First time visiting this location and I had a great experience. The staff was friendly, helpful, and the service was quick. I was surprised by how much new and used gear they had available. I brought in some equipment to sell, and the quote process was much faster than I expected. While they weren't able to take everything I brought in, they did purchase several items and made the process easy. Overall, it was a positive experience. This is always my go to play it again. Always great customer service and good selection of used sports gear. I called in this morning asking for the operating hours, since it is a holiday. I get someone on the phone and ask for the operating hours and who picks up just says "I don't know, but we're open now" then proceeds to hang up very quickly. Obviously if they pick up the phone I know they are open and 2 saying we're open now doesn't help. If I'm calling is because I'm planning a trip there, not me on my way there. So I guess expect great customer service except on holidays even tho even yelp itself advises you to contact for special holidays hours. read more

We needed a frisbee golf set to play at the nearby park. My husband had bought one a week prior so he knew just where they were. 3 pack set was very affordable new. Otherwise they have a ton of used ones here in good condition. The kid ringing us up was efficient and friendly. Came in looking for a new bat for my son, and was impressed with their selection of used equipment as well. My son liked a few of the options in the used area so we picked one up as they're all priced quite fair. Their used equipment comes with a 10 day warranty, and we inadvertently put that to the test. The first bat we tried appeared to be in good shape, but it unfortunately had some sort of issue and it just didn't have any pop left in it. We brought it back and they took it back with zero hassle. We traded for the other one we were looking at and it worked just fine. Friendly service, a warranty that they stand behind, and really fair prices for their used gear. Sports equipment isn't cheap, and kids grow quickly, so I can't recommend a place Play it Again enough. :) We'll be back, and you should as well. read more

We heard of this store on the weekend and my son had some birthday money he wanted to spend so we drove over from La Mirada to check it out. Initially, one of the guys who helped my son with a bat was very friendly and helpful, he got called up to the register and never came back... we just waited for someone else to help. We waited maybe 20 min. Standing around the register, walking over to where the bats were and the boys would look over and not bother offering help. I finally told my son we should leave since no one was helping. Both of the boys were at the register, one on his cell phone, one helping customers who walked in for returns while we stood there waiting to be helped. My son was so disappointed, he really wanted a hype fire or a Cat 9 bat... we left empty handed and wasted 30-40 min in there. Won't come back! read more

Have been coming to the Los Al Play it Again sports now for a few years, but this was my first experience at the new location. I had my boys with with me and we were out and about taking care of a few things with the last stop being at Play it Again. The boys were super excited to check out all the sports gear and my oldest son had to use the restroom really bad not long after walking in. I asked the associate if my son could use the restroom and she officially said we don't have public restrooms. Anyone that has small children knows that when they have to go, they have to go. My son even warned me when we were almost there and I said yeah, they have a restroom because at the old one on Katella, the young gentlemen said of course he can use the restroom. Everything else was fine except for that huge factor, which totally killed the whole experience. My kids don't get a lot of Dad time, so this was a bummer for us. We have been shopping here for years. We have bought and sold things here. The customer service has never been great, but it was good enough to keep going, until today. We bought a set of flippers for our son two days ago that ended up being too big. We tried to return them or exchange them, the sales person remembered my husband buying them, and even told him so. I walked into the store a couple of days ago looking for a bat for my son and I was very pleased to see the group of teenagers completely over the bs that we face in todays America. They want to regain the freedom that we once had by not putting on a mask. We don't deserve to be muzzled anymore, it's been over a year. I was disappointed by the lack of customer service and very little selection for kids soccer gear when I came in prepared to purchase items for both my children playing AYSO in the fall. We have gotten things from PIAS in the past with helpful and knowledgeable staff, but yesterday was a huge disappointment. Maybe they are under new management? I was told they would not have Soccer items or any deals until "October " "When soccer season starts" he said! I told him Soccer is now a year around sport and Fall Soccer is beginning in August. He seemed unaware and did not seem to care. We drove over to Soccer Central in Hawaiian Gardens --the store is beautiful !!! They had knowledgeable staff and I got got deals that exceeded what Play it Again Soccer offers and they were ALL new items. Having recently moved down here, I was excited to see a play it again sports so close to my new home. I need to restock my workout supplies, starting with a big stability ball. When I walked in, three young people behind the counter were chatting fervently and I don't think they greeted me. I went straight to the counter and asked if they had stability balls and one young man walked me to a lone one on the shelf, pointed and started walking away. I said, looks like this one is for people 6'5" and over and I am a tallish woman but I don't come close to 6'5". He just shrugged and said that was all they had. He went back to the conversation and didn't ask if I needed anything else. I walked around and didn't see much used equipment and the prices for the new were on the higher side, in my opinion. I really wanted to give them my business but the aloof customer service and lack of variety will send me to Amazon or a larger chain. read more

My experience at Play it Again Sports was pretty awesome. I realized my son needed cleats for practice the next day and went to Sports Chalet...they didn't have his size, so I went to another sports store and once again, they didn't have his size. Out of sheer desperation I called Play it Again and they said they had a couple pairs of cleats and to come down and try them on. I brought my son in and the first pair we grabbed fit him perfectly. I checked the price thinking I would be paying $25-$30 and guess what? $3.99. I am not joking. Yes, they were slightly used, but let's be honest, he will probably grow out of these cleats before the season is over. I paid for the cleats and vowed to always check here first when I need sports gear. The two guys working there were very helpful to my family and I very much appreciate it. Horrible experience brought in 3 excelent condition vintage right hand Baseball gloves Rawlings, Mazuno 6 new Rawings Official major league baseballs, New boxing headgear and everlast leather boxing gloves "The Duke" Professional Football the attendent picked up the Leather boxing headgear stated we don't do anything with Boxing and just threw it in the box that was on the floor. very rude customer service I never mentioned any price for the gear. The 2 custormer service guys said "oh we have more than enough baseball gloves", thats ok but they were just plain rude made me feel like I was looking for a hand out. I came here because I was in need of a wetsuit and I was attracted to the groupon deal of $40 for $50. I got lost trying to find it because the sign for PORTAL drive was very faded. It was worth searching for as they were very helpful when I was searching for the right suit. I found a nice used suit in excellent condition for a decent price. $50 and it was practically like new. I got the suit for $40 because of the deal, and managed to find a neat used pair of small beginner swim fins. I'm all set for the waves tomorrow and am excited to test my used merchandise! Play It Again Sports is a huge place with all sorts of sporting goods like skateboards, softball/baseball equipment, surfing equips., golfing equips. and plenty more.
