Naturally, I got no refills on coffee and server was hanging around chatting along with the cook ignoring customers. Had to get up and get my own to-go container. The four strips of bacon were obviously cooked a while ago, and came out dark and kinda soggy. The eggs, which I ordered over medium were barely cooked. Even parts of the egg white were still runny. So. Classic 50s style diner, the atmosphere is amazing, like stepping 50 years ago into the past. Worth it JUST for that IMO. We go there when we want to celebrate with the kids, and our teenagers love the hell out of the place. Now - remember me mentioning dessert. They have a Banana. Cream. Pie. Milkshake. I was like okay, so it's flavored with syrup or phosphates. And I have to say....no it wasn't. Actual real bananas and with pieces of what tasted like crust (could've been Nilla Wafers) but yeah. This 50's themed diner has very tasty offerings. I have dined here a few times for breakfast and have thoroughly enjoyed your typical breakfast of eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast to an old style banana split with the 3 ice cream flavors and toppings. All were delicious! The staff is super friendly yet efficient. I love how my coffee stays filled to the exact amount I want. My wife and I have dined in the big Apple Diner a number of times. One of the best things about big Apple Diner is their ambience. These pay special attention to the 1950s and early 1960s era. From the dress and costumes they wear to the tables and chairs to the music pipe in through the restaurant, big apple diners are very advent guard experience. The other thing is really nice about them is the cost of the food. Well I could wish it was of the same price as the 1950s 1960s, it certainly isn't comparable to what we're paying at restaurants today in the mid 2020s. Their food is served piping hot very good most of its homemade or made from scratch it taste very good not terribly expensive. Large portions such that two people could order one thing like their club sandwich and be good with just that. The restaurant has good parking, it could be more, but they do share a parking lot with a club known as the garage right next-door. You might have to walk a few more steps, but your car will be safe and you'll have a good dining experience. Finally, the service is fantastic, they have some good people that work there they know how to put you the customer first make you feel good they help you order what you wanna order. Overall, this is a great restaurant, highly recommended. read more

The Big Apple Diner is just that a diner. It's that type of menu that you can choose breakfast, lunch, or dinner anytime of day, of course except for the baked potato which you can only get after 4 pm. Since I'm not a huge breakfast fan, and most of my colleagues wanted to go out, this was a really good choice for our annual Halloween staff breakfast. I've been there once before, and the diner seemed not quite as clean then as it did this time, but I'm not sure why and it has been a number of years since my first visit. The the dishes that were served to all of us were fairly ample and they all looked pretty good. One of my colleagues got a feta, spinach, bacon, egg scramble thingy that look really tasty actually and she said it was good. So next time I go I'll get that instead. Since I'm not a huge breakfast fan I ended up with a grilled cheese and ham with onion sandwich and french fries. Yes, it was 9 in the morning. But that's just the way I roll at the breakfast hour. The host was wonderful, and the wait staff was fairly attentive except for the end when it was time to pay the bill. Then we couldn't get her attention and of course it was when we were trying to get out of the restaurant to get to a meeting back at the office. It literally took her what seems like 15 minutes to see our hand in the air waving to get her attention. We were so excited to try this place, but we're HUGELY disappointed! My partner and I arrived and left our name and number with the host. We waited longer than the time they'd given us. The host said asked us to wait there and that we would be the next party to be seated. 5 minutes later, TWO other parties were seated with no indication that we were being considered. I don't like giving one star reviews. I hate it actually. I have a system. 2 stars for food. 2 stars for service. 1 extra star when something is absolutely wonderful. The service wasn't good. The food wasn't good and there was nothing absolutely wonderful. So one star it is. We came in on a week day for brunch, and our waiter seemed like we were inconveniencing him. He was short, didn't make eye contact and when drinks were empty, they stayed empty. I'm a pretty light eater, so food comes home with me regularly. I asked for a box twice. Then got the check. Still no box. So I left the food, which probably would have gone uneaten at home. I got the French toast with raspberries and bacon. The bacon was okay, my French toast was undercooked and the berries were far from fresh, soaked in a sugar syrup with an odd after taste. My friend got the biscuits and gravy and the gravy was warm, not hot and she said it was meh. Maybe it was an off day, but from the looks of other reviews, it seems to be pretty standard. Great breakfast! Stopped by The Big Apple Diner last Monday morning. It was our first time there as we were on the road back from the airport and we were hungry. Love the authentic 50's vibe. The place screamed comfort food! Our server, Amanda, was super helpful. I ordered the Belgian waffle combo. The waffle was just as advertised, a malted milk batter that tasted like a waffle cone, yum. The bacon is high end, Daily's, delicious. The O'Brien potatoes were great! When do you get a waffle or pancake with potatoes? Eggs were made to order. My husband had eggs and sausage. Went to the Big Apple Diner yesterday. The service was amazing, my server was super friendly, and incredibly attentive, as was all of the staff I encountered. I was made to feel welcomed the entire time I was there. The food on the other hand left at to be desired. I ordered a soup and half sandwich, the sandwich was acceptable, but the broccoli soup was horrifically inedible. It smelled and tasted like veggies that sat too long in the drawer in the bottom of the fridge, and my husband's Monte Cristo was strangely soggy. I have been eating there for years, and the food is usually amazing, especially the fish and chips, (I just wasn't wanting greasy food) so I hope this is a one-off. read more

Should have at the time so I didn't waste my money again! ordered the biscuits and gravy plate and the corned beef hash plate. once I bit into the biscuits and gravy I remembered why I didn't come back for breakfast! The gravy is super peppery, the biscuit was just horrible, the sausage links were not cooked fully, was cold and there was some pink in the middle. The scrambled eggs were extremely bland. Best thing on the plate were the hashbrowns! The corned beef hash plate was ok, only bad was one egg was overcooked and one was undercooked ( that takes some talent ). Now that the owners of the 19th hole bought this place, maybe they could put some of their weekend breakfast items on the menu. I would definetly come back for breakfast then! Per Yelp, Big Apple is the most popular breakfast spot in Bremerton, so last Sunday we gave it a whirl. One comment about Bremerton itself, what a scenic town - with about 35 million inlets from Puget Sound coursing through the city. We came pretty early (around eight) so we were seated immediately. But when we left there was a fierce waiting list with people spilling out into the parking lot. Big Apple (bedecked with a 50s theme) is a smoothly run operation, with a legion of staff efficiently taking/delivering orders and refilling beverage cups. We were seated by a rather massive, but quiet, orange juice squeeze machine. So of course, we ordered orange juice. Along with the orange juice, JP requested the Idaho trout, and I asked for steak. Sure, the orange juice squeezer is a fun novelty, but how well did it do the OJ? I wondered how it was going to extract juice, but nothing else. It didn't turn out so hot. The juice had a pungent overwhelming flavor of orange peel. However, the rest of our food was good. The trout was seasoned well and my steak was tender and cooked to specification. But while they were otherwise okay, the scrambled eggs were in curious pieces about the size of rice grains. The hash browns were rather underdone, but still decent. You pay at the cash register. The location of the register is a little awkward, because as you stand at the counter, you block staffers from entering/exiting the kitchen. Still, overall a satisfactory breakfast. But I do need to mention the Johnny's Salt we saw on our table. I looked at its contents label. It's MSG with a little seasoning. Somewhat alarmed, I checked with our server to see if it was used in our dishes. She assured us that none of the menu items contained Johnny's Salt, but that they did use it in some of their condiments, like potato salad. read more

Great prices and great food! I came here for breakfast and got a chicken fried steak for $10.95. The diner theme here is great! They also have various knick-knacks for sale. I found some books that contain information regarding years people were born. They contained ads from the year, gas prices and many more cool facts about the year you were born. Very unique and cool! The only thing I didn't like about the diner was there was a banquet table set up for people to eat on. Kind of cheesy and very uncomfortable, I'm happy I didn't sit there. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. I have stopped in twice now for lunch with my dad. The staff here is warm and friendly, the décor and music nostalgic. The first time around I ordered the tuna salad which was presented in a tomato and served atop a salad. I have a hard time finding this on most menus, and it's something that I've loved since the first time I had it when I was hungover in Las Vegas. In any case, it was delicious. It's simple, easy food, something that should be basic, but also something that I've seen done badly. The tuna salad was perfect by my standards, not fishy, not too wet, not too dry. Nice seasonings, and a good portion. The salad that it was served on was not necessary for me, but I could see how it would be nice if you were extra hungry. The second time around I had the steak and cheese sandwich on grilled sourdough, with fries. The steak was tender and tasty, and the cheese was not overwhelming. The fries were pretty good, but a little on the underseasoned side. Dad had a peach malt, SO good. Kids had a vanilla shake and a caramel shake, they seemed pretty happy about that. Old style diner with a pretty hefty menu. The food generally had very good taste. Knocking down the stars for two reasons: service was really slow and our steak were well under cooked. My son and I both had the 10oz New York strip. The steak was tasty but a bit hard to cut. We asked for medium and I got medium rare and my sons was even rarer. The steak came was potatoes and green beans. You have multiple choices of potatoes. All were tasty. The plate also comes with soup or salad. We both got soups. My son had the clam chowder and I had the Navy bean and ham. Mine was delicious but the clam chowder left a lot to be desired. Now about the service. The place was full. We had to wait about 15 minutes which wasn't bad. Once we sat down we ordered right away. Drinks and soups came out right away. My wife and I had a lite fare meat loaf dinner and it was terrible the meat loaf was dry and some of them burnt. The cook look like heated the meat loaf in the grill and dried the meat loaf burnt some of them, both my wife and I was disappointed. The manager asked us how was our meatloaf and I told him about my complaint and he said, they were changing the recipe, that I should come back next week. I don't know what that has anything to do with my complaint. He did give me a 30% employee discount. I think his problem is the cook. The service is good and the place is clean. read more

Hadn't been to Big Apple Diner in a while and brought the family there to try it out again. Unfortunately we had an extremely lack luster experience. From the second we walked in it seemed like every employee we encountered was absolutely miserable. They would barely smile at us at all, snap quick responses in monotone voices. We ordered breakfast and then when one of them was brought out the toast was literally completely black and burnt to a crisp. Why they would even think that this was acceptable to even offer to a customer is almost mind boggling to me. I've managed several food establishments before and I would never let this lack of quality control fly in my kitchen. We asked for boxes at the end of our meal and the girl we asked practically glared at us when we asked for them, walked away and silently handed them to us again glaring. When we looked at the boxes they were completely dirty and covered in black stuff. We asked for new ones and showed her and she didn't apologize or anything she literally just glared again, grabbed them out of our hands and then grabbed new ones. Our waitress was Debbie and the overall experience she provided to us was not friendly, verging on rude and just not the type of waitressing that you want from somewhere.
