Moo ping takeout. They give you 4 skewers per order but I got hungry so you only see three. They were yummy.

Multiple visits which include both dine-in and takeout warrant a review. I'm pleased there is a solid Thai joint that checks off all my boxes. They are close by, delicious and affordable. My recent visit was this weekend where I treated my parents out to lunch because I want them to try things out of their norm. They loved the food especially the Basil eggplant and the Tofu and Chicken Pad-See-Ew. The Tom Kha soup was new for all of us and had interesting flavor. I like that this location unlike other Thai places offers Moo Ping too which I love. The service was courteous and swift and if you can time it right, parking is available in their lot. Otherwise you'll have to resort to the streets for carryout and dine in.

Mixed Vegetables Entree with beef and fried Tofu appetizer lunch special
    Sonam P.

Came for lunch on NYE with friends around 12:30pm. It was easy to get elated right away and the older lady is super sweet and accommodating. We saw many do take out orders here so they were not that busy inside. The atmosphere is quiet and chill. I believe she is the owner or part of the family and was so kind and attentive. We decided to all order the Lunch Special and she helped give recos like the vegetable spring rolls being more crispy and the different choice of meats that go best with each dish, etc... I got the mixed vegetable entree as I wanted to have all the veggies and decided to get beef as I also got the fried tofu as my appetizer and the Tom Yum Chicken soup. I really enjoyed the stir fried vegetables. The beef was good as it was not that fatty as I don't like the fatty pieces of beef. I could have used a bit more of the gravy/sauce for my rice but the hot sauce helped with that :) I enjoyed the fried tofu with the sweet and sour sauce and the Tom yum soup was very flavorful and perfect to start the meal. It was just the right amount of food for lunch. I'm glad they have the lunch specials so you can try a lot of different things and also don't feel super stuffed after. I didn't have any leftovers. Overall, everyone at our table was satisfied with the food and I would definitely recommend this small Thai restaurant to others.

    Pad see ew lunch special

Did a delivery order here for lunch. The food was delivered in a timely manner. The portions was good, as well as the variety in the lunch special, for $9.50, its a decent price nowadays for what you get. We ordered 2 each of the pad see ew and the pad thai. I ate the pad see ew and it was good. A decent amount of chicken and broccoli for the amount of noodles. The egg roll with the dipping sauce was good too. The salad had a light dressing on it as well. Overall a decent meal for lunch.

    Pad see ewe

My friend and I ordered the pad see ewe with chicken and we both thought it was really good! For $10, the portion size is good and the flavor was good too! The pad see ew was just sweet enough and salty enough for me. The chicken was juicy and the broccoli added a good crunch and texture to the dish. I do wish there was more broccoli though. Overall, the service was good! We called to order and they were quick and polite. And during pickup, it was the same :) Although the strip mall looks a little eh....from the outside, I think the restaurant and the food is definitely worth it to go here!

Tom yum noodle soup April 2018

I went here years ago because my friend looked up lunch special and they had a good deal. I was in the area one day when I was craving for "Tom Yum Noodle Soup". I called the restaurant to see if they can make tom yum noodle soup because it's a pretty popular street food in Thailand, that happens to be one of my favorite noodle soup dish (other than ramen and pho). I was so excited when the lady said they can make tom yum noodle soup so I was there so quick! I ordered the dish, along with vegetable pineapple fried ice. Out came my dish *tears* Tom yum soup with rice noodles inside. I told the lady that this isn't a tom yum noodle soup. It's supposed to be clear broth. She told me that they didn't have it on the menu, and I said that's why I called to see if you had it. There's a difference between tom yum noodle soup (clear broth) and tom yum soup (red broth typically with shrimp). The taste of the food is ok, but the restaurant is very 90s environment. When I've got, it was super empty, making me wonnder how they survive with business, but I've noticed there were a lot of pick up orders.

I ordered on Uber and the order was unfulfilled. Disappointing. If they can't fulfill an order they should indicate that in the site.

Great shrimp appetizer and fried rice. Not crazy about the egg rolls. Will be back to try other dishes.

Very good flavor. The fried rice had tomatoes and mushrooms which was weird to me but the tofu tower was awesome.

We found this restaurant through the yelp reviews, and, as usual, the yelp wisdom of crowds was correct. The meal was absolutely delicious. Sorry, I can't remember the Georgian names of the dishes but the eggplant rolls filled with walnut paste, the bread with melted cheese and egg yolk and the lamb and potato stew were all great choices. The food tasted home-made, as if a grandmother had cooked for us with love in every bite. Lots of garlic - we love that. Washed down with a glass or dry red Georgian wine, a perfect pairing. We were fully satisfied with our main dishes so were not able to try dessert. Next time. The atmosphere was nice - tablecloths on the table, friendly service, not noisy. We will definitely come back next time we are in the Evanston area.

Large $16 or Small $9 Nigvziani Badrijani (Stuffed eggplant with walnut garlic paste) - liked this a lot! $24 Chkmeruli (Traditional Georgian - style oven backed chicken soaked in garlic creamy sauce served in a clay pan) - sauce was thinner than expected. Tasted really yummy! Yes garlicky but not overpowering. I love garlic so I wouldn't have been unhappy if it was more garlic forward. Chicken didn't soak the flavor as much as I expected so it needed sauce to get the flavor. Chicken a little dry. $25 Khinkali (Traditional Georgian dumplings with a twisted top, generously filled with your choice of spiced meat, cheese, or mushrooms, 5 Pieces) - loved these! My favorite dish. Expensive for 5 though, even though they are big. Meat was tender and flavorful. $25 Chakhokhbili (Traditional Georgian family style chicken dish with red peppers onions & herbs) - chicken was a little dry again. Flavors were mild, I was hoping for bold flavors. It was good just not what I expected. Perfect if you're looking for something more mild in flavor without any spice. $25 chicken Ojakhuri (Juicy marinated kabob pieces baked with potatoes and onions, seasoned with traditional Georgian spices and served sizzling in a rustic clay pan) - chicken a little dry again. Potato's were the winner here, garlicky and flavorful! Barely any onions. Price - expensive Portion - good portion, also keeping in mind price is high so it's good the portion is reasonable Service - great! Didn't check on us much though

I need to have that thing shipped to me. Then she suggested some kind of roux or sauce for the catfish. Oh. My. God. The buss-down was crazy! The vibe? The ambiance? Chef's kiss. The people? Listen, that's home. Chi-Town is my home... born and raised. Even though I'm from there, this time I wanted to experience Chicago as a tourist, without our kids, who are now young adults. The decor was totally vibey, divey, and all the things. They had real plants, and since I'm a new plant mom, of course I was loving every bit of that. I'm like, okay! Monsteras up in that joker piece! They also had fresh flowers on the tables, which was such a nice touch. Our waitress was phenomenal! Because I waited so long to write this review, I don't remember her name, but I'm telling you, she was amazing. She treated us like tourists, okay? She listened when we explained that we were doing the Chicago tourist thing and gave us the full experience. I loved that she took that into consideration, so kudos to her! There was also a young girl celebrating her birthday with her family, and it was so adorable watching her little sister run over to their family members. The whole place just had such a warm, welcoming, at-home feeling. We truly enjoyed ourselves, and I even walked away with a shirt because I loved the ones the staff was wearing. It was the perfect little homage to my hometown. Honeybear Cafe, we will definitely be back!
