I can't imagine doing business with any other bicycle store, other than Bicycle Ranch! Prior to buying my bike I asked around and I was surprised when multiple friends referred me to the same place, Bicycle Ranch. To my surprise, and unbeknownst to me, my wife had been shopping here for years... I purchased my bike new, spent much less than anticipated, including the cost of a ton of accessories and riding gear. Given I hadn't rode since I was a kid, I must have asked every dumb question imaginable. That being said, I found the owner and the staff to be exceptionally helpful, and to my surprised no one laughed at my questions... Whew... After Mountain Biking today I had an issue with my front brakes. A quick stop at the Bicycle Ranch was all it took for a fast and convenient fix. I took my bike in on Saturday to have a tire repaired and a new battery put into the bike computer. I expected to have to leave the bike and pick it up in a couple of days because Saturdays are typically very busy for bike shops. But I was told to hang around and the whole job would be done in about 20 minutes. And sure enough, 20 minutes later I was on my way out the door after paying the bill which I was sure was in error because it was so inexpensive. The clerk double checked the bill and said it was right but joked that he could increase it if I thought it was too low :) :) I love the Bicycle Ranch and have always been very satisfied whenever I go there to shop or for repairs. read more

I am mortified to say the least! I try to support local small businesses as much as possible! However, I JUST got off the phone with this store. I was recommended here by another friend who has children my son's age. A week ago, I first tried to contact this store due to my 11 yr old outgrowing his bicycle's at the rate of approximately one per year (give or take) and we promised him one for his birthday. I would like to make sure we buy the correct size so I first called the store a week ago and received voicemail. I could not leave a message due to "the voicemail box being full." On the website it states you need to "schedule an appointment for a fitting" so I filled out the form for my son to have a "fitting" not having any idea this did not mean to measure him and get fitted for the correct size bicycle. I waited a week with no response after a week, I called again this afternoon. Apparently I interrupted the guy working there by calling! I was treated so rudely over the phone! The guy (sounded older) literally yelled at me, interrupting me and not allowing me to fully complete any question. When I simply said, " I went to the website and filled out..." he interrupted me, became irate and literally yelled at me saying, "you shouldn't have filled out the form, you don't need a fitting, you need something else (like I should know this AND he never did tell me what I needed) when he stopped yelling, he huffed like I was a "bother" because I was trying to spend money in his shop and with a flippant attitude instructed me to just "bring your kid in sometime!" When I again tried to ask about the online form I filled out he interrupted me and yelled , "most likely no one even read your email!" (His attitude was like, your just a stupid mom and aren't going to spend enough money for me to waste my time and breath on!) Needless to say, I WON'T be stepping foot in this place after the way I was treated! Also, I would NEVER take my 11 yr old in and allow this rude, rude man to also treat him like dirt! This guy got so ugly (and loud) simply by a phone call that I am thinking maybe dealing with the public isn't the best fit for him! It's disgusting how trying to support local small businesses can bite you on the backside and almost make you feel forced to go to large chain stores just to be treated with a little respect even if you have to sacrifice keeping the small businesses alive. Apparently this store could care less! 10/17:2017 UPDATE: After posting this review, I also posted on their Facebook page. I received no response from anyone from the store, (until today...7 months later!) however, I did receive a private message regarding the nastiness of this person to other people as well. My first time in the store was the worst experience. Just left the store with no purchase. My best friend is in town. Brought her in as her daughter turns six next week and we wanted to surprise her with a Trek Bike. A beautiful pink one was in the window so we stopped in to check it out. A older gentleman wakes up mid into our conversation to talk to us about the bike. My best friend mentioned she was visiting from town. He asked her where she was from and she mentioned Dallas. Then he ask her where the child lived we were talking about she said with her in Dallas. He rudely says well your better off buying it Dallas then walks away. In shock we both look at each other as we could not believe a sales person who does not even greet you when you walk in the door. Only to rub you the wrong way. See what this salesmen did not know was this little girl we were discussing is my God Daughter. I needed to buy her a birthday gift something tangible when she comes out here. That pink Trek bike would have been his next purchase along with the bike I had planned to buy for myself but could not even make it to the back of the store as we both walked out. The store just lost two bike purchases today as I'm taking my business somewhere else. Even if we had come to the store to browse you don't treat customers like this. I walked in this store around 10:30am with no customers to be seen. Went to the service desk to get a new tube put in and the techs were chatting with each other for about 2-3 minutes. Didn't acknowledge me or even look at me. One of the techs walked by and stopped. Then, started txting for about 2-3 minutes. Still no acknowledgement. I turned and walked out of store and let the front cashier person know they lost my business FOREVER. What a joke! I spent 3k on a bike there to be ignored. Drove over to Landis and was greeted at the door and had a tube installed and chased out in 5 minutes. Beware of the service with bicycle ranch if your going to buy a bike there. read more

I brought my bike in for three issues. One, the rear shock needed to be rebuilt. Two, my brakes weren't working well. Three, I needed a tuneup. When I went to pick up my bike, the brakes hasn't even been touched. They made a quick adjustment while I was in the store, but it was frustrating that I had to even ask. The total bill was $275. When I got home with the bike, I realized that the rear shock had not been pressurized. I had to bring it back to the store, and when I expressed my frustrations about having to come back, I was met with blank stares. I literally said that I was having a two-star Yelp experience. No reaction. I had to expressly say that I think it would be appropriate that I receive an apology since this wasn't handled well. The guy finally relented and said I'm sorry. My 2015 Wilier GTS disc had a shimano warranty issue with the brake hoods. Basically shimano was being very difficult and I needed a bike shop to do the warranty. Bicycle Ranch had to completely dis-assemble my Hydraulic "internal routed" system just to replace the Hoods. They went above and beyond on a warranty that was shimano's "fault". They took the time to do the repair correctly and they won me over. I will be returning for any future repairs that I can't handle or don't want to spend my time doing. read more

Two weeks ago I got a chain installed on my bmx bike. I provided a high quality chain, he added a half link to it. Within 5 minutes my chain broke and hurt both of my wrists, fractured my right wrist. Definitely bring your bike to someone who can install a chain correctly since the chain snapped at the half link. They were friendly but having to take 45 minutes to install a chain which ended in failure. Hopefully someone reaches out to me and will reimburse me for my brand new broken sprocket, frame and my inconvenience for having two injured wrists. read more

I have a desire to support BR since I've ridden with their groups in the past. However, Every time I go in the store I'm greeted (if you can call it) by the rude and brash talking Cliff out front. He wouldn't know how to serve a customer if it bit him on the a _ _. During the pandemic when they were letting only two in the store at a time I was standing as the next person to enter when the phone rang. cliff answered it. After what seemed to be a short comment by the caller Cliff says "you'll need to just bring your bike in. I don't have time to talk. We are swamped." How are you swamped Cliff with two people in the store. I laughed in disgust and think to myself this store would do much better without him and have someone that actually is friendly and knows how to treat a potentially paying customer. The owners must owe him something big to keep him on in their employ for the amount of business he turns away. read more

Took my sons bike in to have the chain repaired. The employees were all very friendly and fixed the chain, pumped up the tires and made sure everything was in proper order for free! Highly recommend this bike shop. read more

I had a great experience at the Bicycle Ranch. I needed a bike shop, near where I live, to do a tune-up, so I stopped into the Bicycle Ranch. The gentleman at the front counter sent me to the repair area in the back where I was greeted immediately by Patrick. Patrick invited me into the repair area and immediately put my bike on a rack and gave it a quick once-over. He told me that I did not, yet, need to spend the money on a brake service for my hydraulic bakes, and recommended the basic tune-up at this time. I was impressed that they did not try to upsell me the most expensive packages, but instead recommended only what I needed, even when I was expecting to spend more. The entire time Patrick was talking with me about my bike along with the other two gentlemen in the room, Adam and Rob, whom were also working on bikes. All three of them were giving me advice and feedback regarding my bike and new technology and they made some recommendation to me for performing my own field maintenance if necessary. I was very pleased with the service and professionalism in the store and with the honest recommendations and I would recommend the Bicycle Ranch to my friends. read more

COMPLAINT: It feels like if you know the people that work there and they know you, they are nice and helpful to you. If you don't know them, they are not friendly and usually don't say anything to you. Mind you, they're not mean or nasty, just unocomopdating. It's like being in a club of members and you feel like you walked in as an outsider. I've walked in, browsed the store and left without anyone saying one word to me 3 different times. Is it that hard to be friendly and helpful?? PROBLEM: I brought by Cannondale to them to fix an issue I was having. Upon returning to pick up the bike I realized they had cleaned and adjust some things for free to see if that fixed the issue first at no cost. That was a pleasant surprise. I took it out back and tried it and it was still having the same issue. Granted, this issue is like a gremlin and they did spend another hour on it trying to find the problem through educated elimination of possibilities and only charged me $30. That was good. But when they test rode it in front of me the technician broke the chain. He was visibly upset and stated it was going to come out of his paycheck. He hastily, but skillfully, put A NEW chain on. I had just upgraded to a new chain 1 month ago. They said I was NOT going to have to pay for it. They continued to work on it, but were not able to fix the issue and suggested I either leave it with them or try a few things on my own to find where the problem was located to save me money. Another plus. BUT, when I went to pay for it, they charged me for a new chain. When I said, "So, I'm paying for the chain you broke?" They simply said, "yes." No explanation. I'm not very confrontative, but I will only bring my bike back to them if I have no other alternative. I give them 5 stars for mechanical know how, but only 1 for honesty and none for friendliness (an issue I could look past if it weren't for their dishonesty). read more

Bad Attitude.....don't understand how to treat a customer. Purchased a new Trek for my 15 year old, within two weeks we severely damaged the bike ( came off our rack on highway) and we brought the bike back to them to see if they could repair, or to purchase another one. All they wanted to do was get rid of us, told us our VISA would cover the damage and they would then order us a new bike. Wrong. I contacted VISA, and most banks don't offer coverage for a Bike that is damaged by the owner. Another rep in the store told me my Auto insurance would cover the bike...WRONG. That was on top of laughing that they bike was only a lower-end Trek. They would not even look at my bike for repairs, were only interested in getting me out of the door quickly and order a new one with non-existent insurance money. I took the bike to Landis Cyclery in Scottsdale. They were empathetic about damaging a new bike, put the bike on their repair rack, and immediately determined that the frame was straight and all the bike needed was new wheels and seat. This just topped off the day when I came in earlier to Bicycle Ranch and purchased some Pedal Grips, only to have the rep tell me Pedal Grips were a disaster and really "old school" even though they sell them) If you don't sleep with Lycra on, want quality service and treated decently - stay away. I have written I believe one review in my life, but Bicycle Ranch's terrible treatment warranted this post. read more

Unless you plan on buying a $5000.00 bike or need to overpay for a small selection of limited products, don't bother coming here. My first experience with BR was several years ago when I decided to get into the sport of cycling. I went to this local bike shop to get some advice on what kind of bike I should get. As soon as the guy heard me say I had a sub-$1000 budget, I was treated like a 2nd class citizen. I promptly left My second experience came this past fall when I was suckered into buying a groupon for a $25 tune-up special. Within 2 minutes of calling the shop to set up an appointment, I was told I would probably need an upgraded tune-up that would cost extra. Really? You haven't even seen my bike yet and I didn't mention any malfunctioning components. When I drop off my bike, the mechanic spends about 5 minutes looking it over and tells me that I'll need a new chain and a new rear cassette. I tell him to do the tune-up, replace the chain and that's it. No mention of the upgraded tune-up at this point. When I return to pick my bike up, I'm handed a invoice for the new chain and of course $50 more for the upgraded tune-up. After I pointed out that I never agreed to an upgraded tune-up, the mechanic asked his boss how to "correct this guy's mistake". I promptly pointed out that the mistake was his and I refused to pay for anything I didn't authorize. I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DIME IN THIS PLACE! read more

I am an avid road cyclist and had a bike fitting done by Ron at Bicycle Ranch. I am extremely happy with both the process, and the results. I purchased my bike out of state, and had already gone through a professional fitting. But I was having some lingering issues which seemed fit-related and I hoped BR could help. I went to the Bicycle Ranch website to schedule my appointment and I received a follow up email within a few hours. I was able to get in with Ron within just a few days, and on a weekend. I had expected to wait for weeks, and possibly take time off work! Call me pleasantly surprised! Ron sent me a questionnaire in advance of my appointment to get information about my bike, my goals, style of riding, and the issues I was experiencing. My primary reasons for the fitting were searing shoulder pain during rides exceeding 40 miles and intermittent foot numbness. At my appointment, Ron spent a significant amount of time measuring the bike, me, watching my form on the bike, and discussing the details of my pain. The assessment was quite thorough and I never felt rushed. Ron was able to assess and diagnose the cause of my pain and made some subtle adjustments which significantly improved my comfort on the bike. As an athlete himself, Ron has an intuitive ability to look at a person's body, and assess where and what the issues are -- and most importantly, how to solve them. I highly recommend Ron and now look forward to many pain-free miles on my bike because of his expertise. read more

We bought three kids bikes about 3 yrs ago at this store and had a great experience. Very informative, friendly and helpful people. So we decided to give them our business again this time when we needed to get the kids new bikes. Wow, what a difference a few years makes. The staff this time was rude, unhelpful and ignored us. Even after we mentioned the reason we came back was because of the great service, they were still indifferent. We bought the bikes anyway thinking it was just an aberration from their normally great service. Went in to buy a road bike. My first road bike. Have been riding mountain bikes. Said I wanted to stay at about $1,000.00. The staff member was such a jerk about that to begin with. Rather than get me into a bike to start with he just said I would be wasting my money and would be getting rid of it soon and wouldn't be able to get my money out of it. Then said, "I really don't work out here anyway, I work in the back." I guess he works on the bikes, not in sales. That's good. Customer service is just about the worst I've experienced. I can echo some other reviews of the feeling of being insulted by the staff or being treated like a simpleton. I think the bottom line is this: If you are passionate about road biking and believe that tight shorts, flashy shirts, clips, dedicated gps, etc. have a direct impact on enjoyment...then Bicycle ranch is great for you. Bonus points if you know the particulars of bike culture. If you are passionate about fun & exercise and can acknowledge other people who are enjoying themselves (be it hiking, walking or whatever) without a scowl...then just stay away from the ranch. For some reason they think we suck. Note to Bicycle Ranch management if you read this. I live next door...it would be so nice if I could give you my money. I know you are more competent and have more of the stuff I need (even my bike guy admits this much). I am in the health care business and have encouraged numerous clients to pursue biking...and I have had to tell them to stay away from you. (Sent in one client...they too were made to feel like an idiot for not knowing everything.) We are local people with $ to spend. May I suggest separating the guys in back (who know their stuff) and putting people up front who understand social interaction. read more

The place to buy a bicycle. If you tune into the Tour de France, this is your store. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional. You can have a custom bike made from scratch or buy something in stock and by they time they get done with a professional bike fitting session, you will feel like it was custom made for you. I wasted too much time being uncomfortable on a bike. I finally went in for a bike fit. All it took was a new seat and a few minor adjustments to completely change my relationship with the bike. read more

Bicycle Ranch is my favorite shop. Saturday morning rides are great - challenging but fun, and followed by bagels and coffee in the shop afterward. They've got the latest & greatest merchandise and really know bikes. They're buliding a cycling community in that quadrant of the city that didn't exist before and I'm thankful to have a welcoming shop to hang out at, whether I buy something or not. If you want to talk cycling, they're your peeps. If you need your bike fixed, they're even better. I just purchased a new full suspension mountain bike and it came with a dropper post. The dropper post was rising slower than molasses and took all of my body weight to push down when the lever was being pushed so I know this is not right. This is my first dropper post so it is new to me but I have done my research and have test ridden the exact bike I have so I know how it should work. I installed everything else on the bike and it was all working except the post. I went on YouTube and Googled the issue to try and resolve it, I tried for over 2 hours to pump the post with the correct PSI and adjust the cable but no luck. I wrote to the bike company and they told me to file the warranty and take it into my local bike shop. I live in Happy Valley but work in Scottsdale so I was trying to call a few bike shops in the area and ask if they can assist and have they worked with the bike companies warranty program before. A few shops either never answered their phone or told me I should just pay for the repair instead of the warranty but when you just paid a pretty penny for a new full suspension bike you want it to work correctly. I called Bicycle Ranch Scottsdale and they told me yes they can fix it and just to bring it in. I loaded the bike up and took it to the shop this afternoon around noon. I walked right in and was welcomed, multiple mechanics were eager to assist me. The head mechanic came out and said he was the one that spoke to me the other day. He asked what is the issue now that he could examine the bike and I explained it. He thought it was a simple cable tightening or something similar to that so he said to give him about 10 minutes and he will look it over. I walked around the shop looking at all of the amazing bikes and products they have. Less than 10 minutes later he said ok all done. He explained he snipped the cable and tightened it and it was working 100%. I tried it multiple times right there in the store and yup it was working as advertised. Bicycle Ranch Scottsdale has earned my trust and is my Go-To bike shop for repairs and parts. Thank you again for a great experience! read more

I have to say that I was impressed with the selection of products, knowledgeable staff and most of all the great work they performed on our two road bikes and one hybrid. One of the gear shifts quit working on my 20 year old bicycle. So I took it in and was expecting some parts were going to need to be replace and it would cost something significant. But the bicycle technician was able to explain it was because the lubricant inside the gear shift had hardened with time and needed to be cleaned out and replaced. He did this and about 5 minutes later my bicycle was working again and it only cost $20. Then I went home and got my wife's bike that had the same problem. He fixed that one also. I was very pleased. Two years ago I had my 20 year old bicycle completely refurbished by them. Very pleased then. read more
