I had a bike fitting with Jozsef. He was AWESOME. Listened to my goals and issues, analyzed my setup, and made fantastic changes to my position, seat height, and cleat position. My Achilles tightness has disappeared and I've gained 20 watts in my power output. HIGHLY recommend Jozsef for your bike fit needs. I'm not an avid cyclist I'm just an old woman who needed a bike for transportation purposes to and from work. These people treated me with the utmost of respect regardless of whether or not I bought my bike at target. They were kind they were respectful neighbor carrying and the cost was very modest. I did have other bikes serviced at this location to donate to Saint Vincent de Paul and they were again the best most caring most respectful group of individuals. And that's what brought me back to this location for them to put together my bite that came in a Box from target. Look no further then bicycle ranch. read more

Don't bother the employees at this shop. There are so many options when it comes to a bike shop. This shop does nothing to make me come back. Their service is OK. Their customer service is awful. Please, spend your time, energy and money elsewhere. The selection of bikes and parts is mediocre. I watched two employees casually talking down to a customer and another accidentally hit him with a bike, saw that they did it, and just kept walking. I have been to nearly every shop in the valley, totally free ones to the super high end, I've worked in a bike shop, have friends that work in shops. This one just sucks. read more

Made the decision today to NEVER return here. Regret purchasing my son's bike here. Their commitment to service is poor. They don't do what they say they will do. First Issue I got a quote on a tune up and went with a Groupon to cut the cost. Five days later and just before I am to pick up the bike, a technician calls and finds a way to double my cost. The bike had already been looked at for a quote when I brought it in. Because of the days, I'm stuck with the cost of a 25 dollar Groupon at a place I'll never patronize again. Second Issue Brought my son's '20 Trek in with a simple flat tire. Front tire had gone full flat quickly so I thought it would get it fixed well. Paid for the tube, slime and installation. Took it home and next day it was full flat again. I took it back 4 days later and the same technician found the same puncture in the same place - this time finding the tire puncture and staple. My son had not rode on the bike since i brought it back 4 days before. Nonetheless, refused to stand by their work and wanted to charge me to make it right. Disgraceful. read more

I just called to buy a bike from them because I wanted to spend my money locally during this crazy time. I was shocked at how poor their customer service is. 1st I was hung up on 3 times in a row. Once someone answered, he asked what bike I was looking for. I didn't even get to tell him what size before he rudely said "sorry we just sold it" and hung up on me. I called back and got the manager and he was surprisingly just as rude and unhelpful when he told me that they actually still have 2 in stock. Then tells me he is too busy to be on the phone. Made it an easy choice to pick another bike store to give my money. Pretty sad customer service. read more

My wife bought her Trek Fuel EX mountain bike, and Cannondale Road and Cyclocross bikes from them as well. Recently got my mountain bike serviced and it's running "Like New" again! Called the shop to ask if they transport bikes between store locations since I live three and a half hours from Phoenix and only an hour and a half from Tucson. He was quick to ask what bike I was looking for and before I even finished telling him the size or color I wanted, he interrupted me to tell me that it wouldn't be available for another two months. I did not feel as though I was taking much of his time as I got straight to the point but I'm confused as to why he seemed to be so annoyed/short with someone who's wanting to do easy business. Also, it seems that he would offer to take down my information so that they could give me a call when they got the bike back in stock. I will be taking my business elsewhere to avoid future conflict with whoever this person was. read more

I just recently moved to Scottsdale from Lithuania and was looking for 2 road bikes (for me and my wife). I am so glad I've found Bicycle Ranch. People know their job and seems they love it very much. So we got brand new TREK Emonda's (2pcs.) with a professional body geometry fitting and great service. And we were told to come back after some mileage ridden to adjust all the components with no extra payment. 2.75 stars for now... I only meant to look around, but I ended up test-driving an x-small women's Giant Tempt. Don't know which model, since BRR rep Cliff (that name doesn't ring a bell, but for some reason, that's what my mind came up with, ha!) didn't say, but I do recall him saying that it had three gears in the front and 8 gears in the back. I didn't like the price tag, since I know never to pay retail prices for most things (OK, everything, but haggling for everything is frowned upon everywhere but auto sales lots in the States, and I'm thinking in Scottsdale, particularly so...), and something tells me there were major sales going on for Christmas- darn! I asked if I could test-drive it, and he surprised me by saying yes, "out in the back." Made me put on a helmet, too. No worries- Murphy's law, I understand. I'd like to go back and be able to look around longer and ask more questions. It's been decades since I owned a bike, and I've never bought a bicycle for myself, so I need to do major canvas-shopping! Oh, Bicycle Ranch -- where should I begin? I'll start with the facts. 4 days ago: After a few weeks of research and saving my money, I bought a new bike to commute to work. 1 day ago, I took new bike to this place because it came highly reviewed, it was close, and I was having issues with my rear derailleur when commuting. Taking my bike to the mechanics there results in an immediate insult to my choice of bike ("Schwinn just doesn't make bikes like they used to"). I decide this might be some passing snobbery or a knee-jerk reaction to bikes not purchased there. If they do a good job I suppose it's excusable. I decide to leave the bike there. The mechanic says I can pick it up around 5:00pm or so. Halfway through the day, I get a phone call from the mechanic. He says the tension pulley is defective and suggests I take my new bike back to the store. A few minutes later he calls me again to tell me the problem is 'fixed, but he wants me to keep an eye on it -- and I can come pick it up' (is this so he can actually charge me some money?). I pick it up, get insulted one more time ("Where did you buy this bike? Toy-R-Us?"), pay $40, walk out, and I'm immediately able to reproduce the same problem. In (previous reviewer) Sarah's defense: It appears that ownership of this store changed in August 2008. This is clearly posted at the entrance to the repair shop in the rear of the store. Whatever awesome sauce this place had previously has been replaced by epic failure. Now for the review part: Clearly, you have rehearsed your insults, Bicycle Ranch. They were brief, to the point, and delivered with a polished arrogance. You get a star for this. Catering to the super-rich set in Scottsdale is brilliant. Positioning your store directly to the left of a 'Target' seems like an odd choice of location though. -1 star. Your service needs a bit of help. $40 for some wonderfully delivered insults is one thing, but $40 for some insults + a bike that still has the same problems as when I brought it in is just sloppy. -2 stars. Not having any bikes in the store that I would be interested in (or could purchase for under $500): -1 star. End result: Fail. Verdict? Patronize one of the 4 other bike shops within a half mile of this place. You'll get better service, much fewer insults, and at a fraction of the cost. The new ownership of this place needs to shape up or leave. read more

My brother ordered me a Cannondale bike for Christmas and had it sent to the Bicycle Ranch to be put together, because they didn't have it in any stores down in AZ yet. I called them the day it was delivered because I was so excited, and they put me on the list to have my bike done first :) 4 hours later I walked in and saw my stellar looking new bike ready to go in the back of the room. They saw my gawking and the guy at the front says, you must be Lisa...He walked me over and showed me the ropes on my SWEET new ride! The mechanic also said hi and told me about my cool bike! They equiped me with some new equipment I needed and away I went. I will be back at the Bicycle Ranch for my 90 day check-up/tune-up. I went back once more for a new lock (since my last one was broken when my old bike was stolen :( Again, the service was quick and to the point. They also have 'meet-up' rides that leave from the shop; you can find the schedule on their website. I have never gone, but I thought that was pretty cool. If you are looking for a new bike, they can definitely help steer you in the right direction, and the service was great for my pre-ordered bike :) read more

Since these guys were too busy to install a simple bike rack on the new bike I bought from them, the next day I rode the bike to a different shop to get a rack. On the way, which was first ride on the new bike, the gears were slipping badly. The second shop promptly sold me and installed the rake and adjusted the derailleurs. Pretty annoying that the Bicycle Ranch guys couldn't be bothered to check the derailleurs on a new bike before a customer leaves. read more

Only 3 stars for customer service from the "younger" guy (will be referred to as HOMESLICE), the gentleman with an accent seemed kind and knowledgeable.] I stopped by this bike shop to buy a present, and Homeslice was about as helpful as SAND, with a personality to match. I went 0 for 3 with my charm, witty banter & sparkling smile, Homeslice acted like he had won the Tour de France (twice) & couldn't be bothered with breathing the same air as me. I understand that I wasn't buying a bike, which I'm sure he's much more passionate about than SOCKS. However, his customer service does not make me want to buy a bike from him, nor refer my bicycling friends to this shop, one of which enters countless races & does buy a ton of gear. I ended up with the perfect present, no thanks to Homeslice, I'm happy with my purchase. Lots of cool looking bikes, I'm sure their pedals are top notch. Hopefully Homeslice will gain a personality, customer service skills, and loses the ego. Or maybe he wont have to go through any personal growth if the Accent Man fires him. read more

Hands down best bike shop in Arizona. Markus & his staff are very knowledgeable & helpful. I love to ride both Road & Mtn bikes and want them to run perfectly when I get out to ride. So I bring them to BR & they always run like new. Last week my road bike had a creak in the front end so I drop it off at the shop & I picked it up a day later with no creak. Perfect! Been in a number of times. Customer service has been pretty lacking. Not bad, just not there. Today I went in with my bike looking for some help with bike/saddle fitting issues and had to go all the way to the back of the store before the mechanic working even looked up and acknowledged me. Told him what was going on and was taken by what what came across as a pretty inexperienced younger man up to a display with seats. I asked about sizing and other details and was told the best thing to do would be get a full bike fitting for about $100 and the fitter would be able to explain everything for me. But he's out of the country. No other suggestions, no questions, just a blank stare and attempted upsell handoff that actually isn't available. So, I go in looking for advice, to purchase at the very least a new saddle, and if my bike is just the wrong for for my body - a new bike. I've been on the same bike dealing with the same issues for over 10 years. If I need to upgrade I'm ready and willing to upgrade. But it won't be with Bicycle Ranch. read more

One of the bicycle mechanics told me and my husband to "F*** OFF" after we spent $140 to fix some items on our bike, and we left with our kickstand not working. It wasn't the fact that the employee was disrespectful, it was that the owner( older bald guy) didn't apologize. The disgruntled employee said it right in front of the owner, and the owner just walked away with the employee. I was a frequent customer, but obviously will be taking my other bikes elsewhere. read more

I went here last Saturday to kill some time as my wife shopped elsewhere. I love bikes and just bought a new Trek (Their house brand) earlier this year. There was maybe 1-2 other customers in there. I circumnavigated the entire shop, then sat down and began looking at their brochures (Total time, maybe 20 mins). No once did anyone ask: Can I help you? How's it going? or any other greeting. Very nice bike shop with helpful and knowledgable staff. Family owned and it shows in the service. I bought my first bike last month and got a custom fitting from Chris--apparently he is so skilled at fittings that people fly in to have him do it for them. I've come back in a few times for gear and the staff is very friendly. I won't name names but there are several bike shops in the area that won't give you the time of day if you aren't buying a $10K bike. Bicycle Ranch is not that kind of shop. As with anything, you should go check it out for yourself. I bet you won't be disappointed. read more

I think it may be a little intimidating to the non-riders, however the people that work there are extremely friendly and helpful so don't be afraid to ask! Store is a mad house. They lost my bike. I found it. They proceeded to tell me it wasn't my bike. Then called me a b*tch. Then tried to refuse to give me my bike back all because they messed up writing the ticket (which is how they keep track of bikes) I talked with the owner who told me he will backup his employees no matter what. This is sad I love to support small and locally owned businesses however the service I received was very threatening and aggressive. Employees are sure used to being in Scottsdale Arizona.. anywhere else and you call someone a b*itch you definitely don't give them your money and walk away.. definitely don't recommend.
