Last Sunday I ordered chicken tandoori and it was so stale, it smelled and tasted so bad. We threw it in garbage.

Loved this place! Went on a Friday night around 6 & it wasn't very busy at all. Our waitress was very kind & attentive. Got the chicken vindaloo, butter chicken, and the lamb saag, along with garlic naan. Also got the mango lassi to drink which was absolutely delicious. The butter chicken had a great flavor, as did the vindaloo. Would definitely have them again. The lamb saag wasn't my favorite, taste wise, but was still good. We love this place! We have been here 5+ times both for the lunch buffet and dinner. The servers (2 sisters) are very sweet and helpful with menu choices. The food is always delicious and probably spiced which has been a challenge as mine is mild and his is always spicy-usually at least one dish is too spicy or too mild but not here! I go to this place at least once a week. It's my favorite restaurant since moving to Utah. The food is delicious, the prices are not outrageous, and the family that owns the business are the nicest people. If you are in the mood for Indian style food, this is the place to go in Sandy! I've eaten here twice now and both times were great! It's high quality Indian food at really reasonable prices, and it seems to be a small family operation so they are really attentive and friendly! They have made a point to have quality table settings and the atmosphere is perfect for a nice date, but without the prices of a chain like Bombay House. And the food is better anyway! I had the lamb chow chow and my wife had lamb coconut korma, we both loved them and loved the onion naan! The also have a lunch buffet but we haven't tried it yet, we're looking forward to it though! This restaurant is such a treat! Our new favorite for our visits to SLC. Wonderful family owned restaurant with a wide assortment of delicious dishes from India, Nepal and Bhutan. We found it at the beginning of our weeklong trip and returned again later in the week. Everyone at the table loved everything we ordered. Spice scale is 1-8. Be advised that 1-3 is what you'd expect and 4-8 are serious heat. Ask for advice if you're unsure. Don't miss the Momo appetizers (we did vegetarian and it was sooo good)! Our waitress first suggested the chicken is her favorite. Enjoy! After reading a few other reviews- I feel compelled to add: this restaurant does serve very good Indian food, however it is called Bhutan kitchen. When we asked why, we learned that the family comes from Nepal and Bhutan. Upon learning that, we abandoned our go-to Indian menu choices and studied the specials. The food here is AMAZING. We came here on the first night of our ski trip and made sure to come back again right before hitting the airport. We LOVED the coconut korma. The garlic naan, roti, chana masala, and vegan daal were excellent. They can do super spicy or mild. As vegans, they were so accommodating. Bhutan is run by a wonderful family. Experience was very meh. Ordered delivery with lamb curry and malai kofta. Curry was decent, but nothing special. Malai kofta was 2 star. Sauce was pretty thin, and the dumplings were kind of gummy. Also, only 3 dumplings in the order felt a little skimpy. Maybe we just ordered wrong, but I'll be back at Kathmandu for my beloved malai kofta from here on out. Pretty reasonably priced for what you get, where for roughly $10 your in, and you'll leave full. I did like the overall experience, and it seemed to pick up traffic a little around 7pm. Great options on the buffet like the curry, tandoori chicken, and coconut korma. The Lamb curry happened to be the best in my opinion. My kids are vegetarian, and the veggie curry was rich up here as one of the top dishes in the buffet line! Once we found it, we went back for more. However, the "chow chow" (?) was not that great, and probably belongs on another restaurants menu. As others have mentioned, the food can be and is pretty spicy, but they were kind enough to accept the special request from my kids, and brought us out some without all the spice, and that helped considerably. read more

Just finished a very nice meal here. I ordered a specialty vegetarian dish from Bhutan and they very kindly added some chicken for a small upcharge. I ordered medium spicy, which I recommend and ask them for a side of the super hot sauce they have. Then add as much of it to the meal to spice it up to your taste. They even brought me a slice of the pizza that the cooks made for themselves for dinner. And the waitress was a total sweetheart. If I'm back in the area again, will definitely come again. read more

I can't believe I haven't been here before!! This is near my home. The service is FANTASTIC and the owners are very kind and care about their customers. Food is DELICIOUS. Probably going to make this a weekly visit. My husband called and was put on hold for almost 10 minutes so he drove to the restaurant. I really have no frame of reference when it comes to Bhutanese food but the food was fresh and amazing. We ordered Indian dishes we are familiar with and omg they were tasty. The naan was made in house and not pre-made. The tikka masala has a thick sauce, rather than runny sauce like most places, and it was full of spices. The waitress was very kind an attentive. We did most mild spice is the only thing I can think off however Ive been to many indian restaurants with mild curry packed with flavor. There were 7 adults and 4-5 different dishes and everyone thought each dish was bland. May need to try a different day to see if we had a one off experience. Ordered 3 entrees, naan and samosas. Entrees were requested at spice levels medium, hot and extra hot respectively. None of the entrees were spicy at all! The samosas didn't have any salt and the garlic naan was missing garlic. Not pleased at all. I have ordered here before and it was spiced appropriately so at worst, it is inconsistent. On the plus side, the flavors are good and food is cooked well. Just need to get the spice right. read more

My husband and I love this restaurant as the food is excellent, with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options, and the service is top notch! When we ordered the vegetable dumplings, our server suggested the chili dumplings and wow!, they were amazing! She was also kind to change my husband's ambitious choice of a '3' spice level (on a scale from 1 to 8 of spiciness) to a '2' when she realized that I ordered my meal at a spice heat level of '2' and knew we intended to share it. I'm glad she did because any spicier would have made it less enjoyable. They take very good care of you here! We ordered the coconut korma curry and paneer tikka masala with rice and plain tandoori naan which were all amazing! The Indian Tea (chai) is the authentic stuff... It's not sweet but more like a rich, full-bodied black tea with cream. We finished off with the coconut ice cream and mango ice cream which were both light and refreshing. Oh yes! Bhutan house opened about 6 months ago, in a space that has rotated through 5 restaurants in 5 years (or so it seems). Go here for amazing flavors and let's make this a successful family owned restaurant in Sandy. We had vegetable chow chow which is a noodle dish with a sweetish tomato sauce and the Bhutan curry vegetarian as well. We got both mild and they were very mild so the efficient waitress brought us add'l heat with a word of caution to not use too much. The curry was almost tangy and paired so well with the noodle dish. There are several other items on the menu that are intriguing in addition to the expected cast of characters- tikka, korma etc. I think it is a good sign when the tables are populated with those who look native to the region of the restaurant and I hope that next time info it will be busier with the foodies that live and eat in Sandy. They have a beer and wine license too, with a decent selection- So that's a plus for them and for their future customers. Stopped in a couple days ago while in SLC for work. I had never tried Bhutanese food and very excitedly ordered the ema datshi. The owner and his daughters were great, they seemed surprised that I ordered Bhutanese food (they also serve a lot of food that you'd find on Indian restaurant menus). I also got the bhatura which tasted quite similar to fried dough. The food was great, they even brought be extra rice and some really good hot sauce. Stopped in on a Sunday evening for dinner. The building is decorated with some of the typical darker colored interiors with some pictures and TV's on the walls. The restroom situation is a bit unique as the restaurant is through the door to your right when you walk in and the restrooms are located to a hallway on the left so it almost feels as though you have to leave the restaurant. There were only a few other people eating when we arrived so we were seated quickly and we're able to order a few dishes. We ordered garlic Naan, chicken vindaloo, chicken coconut korma, aloo matter and paneer Tika masala. All of the dishes were delightful. The portions weren't huge but they weren't overly small. I think we actually ended up with chicken Tika masala or that was the meatiest paneer I have ever had. For dessert we got gulab jamun which was a bit more sugary than I am used to as there were small crystals of sugar when I was eating it. They were a bit larger than normal but I am not sure if I liked them as much and there were two of them compared to three of the smaller ones. Overall I think the experience was enjoyable and wouldn't hesitate to come back and try the buffet as the buffet table was much bigger than most. read more

**WARNING FOR ALL THOSE ALLERGIC TO GLUTEN/CELIAC** On our second visit to Bhutan House our waitress could not let us know which items on the menu were gluten free (my girlfriend is allergic), and which were not, even though some items on the menu are marked with "G". The marking on the menu seems inconsistent, as you'd expect some "G" items to have gluten, and others to not. Because of this we asked her to verify our entire order with the chef, which she did and confirmed everything we were ordering was gluten free. I was ordering naan for myself, so when the waitress came to let us know everything was good she let my girlfriend know they also had a gluten free bread option (roti, which we later learned was NOT gluten free), so we added this to the order. When it came to the table my girlfriend had 1/2 a slice, I had a bite, and quickly realized I was tasting whole wheat flour. We sent the roti back to the kitchen, who promptly started to make us another one. Why, I'm not sure. We refused the remake, again stated she could not eat gluten, and at this point were told by the waitress that the roti was not gluten free, it was vegan. Great! But not helpful whatsoever. My girlfriend is now struggling from her symptoms which likely will last the majority of this weekend. Just wanted to update this review for anyone else that is having issues with the Bhutan House menu. The food is still good, however the menu perhaps needs a rewrite/review, and the servers need to do a much, much better job understanding food allergies and how they may affect their clientele.
