The Good: Shawarma Fries always hit the spot. This place has alot of fusion med/Mex style good. The Mid: Kabob plate. Meat was flavorful, but super dry. Order was fresh so I know it wasnt sitting the there. Not sure but something missing with the seasoning or something. Veggies were not super fresh cant really say what was lacking. when we first walked in, the staff were friendly by welcoming us, offering us a menu, and recommending their best burgers. we ordered the swiss mushroom and crispy chicken burgers, both combo so it came with friends and we can grab our soda of choice from the fridge. the place was spacious, clean, and had a lot of tables. once our food was ready, the staff brought it to our table! swiss mushroom burger - THIS WAS SO GOOD! their beef patty is super juicy and flavorful. i haven't had a burger like this before that makes you keep wanting to eat it. their beef patty is really really good. everything is so balanced, not overwhelmed by the mushroom or onions and it complimented each flavors perfectly. crispy chicken burger - the chicken was indeed really crispy and juicy on the inside. this burger tasted like a hearty meal, not too salty or bland, on the higher end than other chicken burgers i've tasted. their fries were crispy and seasoned well! i recommend getting their SPICY GARLIC SAUCE to dip. it was house made and delicious. The crispy chicken burger is soooo good. Love the shredded lettuce. Only complaint is all the muscles I had to keep spitting out. My wife and I went to Downey to out the food at the World Famous Grill,we have been to the Original one in Bell the food was really good we enjoy it. They open World Famous Grill in Downey then we headed there to try the food. The restaurant is average size including refrigerator with all kind of drink including Mexican and American soda and also drinks from the Middle East. They also have a dessert display serving Middle Eastern dessert like Baklava. We were looking at the menu and see what to order my wife decided to the falafel wrap with fries then I order the Kabob plate it have chicken and beef including salad and humus and pita comes with garlic spead and other sauces. The chicken was delicious season well and cook perfect same with the beef season and also cook perfect with incredible favors. The humus was pretty I enjoy it and the salad was good and rice pilaf was amazing good. My wife enjoy her falafel wrap and fries. read more

Oooolala! I am so glad I came across this new gem in Downey. I ordered the chicken shawarma and must say that every bite led me to wanting more, it was so good. I felt like a jolly kid in a candy store looking at all the delicious options the menu has to offer. I am much pleased with my decision and will be coming back to try some more. I am both happy and sad that World Famous Grill is not closer to my house. Sad because it's not close enough to my house. Happy because if it was closer, it would be the only place I'd eat. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine catered our poker night from World Famous. Often when you get large amounts of chicken, beef, and this case kefta and falafel, the meat has a tendency to be dry and tough. This was so not the case. The meat was tender, juicy, and immensely flavorful. The falafel was the best I've ever had in my life. If you know of better, please tell me. The hummus was good, but overshadowed by an unbelievable spicy garlic sauce. That night poker took a back seat to World Famous. A week or so later, I was back in the area and had to try it again. This is no ordinary Mediterranean spot, they have everything. They have burgers, Mexican, even Mexican influenced Mediterranean dishes. Fun fact- Mexican al pastor actually comes from the Mediterranean shawarma. Anyways, this time I had an unbelievable steak wrap. I could easily eat this every day for the rest of my life. My son tried the Monster Nachos that come with carne asada and homemade tortilla chips. He said it was the best nachos he's ever had. My wife had the falafel plate and you already know what I think about the falafel. I honestly can't wait to go back to try so many other things. So I was out in Downey when I found this spot and decided to order the Beef Schwarma Wrap. The parking spaces are a little compact so you gotta be a little careful when you park. The place was pretty busy when I walked in and the food took about 15 minutes to prepare. The cashier also gave me the sauce with it and I am glad she did. I have been coming to this restaurant since they were in Anaheim. Last time I tried the buffalo chicken fries burrito, its HUGE! Not only is the food outstanding, but is made by hand by the owner's Lebanese mother. The gentleman that served us was her grandson. He served us hand-rolled grape leaves (she had made the night before) so densely packed they wouldn't spill a grain of rice. The kebabs were generous with meat, I should have asked for a knife - I ended up needing to tear them by hand because they were so nicely portioned. The meat is halal, hand-slaughtered, and does not disappoint. Whatever you do - get the spicy sauce and put it on everything! First time eating at World Famous Grill. I placed an order over the phone for a kafta kabob plate with tabouli and it was ready for pick-up in less than 15 minutes. The hummus was creamy and had a neutral flavor (not salty, not nutty, not garlicky). The tabouli was fresh and clean tasting (not salty, not oniony, not acidic). The rice was perfectly seasoned and just a tiny bit oily, but in the best possible way. The beef kabobs were a generous size and not overly cooked or overly seasoned. The meat was ideal for topping with the mind-blowing spicy garlic sauce (it reminds me of the sauce at Fatima's Grill). The only thing that was kinda meh was my cold-a$$ pita bread, but that's minor.
