Average bagel shop in a strip mall. Only one table had customers eating and the 3 teens behind the counter never greeted us, which wasn't an inviting start. I had the southern tradition bagel and it was just average. My fiancé had the veggie omelet bagel and also felt it was average. We stumbled on this place when we were starving and didn't feel like looking any further. It wasn't horrible but nothing special. Plenty of other breakfast spots in Grand Rapids with better food but this was fine for a quick bite. read more

Good bagels, great muffins. Coffee is so so but for some reason their cold brew is my favorite in the area. One thing about this place- the service is just awful! The ladies who work here seem so unprofessional and rude. My wife and I came in and spent about $20 on bagel sandwiches and coffees. It was probably 10-15 minutes til 2:00 which is when they close- eating a bagel sandwich takes about 10-15 minutes and there was another girl in there too. I was surprised when they said- oh by the way we are closing sooo......and just kind of stared at me while they punched in the order. I said that's fine we can take it go. Which is was fine, we ate in the car but had they allowed us to just sit down for 10 minutes it would have been so appreciated. We for sure would have gotten up and left at 2:00 on the dot. Bagels aren't as good since management switch. Price increase but way less than you used to get. My bagel with cream cheese had such a light scraping of cream cheese on it that it was still crunchy on the inside. Why charge more but give so much less? I paid for cream cheese, I would like to at least be able to taste or see that it's there. Husband ordered a breakfast sandwich and wasn't as happy as he used to be. He says, "the bagels are so fluffy. Were they always like eating air?" We also each ordered a tea and paid $2 for hot water and a packet. Feels a little overkill. Not impressed. I love the tomato basil bagel but think I'm going to start switching to Panera for awhile. read more

This place went downhill. They took a price increase, which is fine but they have cheapened their bagel, size and portion. The mini muffins were hard and not fresh. The egg and bacon is less than half the size it used to be. The cashier with a blonde shaved head should not be talking to customers she was rude and snappy. read more

The staff was extremely short with me, treating me like I was stupid for asking basic questions, for example when I asked if I could get cream cheese on the bagel she responded with "if you ask for it" and when I asked for a specialty bagel she said "you can order from the menu". I feel that it's more important than ever to praise positivity, and therefore, this store was a breath of fresh air! We walked in on this fine Sunday morning and there was uplifting music playing. The room was packed with people after the church rush waiting for breakfast. The owner was making food and his two daughters rang us up. They are were SO polite, kind, and when we asked if they had dog bones (they didn't at the time) they yelled to their dad that they should bring them back. Their dad, in the middle of a chaotic rush, offers to MAKE a batch for us. I've worked in the food service industry and these rushes are not for the weak. It was such an amazing and positive atmosphere of TEAMWORK. Not only that, but it was incredible to see the work ethic that this father has instilled in his young daughters. I came in here for a quick lunch, before helping some friends with their wedding setup. It was totally empty and kind of chilly in the store. It was tricky finding all of the menu selections, which are towards the back of the store. I was helped by a really friendly girl and liked that she was so perky, despite it being pretty dead in there. As I mentioned, I'm a big fan of cafes. Big Apple Bagels is not known to many people in Illinois, but this nice quaint cafe can be found in Michigan. They have a bigger assortment of bagel sandwiches than a Panera Bread, but you have to take into consideration of all cafes. This particular cafe focuses on bagel sandwiches. You have the selection of breakfast bagel sandwiches to quick lunch bagel sandwiches. This cafe closes around 5ish, so that doesn't give you the option of being able to a bagel sandwich in the evening hours. It was very convenient for me when I was in College to go here to get a healthy and quick meal on the go. I always chose the "Combo Meals". You get your bagel sandwich, pickle, bagel chips, and a drink. To create your bagel sandwich, you have an assortment of 15 or more bagels to choose from. Then, if you want a simple bagel with cream cheese, you have 10 different cream cheese to choose from. Yes, I said BAGEL CHIPS. They are delish. It's simply a bagel sliced very thinly and seasoned then baked. I don't know what they do to them, but they are addicting. The only downfall with the bagel chips is that you can't just go in and get them...they only come with the meal. Their coffee selection is somewhat like a Dunkin Donuts but not as complicated (yes, I think Dunkin Donuts has a complicated coffee menu) Their service was good as well. This particular location is located next to a high school, but their service is still acceptable. It's located in a strip of other businesses that you may easily stroll down and "shop" in. read more

I was here on Saturday and the experience was dreadful. I waited 20 minutes for my bagel breakfast sandwich and there were only 3 people in line ahead of me. When I got home, 5 minutes away, I realized that the bagel was not even completely toasted and that the food was cold. I went back and explained my experience and asked for my money back. The manager was unapologetic and said that they do not do refunds. After talking with a couple of other people about this I now see why- that is a typical experience at this establishment, which seems to be extremely poorly run. I love this place. Its always clean and friendly including the bathroom. And they actually do an east coast style bagel which is boiled not baked and it tastes so much better. I can't eat panera bagels anymore after going here. I usually get the breakfast cause its served all day! And they rarely will run out of stuff. I love it! read more
