The customer service here is complete ass. I called about a back tire tube for my e-bike. This is the first time I have ever owned one and no really nothing about them. I told him I needed a back tube for it. He told me to send him a picture of it to see if they had any in stock. While I was waiting for my boyfriend to send me a picture I continued down the list of different e bikes to call. Apparently I called the same guy his response was " you already call me and I already told you what to do" I then said I apologize and I was going to explain to him I was waiting for the picture from my boyfriend and before I could even get any of that out he told me not to apologize to him. I hung up on him and now I see why there eating on help are horrible. TERRIBLE customer service and I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Stan's is a good old fashioned Local Bicycle Shop (LBS). The kind that has a shop cat and a shop dog. If you are looking for a shinny chrome and glass bicycle superstore this ain't it. If you are looking for a shop staffed with rail thin semi pro racers that look down on anyone with more than 2ounces of fat on their bodies, this REALLY isn't the shop for you. If however you want a place where you can get good advice honest repairs and talk bikes with some really nice people, then Stan's is your shop. Carlos has organized some terrific group rides. The annual Tour de Taco is a party that goes on and on. 20ish miles and five taco stops. It was a blast. If you are near Azusa and ride, stop in and say hi, I think you will be glad you did. read more

I'm torn between giving these guys 2 to 3 stars. I chose 3 because they work they did on my bike is stellar! I went into Stan's for a Tune Up, a replacement tube, and ended up doing some more necessary. In Covid-19 times, with my gym closed and me inside working from home most days. I chose to run 2 miles to the shop to pick up my bike. I stepped into the shop where Carlos stopped me because I wasn't wearing a face mask. I completely understand this, I didn't realize I forgot my face mask until I was 1.75 miles into my run to the shop. My intent was to ask for a safe solution. When I mentioned I forgot my mask he sternly and a little rudely suggested I "run back" because of he and his colleagues health. Again, I understood that and didn't want to put them at risk at all. I stepped out and finally suggested that that I pay through Venmo and he leave my bike outside so I can take home. I felt Carlos' response to be unnecessarily aggressive as I understood the issue and just wanted a safe solution for all. Outside of this issue, they were great at communicating everything my bike needed and felt their work was of very high quality. I'd still recommend. I like that it's a local shop and owners seem down to earth. I just felt that I was treated like a child and was spoken to rudely when being friendly with them. read more

Really not the best shop in town. Very frustrated with this bike shop. I went in for a routine flat tire. After leaving my bike there overnight, I picked up the next morning. Then I hit the trail for a ride. During my ride, I noticed the mechanic did not tighten it right. I was hearing clicking when I was trying to climb or gain speed. Now off to the shop for a 2nd time. They fixed, test rode around the block and it seemed fine. When I get home, I noticed they put on the rear tirebackwards!!! Couldn't believe it! This is very basic stuff!! Now off to the store for a 3rd time in a day!! Really bad service! I make my way to the store to be told to pick it up in the morning! Over 3 days spent just to fix a flat! I lost the bolt that holds the shift cable to my derailleur. I went to a couple bike shops but they didn't have the correct bolt and could only offer me a whole new derailleur as replacement. I knew the bolt was something I wouldn't find at a hardware store so I gave Stans Bike Shop a try since I was in Azusa for other business. The gentleman working in the front of the store found a replacement immediately. It was only a few bucks. I was going to pay with my ATM or credit card because I didn't have any cash on me at that time. The guy told me the fees alone to use their machine were going to raise the price of the bolt to around ten dollars. I told him I'd check my cup holder in the truck for spare change but I only had around $2 dollars in there. He told me that was ok and added the difference from his own pocket! I was ready to come back another day or try somewhere else. That was a very nice thing to do. They now have a customer for life just because that simple gesture in great customer service. I was in the market for a Qualisports folding e-bike and was referred to this shop by Qualisports themselves. We gave this shop a call for availability since I live an hour away. We were told by the owner that the model we wanted was in stock. One of the first things that I asked when I got there was the price. He told me that the prices are whatever is on the Qualisports website. I immediately test rode both the Nemo ($899 at the time of this writing) and the Volador ($1099). I liked the Volador more. For $200 more, the upgrades are worth it, the owner agreed. Much to my surprise, all Qualisports that he has on inventory had 40-50 miles on them (worth of test riding). In addition, they had several nicks and scratches on the LCD display and the body. I then asked for some discount to compensate for the units being floor models with noticeable signs of use. He offered me $100 discount, which I gladly accepted. However, much to my surprise (again), the total bill came up to $1300+. He said that that's the price for the Volador actually being in stock and that the price on Qualisports' website is for pre-orders if I'm willing to wait. At that point, I happily backed out and drove another hour back home. 40-50 miles on the odometer and several scratches on all units were things that I wish were mentioned over the phone. This is a scam place not a bike shop. I had a snapped derailleur cable and brought my bike in to replace it. He kept my bike for almost a week then told me that he cannot fix it because the cable snapped inside the derailleur (perhaps when he tried to remove it) and he was swamped with work and didn't have the time. Mind you, he already took the bike in for almost a week and did nothing but dirty the cork tape on my handlebars, which I installed just a week before, and removed the cable from the derailleur along with the housing. On top of this he charged me 20$ for doing practically nothing and giving my bike back without a derailleur cable, a piece still stuck in the shifter and basically unusable. Took it to Pasadena Cyclery where they fixed it in less than a week. I needed it new housing too, since he ruined it. This place is not for road bikes. He is also rude as hell. read more

Had a minor flat tire fix that i expected to take days and days. Decided to drop it off today and to my surprise they called 5 hours later saying it was finished. I was even able to add on a water bottle cage as they have plenty of accessories. I always try to support / shop local and these guys were great. Friendly, fast, reasonable prices. Just went In 20 mins before closing to see if they had a 30.9 size seat post ,roped off front entrance and old man couldn't even get up off his chair to greet me and rather yell across the store. Asking rudely" can I help you." Asked for a 30.9 seat post just a basic one to put in my bike to sell it off. Then rudely replies speak up " oh well sorry all the posts we have are not basic and come in 50 different sizes. I just said I'm looking for a 30.9 post and to see what he has. I get cut off by him so he can chat it up with another customer or buddy that walked in crossing the entrance border. He doesn't do anything about it or searches for it. But I noticed an employee listening in on conversation. So I see him searching for one. Tell the owner or guy behind the register that we don't have one. I wait another 2-3 minutes before the guy decided to relay the message to me. I get no bye , no sorry, no help. So they get no business from me next time read more

They kept my bike for 3 weeks and never did any work on it. It was not shifting right in the back and needed new bar tape and brake hoods. I kept calling to ask about status (since the owner said it would take about a week and never proactively communicated with me). Every time I called I got a different story. "we're waiting to give the right hoods." "We're having trouble finding the bar tape." (That I found in 15 seconds with Google) "We're waiting for my supplier to deliver the bar tape." "I'll call you later today." (never happened) "I'll call you on Monday." (Never happened). They never even tried to fix the shifting, which was just a little out of adjustment. I finally just picked up my bike and took it to a legit shop, where they took care of it in about 30 min. I can't imagine what keeps Stan's in business. read more

I love Old Town Monrovia!! One of favorite cities to visit in Southern CA. It has so many nostalgic and timeless shops and restaurants. Shops with history like Stan's Bike Shop. They're currently rearranging their store layout so be patient, shop owners and guys like Carlos really care about their customers. It is a small and modest bike shop, but they try their best to find whatever their customer needs are. I admire that type of attentive customer service. I called in looking to see if they could value and/or sell my bike on consignment. Whomever I talked to on the phone had an attitude right away and I was taken by surprise. I was nothing but polite with him. I know that it may seem that there is a second side to this story but there really isn't. He was just rude, impatient, and made no sense from beginning to end. He asked me a few basic questions about the bike (Some of them were completely strange and irrelevant) and quickly gave a value of 100-150 depending on the condition. I've done extensive research on the bike (and found what little info exists) and know that isn't true. Then he kept asking what I wanted and I repeatedly told him that I would like to obtain a value for my bicycle. Then he'd ask, "well what do you want for it?" What? He asked random questions that had nothing to do with valuing the bike and then proceeded to tell me there is almost nothing he could do to value it over the phone. Then he asked some more random and irrelevant quesitions. I would never be a customer here. read more

After years of letting my old racing bike get dusty (which seemed to coincide with my mid-section getting larger). And after many "too cool for school" bike shops where the employees were only somewhat helpful and in the end sounded like they just wanted to make a quick sale. They encouraged me to actually ride it with fellow cyclists that congregate at the shop. Not only did I get a new bike, I got new friends in the bargain! This store is great. I was there to buy a bottle cage but the only cage that fit my bike had a tiny bottle. Stan changed it for one 2x the size at no cost. Also if you're a begginer you will get some good tips from Stan. I've been here many times to buy tires, tubes, freewheels etc and I have never felt ripped off as I did at other bike stores. I purchased all new components for my mountain bike and needed a place to get it all installed without it costing me too much. I wrote an email for a quote and Carlos the owner replied very quickly. I had the following installed: Bottom Bracket Rear Derailleur Front Derailleur Cassette Chain Suspension Fork Front & Rear Hubs (requires Spokes to be redone) It took two days to get it back and I saved at least $80 compared to other bikes shops prices. It also included a free wash which was much needed on my bike. The mechanic was friendly and asked about my mountain biking experience and seemed genuinely interested. They asked me to ride the bike out front to make sure everything was to my liking. I appreciated that. The place is friendly and cost effective for me. I'd come back for my service needs. read more
