I changed from a 5 to a 1 for the following reason. Went to the Big 5 at 4722 E. Ray Rd in Phoenix today. We checked to see what the masks requirements were and on the window by the front door a sign says ALL EMPLOYEES and customers must wear a mask. We put on our masks and we will walked there were 3 employees, only one had a mask. One welcomed us and asked if he could help us. I said I was confused as your sign says All Employee must wear a mask. He just stared at me. EITHER ENFORCE YOUR POLICY or REMOVE YOUR SIGN. read more

This place has a little bit of everything. I was actually surprised at some of the things they did have including an aisle dedicated to fishing equipment and even a few free weights lying around. I was there on Saturday and was looking around for some help but it was pretty busy so no worries. This place will get you buy in a pinch if you need a tennis racket or your kid needs a baseball glove quickly. They do offer some cool deals in the paper as well. I went in looking to do the $10 off $30 spent. I came in looking for one thing and they did have it. A weighted vest. Still deciding whether or not I will get it as there seems to be a better selection on Amazon. Pretty good spot to pick up sporting goods for a variety of activities. I went in looking for biking equipment and apparel. Unfortunately, their inventory was very limited in options -- I did end up getting one item though. I've visited previously for camping equipment and have found what I needed. This was a horrible experience. I walked in knowing exaxtly what I wanted, and it was an item behind the counter. I had to wait, and and inconvience an employee to help me. When I went to pay for it, there was 5 employees up front (with 1 register going) and a few customers waiting in line. The employess were complaining that some of their shifts were over, and were also complaining that they don't get paid enough to work past their shifts. So again I was inconveniencing them by try to purchase something from their store. If I owned this place and heard or saw the staff acting like this, I would fire all of them and start over with staff who would appreciate the job read more

I'm pretty happy with my purchase today. I found a pair of man's sandals and looked like it's under sale. The store guy told me it was on sale last week but no longer. Then I asked if he can do me a favor to give me the sale price and he agrees. I checked out but continue shopping for something else and got about $40 other things. I then asked the check out guy if I can return that shoes and combine all the things I want to buy so that I can use a 10 off 50 coupon. He agrees with the manager's consent and did working for a while to return my shoes and combine my stuffs together. read more

I had never shopped at this big 5 until the other day and I was so gleefully surprised. The customer service I received from the cashier named Jordin was phenomenal. She made sure I had all that I needed and even sold me on some other things I needed and was debating on. She was very respectful and even told me to drive safely.
