Food: the food taste is good and flavorful but quantity for price/value is terrible. $18 Prawn coconut curry has 4 pieces of shrimp & a ton of soup gravy. $5 for 1 poori before you used to get 2 pieces or at least you do at the SLC location. Not sure if it's inflation or they are just being very stingy. But I was definitely hungry after. For $25 that should not be the case. We just had a shrimp dish in Moab, UT for the same price, same size shrimp, 7-8 pieces. The veggie sample platter for $10 had 1 samosa, 3 tiny onion fritters size of a quarter & a bunch of sliced red onion crumbs. A platter should hold enough to share the variety. It was very mediocre. Service: the staff was in such a rush that they didn't even listen 1/2 the time. We had to ask for refills each every time 3x & flag down. Ambience: comfortable booths, standard Indian restaurant. We decided to try a new restaurant today for date night. We had never been to Himalayan Kitchen before and we wanted Indian food so we decided to go there. It was pretty easy to find and there was tons of parking. We didn't have to wait long at all to be sat down which was great. The atmosphere is nice and quiet although the music was a little odd for a sit down restaurant. Although it is songs I like. Just not relaxing music. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to come. The Mango Lassie was really good and the best part of our meal. The vegetable platter was pretty good but lacking in flavor. And sadly the chicken tikka masala was not that great. It was good but nothing special. It really lacked in flavor. The garlic naan was dry and flavorless. I just felt like the whole meal needed more salt and flavor. The server was nice although it seems like she's the only one running the show so she's really busy. It took awhile to check out. They probably just are understaffed right now. Overall it was an okay experience but when the food isn't that great it's hard to give a place more stars. read more
