Helpful, friendly family owned, well established local shop. I live in Riverside. I stopped in while riding. My brakes were squealing. The mechanic fixed it in just a few moments while I waited. He also checked over the whole bike carefully before he started working. He warned me my chain was near the midpoint of its life and even replaced a missing plug into my handlebars. I will return. Two bicycles in for minor repairs and tune up. They were up front with costs, made suggestions to which I agreed to all but two(try to keep costs down). I guess my idea of a "tune up" and theirs differ. I would have expected the chains to be oiled upon pickup. After loading them up I noticed both chains had not been touched, although it was noted on the invoice how much life was left on the wear of these. Walked back inside to inquire, was told they should have been. Would rather have heard "they should have been but let's just walk back out to make sure before you unload them again". I guess the next time I bring something in, I will have this shop be even more specific about what I'm paying for and what exactly I'm being given for my costs. read more

Had a problem with rear disk brake on my mtb. Rotor would rub when riding but not when lifting up the rear wheel and spinning it. Another bike shop couldn't figure out how to fix it but these guys did. Had my mtb fixed ahead of schedule at a fair price. Excellent! read more

I just bought a new 2012 Specialized road bike. Both guys, in the shop, seemed knowledgable and very helpful. There was NO pressure to buy anything extra. They didn't try to UPSELL me anything. I'm happy with the service I received. I was even invited to go on a bike ride with the guys from the shop. My only negative is, the bike I bought was about $20.00 less at In-cycle, in San Dimas. I won't be going to any other bike shop. I shopped around before making any final decisions about my purchase. This was the last place I came to and the closest to my home and it should've been the first. I wasted a lot of time going to other places. I forget the guys name but he was super helpful and actually advised me on a bike that fit my needs, not one with upgrades and fancy whatever. I told him what I was looking for and my rider style and he knew exactly what I wanted before I even told him what I had been looking at. And instead of offering me the one with all the gears, he recommended the single gear due to my lack of experience and the fact that I'm a casual rider. I had priced around and their prices beat all I had seen. Not by a crazy amount but by at least $20 (every bit counts). You have a returned customer in me. You can tell these guys know their stuff. I went next door (to the competitor) and the guy there admitted he didn't ride and could only answer basic questions. Frustrating and not helpful to a noob like me. Every time I patronize a mom and pop shop, I remember why. Great customer service and people who actually care and have a passion. Kudos to the whole staff. Cheers! read more

Such an awesome place!!! My fiancée and I walked in to just ask questions and look at our options for bikes, and we were immediately greeted by the staff. Erick was the gentleman that answered all 100 of our questions. :) The bikes were organized, and he pointed us toward the mountain bikes section since that was what I was looking for. He asked us our price range and showed us bikes at around that price. I fell in love with one of the Trek bikes, and Erick even pulled it out so I could hop on and see if it was the correct length for me. We then learned that they could put that bike on layaway for two months with at least a 20% deposit, and have it paid in full by the time we take it home. My fiancée and I will return to purchase a bike for her. Erick was extremely helpful, and the other gentleman in the back (whose name I forgot) was awesome too! Overall - I don't have any complaints and am happy with my purchase! read more

This is a really cool local bike shop. I don't live in the area but was visiting the neighborhood so I stopped in to pick up a bell for my road bike. I hadn't thought it through, and didn't realize I would need something with a clamp big enough for the top of my bar. The store didn't carry any of those, despite having a wide selection of bells for cruisers and the like. But instead of saying sorry and sending me on my way, the gentleman at the counter asked his coworker about a bell that might fit. When he confirmed that there indeed exists such a bell that could be purchased direct from the manufacturer (Spurcycle bell), he wrote down the name of the bell on the back of a business card. How cool is that?? You gotta give props to a store that points you to the thing you need, even if they don't sell it. Even though I needed a lot of repairs on my bike and it was obvious that it was not worth that much to begin with, the gentleman that helped me was very helpful and understanding. He was able to order the parts I needed and do all of the repairs for a fairly reasonable price. He even gave me some tips on how to keep my bike in good shape over the years. I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews on their customer service. It may have been due to a particular person. I went in this morning to buy a bike. There were 3 staff at the shop - the lady owner, Ken and another gentleman. All of them were superb in serving me. The owner even offered my wife coffee while waiting for me to test out 2 bikes with Ken. And Ken was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and patient. And the other gentleman, whom i never got to know his name, was cheerful and always smiling. Frankly, I compared prices online with all the bike shops in the area before deciding to come here. Incycle is always expensive. Jax still costs more. Unfortunately you won't know how much Bicycle Central charges for their bikes till you visit because their website doesn't have prices. I happened to pop in last week so I knew their prices. They are still cheaper than the others. I don't believe the rude staff are around anymore, I may be wrong though but based on my experience I will go back again and will recommend them to anyone who needs a bike. read more

Let me start by saying that in some cases, it may actually BE BETTER TO SHOP AT A BIG DEPARTMENT STORE rather than a small business (how dare I write this ON SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY). My wife purchased a gift certificate at Bicycle Central for me for our anniversary, but we accidentally lost it. They have a strict policy stating that the certificates are like cash, so if lost, there is nothing they can do about it. We tried to rectify the situation by speaking to someone at the store, asking if there was any way to void our certificate and issue us a new one...long story short( I know too late), they informed us that even though they have record of each and every certificate sold, THEY ARE TOO BUSY to check the certificates used each time a customer redeems. It's not like I'm asking about a $10, $20, or even $100 certificate, but one for $400! I guess they sell so many for that same amount that it's too difficult to keep track - NO, THE MANAGER CONFIRMED THIS IS A RARE AMOUNT and gift certs for this $$ amount stands out. I even suggested they keep the copy of my old certificate near the register to check to see if my lost certificate had been found and attempted to be redeemed. The manager said that would be too much trouble to track. I asked to speak to the owner, but he wasn't there that day. OWNER DID NOT CALL BACK, the same manager later called my wife and left her a message stating that they have their policy and the only thing they could do is to "let" us buy a bike, then if we found the certificate, they could then put that amount towards our purchase. If it wasn't ever found though, we would be out that amount. DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A SMALL BUSINESS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE like what is normally said about BIG BUSINESSES? Sounds like a nice win-win situation for the shop, but as of today, they have our money and we have no bike. Is this the thanks we get for supporting a small business? read more

Hi Bicycle Central My name is Raymond I'd like to leave my honest and unbiased review of the shop. *I am in no way affiliated with the shop* Well about a week ago I went around searching for a bicycle shop to help me put together two bicycles that I had taken apart to paint and give it a little overhaul. Of course I would have just bought 2 new bikes instead but we both work for the school district and we are currently on summer break so funds are a bit tight, but we wanted something to enjoy this summer while we go fishing and to the beach. I went to a few shops prior that same day and many of them I felt overcharged me for the service and when I asked certain questions about tires they didn't understand what I was saying. After about an hour of frustration I decided to drive over to the bicycle shop. I felt if I couldn't find a proper shop to help me out after here I was going to attempt to do it myself. Well I walk in with my girlfriend and we're immediately greeted with a smile by Matt. He asked if we were searching for anything and we decided to small talk instead. I felt really comfortable with Matt and told him about my 2 bicycle projects. He quoted me a great price and showed me around the shop on different items and accessories we can throw on the bikes. I told him I will be fishing and wanted to use my bike to help me take my tackle box. He mentioned a rear bike rack to hold my stuff. I never felt that I was being sold something more so just being shown what would work best for my needs. Matt was a very nice guy and the shop was great. I will be dropping off my bicycle with them tomorrow to get worked on and can't wait to get it back as I know they will take care of us. After this summer when the school year begins I will surely be back to purchase a new bike. I'm hoping my girlfriend and I will have some nice little adventures this summer and bicycle shop is a huge reason as to why we'll be having fun. Thank you and thank you Matt. read more
