcohol up the register. The same guy who greeted me when I came in was humming happily to himself. Not wanting to interrupt his tune, I patiently stood by as he finished his song. He looked up with a great big smile as I placed my items on the conveyer. Without even asking, I handed him my I.D. He laughed. "Wow! You're the first person who has given me their ID without me asking. And you're probably the only person that looks like they need carding!" He continued laughing as he perused my ID. "Wow! You really ARE of age!" Yeah, yeah...super. Now give me my alcohol so I can go home and drink myself to sleep. He individually wrapped my bottles in paper, and double bagged my purchase, all with that great big smile. I began to wonder if the employees here are allowed samples of their products, because I sure as hell have never been that damn happy at work. When he was done, I wished him a good day as I skipped happily out the door, daydreaming of the amazing night of sleep I would be getting tonight. read more

Sunday, I had the pleasure of receiving the best customer service from Paul D. a really knowledgeable guy. I needed wine, beer and spirits for a party that day and Paul really came through. Paul asked about the food we were serving and he guided me through the perfect wine and beer pairings. All our guest were really happy with his picks. He also introduced me to a new Vodka that lived up to everything Paul said. Paul D. was great, I never felt rushed and I felt that he really cared that I would be happy with my purchases that day. I was kicked out of the store in front of about 20 customers yesterday at 530pm because I refused to let the cashier swipe my drivers license. I presented my ID (Valid CA Drivers License) to both the cashier and manager but they insisted that they must swipe the card to get my personal information. I was asked to leave and as I walked away the manager berated me and insinuated that I had a very low level of education. Absolutely appalling. Needles to say I will never shop at BevMo again. This was the worst shopping experience of my life. My son got married on June 25, and one of the people who was staffing the wedding told me I should get all the liquor at BevMo because they deliver for free (and cold). I knew I could have gotten the liquor for a lot less between Costco and Trader Joe's, but it seemed like it was worth paying a little more to have it all delivered. So what happened? Well, the delivery was set for 4:00 pm. The ceremony started at 5:00, and at 5:30, people were supposed to walk thru the receiving line and end up at the bar, where they were supposed to find beer, wine, and margaritas (we rented a double machine). Five minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start, the bartender came to me and said "BevMo hasn't shown up, we've got nothing to serve." So the ceremony was delayed while I got on the phone to call them. Their response? "Oh, it's being delivered on a window of 3:30-5:30." I screamed a little bit, and they said they'd try to get it over as soon as possible. So after 10s of thousands of dollars going into this wedding (almost $2k of it spent at BevMo) and a year's worth of planning, the ceremony was delayed, the guests came through the receiving line, and they arrived at a bar serving fruit juice with a couple of BevMo people unloading a Suburban. The first batch of margaritas weren't even ready until the cocktail hour was over and dinner was being served. But BevMo wasn't finished screwing things up. At 6:30 the bartender came to me and said "We're out of ice. Why did you only order 6 bags?" The answer, of course, was that I had ordered 20 bags of ice, but the half-assed late delivery team only brought 6. So while my son and his bride were dancing their first dance, I was on the phone again with BevMo trying to get the full order of ice delivered. Finally, came the champagne debacle. Using the chart provided by BevMo, I had initially attempted to order 26 bottles of champagne. The staff at this location insisted that was too much, that people hardly even drink champagne at weddings these days, that I should only get 3 or 4 bottles. That sounded wrong to me, but I did listen to them and ordered a case, as a middle ground. Of course, we immediately ran out, and people all throughout the reception were asking for champagne, only to be told that there wasn't any. If you want to buy a bottle of nickel wine, maybe this store is okay. But if you have any sort of event of any importance, avoid BevMo. read more

Manager Alex, is real friendly, cashier Kevin always seems to be there when I make purchases. After finding the bomb Merlot at another Bevmo, this was the only store that still had that vintage. They have a good selection of local wines from Livermore and Napa, but not a big wine vault. Lots of parking at this location so no worries on convenience. Not a huge store, but stocked with all the right stuff. This place seems to get you in and out quicker than other Bevmos. read more

One of the other reviewers already mentioned this. If you are craft beer fan, especially IPAs, avoid this store. Single IPAs have a shelf life of about 2-3 months and double IPAs about 4-8 weeks max. If you drink them past those dates, you will notice a steep decline in freshness and hop flavors. It's even worse with Triple and Quadruple IPAs. I spot checked several bottles in the store and many were 3, 4, 5 and even more than 6 months old. I even asked the clerk if they carried the very popular Unfiltered Sculpin and when I located the six-pack, I noticed the date on the bottle was from February 2018, making it 6 months old. I really wish they wouldn't try to get rid of their old stock on unsuspecting customers. If you purchase IPAs at this location, be aware! read more

As a store, I love Bevmo. My folks and I call it Toy-R-Us for grown ups. They have at most Bevmos one of my favorite beers, Delirium tremens ( a delicious blond Belgian ale. This Bevmo stands up to the rest, including a better rum selection than I have seen elsewhere. I give it three stars because I've noticed the same manager give his employees hell on a couple of occasions. With another Bevmo in Walnut Creek, I'm really considering giving them my business instead. read more

What I love about alcoholic drinks is the vast variety. I love tasting a bunch of different wines or beers and finding the drinks that are perfect for me. For this reason, I really like BevMo. Before I turned 21 I hated it because I wasn't allowed in, but now I really love that it is exclusively 21 and up. All the people that work here and everyone who shops here is very enthusiastic about alcoholic beverages, and when I go in I feel like I'm entering an exclusive club for people who share a passion for alcohol. The staff is all very helpful, and the selection is obviously great. I feel like the BevMo on North main has a better selection than this one, but I certainly have no problem finding what I need here. read more

I never consume alcohol due to it being the Devils Water. I do however enjoy gourmet Root Beer. Took my 13 y/o daughter in there to look and she went wild at all the gourmet brands available. The guy who helped us was very informative and there was ample parking. Lots of cool types of Root Beer. We bought a six pack and went home. If I could give no stars that would be better, the cashier Ryan on 6/28/2014 is horrible after we spent twenty minutes looking for great beers which I know bev mo to have we went to check out now there was 4 people with us in 30years old and everyone else was in there mid twenties to 30 years of age he refused to let us take alcohol after he checked everyone's identification I left my wallet at home and he made a huge deal about now there closed and my Saturday night is ruined we left with nothing but a cigar I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!!!! read more

The wine selection and booze selection is great here. If I could them 2 and a half stars I would. Bevmo has no compeition in regards to large booze stores. It is like the liqour Barn of old days. My complaint is that I have been burned no less than 4 times when I buy beer that originated in Germany or England. Every single time, the beer had exceeded the expiration date, and stupidly I did not check this until I got home already. Shame on me for not checking. I went to get some much needed refills and Mint Julep mix for the derby yesterday, great greetings and superb service, I asked for direction of Early Time Mint Julep, was directed to front of register, so I grabbed a few bottles and went to look at the glassware, but was stopped on my way by the nice, friendly greeter asking me if i was "heading to the register", now, i'm walking away from register area towards glassware, now normally I don't say anything, but that really bothered me, so i responded " aren't the registers that way" he said " yeah, then chuckled" my response "does it look like i'm heading to the register, i'm going to look at glassware" I kept walking, but that turned my well planned restocking my bar day and adding extras completely off and dampered any further shopping. I was prepared to spend some money but made to feel as if I was being watched like a thief. So kept it to the Julep mix. I loved shopping here because of the great service and supply on demand. Will move my purchases to other BevMo!! I say all this because I really hope someone who deals with this store mentions this, as I know that greeter guy wearing sombrero will never forget that moment and neither will the gentleman worker who I spoke with about who's gonna win the derby. Maybe next time he will think before he speaks and judge as it was very awkward and I think he realized it after I responded. Still luv BevMo, just not this store anymore! read more
