$90 and 35 minutes of what I could easily sum up the attitude of the hair stylist as "it is what it…read moreis" accompanied by the shrug emoji with arms out and palms up. Everything about this experience was questionable at best. First, during shampooing, the stylist sprayed all over my face. More than once so it was not an accident, it was lack of thoughtfulness. They didn't bother wiping the water off or attempted to block the water with their hand. It seemed they wanted to quickly get it over with, not even tried to shampoo the hair in the back by lifting up or tilting my head to the side once. And as expected, no head massage. Then came drying with a towel. They could not care less. At that point, a robe wasn't offered, but it didn't matter, they slapped the completely soaking-wet towel on my shoulder, made my clothes wet immediately. At the same time, water was streaming, not just dripping, down from my hair and from the towel onto the floor as I walked back to the chair, because there was so much water. I looked into the mirror, my face had water, it was obvious, they knew they sprayed all over my face. The seat was wet, my clothes were wet, I was uncomfortable and cold during the rest of the time being there. I thought to myself, it had only been 10 minutes since I walked in, the haircut hadn't begun and I already had a bad feeling. My hair was cut and done in 10-15 minutes. I was surprised and thought, my previous haircuts usually sectioned into at several smaller parts and meticulously going back and forth to make sure the cut is even. How could this be it, surely they plan to detail it after they blow dried the hair, right? Then came blow drying, where you press the nozzle of the hair dryer onto the hair and pull and repeat. The heat was hot against my scalp it hurt, and I suddenly realized that they didn't put any heat protectant before this, while other salons had always done it. Was I being too spoiled, I questioned myself, that heat protectant had always been unnecessary? Total 35 minutes, and I felt every step could had spent a little more time, put in a little more effort, showed more care and done better, because, why not? I arrived to my appointment exactly on time and no one else was waiting after me, so what was the rush? Give me the 60 minutes your website appointment stated and give me the high-end price of $90 haircut service that I paid for. I say that because after I got home, for the first time using my mirror to see the hair in the back, it was choppy! The things I noticed that you did with such carelessness, then it's natural to assume that the haircut would also be done with carelessness, and indeed that was the result. To be blunt, this service reminded me of going to Supercuts when I was thirteen, except I paid $15. My experience was only based on one hair stylist at the salon.

Fantastic haircut! Exactly what I wanted (and I'm picky, with a texture most find challenging) My stylist was Georgina and I 100% recommend her! I have thick, coarse, wavy hair that was down to my hips, and requested long layers with some adjustments in the style and cutting technique. I've lived in the Bay Area for a decade now, and have tried a number of salons at various price points (25-200) and have nearly always been disappointed in the final result, or the value of my service. Bibo is warm and inviting, the stylists are welcoming and professional, and really take the time to listen to what the client wants and needs, and make a sincere effort to do their best (and they did for me!). I had almost given up on getting my hair cut in the US (I'm Indian, and love my cuts back home), and Bibo has really turned around how I'm feeling. Will be returning. Well done Bibo! read more

Absolutely amazing experience at the cutest and most aesthetically pleasing new hair salon in Downtown Oakland! My blowout was made my hair look absolutely perfect for my event, but more important the atmosphere and vibe of the salon was wonderful. The receptionist was a total sweetheart with a warm and kind demeanor. Suzie totally changed my life (and my hair) at BIBO! She started with a dry cut (which is ideal because my hair is naturally very wavy) and then gave me my first ever highlights while I enjoyed some bubbly and a magazine. Then I got a dreamy shampoo and head massage. I finished with a blowout that made my hair look the best it ever has in my entire life! Subtle highlights, great shape, gorgeous movement... I could go on! I couldn't ask for a nicer space, either. BIBO is a very effortlessly elegant salon, with top of the line products and real attention to detail. The Vagaro system canceled the appointment. My boyfriend did not miss an appointment as there was no appointment for him to attend. I was physically in the salon for my own haircut when I was told that, because the cancellation did not appear on your end, it would be treated as a no-show and the deposit would be forfeited. Being told that "it doesn't matter that the app canceled" felt dismissive, especially since this was a platform failure outside of our control. I completely understand protecting stylists' time and livelihoods. However, when a business chooses to rely on third-party booking software, system errors are part of that risk, and placing the full financial burden on the customer in those cases does not feel reasonable. A more flexible or empathetic approach would have gone a long way. My feedback is about tone, accountability, and fairness when technology fails, not about avoiding payment. ______________________________________ Initial review: This review is for Sonia Luque. I never go out of my way to write a negative review, but this situation truly upset me because of her lack of humility and understanding. I am a repeat customer and often refer people to this salon, but I will be sure not to do that again. I booked an appointment for my boyfriend, and the Vagaro app canceled it for some reason. Rather than understand that the appointment got canceled by the app, she decided to keep our $70 deposit, and said it would not count toward the next appointment. In the most smug way I have ever heard, she said "well I was here on time". I didn't argue that she doesn't deserve to be paid. But you're a business using an imperfect tool to book appointments, and your response to customers should reflect that. I don't appreciate smugness, and I don't appreciate being treated like a liar.
