I just walked out of this store right now and I'm writing this in their parking lot. I usually like coming to local stores like this instead of buying things online simply because I don't want another physical store like this to close and I feel like I'm doing my part in keeping them open by supporting them. However, today, everyone in this store needs to be aware of their customers. As I walked in with my little boy, I greeted the girl wearing black on the register and she ignored me, completely oblivious of us walking in. Thinking she didn't hear me, I said good morning once again but she still ignored me. We walked around the store and got what we needed. When we're paying, a girl named VIOLET just scanned the product and took my payment. She was totally immersed with her conversation to that same girl in black clothes. Neither one of the girls acknowledged us. My son even got the girl in black's attention when he returned a toy that was removed out of its package by someone else. She said thank you to my son but went right back to her conversation with Violet. After we paid, no thank you, no nothing. Absolutely abhorrent customer service. I've been coming to this store for many years. I used to get my ammos here. I used to get shoes here. I got my son's first baseball gear here. I got footballs here. I hate to say that this is the last time I'm ever coming here. read more

A word of advise for this store if you know your protocol on picking up firearms you should take the time to make all your associates aware of this protocol. Our closests store would be Downey but unfortunately they don't have the license to sell firearms and they sent us to the Cerritos store. My fiancé was told he can pick up his item today after 2 pm. Today we reach out to the store at about 2:30 pm to confirm this information and we were told all we needed was our receipt and an I.D. Well here I am upset, because we show up at 6:30 pm to the surprise that there have to be two managers on the floor! I am all for safety and following protocol but what I don't like is the lack of communication with management and associates. read more

By far the worst customer service of all Big 5 Sporting Goods I've been to. These people are completely incompetent. I had to talk to four separate people after waiting for 25 minutes and they still couldn't help me. Definitely go to a different Big 5, not this one. Anything but this one. Big 5 is an easy access store. You come in get what you need and go. It is what it is, I guess It will also reflect on their customer service. Not everyone but one, two or three employees at the same time can affect bad business and not excellent customer service. This location is pretty small but sometimes you can find good deals here. I recently went looking for snowboarding gear but the selection was very limited. I was actually pretty excited about today. I had previously visited this location for some golf needs and the associate who helped me was great. Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. So much so, that I decided to schedule an appointment for a full fitting. The only downfall was that I had to schedule it for a week and a half from that time. They took all my information including my phone number so they can call in case the appointment needed to be re-scheduled. Here I am, Friday morning at Dick's after a 45 minute drive to get here and the golf section is a ghost town. I press the assistance button and someone shows up. I tell him I had an appointment for a fitting at 10 am. He asks "with Tom?" I reply "yes" and he says in a Bill Lumberg voice (Office Space), "yeaaaah, Tom called off and we have no one to replace him. Our next associate will be in at 6:30, I'll have him give you a call to re-schedule for another time." Not even an apology! Are you kidding me?! Not only am I not going to pay for a fitting here, or even buy clubs, but this is the point where I decide never to buy anything from Dick's ever again. I don't usually get pissed enough to write a review, but here I am. In my opinion, don't shop at Dick's. They have lost this customer for life. read more

This is located on the same lot as Cerritos Mall, but on the 183rd side. I've driven around a bit and I didn't even realize it was here. It was a bit messy when I came. Maybe they were doing inventory and were still trying to figure out what to do with the old/new stock. I had to go around a few boxes. There were a lot of sales going on for tennis racquets, so I was pretty stoked that I found a tennis racquet for only $21! It was even made cheaper by the 20% coupon I had! Winning! read more

First,I needed help with buying a telescope, and the guys working were pretty helpful! Didn't have much variety to chose from,I didn't like that. But I did like the fact that when I ran across some trouble putting it completely together,I walked back in the store to have someone double-check if I did it right,and the gentlemen in charge that day,Jovani,was beyond helpful! Big 5 is Big 5. Their products are decent, their prices are competitive, they always have a sale, and they have a lot of products. My review will be about the firearms counter. I went to Big 5 the other day to get a case for my newly bought rifle. Being a first time firearms owner, I had some questions not just about proper and recommended storage, but I had some inquiries about maintenance and cleaning of the firearm. A gentleman named Jim assisted me at the counter and he was able to provide me with in-depth information about my rifle (he had the same one also) and helped me by giving me recommendations for cleaning procedures and ranges to go to and other rifle related things. He was so helpful that I actually went back to the store after purchasing my case (I got an awesome case for only $50, by the way) two more times and each time he met me at the counter and was always patient, always helpful, and never annoyed with all of the questions. It made me sad to find out that after Labor Day he will be transferred to the Pico Rivera store, but at the same time I'm glad that he will be able to move up in his job and be able to give other firearms owners a similar experience. Please be aware that their selection of firearms, solvents, eyes and ears, cases, and ammunition are very limited since the People's Republic of California isn't very firearms-friendly. read more

Big 5 is one stop shop for unique, extreme, and unordinary hobbie/adventure(s). I personally shop for home fitness equipment. A small investment for years of continuos use vs the alternative monthly/yearly fee fitness centers charge. So far am glad this store exist.it's putting my hard earned cents to use. read more

As I was looking around at the shoes located in the back of the store, I tripped (very hard) and immediately thought to myself what could it have been since I knew the isle was clear. I saw an electrical plate that was not level/flat on the floor, but raised up. When I tripped I knocked boxes off the shelves (I know it sounds funny) and the noise did bring an employee out from the back to see what happened. I explained what I had tripped over and she didn't seem to concerned, which was the impression I got from her. I found the shoes I wanted, and went up to make my purchase. While the transaction was taking place, I asked the cashier if there was a manager in the store, as I wanted to inform them of the electrically plate that was lifted. She said yes, and motioned toward the manager who was walking up toward us. IT WAS PERSON I ALREADY TOLD!!! She sashayed herself up there and I also told her that I hurt my foot because of this. She barely made eye contact with me, and responded with, "yeah, I'll have one of my guys take a look at it.", while looking somewhere else. She never asked if I was ok, she was just rude and extremely unprofessional. read more

My wife and I went down to grab some cleats for our daughter. We weren't greeted by any associate. At one moment the assistant manager was arguing with another associate about another associate. Anyways my wife and I headed to the shoe department and low and behold the best associate named Andrew was there. I he was extremely helpful, even when we had to switch and try a variety of sizes. Thank you Andrew for being the best worker in the entire store, great customer service, helpfulness and being able to keep up with multiple customers. if it wasn't for him we would have given the store a 1 star. read more

I've been shopping at this location for years. Usually, my experience is average at best. It's go in, get what I need, and get out; no fuss, no muss, nothing special either. But the last time I was there (a few weeks ago) I was assisted by a very friendly and energetic sales clerk. I think his name was Andrew. He was very helpful. HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE! we went in there to return a mountain high pass "4 day tripper" that we were told it can be use more than one person at a time but you can only use it once a day per person. When we tried returning it, we went in and he said "the only thing is we don't know if you used it or not so you would have to call customer service and get it verified that it hasn't been used." I get what he was saying and that wasn't the problem I had, after that I asked if he can just call them and do that, with exact words he replied, "well I can but they will be on lunch at this time" basically he couldn't help us at all. We sat in he car in the parking lot and the called took literally 2 minutes and they said they will call the store to let them know we didn't use the pass. Walked right back in and it was addressed right away. MY PROBLEM IS WHY COULDN'T HE SIMPLY DO THAT FOR US? Waste of our time. No care for customer service. read more

I love the variety of things at this big 5. I've been going here for years but the reason why this review is 3 stars is because the service here wasn't the best I've had when I usually ho here. I wanted to find a knife for my girlfriend and I guess the manager or maybe just a regular employee (white guy, was wearing a purple button up, pretty tall, birth mark near his nose) was helping me. It was fine at first but he made things awkward, when i asked questions about the ones on sale all he could tell me is that "they were cheap." I wanted to compare two knives but he just said the same thing. Then some miscommunication happened because I wanted 2 knives and I asked KINDLY to get the other knife because I clearly asked for both. When I said thank you again, he did not say anything. He honestly made me feel like I was bothering him. I will go back for the good deals but the service was a dissappointing experience. read more

I have been in customer service business for many years and walkinginto this store I would have given them a fail if I was just grading on her service... They got a 2 because of mgr. .. Besides Dicks this is the only sports shop... Left... If I was part of the company I would revamp everything and be the best. Education for employees on how to have amazing customer service... Knowledge of product and merchandise.. If you cant help find someone to help your customers don't leave them hanging! I would have given her a verbal.
