    Caesar Salad
    Lydia A.

How did I forget to photograph my pizza? Well... they had pizza by the slice and it was so delicious we had inhaled it all before I could even document it. It was square pizza on a crust that was fluffy yet crunchy. I'm not a big fan or crust so when I eat it all, that means it was delicious. I think I would have eaten it without toppings! My favorite was a honey pistachio piece and my daughter's favorite was the pepperoni on vodka sauce which had such a bright zingy tomato flavor I'm now wondering if that should be my favorite too. We also enjoyed a potato with garlic sauce which had a nice smoky flavor. Their Caesar salad was a good portion size with a nice blanket of good Parmesan cheese and a lemon forward flavor we liked. Service was attentive but never pushy. The place had a "pub" feel where people seem to be happy to be working there and knew some of the patrons. Good energy. At the end, one of the chefs gave us a taste of some pastrami he was working on. Now I'll have to plan a return visit to order it because it was sooooo good. Will it end up on a pizza? One can hope. Bathrooms were clean and nicely decorated.

Coming from the Bay Area it's hard to find a good sandwich in this town. Really amazing bread (fresh custardy torpedo hoagie baguette roll) ranch and fried chicken with thick slab bacon. Great!! Friendly staff. Nice folks. Thanks.

This place is the best. I love caesar salad, and I try caesar salad everywhere I go that has one. this place has the best caesar I've ever had. The pizza is great too, and the appetizers are all fantastic as well. They always have specials, with local, in-season ingredients and I've never been disappointed. It is pretty small inside, so I recommend making reservations unless you want to sit at the bar. Fast service too

We had dinner here during the festive mayhem of Cornish Christmas on a Friday evening. It was welcoming and (literally) warm inside. We shared the evening's "special" small plate of spicy roasted cauliflower--so delicious!--and a pizza that was excellent; we had food leftover to take away. We received terrific service seated at the bar. There are tables in the back to accommodate large groups. A thing that I noticed and really appreciated is that, although it's a fairly small place, the bar stools are not bolted to the ground, allowing for easier maneuvering and the tables are spaced a comfortable distance apart. Small but thoughtful details in an establishment.

Popped in at around 4pm and was delighted by the retro cool ambiance, friendly staff and absolutely fire pizza. The drinks they have on tap are a wide selection and on the drier side not so sweet which I loved. The whole restaurant screams laid back and super hip, from the funky lighting accents to the records and posters that line the wall, hats off to whoever designed this warm, approachable yet creative and unique interior. We got the pizza with pepperoni and it was delicious- perfectly charred thin crust, lots of topping, passed the fold test (did not sag). Also got the pickle platter appetizer with tangy yummy veggies all pickled it was refreshing and delish! Loved eating dinner at bicycle thief!

The ambiance, retro 70s/80s/90s, is superb & the servers are excellent. The gluten free pizza, which isn't easy to make, had a great crust & cheesy toppings, but not enough, skimping on ingredients for which, the diner paid extra. So it was $27 for the sauce less pizza with lemon/ricotta, plus $3.00 to get it gluten free, $2.00 for mushrooms, plus tip & you see how it was a $35 pizza. Good ingredients are expensive these days - but we are talking about a place in Grass Valley (it's not Oakland or SF, my friends)!

I posted a crunchy pizza challenge on the Nextdoor app in my community and someone mentioned Bicycle Thief. Not quite the name I would expect for a pizza place, but Yelp reviews and photos were good. We decided to drive up from Roseville to check it out. Once we arrived on Main St. we realized we've definitely been in the area. We visit both Grass Valley and Nevada City often. We visited on a Sunday just after lunchtime. Walking in you get to see the pizza's almost immediately. The lunch crowd was leaving so we got seated right away. The staff very friendly and we got to visually see the actual slices of pizza. The entire vibe in there was good--especially the music coming from the turntables. Pure nostalgia and super cool! The pizza was simply amazing! It took a little longer than expected but we were not in a rush. The wait was worth it. We ordered a second slice. There's much more to this place and apparently the dinner menu is bigger. We did have the hazelnut ice cream. Creamy delicious goodness. We will be returning in two weeks. If you're looking for something different, go check it out. You'll really enjoy it.

Ask the Community - Bicycle Thief

Do you offer gluten free crust options for the pizza?

    Yes we do!

Hello there, I would love to try your restaurant but I am eating ketogenic... by any chance do you offer a cauliflower crust?…

We do not offer cauliflower crust unfortunately. Our meatballs would likely be the best option for you. We also have a cabbage dish that’s served with an almond sauce that might be keto friendly and our Caesar salad with pistachio should be low…

Do they take reservations? I can't find a phone number for them?

We do take reservations and we don’t have a phone. If you search for us on Google there should be a reservation button

    Is this restaurant dog friendly?

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate dogs unless they’re service animals

We called right away, and while the employee apologized and admitted it was their mistake, the only solution offered was to "take it off the bill." That doesn't really help when you've already driven 30 minutes home and now have an incomplete meal. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Offering a refund doesn't fix the inconvenience, the time lost, or the fact that part of our dinner was missing. A better effort to make it right would have gone a long way. We didn't just lose money...We lost time, convenience, and part of your meal. A manager should have gotten on the phone and said something like, 'I'm really sorry, we messed up. Let me fix this for you.' A sincere effort to problem-solve, not just a refund. Really hoping more attention is paid to orders moving forward.

We ordered a house sausage pizza and to add the salami to the pizza which was a great choice loved the pizza we watched it get made right in front of us and their bacon and cheddar melt. I personally though the bacon and cheddar melt was fine I probably wouldn't order it again looking back on it just simply on the fact it was $21 and the pizza was $23 it just felt very boring and overpriced in comparison to the pizza. I do love the sustainability of this place but find it odd the water cups are plastic after all the effort put into reusable, sustainable, organic, and farm fresh It definitely eat here again especially with the fact the menu is always changing the pastries here were a hit every other table had something from the bakery or a pizza. I paid because I only had an hour for lunch and needed to eat. I got my mocha and sat down to wait for my sandwich. As I waited, I noticed several people who ordered after me receiving their food while I was still sitting there. About 15 minutes later, I finally received my to-go sandwich. When I opened the container, it was obvious it had been sitting there for a while. The sandwich was sweaty, and half of it was soggy. Apparently, they had forgotten to bring it to me. By that point, my mocha was already gone before I had even started eating. The BLT itself was made on regular-sized sandwich bread, and the tomatoes and bacon were good. But $34 for a basic BLT and a small iced mocha is outrageous, especially considering the wait and the condition of the sandwich when I finally received it. I will not be going back. The prices are simply far too high for what you get.
