Awesome down to earth clean sports bar. My boyfriend and I wanted steak. But the menu said it would be available after 5PM. So we were gonna have some wings to wait until that time came. The server was like "You know what let me take care of you", "I just checked they made the mashed potatoes". So instead of ordering wings we ordered our steaks. It came with some veggies. The whole meal was so good. The steak was seasoned to perfection. The mashed potatoes were so good. Yes the mashed potatoes were made from real potatoes not from a kit like other places use. You can taste the butter and the cream in it. We also ordered a brownie sundae OMG the chocolate sauce on that sucker so MMMMMMM DELISH. The service I got here was on point. I had not been here in several years, used to be a favorite spot especially on football Sunday's. When we walked in we waited for a good 3-5 minutes. It became obvious very quickly there was only 1 server and he was doing everything. He cleaned off a table for us outside. I asked Russell if he was the only server to which he replied yes and that the busser had called in sick. I want to commend him as he worked the entire bar room and the outside patio. He was working hard and running around yet still very polite and smiling. The food was good as I remembered. These days it's hard to find good help and I hope the owners see that in Russell. More like a nice, casual restaurant than a sports bar. It is clean and well light -- a lot of natural light. They have a great full bar, some cool beers on tap and a really long bottle list. They have the usual suspects -- burgers, wings, etc. I got a salad (trying to watch what I eat) and I was pleasantly surprised. I have been to more than my share of bars and I do not expect much from a salad. The ingredients were fresh and it was well assorted (it was one of those foo foo salads, with nuts, goat cheese and fruit). They have a lot of televisions that were on a number of different channels. When I was there, they had baseball on one tube and rugby on the one right next to it. The service was polite, if not super prompt. The appetizer we got was the Blue Chips. So yummy! Bunch of chips covered in a warm blue cheese spread, sprinkled with tomatoes, bacon and Parmesan cheese. Def would get again! Went there for lunch with the family. Kids lemonade tasted just weird, sent back. Wife had a 805, totally flat, sent back. Wife ordered a BLT, she said the sandwich was good but the side salad was really soggy. The gentleman helping us comp us a drink which was nice of him. Service: hostess was a typical teenager.: can't say hello or smile, but waitress was good, super friendly, attentive but kitchen too slow!!!! Great place, really comfortable and spaced outside seating in parking lot. It's kinda tucked away though and doesn't feel like a parking lot, more just like a patio. Server was really nice and fast. I ordered the "Black and Blue" burger, DELICIOUS, will definitely be going back and ordering this same burger again. The caramelized onions were perfect. The medium rare was on-point. I was excited to hear that BTG was re-opening, unfortunately expectations fell far short. The restaurant was severely understaffed, service was beyond slow, and dirty tables were left for an extended period of time. Here are a few highlights, or I should saw low-lights: 1. Twenty minutes for a drink. Requested a refill twice, the server only remembered when the check was requested, "no thanks, I'm good now." 2. Had to ask what kind of soup they had twice. 3. Ordered a cobb salad with no no tomatoes, server came back a few minutes later with "that was a club sandwich with no tomatoes, right?" Salad was later brought without dressing, "oh yea, what kind of dressing did you want?" The staff seemed frantic, and what I assume were managers were attempting to buss tables, bar back, etc. Disappointing to say the least. read more

So I informed a lady that so happens to be the new owner. She immediately gave me attitude and kept telling me they were made fresh and not frozen, which wasn't the issue. I didn't realize they did breakfast here! I have been here many times for lunch but never for breakfast. It wasn't busy when we arrived however, the place began to fill up quickly around 11:30. We ordered the French toast with berry compote and a side of bacon. Three slices of French toast and the berry compote on the side...very tasty. The bacon was perfectly cooked, not to crispy and just the right kind of salty to compliment the sweetness. Would like to go back and try the breakfast burrito. read more

I tend to be pretty forgiving about bad service since I've worked in many a bar/restaurant in my life. But...this place blows. I was really shocked by the behavior of their management staff today. I will never go back there. Here's what happened... Went in to watch a particular football game. It wasn't on any of the TVs in the bar area so they suggested we sit in the restaurant area & they'd switch the game on in there. There was another group of people also there for the same game & they went in to the restaurant area, too. They put it on 2 of the TVs for us & the other group. Service was OK up to this point. But then we asked our waitress if they could turn the sound on on the TV with the game we were watching. This seemed like a reasonable request since my table (& the other table) were the only ones in the restaurant area & we were both watching the same game. The sound was up high on a TV with a game no one was watching. The waitress huffed, rolled her eyes at me and walked away. The sound stayed on for the game no one was watching. A little while later, I heard the manage YELL across the restaurant at the table behind us "you can just email ME directly" or something like that. We asked what happened, and the nice (not drunk) guy who was there with his elderly parents told us he had simply asked for the sound to be turned up on the game he was watching. He was rudely told that it wasn't their policy to do that and if he wanted to he could complain to the management. When he asked how to do that, the manager himself told him he should just leave and made the comment I referenced above. That's Customer Service for ya! read more

The guy on the other line said I could only use one coupon and not combine them. I remember Beyond the Glory when it really was Glory-ous. Now it's Beyond Bad. I used to eat lunch at BTG two or three times a week when I worked in Petaluma. I went there weekends too, to watch football and have lunch. We were always treated so well. I have to admit that I haven't been there this entire football season due to various other plans, but went today to get something good for lunch and to watch my football team. When I arrived, the hostess was in a trance. I asked her which TV the Dophins/Eagles game was playing on and she pointed to one that had tables where we could watch it but they were "reserved" and there were no other good seats in the bar area. I asked her if Aaron was in (he's the manager) and she said "Aaron?? Aaron?? Who is Aaron?". Gosh. Poor Aaron. His hostess doesn't recognize his name? I said "Aaron, the MANAGER?!?!" and there was slight recognition, but nothing more than a tiny spark. She sat us finally in the dining room and had the TV changed to the game we asked to watch since we were the only ones in this particular alcove. We ordered and our food wasn't good. The burger was overcooked, the chicken was dry and the fries were cold. Eh, it's now just bar food when it used to be really really good. The real kicker came when our game had 4 minutes left and an employee came over and started to change our channel. I said "Wait! Our game isn't over yet!". He looked at me like he didn't give 2 sh_ts and changed it anyway. I walked through the doors of Beyond Bad for the last time. It's sad. I loved this place for years. But with bad food, bad service and employees who don't care about the customer, why return? Moylan's and Ghiringhelli's treat the customers so much better. Also, the hostess you are very rudely speaking of was hired after Aaron's exit...she doesn't even know who he is...In turn, I'd like to suggest that if you have a problem with BTG or at any restaurant and you don't personally know the manager, you might want to simply ask for the MOD...that way, you can be heard and your problems can be addressed, instead of posting a comment on yelp like a coward. Second, you probably could have also asked the MOD to put your game back on the tv that you were watching and im sure that it would have been changed back. Again, if you are too timid to voice your concerns, how will they ever get addressed. Third, It has been brought to my attention that you use to be a regular here per Joni. Worst service I've ever had. As a waitress, I am slightly critical of the service I get-but mostly very forgiving. Today was a different story... Our waiter didn't give a flying frog that we were there. Granted, we were on the patio while his ONE (maybe two,tops) other table(s) were inside-but c'mon!!! It was obvious that we were just being ignored. We had to go inside after 15 minutes to ask for our order to be taken. When the food arrived (before the beer!!) was the last we saw of our waiter. 5 CENT BEER Promotion is a ripoff... Went for a Monday night football game that the 49ers were playing in. My friends and I wanted to take advantage of BTGs great 5 cent beer happy hour until the first score of MNF. Great idea right? Our server took our beer order 5 minutes before kickoff and everyone either got Coors or Bud light... easy enough right? Well the deal with this promotion is that you can get your beer right after kickoff, and order as many others as you want (must finish 1 before you can get another, understandable) until the first points are scored on Monday night Football only 5 CENTS a beer. Cool. It would have been cool if someone would have brought us our FIRST ROUND before a field goal was made... 5 MINUTES into the game... yes, 5 minutes into the first quarter. as in about 15 minutes of us sitting at our table wondering "where the hell are our beers?!?!" Needless to say, when we got the first round we were not happy, especially since they just brought us all Coors light. I'll start by saying that I really try to support all local businesses in Petaluma. I have given this place more than enough chances to win me over- but I am let down even more with each visit. It is frozen/microwavable food at best. My husband is a coach in town- and unfortunately- the team Moms keep giving us gift cards to this place. We literally throw them away now. It's that bad. Each time we come- I swear we have to wait- even when it is empty. I always feel as though I'm lucky to actually be seated. The layout is terrible-I can never seem to see the televisions- no matter where we are seated. They are very small screens-not good enough for a place that's billed as a "Sports Bar". Awkward benches, uncomfortable chairs. Always very loud in here- we can't even hold a conversation( and no, I'm not old- under 40). We have never had a good server here- ever. They take forever to come to your table and an eternity to return and take an order. They are always running around like the place is slammed- even though it's been basically empty the last few times I've been here. Our food has never come out at the same time.The burgers are rarely cooked to order. Fries taste as if the were frozen and then nuked, and still cold upon arrival. Game room is dirty/gross. Expensive- never under $60 for family of four with 2 small kids-no booze or desserts. I appreciate that they do fundraisers for local schools/causes. Like I said- had it not been for all the gift cards people gave us- we would have not come back after the first visit. Change the layout- and make better food. It's just that simple. Also- the reviews on here that give this place 5 stars- have little to no reviews in their profile...An obvious attempt to pump up the falling ratings. After my original review for this place, I received several messages from people angry with my review making claims that I must be affiliated with another bar/restaurant in town (I assure you I am not- read my other reviews). First off, I actually really like(ed) this place. I frequented here regularly over the past 2 years. The food was decent and the atmosphere is pretty chill and the staff is very friendly. HOWEVER, today (5/6/14) I went in at 3:55 to meet my buddy for a beer and an appetizer. I walked in and met my friend, and I noticed one of the Chefs or line cooks was coming into work behind me (black & white pinstriped "chef's" pants, an apron over his shoulder, walking with a purpose, etc). I went to the restroom real quick and to use the urinal wash my hands, and sure enough the cook/chef came in a a few seconds later. I was already thinking as I was using the urinal, "this guy better wash his freaking hands"... Weellllllll, he used the stall to take a leak (that means he touched his penis and urinated!!), and sure enough he walked right out of the bathroom WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS and went straight across into the door that leads into the kitchen. WOW. I grabbed my buddy, said something to the bartender about the incident and left. Such a shame. I will not be going in there again for food. MAYBE I'll go in for a beer. If this guy won't even wash his hands in front of a customer, what else is he doing wrong? Monica, Fluffy Bunny moved to Petaluma today and yours was my welcome-to-town dinner. Fluffy like some healthy eatin' so a grilled veggie sandwich seemed perfect (even for humans). We bunnies really don't like our veggies cooked to mush, slopped with cheese, and coated with that awful salt. Fluffy was hoping that your efforts since you bought the place would be further along. However, it's doubtful that I'll be back for a long while. I speak for all of the Bunny family when I say I'm disappointed because we were so hopeful for you. A great sports bar for both adults AND kids?! Sounds crazy, but it's true. A Petaluma buddy of mine has been raving about this place for ages. I finally checked it out on Sunday after my Lagunitas Brewing Co./Yelp event. First off, I was surprised to discover that this bar is situated in a shopping mall. It's not exactly the sexiest of locations - but hey, at least there's plenty of parking (and you can do your grocery shopping AND hit up Starbucks all in one foul swoop). When you walk through the doors, the first thing you'll notice is the insane number of TVs they have all over the place. There are at least 5 LCds above the bar (playing different games), one giant screen TV in the dining room, and 10 more scattered throughout the interior. I've never seen anything quite like it. It's a sports fan's dream come true! The service was friendly - lots of cute, young girls wearing football jerseys, and flirting with customers. The drinks are pretty standard. I'd recommend sticking with beers and shots. This isn't really a martini kind of place. It's a mostly local crowd (of all ages). The food is your typical sport pub grub (translation: lots of fried food). You can order burgers, fried calamari, fries, fish & chips, nachos, etc. I was surprised to learn that they do make their own salsa (and it's actually quite tasty). Menu prices are very reasonable. Now if you decide to come with the family, they have a little arcade in the back area. So while the kids are busy playing video games, mom and dad can saddle up at the bar with a beer and enjoy the "adult" games on the screen. All in all, this place def lived up to the hype. I have loved going to BTG since the time they opened and I even worked there for about 6 months and always loved the food. Their whole menu was delicious and their weekend breakfast was awesome! Over the last year I have noticed the quality of their food has declined but I have continued to go back thinking it was maybe just a fluke and I wanted to continue to support a place I have loved for so long hoping it would improve again. Today, however, I am certain they are a long way off from where they started. I hadn't been for breakfast in a while so I decided to treat a friend there. I was greeted by a woman who reeked of cigarette smoke so badly that I couldn't think of anything else while she was standing there and even when she walked away the smell lingered. Add to that the fact that her fake nails were ridiculously long, clanking and tapping on our menus, cups and plates - very distracting and questionable on wether or not that is sanitary in food service anyway. We ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon and a kids plate for my daughter that said it came with hash browns. The food came - although the eggs were poached nicely, the hollandaise on the eggs benedict was completely separated and did not have very good flavor. Under that was bacon that had been microwaved. Yes, microwaved! So floppy and gross. The English muffins were hardly toasted so they were chewy. My daughters kids plate came with nice scrambled eggs, but on the side sausage that was so shriveled up, dried and crusty that I wouldn't even feed it to a dog. Seriously. What was supposed to be hash browns (according to the menu) came out as country style potatoes mixed with red & green peppers and onions. I mentioned to our waitress that the menu said it came with hash browns, not these potatoes, she said "Well we haven't served hash browns in practically years. Parents don't want to give their kids fried potatoes." First of all: How am I supposed to know you stopped serving what your menu says? Why don't you tell someone there's been a menu change while they are ordering an item with said change. Better yet - if you haven't served hash browns in "practically years" change your dang menu already! Second: I guess I am "one of those parents" who wants to feed my kid fried potatoes - she's 14mo old and won't eat the mix of potato, peppers and onion you're serving on the kids menu and I don't blame her because it's gross. I will absolutely not be returning for breakfast and I'm questioning if I will even be coming back for lunch or dinner. Typical sports bar with good beer selection and okay food. Normally the experience here is fine, but last Friday was pretty painful. It was understandably crowded for a Friday night, so we weren't expecting to be in and out but we were expecting to have our waitress at least pay attention to us. We had to get up out of our seats and ask if we could place our order after she avoided us for a good half an hour after she served us our beers and appetizer. Also, when we asked her what the Lagunita's guest beer was she flat our said "What the fuck"...Now, we know that the name of this beer is WTF, but it doesn't stand for what the fuck and even if it did, it's probably not a good idea to say it to your guests....right?! It was just really weird and honestly a little uncomfortable. Overall, we will go back for the beer and mediocre food, but the waitstaff needs to step it up. read more

WARNING: NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH FOOD SENSITIVITIES. (For the record, prior to posting this I left a phone message and actually sent the restaurant a physical letter with my contact information, but I never received any kind of a reply). I recently had the opportunity to visit Beyond the Glory with a group of family members (11 people total). The visit started on a down note - I would say the general attitude of our server was that we represented an inconvenience (during the initial interaction she seemed somewhat annoyed). We ordered a round of drinks, mostly beers, and when the beers arrived they were the wrong variety. Our server then asked us if we wanted them replaced with the correct order (I would assume rather than ask, the replacements would just be provided to correct the error). Our server left the table but the updated drink order never arrived - we eventually went up to the bar to complete the exchange. So, not a great start service-wise. The real issue came when we placed our dinner order. I have two children who have food allergies - both are allergic to peanuts, and one is allergic to dairy. We asked if the server could review the menu to help us review some options, and her very curt response was, "they can have salads, that's it." When we tried to inquire further, her response was, "they just tell us to say you can have salads." My wife then asked if we could check in with the chef for clarification and her answer was initially a flat no. When we pressed further, she eventually said there would be a language barrier and there wasn't anybody we could speak with. My wife and I were both flabbergasted by the curt tone and complete absence of a, "let me clarify what options might be available," attitude. Living with a peanut allergy can be tough, and I would never have an expectation that BTG has to accommodate the dietary needs of our family, but I believe it is fair to have an expectation of good service. In all honestly, it's not content of the "we have nothing for you" that's an issue - it's how the message was delivered. If the exact result had been the same, but the message had been, "hold on, let me check," then later, "unfortunately, due to the use of peanut oil you need to avoid X, Y and Z, however here are the items which we can make work," it would go a long way towards making us feel welcome in your restaurant (instead of being regarded as a big pain in your ass). Getting back to our visit, the server agreed that a hot dog would be a viable option since the way it was prepared would prevent cross contamination, so that's what we ordered (clarifying that no fries should be included due to their being fried in peanut oil). When the order arrived, the hot dog was covered in fries (obviously very dangerous) which gave a clear indication BTG lacked attention to detail - at that point my wife and I decided that we couldn't really take BTG's word on anything so we got up and left leaving the rest of our family to finish their meals. I don't expect BTG to be able to solve for every possible food allergy scenario, but I do think your restaurant could make several small changes that would go a long way towards making those with food allergies feel welcome, even if the options are limited. In terms of both the initial interaction and the subsequent lack of attention (delivering fries prepared in peanut oil after explicitly discussing the situation) it would have been easier if your restaurant simply had a, "BE ADVISED WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE ANY PATRONS WITH FOOD SENSITIVITIES," sign on your front door. At the very least, we'd know what sort of welcome we'd be likely to receive if we made the choice to visit. I understand that safety and liability are real issues - you may not just want to deal with it. But, a little training for your staff could go a long way towards learning to handle these situations more elegantly. The letter I sent to the BTG manager wasn't just complaining, I actually provided some constructive examples from three other restaurants in the Petaluma area. In all three cases, while the dining options may have ultimately been just as limited, the interaction was handled with a lot more class.
